ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE MOVIES. The costumes, the cinematography, the music, the CGI, the cast - ticking every box! OK, I'm gonna watch it again..!
Bruce Man Considering the amount of practical effects this movie had I assumed it would be fairly HIGH budget, but then again I guess thats where most of the money went.
Twilight is crap, agreed, but I personally really love the Vampire Diaries. I like the eye thingy the vampires do and their fangs. But for Van Helsing, I love the fact that the bride’s dresses are their wings. It’s so beautiful yet creepy.
i can't believe this is only 3 stars. this should be like 4 or 4.5. i mean the effects, stories, lines, costumes, scenes, plots are amazing even created back in 2004
Oh i meant that year 2004 the movie was created but rewatching it in 2015/ 2016 for me is still an amazing film and i even forgot what year the movie was made. i also find it amazing that even though it is a low budget film they were able to create amazing effect compared to other effects i watch that were made in the same year :)
This was a terrific movie and had the critics been kinder to it we might have been fortunate enough to get a Van Helsing II. But the critics panned it, I don't know why, the fans didn't turn out in great enough numbers at the box office and so we only have this one installment. Pity.
Not sure if you're aware of this but there is an animated film version about Van Helsing chasing Hide. It was alright. Much prefer this version. It's worth at least one viewing just to say you've seen it.
Best bits-Richard pretending to sneeze and spraying something on the guy, Hugh getting the crap scared out of him when someone yellled a stage direction, Hugh choking on a fly, Richard worrying about his groinal area when standing in the fireplace, Hugh killing himself laughing while dealing with the midget actor, Hugh's montage of "I'm OKAY!", Hugh and David getting "seasick", and of course, Van Halen.
This is from 2004 but it's already a classic. Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale are so good in this film, and actually all actors. Such good stuff in the early 2000's. Greetings from Argentina.
Tbh with the special effects, this movie was soooo ahead of its time. I still think this is one of the most entertaining "horror" movies ( I know it's not a real horror movie but c'mon, vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein's monster.. uff..) AND THE CAST WAS BLOODY AMAZING! Not one annoying actor. Kate is always a babe and Igor scared the shit out of me when I was younger.
4:12 *Van Helsing trying to be stealthy then hears background noises and bolts for it..* The part when Hugh Jackman is like i never trip.. *shows montage of him tripping during the set/scenes* hahahah xD
This movie was really good. Im not usually into movies that revolve around Vamps, Wolves, Frankenstein, etc but when I saw this, I felt that the way they portrayed each creature was very well done.
I watched this movie when I was like 12. Just rewatched it in 2016 and honestly I still love the movie! Low budget? Didn't seem like it to me, very good special effects best werewolf adaptation imo. Not to mention Hugh Jackman is awesome in this!
I don't care what everyone said , imo this movie is great, feel underrated tho. That crossbow machine gun hybrid is still my favorite weapon in this movie. Till this day I still love it
This is one of the best gag reels i've ever watched. Compared to something a Seth Rogan gag reel, where the entire reel is just actors laughing at themselves, flubbed lines and constant swearing, this one is a gem.
Carlo DeVito Jr Well...Universal is doing an Avengers-style mix of movies for monster characters, like the ones in this movie, so I can't help but feel that it's another attempt at this movie. The upcoming Mummy is part 1.
The avengers movies doesn't come close to Van Helsing. If they plan on doing something like these blockbusters that have come out recently it'd be better not doing it, they're gonna throw away a huge opportunity. Movies like this and Dracula Untold, for instance, don't get sequels yet a lot of crap does...
Carlo DeVito Jr, with the Van Helsing (2004), they were already expecting to kick off a Van Helsing franchise but the reviews and box office returns were so poor that they immediately cancelled a sequel.
@@pwnorbepwned Not any longer...Tom Cruise turning 'The Mummy' into 'Mission Impossible: Tom's Mummy' caused Universal to shut down their 'Classic Monsters' universe they planned to make...you can thank Tom Cruise.
This was an amazing movie......I do not know why isn't more popular? Two of my favorite actors are in it. The lovely Late Beckinsale and the amazing Hugh Jackman
I loved the movie... and now seeing the bloopers... good heavens they must have had fun! 2005 went to New York and saw the wax museum Van Helsing statue and loved the coat and every detail.... should have acted like a statue and once the place closed could have worn that outfit.. gees....
The movie came out in 2004 and 160 Million Dollar are actually high. I mean it's not very high but definetly high and that's not a personal opinion, it's a fact
Im impressed that they managed to pull off this movie it was amazing given the year for it Even though its low budget at that time it was a fantastic fucken movie i give props 2 all of them i loved this movie so much Van Helsing needs a remake or second movie.. Fantastic 4 is getting a new one.. i think we deserve more Hugh Jackman again as Van Helsing :D also i reckon Johnny dep would make a great Vampire/Dracular actor if there is another Van Helsing or Bill Nighy
My brother and I would watch this movie so many times and we loved it! I loved David Wenham and the actresses of Dracula's brides. Everyone is amazing in this movie. I really wished we had a Van Helsing 2.
Douchy McDouche I really hope u never get a kid in your life cause than they will be as idiot as you and you would be the worst terrible father in history.
dat scotsman Considering how few women are in the camera operator speciality it's pretty safe to say that was a dude. I really really doubt they'd go through the trouble of finding a female camera operator just so that Jackman would feel comfortable. In fact, if rumors about his sexuality are to be believed, he probably preferred the fact that it was a dude ;)
Low budget movie, maybe...but definitely have blockbuster feeling to it. Nevermentioned best Dracual performance movie wise....so...sequel, 2015 still waiting :)
I like this movie so much, that I would have wanted them to do the Van Helsing Triology with Hugh Jackman. Regardless of the criticism of the filmmakers!
Because the reviews and box office numbers were so disappointing that all plans for a sequel were cancelled. Anyways, I still love this movie no matter how poor it performed
I have seen this movie so many times and I really waiting for sequel with the almost same graphics and storyline and direction.... It would be better that if the same crew make sequel... One of my all time favorite movies
I love how they keep saying how its a low budget film, Since the film cost an estimated 160 million dollars to make. haha kind of an inside joke for the cast and crew.
Brilliant movie Kate is stunning as always Hugh Jackman they are all incredible actors . The vampire ball is just beautifully done . 👏🙏🏻 much love from 🇬🇧
Doesn't look like a low budget thou. I still remember watching this movie on theater screen with my parents and was maybe 14, it was pure awesome through my eyes. Now, a bit changed but still a good movie which I can watch without a hesitation.
I love how the smoking hot red head kept saying her line even after Kate laughed. Actors actresses know to keep going sometimes after someone messes up cause the director actually likes certain shots better if they go off the script. Its not always but sometimes. Which is why some people play through it
Wait wait wait WAIT!!!!! This is only a law budget movie!? Like serisouly!! This is one of the greatest movie i ever seen!!!! Greater thatn the twilight!!! (sorry wilight fans)
This movie had the best werewolf animation i've ever seen can't believe no other films have used this style of werewolf.

Goosebumps use a similar werewolf (sort of)
For real. I loved this style of werewolf the best.
This werewolf is a particular breed exclusive to this series
Am i the only one whom actually liked this movie? Honestly, i felt that this deserved far better reputation and maybe spiritual sequels
