- Van Helsing is a 2004 action gothic horror film written and directed by Stephen Sommers. It stars Hugh Jackman as monster hunter Van Helsing, and Kate Beckinsale as Anna Valerious. The film is a homage and tribute to the Universal Horror Monster films from the 1930s and 1940s (also produced by Universal Studios which were in turn partially based on novels by Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley), of which Sommers is a fan.
The eponymous character was inspired by the Dutch vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing from Irish author Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. Distributed by Universal Pictures, the film includes a number of monsters such as Count Dracula (and other vampires), Frankenstein's monster, Duergar, Mr. Hyde and werewolves in a way similar to the multi-monster movies that Universal produced in the 1940s, such as Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula. The film received mostly negative reviews but has grossed $300 million worldwide.
Bless me father for I have sin, Priest sin yes I know that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"You're very good at that."
Roasted xD
Priest, “I wish you a week in Hell for that.”
Helsing, “It would be a nice reprieve.”
The way the priest said to Helsing was so hilarious.
The priest has a little boy in that room with him so he's trying to hasten things up.
@@champ8605 ......😂😂
Well, he's not just a priest, but a cardinal of the Holy Roman Church too, and an important one I guess.
The way he walks in man is just badass
This movie is underrated af
I always loved the backstory of the Princess' family and how it made for an unorthodox protagonist motivation. A pledge to God at risk of being unfulfilled is such a badass backdrop to the main conflict.

I love how this short scene is not only funny, but is an elegant way of explaining the world that this version of Van Helsing lives in. Without heavy-handed exposition, we learn in just over a minute that Van Helsing is a secret agent of a monster-hunting Order (one of the best they've ever had) and he's also an amnesiac. It also shows that, while the Order is based in Rome, it's multi-sectoral; of different faiths and mysticisms
Almost as if the movie was showing us this. Not telling us of amazing things that happened off camera.
From the Templars as they used Paganism and symbolism such as the green man. They also unlike history and films. Integrated well in foreign lands and were feared as warriors and diplomats. They also took existing things like architecture from the muslims for example and improved on it. They also brought back banking from the East. And the real reason the Vatican feared them was the secrets they held. So while everyone rushes to find the Templar gold. The real treasure they hide and protected until death. Til Valhal was the Grail now the holy grail in a certain language does not mean the cup of the chirst or the Holy Grail it translates into Bloodline a Royal Bloodline and the remains of certain woman. Learn the mystery of the Mona Lisa and a certain anagram.
simon braybrooke Where did You learn all of this?
@@kapitan19969838 It is all in the public domain by research. I read voraciously, I mean like a great white shark. Knowledge is power.
simon braybrooke Admirable, truly it is. However, you're being awfully vague. It is difficult for me to believe You without something concrete
Most underrated Movie ever!
Why :o I watched this first time many years ago and was thrilled by it right away.
Best movie ever
Coming from a Atheist.
It's sad that it's so underrated. I really liked as a kid and even now
It means way more to me now than back then.
This is my favourite movie ever 👐 how good were those graphics even from 13 years ago ! And my Lord....Ms Beckinsale 😍
it released in 2004 15 years earlier not 13
I actually really enjoy this movie
I liked it too
It is the best
It's was totally awesome movie😁
Funniest movie
No one can’t disagree with you
I love the score / everyones accents /the slide show is so goofy like a james bond briefing/ the dialogue is so comic book-y
This movie is FUN
I really like the fact that the Knights of Holy Order is a multinational and multi-beliefs effort.
Because they all know theres is only one god lol
@@plummet3860 if only such organisation exists or not the organisation if only such practice exists you know united people with no racism and respects each and everyones beliefs
@@ghernickersonnazaire8656 Also effective at killing monsters, it turns out.
Valdrick Zellarian it's called being American
Derrell S lol that's funny
That black and white picture of Kate is stunning.
Ironically, Dracula was one of Christianity's greatest defenders from the Muslim hordes of the Turks. He might not have been universally embraced, even by Western European Christians, but he was undoubtedly on their side.
That is part of the true history of the crusades that the revisionists refuse to teach.
neutral saying he was nothing but someone who kills brutally. no bravery no strategies, never kept an oath, captured many many times. don't late your fate fools by going to defend this thing.
The actual Vlad Tepes was a shape-shifting Reptilian who would drink the blood of children. Just like the 13 hybrid families of the Illuminati.
masterkeep 😂
Mohamed Laarabi 😂😂
This Movies Dracula was so damn good, a more fantastical take, but Richard Roxburgh was seriously charismatic.
this was actually a really low budget, grade B movie
very underrated film, I wish it got more attention
Still the best Werewolves in any movie to date
Damn wolverine also used to be a badass vampire hunter. Logan sure went through a lot in his life.
Well, being basically immortal does have the tendency to make you go to extremes over time....
and an archangel
I liked this fast moving game-like feel Van Helsing movie.
Van Helsing is The Archangel Gabriel. He was sent down to Earth and managed to live for 400 years, been killing monsters yet people thought he’s a murderer. He still continued until Gabriel met Dracula because of the Knights Of The Holy Order they’re part of. The two are close until there was a part when Gabriel had to kill Dracula (I forgot what was the reason why he killed him) and begged to God The Almighty Father in Heaven to erase his memories and to live a new life as a human being should for 400 years.
Pinter men sejarahmu mbakyu...
Interesting
Ok , that’s an idea .
Someone, anyone tell mat Pat is film theory to get this movie immediately!!!!
léKim Spotted Dracula was inspired by a Romanian Prince who defended the Orthodox Church. So I am believing that he did this because Van Helsing was defending the Roman Catholic Church. And also because mythology kind of makes Dracula out to be the Devil incarnate . Opposing sides in the Church division, kind of makes up a good bit of it . Defend God and his church , that’s what Gabriel ‘s job was.
0:22 every time i do confession session in church
This movie was really underrated.
Imagine you gained your lost memory... only to realize that you’re actually the Archangel Gabriel/Jibreel himself.
This is a great action movie.
These movies are deep. Most people never had an awareness of what Hollywood was trying to show/tell us all those years back.
or just trying to stir up some excitement within the masses,a break to the boringness of day to day
So, that vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein's monster are real?
Vampires, werewolves etc. don’t exist
god, vampires etc. don’t exist
1:45 - 1:50...."I'm the one left standing there when they die and they become the men they once were"....
Really sad line
This movie is so good and underrated.
That score, YES!
Most iconic movie I've ever seen 😍😍
One of the best scenes in the movie.
“Who will protect the world from darkness?”
Mmmm..
May be a tubelight
Amit Satyarthi it’s a Nocturne reference.
Belmont
2:08 The effects are not bad, but that portrait is hilarious.
We need a monster universe starting from this.
Van Helsing is actually James Bond! He may have lost his memories, but he will soon remember!
Nah... Van hellsing is actually a mutant with a healing factor and retractable claws... Remember when he got shot in the head and lost his memories? Yeah..
I'd like to think he is more like John Constantine.
Van Helsing's real name is Archangel Gabriel. FYI
The Silencer amusingly considering that Van Helsing was played by Hugh jackman who played wolverine who is mutant so that Van Helsing would have been wolverine ancestor or great great great grandfather
I love van helsing ❤️❤️❤️
One of the best werewolf movies
One of the best movie werewolves too.
wow...thats a good quality pics for medieval time
1800s wasn't medieval times
Where in the hell did they get a slide projector?
The same place they got a globe that simuates the sun and kills the vampires.
And photography!?
he has a steampowered, automatic crossbow and that's where your concern lies? :D
@@zeffiraananas3999 Photography would have been around for at least 50 years when this movie takes place
@@schippes24 🤣
So this is what Logan was doing way before he was laced with Adamantium
James Bond and Q of the renaissance.
Victorian Era. It's the 1800's
I always liked the Cardinal's way of speaking ..what is it? Italian? Romanian? .. He is the same actor that played as the Egypts curator in the movie The Mummy Returns. right?
Now i realized that unique accents also occur in mummy returns
Also the guy who played the hunchback also played Freddy in the first Mummy movie
@@mshanga89 Well this film is directed by Stephen Sommers who also reused his cast from The Mummy in GI Joe.
Sorry to be technical but Dracula recognized him as Gabriel one of the high order of the archangels just saying
Gabrielle is actually his first name. Dr. Gabrielle Van Helsing.
@@TrickshotFactory677 In this movie while not canon... dracula remarked that "it must be hard to be the right hand of god"... which obviusly is not a mortal but an archangel.. but it was not explained in this movie that's why we need a sequel...
+Sirch Tnecniv Santi oh, thanks man, i didnt know that, but thanks😁
@Rougamaru Which book do you mean?
@@TrickshotFactory677 Gabrielle is a woman. He is Gabriel.
This movie had the best werewolfs they need to make a second one pls
I feel like this movie accomplished what Universal failed to get relaunched.
This movie was bad ass
1:43 I didn't know that the Ancient One used to work there
Arch Angel gabriel visiting the Vatican
My favorite view of Vatican church.... I love it... Al time favorite movie
It remains 2004
Sometimes I’m fascinated by watching the background characters
What are they doing?
Where are they going?
What’s their story?
Etc
This movie is so underrated
2:50 perfect IMDB headshots!
It Is!!!
@@mikeleo1 LOL
Has anyone come back here after learning about that devastating fire?
I have and hearing him describe the Rose Window's age makes want to cry :,(
0:25
Priest: you shattered the Rose window!
Van Helsing: Not to split hairs but it was Mr. Hyde that did the shattering 😂
Superfantabulous movie
Amazing movie, I like Hugh Jackman so much
Valarius the elder!
BUT DON'T LET THE NAME FOOL YOU! He used to be young too!
Piece of the tapestry could it be a piece of the Yellow Claw if it was found in the trash dump in Olympia in 94 ? Green River Killer case
Soooo this is the workings of the Vatican underground monks lol
I like this movie 👍
My left ear liked this.
Kate Beckinsale looked so fkn gorgeous in this movie.
I knew this was fiction when the church cared about it's members
itsnotatoober You think you're funny pal?
@@itsnotatoober Haha, there it goes
They don't care, the bishop told Van Helsing that the order doesn't exist, when asking for help about him being the most wanted person in all of Europe. Meaning that he's S.o.L on not having the whole continent wanting to execute him.
The Church always cares
This is one of my best movies
It would be amazing to write a codex of holy order that Unites the sacred text of all religions into the singular spiritual vision... It would be amazingly difficult but the cause would be worth it!
i like this movie 2019
Alun Armstrong deserved to be in the *Harry Potter* movies. I hope that he will be cast in a role in *Fantastic Beasts* to compensate for that.
if i was being sent to romania, I would. and take that princess with me.
His title must be Father Exposition
most dramatic vampire I'v ever seen😈. "I LOVE THIS MOVIE"
I'm hoping my church has a basement set up like that, gadgets to fight the devil and protect people and stuff.
My Favrouite..hugh jackman
"In a manner..." LOL
BEST VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES....
Half dead? Is that even such a thing? Sometimes I know that bringing someone back to life, they would lose their memories.
When people are dead and brought back, they won’t remember every single thing when they used to be alive.
A remake will be done by Universal Studio's Dark Universe with a different actor connected to Tom Cruise's The Mummy
Dark Universe would be something like 'The Avengers' but with monsters that includes Frankenstein, Wolfman, Invisible man, Dracula, and even Van Helsing himself and etc
Adolf Hitler Because The Mummy failed the dark universe might not even go ahead and thats a shame as it would've been cool to see
apparently they had Jonny Depp signed to play the invisible man, its a shame it didn't work out
Dark universe was a failure unfortunately.
I love this movie and Hugh Jackman
The thumbnail looks like something out of PS5 Van helsing game beautiful
My guilty pleasure movie...
Hugh is awesome
Great movie man! Still watch it now and then i say its better then movies now a days to mutch cgi
When part 2 coming? Many years Ill waiting for this movie?
They dont make Vampire movies like this anymore
Its all glitter and romance now :(
I think a remake will happen
Dark universe will make a remake one eventually, because they are making their own 'Avengers' but with monsters like frankenstein, wolfman, invisible man, etc including van helsing himself
that got canceled too, last i heard
What do you mean this movie was one of the best box office grossing of 2004
I think this movie is cool
the actress who played Ana is now 40 some thing already... Time sure is cruel!
Time is a villain and a thief.
Yeah, 40s. OMG. when all women the world over crawl into caves and hide themselves from the rest of the world. give me a breeaaak !
Not for her.
Rin Okumura, Kate Beckinsale is a 45-year-old actress.
Well, Kate is 45 year old a still is hot as hell.
So it’s basically the og of vampire killers linking up with the family of og vampire killers. Van Helsing meets the Belmonts from Castlevania.
Thats true, the Valarious family are a clan of Vampire Hunters like the Belmonts trying to kill Dracula.
prince velcan is my favourite member of the valirous family in the film van helsing.
Clearly the script was written before the troubles in the church.
what a great movie
I like it more than Avengers Infinity war and Endgame
I thought of this scene when the Notre Dame caught fire
Brian from New Tricks anyone??
Okay, that cage that drops down in the booth, now I have serious questions
That's honestly quite terrifying. Nine entire generations dead after defending against evil now risk not being able to enter heaven. Wow.
A werewolf moment evert 12 years
For 1887 there seems to be a lot of technology
Turn of the century, a lot of the technology in this film did exist at the time. They just weren’t widespread because they were hard to make and sometimes not all that effective. For example the bolt action rifle was first made in the 1820s but only became widespread in the 1870s.
All time my fevorate mivie
Van Helsing is Templar ?
Clueless Templar Knight had already been hunted down and killed at this point.
Thats why they are saying in the confessional that they dont exist
Website guy man you suck !! You need to do some research, they were defending the Christian Church and their faith . They were part of the Crusades that kept Christian occupation of the Holy Lands against Islamic Invaders. Islamics meaning the Turks .
I LIKED NOT EXISTING WHEN THEY PULLED UP MY DRIVERS LIC...!!!!
Wolverine before joining x-men
So basically the holy order Van Helsing works for are the templar order from assassins creed but their the good guys in this instance.
1:53 when you take the melody of the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones...
Am I the only one that's getting The Mummy (1999) vibes
Same director after all
This needs a remake. I was so let down by it.
No it doesnt, you're a let down in general
I need a VIDEO GAME for this or a series
