Absolutely 1st class video! Really useful tips, and zero time wasting. Exactly how a RUclips tutorial should be. We're about to buy a Pocket 3 for our travel channel, and your suggestions are exactly what we need. Many thanks indeed!
Hands down the best video around the Pocket 3. No nonsense, just straight up valuable information, presented in a professional manner. Bravo! I think this product is a wake-up call to the traditional mirrorless camera makers who are still providing a form-factor that is based on an old way of thinking about shooting video. Of-course a large sensor camera for photography cannot be replaced by this device, and having a shallow DoF isn't possible with an 1" sensor. However, when the majority of the needs - let's say 80% - can be solved with this camera, and in some ways provide a better user experience, it just might be that a large sensor, mirrorless camera now actually becomes the "B-cam", and this little thing becomes the "A-cam"....
Really nice job. Presented exactly perfectly for someone getting started with the OP3. Much of what you said I already did. But then there were things I hadn’t seen or had overlooked. But no longer. Thanks a million!
I actually thought defaulting to 1080p was weird, since both Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro came set to 4K60 - Almost the opposite. Personally? I shoot 2.7K on the drones and Pocket (when it has it) for day to day stuff unless its something special. Saves HUGE battery, storage and gives a 3X zoom. On RUclips it looks very close to 4K also. PS runs the cameras at much cooler temps - a really great compromise! 👍
I’m getting my new camera today and I’m so thankful for this video I was nervous as I wouldn’t know how to use it properly this was extremely helpful!! Thankyou!
This walk through of the OS3 settings was just what I needed. I just took delivery but had to buy it piece by piece as DJI still have no stock of the combo kits here in the UK. Keep up the great work. Where about in UK are you ?
I’m having to go to another video to find out how to select the webcam option. You mentioned it but didn’t show how to get to it. Also, as someone who just bought the camera, I’m not sure if you mean that the mic ONLY records within the mic itself or ALSO records within the mic. Despite that, I really appreciate this video, I definitely benefited and learned more than I expected~
Thanks for this! I’m not yet finished but i’ve got most of my settings organized now thank you! Just fyi for others hwen it comes to that grid line. For me it’s Settings > Reference Line> Grid (swipe right)
Pocket 3 is very cute... but when are the testers here on RUclips going to address the sound that comes right out of the Pocket 3 which is totally inferior to the Pocket 2. Can you tell us how to adjust the volume for the built in mic.
Man, I LOVE the Pocket 3!! I used it exclusively for all the videos on my channel (Digital Victory) - I used to use the Pocket 1 and now you can see the difference, it's amazing. Your video has made it even better - thank you for your expertise!
Very good recommendations! I got my Pocket 3 yesterday, and some of the settings were defaulted to what you recommend. Screen rotation didn't start recording by default, for example. And there were a few other things that had changed, like the battery % being shown on the screen.
*@**13:24**; Thank you so much for doing this video and addressing the one question NO ONE ELSE is answering in regard to video playback monitoring with audio included ! I'm convinced no other reviewer of the OSMO Pocket 3 on RUclips seems to know about the video playback with audio feature ! This new and rather essential feature (Probably because it is turned off by default) seems to be causing reviewers to think the video playback feature does not include audio as well !!! 👍🎬 This feature was missing from the OG OSMO Pocket.*
This is really good stuff! I just got my Pocket 3 a week ago and just love it, and I'm still learning the fine points about it. One question I do have: you showed a visible audio level bar on the Pocket 3's display when using the wireless mic. Can you get that same level bar from the internal mic? That's one thing I miss about this camera, compared to other camcorders I've had in the past.
Just got my pocket 3 today, was looking for an all in one, straight up helpful video to get me started and stumbled upon your video! Great job!!! Really top notch video you have right here!

Thanks for the zoom tip. I was really wondering. Do you habe any tips on smoother panning videos? I feel like panning left to right or right to left is somehow feeling a bit fuzzy and choppy. I am on medium follow speed.
Very helpful and well explained, thank you! Today I was confounded by not hearing audio during playback on the Pocket 3. Your tip showed me what I was missing. Thanks!
I will receive my Osmo Pocket 3 tomorrow. Therefore I watched your video and I have to compliment you on every chapter. I will follow it step-by-step and it will save me many mistakes and frustration. Thank you very much.
Everything is really good and the upgrade from the pocket 2 is a big one. The only thing that I found as a downside is that it doesn’t support the pause function the pocket 2 has. I don’t understand why they would take that feature away.

Thanks so much for this video. Very helpful for true beginners. Lots of other videos I watched didn’t do a very good job at explaining the reason for changing the settings!
Is it possible to record just the sound? For example in doing a car video I need engine/exhaust sound which I later add to my timeline so I need only sound to record. Is it possible?
Frankly it’s a personal preference, try filming a scene at both FPS to see what you like better. Personally I default to 30fps as I’m not looking for that cinematic look.
Maybe a strange question or something i should already know. . . When using the mic 2, does recorded audio save on the pocket 3 sd card with the video or do i have to retrieve it from the mic 2 usb port as a separate file?
@@DMProductions how long have you had yours, and have you used it for any long filming sessions? Thanks! Considering buying one, but nervous about what I am hearing about the issues.
I keep seeing issues with the screen having issues not locking in place on videos. I'd love to upgrade my pocket 2 as it's been flawless. But I'm nervous about some issues people are reporting. And I hear you can not bind 2 mics to it. Thoughts??
I'm actually glad it defaults to 1080 instead of 4k. I would prefer to record things in 1080. For home video or youtube, ( isn't RUclips just going to compress the heck out of any 4K video sent to it anyway?) 1080 looks great slash perfectly adequate for most everything. The only reason I would want to shoot at a higher rate would be if it gave me better zoom or if for some reason when recording at 1080 the settings for color sharpness exposure / light are worse. Which to me would make no sense for them to be doing. Especially if they're making 1080 the default. The like you said having it turn on and start recording every time the screen gets moved / rotated could be pretty annoying. What could be good for wildlife, bird watching , sports. Actually definitely would be great for bird watching and probably wildlife. For me recording above 1080 is just going to be creating larger files eating up my memory, causing editing issues, and eating up the battery faster on the camera. These are all things that I would want to be avoiding as much as possible. I would have to have my face stuck so close to the viewing on a large TV, (which I would never actually be doing). And I know that what I am recording for is not really that important to care about that many lines/ 4k. I'm also sure that I won't get hired to shoot video for clips to be used in the next Star Wars movie At the moment I also like the idea of not having the audio come on while I'm just doing some quick check of playback on the camera. I think most people are just checking to see really quick if they actually got the shot they were hoping for and they don't need/Want to waste their battery for playing back the audio. Why does it always, even on the cheap camera I have that you need to turn the exposure down a little bit or your sky is going to be blown out? Of course then there's a damn good chance I'm going to forget to put the exposure back to zero again in the evening / night 🙄😅😖. Wouldn't it be good if they had a couple of memory settings you could do one for day one for night one for cloudy etc... Oh wait don't some of these expensive action cameras do that? 🙂 But still some good info in this posting of yours 🙂
Re saving your settings for night or other reasons, this is done by swiping down for the main menu then top left (person icon) allows saving custom settings
I have a question what happens if over time the battery dies out do we have to throw away the whole camera or they have thought about this and the batteries can be replaced
Hi, thank you so much for this video. I am just currently purchasing one. Can I ask your honest opinion please? We are going away on holiday and want to use it in the theme parks. We are not intending to upload it to RUclips just a family video. I’ve ordered two SD cards for it. Would you still advise shooting in 4K or drop down to 2K as a holiday video, I was thinking maybe it would save space on the cards
If you have an option of backing up the memory cards whilst away I would do that and shoot in 4K and when you transfer files to a SSD drive you can format the cards. If not 2k will be fine
Does it matter? Chat GPT 4o says that the SanDisk Extreme is a proper option to go with. And it also specifies that 512gb is the highest memory level of card that the OM3 can write to. That’s what I have in my unit and everything is working well. I would advise either getting extra 512 MicroSD cards, or at least one with a backup drive to transfer your videos to. I have a two terabyte one that I use which works well, and really am having a great time working with the OM3.
I have question. Can you connect this with the RHODE microphone? I have the connector that turns normal RHODE input (the old school pin) with USB C. Would that work with this DJI? RHODE microphone is better at capturing the audio.

Hey bud, If i buy your pocket 3 editor pack thingy, can i use it in the dji app when im editing my videos? Or what editing program do you use?
Is the DJI Memo app available for Samsung android and what does it look like? Thanks
I have a question what happens if over time the battery dies out do we have to throw away the whole camera or they have thought about this and the batteries can be replaced
Mine won't turn off. It would be helpful for you to add to this how to get it to turn off.
Hold down record button
I bought an early one and sold it on fairly quickly ... great idea but just too small ... pity!
Top video... helps a lot to know this... now waiting to buy the DJI Pocket 3 when it is back in stock!!!
It's really good, it's in stock on amazon geni.us/mWLkzsr
@@DMProductions Hi... I am from Mumbai, India and here in India, it is completely out of stock, unfortunately... eagerly waiting. Cheers and thank you
That is a speaker icon, not a microphone as you said, ie ‘mute the audio/speaker’, so that’s one for your blooper reel. 😁👍🏻
@@DMProductions ah fab. Thank you. Maybe be more economical with filming. Roughly how long would I get filming 4k on a 512gb and 256gb card?
Does it matter? Chat GPT 4o says that the SanDisk Extreme is a proper option to go with. And it also specifies that 512gb is the highest memory level of card that the OM3 can write to. That’s what I have in my unit and everything is working well. I would advise either getting extra 512 MicroSD cards, or at least one with a backup drive to transfer your videos to. I have a two terabyte one that I use which works well, and really am having a great time working with the OM3.
I don’t know if I should get this or a new GoPro?
Pocket 3
What makes you say that?
Thanks for sharing you setting with us, I will get these changed today. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
No problem 👍

Wow great video you talked about all the things I found annoying about the pocket 3 going to fix now !! Thank You 🎉… Great Camera I love mine so far 🎉
how do i keep recording at landscape after rotating the screen back to portrait?
Great video! Saving this for when mine finally arrives.
I got my pocket 3 today. They changed things around because I can't seem to find some of the things you mention.
You’ll love this little camera! The settings are still there they just moved some in different places but I’ll do a follow up
I have question. Can you connect this with the RHODE microphone? I have the connector that turns normal RHODE input (the old school pin) with USB C. Would that work with this DJI? RHODE microphone is better at capturing the audio.
When its in Webcam Mode Will it drw power though the usb from the P.c or Device?
