2- the characters. Yep, they REALLY were there (even noctis and the new recipe guy) 3- vehicles.. well, there were bike sequences? Does that count? 4- music: 11/10 deliver 5- the plot.. not sure, there is a lot extra plot but the start of it 6- materia.. ok, it is not that advanced but it is there! (Aero that he asked for is there!) 7- Cloud's personality was nailed till now!
Renegade Scottista NO CURAGA for the death of final fantasy clap clap 👏 square enix was is worth killing the game? By dlc and racking in money? GAME OVER I'm done! Fuck Square enix man!
Unless they do it the right way. Honestly... it wouldn't take much to do. They already have a story (which takes a lot of time to write and tweak), the gameplay, the world, etc... all they literally need to do is create the HD graphics and apply it to all the 1990's epicness. If they try to appeal to the kid market, they'll only have their attention for a short amount of time before - squirrel! Look what's over here. Like Death said, us older gamers are the target market. I'm in my 40's and I remember spending almost an entire summer trying to master the game with my brother... then I find Death's RUclips channel and realize we were cute like idiots. i don't play games anymore but love watching people like Death who master the games I have such fond memories of. People that play those games the way I wish I could or did. If they did the Remake the same way but with updated graphics, it would be a success but they can't try doing it as some stupid hybrid or it'll not appeal to any target market and won't be accepted and SquareEnix will proclaim that it was a failure because we didn't buy it. Quite the contrary... I consider $59.95 to be too expensive for the advertised crap new version of the FF7 remake but would consider a true HD version of the old game that I know and love to be a bargain if it were $1000. If I could take what I know and just sit down and play the new remake the way I did the older version, no learning curve - that's worth a lot of money to me. Oh yeah, and SquareEnix... my generation - the generation that truly loves Final Fantasy 7 has money now and we'll gladly spend it if you give us what we want.
I wish I could give you so many likes on this video that it went viral. It's great to see you still so passionate about this. I share the same sentiments with you about this. Since the freaking tech demo of FF7 that was shown before advent children, we've all been waiting. Square come on, it's about time.
jagenigma I said when they released the intro FMV as a tech demo for the PS3 that they had the capability, time, people, and hype to make it then. Personally I dont think it is ever going to be released and if it is, it's like he says in the video, it's going to be a Frankenstein's monster of a game.
jagenigma games take years to make, making games for the PlayStation since the ps3 has been hassle I have done games programming abit at uni and understand how difficult it is the build and program games for it, they have moved to ps4 since then and game developers are taking years to make a game properly with little bugs. Look at gta 5 for example 1000 coders worked on it from all over the world that's huge Compared to final fantasy 7/8 team was prob about 200 max, anyway Ff7 was released buggy? They didn't want to touch the game and update it at risk of braking the whole game before release. How long will it take them to build and debug a 4k game? If its meant to be 60-100hour game 3 disc. Bug free we won't see Ff7 til 2025.
THE3NDER hype of what it was only a movie demo? No battle mechanics, no game engine, no nothing just a fucking movie done in some studio. Anyone can make a video of an old game and hash tag that out. It's was pure bait by square they were on the down at the time after poor sales, the downtrend began. Point is it was only a movie? Trailer and even that was an updated carbon copy of the original sqauresoft opening of Ff7. Sqaure enix didn't have to design much, and took square softs intro design.
@@JM-cf8zy "Hype of what?" You pretty much answered your own question, sir. A short little clip and the gaming community went fucking nuts. A potential FF7 remake was all FF7 fans would ever talk about half the time. And it all started with a little tech demo. That tech demo might not have been much but that hype was concentrated.
I wish people would just accept that advent children shouldn't be considered canon. The story quality is such a let down. It's a fun movie of course. But like.... The whole "Cloud retired to being some diseased emo delivery boy who abandons Tifa to raise Orphans." Nah dawg that's not my boy Cloud.
@@AArdW01f true. Like Cloud take the whole fucking game for character development. But no, they have to slap that character "re"development again. And what? Cloud in the main game already know he's not a soldier. But in Advent children he AGAIN said that he's ex-first class soldier. The hell was that?
Great video man. I feel the same way. Sadly, the worst part is people are going to play this before the true original and think "did people seriously think this was good?"
I’m 17, my dad lost his soul to this game long before I was even born so playing through it myself has been a spiritual experience. My party is only lvl 40, but so far this is one of my favorite games EVER. The remake has no chance of comparing to the original, but if nothing else I’ll enjoy seeing my favorite characters in HD :,)
It makes me sad to see death angry like this because I think what he says is 100% accurate. We want a game that can give that same awesome feeling we got from the original FF7 yet still be awesome in its own way
I appreciate that you voluntarily ate your own words on stream. It's great to see a game turn someone from being frustrated with it to being impressed and enjoying it.
I don't hate FF12/KH, but I just enjoy the slower pace of the first 10 FF games. My favourites being FF7, and FF10s gameplay. It might not be the most popular of opinions, but I'd really love a FF7 with modern graphics/character models, original gameplay, and with possibly more content to explore.
The new FF7 remake with the turn-based combat would've looked childish and retarded as hell. Just think about it. I know your preference but it's not coming back.
I still know that you're going to play the remake because the original means so much to you so you'll get over the fact that the combat isn't to your preference.
I really dont know why this video popped up on my home screen, but i watched it 5 years ago and watching it again now. Its so funny that just about all of the "Wants" have officially come to fruition. Even vehicles and an open-ish world.
This guy said it all. I hope Square Enix is listening. Having played FF7 since its original US release; I agree with everything he said. If I want a 'modern' experience, I'll buy a modern game. If you want to make money; give the audience what they want! Tinker too much with the original formula, and you may as well just make a whole new game. What we liked about FF7 was..... EVERYTHING! The only thing I want to see updated is the graphics and animations, and the replacement of the expository fmv's with actual voice-actor dialog. Don't touch the gameplay, combat system, materia system, etc. FF7 already has a winning combination; that's why it has endured this long. It's magic! Don't break the spell!
Gotta admit, you really outdid yourself with this video. I've noticed a growing trend among a large number of the FF fanbase that don't even care about the remake. It's been so long since Square announced anything, and the only rumours we've heard say that Square has pretty much deleted all their work so far. Square are rapidly turning into a joke in the gaming industry, they keep churning out tons of average games that nobody asked for, and are spending longer and longer developing their main releases only for them to be big let downs in the end. I also find it ironic that so many big companies don't understand that cash grabs usually end up making significantly less money than high quality products. Sure an indie company, or a new IP by a little known developer might struggle to make a profit, but a big company with a well known IP will always attract a lot of attention. If the game they make is average or plain terrible it will still probably turn a quick profit, but if it's a superb game then it will rake in the cash for years to come. Nintendo seem to be the only AAA company that know this.
Pokémon Go wasn't developed by Nintendo. Niantic made the game. Nintendo and the Pokémon Company just gave them backing. Nintendo were busy making Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
FFX was the last FF I played and enjoyed. I've tried the others after FFX and they're just not the same. The characters aren't as relatable. The stories are very Meh, The gameplay doesn't even feel like a Final Fantasy game. I've always had mixed feelings about the Remake. On one hand, I cannot wait to see my all time favourite game, in all it's HD, amazing graphics glory... Then on the other hand, I'm filled with absolute dread with how I know they're going to utterly destroy the game I love. I kinda hope they don't release it and FFVII can stay safe in 1997, in its text heavy, pixelated past where it's safe.
Jump in my time pod, I'm throwing in a PS1, FFVII, some of those hugs grape drinks and some tamagotchis, we lock the door and don't come out until this whole thing has blown over.
same here the last final fantasy game I played was FFX, the others just was not my style and they went mmorpg and from looking at preview footage of all the FF's after 10 I was not excited for any of them, I did buy 15 but I still have not played it, FF7 is the greatest game ever made and I hope Square's Team can deliver another remarkable experience in the remake. FF7 through FFX amazing games, would love to see the remake bring it back.
Same. X was fun and the last great FF imo. XII was decent and had a pretty unique take on turn based. Enough to have my respect. They lost me at XIII due to the linearity in the level design.
I must admit, I lost interest pretty quickly myself. I'm sure that I'll buy it if and when it comes out, but I forget that it's coming half the time now. Also, I couldn't agree more when it comes to Cloud's personality. The point of Cloud in FFVII is that he is confused about who he actually is, so instead of being himself he is playing the part of Zack: funny, but serious when it's needed.
I know you are holding back so i will say it for you. The materia system is the greatest magic/equipment system ever in the history of video games. If they change that to something that is class based i will kill someone
I hope you are being sarcastic. Especially with those made up %. But if not - you believe what you want to believe. But in any case. Final Fantasy 7 is going to get a remake. And I am not going to play it.
It was doomed the moment they made it a AAA title. An FFVII remake needs to be a middle market game. A proper remake is going to be somewhat of a niche title in the modern gaming scene. It's a big niche, but so much has changed it can't generate the hype and critical acclaim it would have gotten on the PS2 or PS3. They needed to take the same approach they took with FFIV on the DS. Update the graphics, give the game a new translation, fix some bugs, rebalance the game, voice some of the cutscenes. Hell, the 3DS and Vita would have been the perfect platforms for it. There's no reason not to release it on the PS4, Xbox One and PC, too, but it should have shown up on the major portable consoles. Hell, if they'd done it right, it could have been a killer app for the Vita. (Right now it'd be a must have on the Switch.) FFVII can't stand out in the AAA market without sacrificing everything that made it FFVII. If they come out with it, it's likely to be remembered as one of the most underwhelming remakes of all time. I'll probably still give it a chance, but as someone who likes traditional RPGs and would rather see a remake true to the game's roots, it's gonna have an uphill battle when it comes to earning my approval.
Doctor Faustus sadly, I'm pretty sure sqenix sees the remake as a potential luxurious cashcow and they wouldn't let it go so easy but a AAA title for even bigger profit. We can see what they want now with FFXV.
ive stumbled across your channel one night on a whim and i have been binge watching your videos lately.. i was thinking about revisiting FFVII again because of you, anyways great content and +1 sub. I think i got that itch to play VII again :-D cheers
@@dannylee6068 imo yes but it took a while to get into. People complain about characters and pacing, some of which are warranted. But the overall experience i found to be great.
Ever since Square mergered with Enix... it's become mostly shit. In my opinion I am still going to play any final fantasy game they make because they all can't suck right? RIGHT?!?!
Thunderbolt210 what do u mean gamers like me? Because my opinion is i like Squaresoft games more than Square Enix games, I didn't say they haven't made any good games but that Squaresoft made better games. I played ff1 when I was like 5 but it was one of my uncle's favorite game and I watched him play them, I would always watch him play these type of games when i was at his house every weekend. He passed away before the merger in 2002 so none of the games have had that experience with them.
Margarito Trevino Yeah we need more classic Squaresoft games like The Bouncer,Unlimited SaGa,Chocobo's Racing,Ehrgeiz,Aliens:Alien 2,Final Fantasy Mystic Quest,Another Mind and Front Mission Gun Hazard.
Finally found it. It's Nomura's fault that people are comparing Cloud to Vincent, since Nomura sees them as very similar, with Vincent only being much older and wiser (smacks forehead). Come on, Nomura! It's like Square forgot what they created back in 1997! A FUN GAME, not a mope-quest
I only wish that I could give you two likes instead of a single one. I’m 28 now and final fantasy 7 was the first game I purchased with the money I had saved from doing chores... I still own my copy and that game has a very special place in my heart and I hope someone at square Enix sees this video and takes it too heart. Don’t push for money, push for interesting gameplay, plot, and characters. Push the boundaries and know your fans will follow as long as you stay true to your craft. Thank you for this video and know many of us agree!
these videos are a good snapshot in time, when we couldn't understand or comprehend why SQEX would change the original FF7 for a Remake.. I was one of them, decided not to even register interest till I got to try the Remake demo, then it all changed...
"Materia, along with the crisp FMV's and the cerebral plot, are the reasons FFVII took off why it did." Thank you, death, the truth has been spoken. Also a fricking limit break system that made sense! (ALSO, THANK YOU, Cloud is FUNNY!)
The irony of Square becoming Shinra is not lost on us. FF7 was centered on people who fought against profit-seeking monsters in a world that blindly accepted those monsters in exchange for creature comforts. No corporation really wants to spread that message now.
I played through the original Final Fantasy 1 through 8 beat all of them and they are still good to replay but if we get a remake it's going to make them worse. Me, a twelve-year-old, replayed Final Fantasy 7, the original, for the 10th time and still think it was good.
I like kingdom hearts and all, it's one of my favorite games and is actually what got me interested in trying out Final Fantasy in the first place, but honestly square I don't want my Final Fantasy games to play like kingdom hearts, people like turn based rpgs damn it.
Kevin Henderson yeah I agree. Kingdom hearts combat is great, but so is FFs turn based combat. Persona 5 is proof that modern games can use turn based combat & still be successful
David Hagensten Graphics don’t make the game and it worked just fine with FXIII and no one really ever complained turn based looked weird with FFXIII’s looked real with its realistic look aside from being a bad game.
@@davidhagensten4264 yeah agree, it kinda ruin a lot of potential of the game for being a turn based but if that is what the fan want , we might just give them what they need unless they want to make VII Remake even a bigger success than the original
Final Fantasy 7 is defined by its flaws. Any attempt to upgrade its graphics, sound or gameplay will come at the expense of charm, character and player agency. It was never perfect, but that's why I love it. I agree completely with Death but this remake is not for the fans, just the accountants, and I'll still be playing the original long after the disappointing remake fades from all our memories.
Rik Swift The graphics mods are partly weird because out of battle the chibi models were portional to the background. I don't know how some of the more comedic elements are going to be handled like Yuffie's middle finger gesture or Cloud's dance. Or when Aerith dies how Cloud speaks what he's feeling.
Michael Lewis i hope they won't censor Yuffie's middle finger gesture T_T oh god Final Fantasy games nowadays lost their comical charm. Everything is so serious but it's lame tbh!
As long as they don't fuck up the story I won't be too chuffed. Multiplayer would be bad, but I think gold saucer Battle Square co-op battles and Chocobo Racing! :D That'd be fun.
I remember my first time playing "Final Fantasy XV" on PC, I waited years to play another Final Fantasy game, I was then shocked seeing how stupid it was not being able to use "boss summons" from the attack menu, boss summons in Final Fantasy XV are based on if your player has low health or RNG based(not player choice). I prefer playing FFVII turn based combat instead, it requires more strategy & player skill!
Thank you for saying this! 15 was very obviously a money grab. Cup Noodles anyone?? I think Square started out with good intentions but the development was so disastrous that they needed to slap together whatever they had and get some sponsorship to make their money back.. not saying it was right, but here we are. Also, you're spot on with world map exploration. Since its been axed from every game since 9 I can only assume the 7 remake will be the same. Honestly I havent felt the same about a Final Fantasy since world map exploration left.
The only form of multi-player I would find acceptable would be like ff5 and 6. You know let the second player control characters in battle by choosing who they control IN COMBAT. Not during any other part of the game. I also hope they play-test the game instead of releasing it and having us do it. I would like to get paid for testing a glitched uncompleted mess like they've been doing since ps3. IT'S GETTING OLD. I've stopped buying games when they come out "at full price". I wait for the price to drop because the game is more complete with less game breaking glitches for a cheaper price. I think that Final Fantasy ended after ps2 because of this crap. Unfinished games = garbage in my eyes. So I've no longer wanted to see it since 2015 when I heard that it was going to be multiple parts. Unless buying one guarantees you get all. I'll stick to the ps4 port unaltered and great. Not broken, mutilated, chewed up, and spit out. Love the channel though. I've seen several episodes and your opinion is great.
I'd be down for some couch co-op, you be Cloud and I'll be Tifa, I'll secretly love you and you can totally ignore me and play the golden saucer motorcycle game for way too long.
Michael Gray same here waited and bought it 2nd hand for PS4 pro about £5 on eBay and the game has been updated via the ps store, it's still looks dated compared to other titles on the PS4. Much better graphcally as is updated over the months. I won't be buying square games anymore sick of them, got the day one edition but that was updated and also had loads of DLC content shit to buy which I didn't? Then they release the royal edition and change bits of the game as they go along. Only played a £5 but won't risk them fucking Me on 7 remake at 65, especially if it's crap and buggy as hell like dissidia 2 is, what a shit beta that was square.
fabul0u519 You are correct sir, and I was aware of the ff9 couch co-op but many people aren't so I mentioned the more commonly known ones as a reference. But I'm happy someone said something about it.
Id be fine with something like super Mario odyssey's multiplayer. Aka stuff like leaderboards for the mini games. But couch co-op would be nice too. Maybe could invite steam friends if it gets a PC port
I am a grown man (30's ish) I played ff7 when I was 11 and fell in love with games from then on seeing them shit on the remake and turn it into a none turn based game hurt and your part at the end where you said " you promised to sit in that chair for us one last time" literally made me tear up. I have kids of my own now that are about to be pushing the same age I was when I found the fun life lessons of joy , lose , adventure and friendships. And to be able to share that same story in an updated version with me kids and get to see them taken away by the story like I did and having that opportunity to connect was something I was so happy about and I feel like that chance has been taken away😥. Anyway thank you for your awesome ff7 videos I just started a new game and your stuff is a great compaion for playing again
I’m not sure if you’ll read this but I really liked your segment about clouds personality I think it really applies to sepiroth as well because he has turned from a crazy madman that laughs all the time to batting away threats with his narcissism to a quiet somber villain
Square Enix is listed as the dev for OT at least, alongside Acquire. Bravely was made by Silicon Studio but was originally meant to be an FF title and was developed with that spirit in mind.
Where is that listing? Wikipedia? As far as I know, OT begin under Silicon Studio, and was then reassigned to Acquire. There are no SE division laborers working on the game. As for Bravely - what the game was developed to be is hardly relevant to the complaint of 4-8, that SE don't seem to know how to make old school jrpgs/FF games anymore. I agree that Bravely is very similar to the older FF games though, and it's a big reason I like it. I would say it lacks something in terms of dramatic impact that was a big part of older FF games. Its light-hearted tone is a lot more reminiscent of the DQ series than FF, although mechanically and in terms of its presentation, it stays close to classic FF. The reason I mentioned this at all though, is because of the defense that many people make in reply to the claim that SE don't make "good rpgs anymore". While I agree that claim is wrong, I think it's a problem with the phrasing, not the intent of the complaint. The claim, agree with it or not, should be "SE's Square divisions are no longer making good RPGs", and the fact is that while it's reasonable to disagree with that if you like FFXIII or FFXV, the vast majority of the games considered good past the merger have not been made by the Square divisions in charge of the FF brand - they've been made by third party companies, and by the Enix branch. Bravely and OT would be examples of this, so they're hardly appropriate to raise as examples to defend the direction the Square divisions of SE have gone the last 1-2 decades.
Best video ever made about this topic, and you got an Instant subscribe You literally said EVERYTHING I wanted to say for a long time My hype got smashed since the non turn-based battle system was announced.. sad to see such a great game being remade by the new company of SE and not the great SS.. We need Sakaguchi back in his leading place..
Hey, Death! Yoseph_gui here! I just want to say that i loved this video because you have put in words our feelings, the old gamers from the golden era of jrpg. I totally agree with you. Amazing video, amazing passion. You represent me and I want you to be brazil next president. You have my vote!
I’m calling it: Vincent & Yuffie will be DLC as well as alternative costumes and probably even the Gold Saucer being added as an expansion. Oh, and probably even a summon or two.
I love FF, but what I've seen of XV put up, it's put me off. A couple of friends that played the game and completed it said it just wasn't worth it, and that it was wise I didn't get it.
The thing is, Square had to make an incredible and groundbreaking game when they created ff7. After that every gamer in the world knew about them. Today, Square Enix is a huge franchise with a global fanbase. They don't need to create a global brand, they ARE one. So they can get away with whatever the fuck they want. That's the difference. The people who inherited the legacy of Square are not the same people who built it, and because of that they aren't as personally invested in it. For them it's just a moneygrab. In my opinion that's why FF started declining immediately after FF9, when the original talents started leaving. I think this is a good case study of what happens when a company becomes a franchise and a lesson in curbing your expectations and refusing to reward said businesses. Don't ever be loyal to a game franchise.
You literally have 2 videos on how to beat emerald and ruby weapon without pressing a button. How are you going to complain about using an exploit to beat a super boss in ff15?
I agree with every single thing you said. They need to bring back world maps in FF games. Where the character is small and traversing this huge map. Also, there needs to be some static camera angles. Not all areas, but in some areas in order to add to the mystique of that area. It makes it more memorable.... like a painting that you can visit. Also the music needs to be more "jingle" like......like it used to be. So it's more memorable.
oh god, they will add DLC at every section. New materia? DLC! Want to recruit Vincent? Mansion DLC! Want to breed chocobos? DLC! Need to reach the final area to defeat Sephiroth and beat the game? DLC! T-T
Alex Corona additional costumes etc, stickers for the air ship, banners, hats, stupid items and more £££ cash grabbing sqaure enix are laughing there socks off in the board room.
Square Enix only thinks short term, they only care about making the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time. I got too hyped for FFXV and was very disappointed by the end product. I will not repeat that mistake with the remake.
With CC2 being booted off the project it makes me wonder if we're ever even going to get it. I understand if Nomura wants to get KH3 out first, but the lack of info of what's going on inside is really worrying. Come back to your glory days Square, If this ever comes out, please listen to the fans.
Ziddy is the game flawed? Is too much going on in the battle mechanics? In 4k? It sounds like it's feel dated, that's what they were reporting before they sacked cyber connect 2, was it didn't feel right and wasn't ready for release yet, then they sack them. My opinion the idea of hack and slash and magic materia use and summons looks shit in 4k and doesn't flow properly and they should of stuck with turned based rpgs, square have messed up big time.
Ziddy they had same problem with dirge of cerberus, that was action rpg and the only ff game to give me motion sickness 🤒, as its wasnt turn based. It was a solo hack and slash and was proper crap, in the name of Ff7 as well a travisty of a game d.o.c was terrible. Boring, slow, and I believe they sqaure enix have the same problem as the same idea approach has been taken for moving Ff7 over to action rpg. It just doesn't feel right to play Ff7 in full 3d in 4k that's my opinion it will look odd, feel odd, flow odd. I'm still up for it, but not expecting a great classic like the original rpg. What a classic!
Can you possibly do a full video on the subject that Cloud is *not* emo? And if you've already done one, can you point me in the direction of it? I really think that this is a topic that deserves and warrants a full, dedicated video. And if anyone is capable of presenting the case thoroughly, it's you, I think.
How can we get this video sent to square enix? I think they would appreciate something like this? 4-8 thank you for making this video, you nailed it! Keep up the great work.
Well said. I couldn't agree more. I've actually gotten a lot of flack for expressing these very sentiments. In my experience, people tend to take statements like these, and their mental filtering processes overexaggerate them such that they somehow come to the conclusion that you want literally the exact same game that already exists with nothing new or different about it at all, and then accuse you of trying to hold back the rest of the gaming world for the sake of your nostalgia goggles. It's honestly frustrating as all hell. I've given up hope on this remake ever since they announced that it wasn't going to be turn based and is going to have an emphasis on stealth. And because everyone I know is so uncreative and short sighted that they can't personally imagine any way that it could be anything other than the exact same thing all over again if it remains turn based, they actually think this is a good thing to turn it into an action RPG... "Just go play the original then", they say. If they want to make another action RPG, that's fine... but then have it be Final Fantasy XVI or something. You don't just remake a game and then totally change its genre. It would be like if Rare remade Goldeneye (supposing they were still around to do so), but announced that it was going to be a platformer instead. Like, you just don't do that. It spits in the face of the fanbase to whom this game ought to be aimed, effectively telling us to go fuck ourselves... Much like how Sega gives the middle finger to everyone who's a fan of the old pre-'99 Shining Force games. Although *that's* due to bad blood between Sega and the devs of those original SF games rather than the devs themselves just being all like "Screw the rules, I have money."
If they would just make the game remastered in HD and gave the characters a real look instead of polygons and maybe voice acting to but all gameplay, world map & battles all original as an old fan of FF7 I would still buy it and enjoy the hell out of it. When I heard it was gonna be in episodes I instantly lost all excitement for the game
i've already come to the conclusion that this isn't a remake. what we're getting is Tetsuya Nomura's version of FF 7. I mean seriously how can it be called a remake if they've changed the combat system that much.
15:40 actually im 13 , and i love playing ff7. I played it back then on the playstation ( my elder brother , who is 23 , bought it so i also played it). Even now im playing it on a emulator on pc. I already finished the game and defeated emerald and ruby weapon , without any tricks by my own ( only 3 h after you could go into the north crater ). I didnt used any summons against ruby weapon , just with 4 cut , and beated him in about i think 30 min. Emerald weapon i used final attack and phoenix and rest i got him with omnislash and kotr ( kotr was on level 1 so i only used it once with hp absorb). It was so great , i would love to see the remake , as you do.
Knowing the story of how Final Fantasy came to be makes this video even more relevant. The love that went into the earlier games is gone. Just as every other good franchise, someone with dollar signs in their eyes comes along and completely ruins it for all the fans to maximize profitability (Looking at you EA). At the end of the day, I know I will enjoy the remake for the sake of revisiting my childhood and seeing it all again in a new light. However, I also am worried it will forever ruin my fond memories of this game.
So frustrating, and I agree with most of your points. I'm not sure what they are doing. All they had to do was just update the graphics really, and offer in some optional cool side quests that delve into some of the smaller plot points like Lucrecia or Yuffie's dad. Things that wouldn't break canon and give them some cool ways to explore new ideas. Seriously, do the majority of the people this remake appeals to even want all the trouble a new battle system or voice acting bring? They just seem like massive time sinks for not just little gain but actually risk alienating the very people most likely to buy the game. Materia was and remains an almost perfect system, and that should be the single most important thing they leave alone and just expand. Honestly my only real hope now will be for a PC release that can be hopefully modded into something of a true remake that keeps the soul of the original. It's like Square has no idea who are the people who've been clamoring for this for years!
lonewulf44 well said but they didn't get magic correct in ff15 in my opinion it was hassle to craft, store, equip and use in battle and I don't see how sqaure are going to pull it off using magic and material in Ff7 remake in action based? They are only so many button on the PS4 Controller the xbox controller, it was crap magic in 15 so wonder how they are going to incorporate the materia and magic into the battle system if its similar as it was hassle in 15. Going in and out of menus and screens to get to the materia and combinations and going back in and out of battles could be hassle and take the user out of the experience if its a 4k master piece, I don't wanna stop start every 5mins. I think that's why they stripped magic out of ff15 as it flows better the hacking slashing without? Sqaure need to look at it, obviously cyberconnect2 didn't do a good job of brining it all together, I think the game will be flawed and that's what slowing development down, as in its a clunky system.
Splitting the materia and magic into 4 categories and storing them on the bumper buttons would be a good option, allowing the user to select either lb1, lb2, rb1, rb2 to select transparent magic menus, no sodding about just a straight selection and execution, I dont wanna have to Do cast crap like in ff15, pressing down on a dpad very boring and uninspiring. Bring some menus back transparent ones for Ff7!ll
I also want to say that saying the materia system was "near perfect" is very subjective. Personally I hate the materia system and think that it makes for very bland gameplay until towards the end of the game where you can start making interesting combinations. It terms of pure gameplay FF7 is one of the worst imho. I do like the darker characters and story aspects that contrast the FF's that came before it though.
The points made here are objectively right in terms of yes this is what needs to happen, but I don't feel like the overall negative presentation is warranted anymore, particularly given that it seems like they are going to do a lot of this list. The game is going to be the whole story, it seems like there is going to be a significant amount of expansion the story and character work, the materia system is in there and looks like it has even more depth (hope I'm not wrong on that one - we'll see. But we do know it is definitely there), yes the combat system is revamped but for the most-part it is a dynamic, real-time ATB gauge system, just like the original (the main new addition seems to be the ability to just freely move around, which I think is a nice addition. I don't feel the need to have the characters just standing there. I'm happy to play the older games for that) and all the snippets of what we've seen so far really do look extremely faithful. I mean the sector raid opening sequence looks to be identical, as is the boss. The soundtrack work that is being done is also fantastic. Each track is being re-recorded, and different versions are being made to dynamically transition in and out of action. I hope this channel is going to give props if they pull this game off properly, given how much they've shat on it.
very nice video, my first FF game was back in 1991 i think it was FF2, and ever since am a huge fan of FF, but when FF12 came out I starting to see many changes into the real foundation of FF, then FF13 happen ( BTW I loved the FF13 saga the story, even game play) so much has changed, i knew the old FF game play will be forgotten, then came out FF15 ( I only LOVED the graphics, even loved the summon but SquareEinx fucked it all up when they made it random ), then I saw a game play of FF 7 remake and pretty sure it will be a action RPG then I have LOST all my love to Square soft, many DLC's FF main foundation was in it turn base RPG, to use summon WHENEVER I WANT ( Fvck FF 15, or the person who decided to make summon coming in random), to have VERY VERY hard bosses, to be so much complicated until you know what is going on, anyway I will never stop writing if I keep going, seriously if you love FF, DONT buy the new one, just go back to the old one and play it, there you will find the love of making good game, not the love of making game to make good money.
This is exactly why i love your content. You say everything I've ever thought about on the topic (and even that which I've forgotten) and so much more. Well said!
Personally, I have no issue with being charged full price for each "episode" if the games are long episodes and they approach it like the Mass Effect series. It would be cool if the first disk gets expanded on to the point until it's own full game; basically have the same story but more detail, extra lore and story thrown in between the main plot points. And then you can transfer your save into the next episode. You make great videos man. I've been following you for years but never commented.
BoostCTRL hope not I want a final fantasy game not a mass effect 2 year game. To slow down Ff7 and give out only 33% and split that into 3 games could kill the overall flow and feel of the game and its original story. And slow down its urgency and story progression. Padding it out sound cool but dragging it out like mass effect could become a bore fest.
A lot of your concerns are based on things that you've presumed. I can tell that you are passionate about the topic but I seriously doubt your ability to research with any due diligence. 1. The car in the FFXV can be flown around the map just as in any final fantasy end game with secret map locations as per the norm 2. Music should be recorded to the best of it's potential. In older formats it took too much space on the discs so sounds were compressed, we live in a time where this is no longer an issue. All music can be performed by an orchestra and recorded in surround sound. I strongly believe it should be done for this kind of game. 3. We have no details on the plot or characters, it is unfair to suggest that it will be missing parts or redone to change personalities. If anything, having the game come out in stages increases the likelihood that all of the story will be included. 4. DLC is the reality of the gaming scene now. I assure you that if companies could have done it successfully in the 90's, they would have. 5. Multiplayer is a point of contention, but again it is a case of where the technology is nowadays. I would actually be surprised if it was included as it doesn't fit the game, but the success of MMO games in recent times could be a market that Square Enix want to earn more from. Other than that, I mostly agree with you
Well of course everything is presumed, the game doesn't exist yet. Even things said by Square might not be true as the game is still in development (and will be for some time). I do agree I could have done more research before this video, but this video was more encapsulating my feelings on the subject, it was not supposed to be a 100% complete guide to the remake or anything like that. At any rate I'll answer your points here: 1. I know it can fly, it still sucks. 2. It's kind of silly of me to think the game would have the same soundtrack, but a boy can dream. It should have its own soundtrack, I can listen to the old one whenever I want. But hey, it should at least sound similar am I right 3. True, but I seriously doubt characters/plot elements won't be altered, it always happens. If they thought about removing Wall Market already, they will have no problem removing other things. 4. DLC sucks but your comment is true. There's no reason they shouldn't have DLC, but as I've read in about 100 other comments on this video, if they put something main like Weapon Fights or characters as DLC, people will be upset. 5. Multiplayer shouldn't be added, go play God of War Ascension and try to disagree with me. Good game, but could have been great had they stuck to the Single Player format, and they obviously realized their mistakes in future releases. Thanks for the support my man 👍
I am with you 100% on your views on the FFVII Remake. I am actually afraid Square-Enix will release it and it will suck so bad I will lose faith in all games made by them ever again. They sold out if you ask me. I hope your video goes viral and Square-Enix listens to you and all of us FFVII fans out there that want an ACTUAL REMAKE with the original plot and leave it uncensored without the bullshit DLC.
"Maybe something like 2020 I don't care" He was right on the money
2- the characters. Yep, they REALLY were there (even noctis and the new recipe guy)
3- vehicles.. well, there were bike sequences? Does that count?
4- music: 11/10 deliver
5- the plot.. not sure, there is a lot extra plot but the start of it
6- materia.. ok, it is not that advanced but it is there! (Aero that he asked for is there!)
7- Cloud's personality was nailed till now!
The best fanservice is to actually listen to fans.
Ding ding ding!
This comment made me extremely happy but sad at the same time.
Well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!
people lament about Cidney but want the game with TIFA in it... lol...
Yea. And a ton of fans no longer wants turn based final fantasys. The series is progressive. Period.
Berserk will end before the remake comes out.
Anime is Trash lol
hell naw man berserk is never gonna end ahahah you silly
Berserk, Gunnm/Battle-Angel-Alita, and Game of Thrones(books). Hell, we will be playing Half-Life 3 before the remake!

No amount of remedies can cure Death's disappointment about SquareEnix now.
This comment aged like milk...
Personally I dont think it is ever going to be released and if it is, it's like he says in the video, it's going to be a Frankenstein's monster of a game.
jagenigma agreed
jagenigma games take years to make, making games for the PlayStation since the ps3 has been hassle I have done games programming abit at uni and understand how difficult it is the build and program games for it, they have moved to ps4 since then and game developers are taking years to make a game properly with little bugs.
True Cloud always came off as cocky in FF7 Original in the remake he looks depressed
he came off as a cross dressing emo kid in the original
@@michaeltreu4152 Cross dresser? Yep. Emo? Hell no.
I wish people would just accept that advent children shouldn't be considered canon. The story quality is such a let down. It's a fun movie of course.
But like.... The whole "Cloud retired to being some diseased emo delivery boy who abandons Tifa to raise Orphans."
Nah dawg that's not my boy Cloud.
@@TheFrenchmanCooks you forget were talking about humanity here
So uh...
Jon The Doodle Guy oh it has a chance :)
To be honest, I've been pessimistic about the remake since I found out that battles aren't turn based.
Ukraine James I agree with you.
I don't care if it's not coming back, It's just my preference.
I still know that you're going to play the remake because the original means so much to you so you'll get over the fact that the combat isn't to your preference.
Final fantasy 7 microwave edition 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm on board! 😂😂😂😂😂
I need on for my Samsung refrigerator that spewes off ice evertime I die or get a glimpse of tifa
The most profitable franchise in the world. “Pikachu used thunderbolt on onyx... nothing happened”
Square “ no one likes turn based battle anymore”
As previously mentioned I feel as though the negativity present here didn't age very well....
Agreed
I don't know bro Capcom did pretty good with the Resident Evil 2 remake it's possible it can be done right just saying
I agree, except I wouldn't compare RE2 with FFVII...that's like comparing Fried Chicken with Carbonara lol
Michael Hill yeah nintendo never disappoints! I mean I forgot about Pokemon Go.
4-8Productions sounds like a plan! 😀
same here the last final fantasy game I played was FFX, the others just was not my style and they went mmorpg and from looking at preview footage of all the FF's after 10 I was not excited for any of them, I did buy 15 but I still have not played it, FF7 is the greatest game ever made and I hope Square's Team can deliver another remarkable experience in the remake. FF7 through FFX amazing games, would love to see the remake bring it back.
I played XII after X and really like it. I also liked XIII but I couldn't relate to any of the characters, story or the sequels.
Same.
X was fun and the last great FF imo.
XII was decent and had a pretty unique take on turn based. Enough to have my respect.
They lost me at XIII due to the linearity in the level design.
You have summarized exactly what I have been feeling for years. Exactly. Subscribed
Thanks for the support! ;)
In the remake cloud actually fights exactly like Zack did in crisis core
I know you are holding back so i will say it for you. The materia system is the greatest magic/equipment system ever in the history of video games. If they change that to something that is class based i will kill someone
Lol so dumb
Waiting to see you on the news...
"I'd like to get a Hojo cackle and Wedge splat to go please." HAHAHAHAH amazing.
Death needs to a reaction video to this now that the game has been released

knightshousegames Really?CNN didn’t report it
Daniël wo0o0o0sh xP
(Right now it'd be a must have on the Switch.)
FFVII can't stand out in the AAA market without sacrificing everything that made it FFVII.
YEEEEEEEEEEHAW HERE WE GO
They should hire you as a consultant on the remake, so they get it right.
ive stumbled across your channel one night on a whim and i have been binge watching your videos lately..
i was thinking about revisiting FFVII again because of you, anyways great content and +1 sub.

In my youth, "Final Fantasy" meant quality. But ever since XIII, I found that not to be true.

Ever since Square mergered with Enix... it's become mostly shit. In my opinion I am still going to play any final fantasy game they make because they all can't suck right? RIGHT?!?!
Margarito Trevino what are you talking about. The merger actually made the company better. I can’t stand gamers like you god
Actually Square went downhill before they merged with Enix. Enix at least brought some fresh air into the company
ArchoNils Privat Yeah excluding Star Ocean V all of the Enix games have been good. The best Dragon Quest games came out after the merger.
I Guess I would prefer they make a ‘remaster’ instead of a ‘remake’. Don’t wanna see they spoil the classic.
I can see it already: Ruby ans Emerald weapon gonna be Dlc. 14,99 each and you gonna be able to oneshot Them
these videos are a good snapshot in time, when we couldn't understand or comprehend why SQEX would change the original FF7 for a Remake..
[this is generalrevan from your twitch, btw, keep up the good work]
The irony of Square becoming Shinra is not lost on us.
Wuuuut?
1 thing I want, do not change Tifa's ... Hmmm "personality"
ahh i see
Luiz Paulo Freitas hey dont worry i dont think they changed her personality or her titties
Brennan Connelly square wants the remake to look realistic and realistic looking games do not work well with turn based combat
Turn based is awesome, but unfortunately it won’t come back. It’ll just look kinda dumb and silly with graphics these days.
Rik Swift You're right have you seen the steam port's "This guy is sick". That was weird.
I can live with that, I just don't think FF7 can withstand a remake whilst retaining its charm. Even the graphics mods freak me out!
Ultima fork materia 😂😂😂
newport dragon gotta be a path of exile support gem ref? one of the main reasons I enjoyed poe, the skill gem system reminded me of materia
As long as they don't fuck up the story I won't be too chuffed. Multiplayer would be bad, but I think gold saucer Battle Square co-op battles and Chocobo Racing! :D That'd be fun.
It was very interesting to watch this video in 2022.
May 2020.
Very glad Death changed his mind and in love with Remake ;)
UPD: And even more glad that Square made an impossible
Okay... so what are your thoughts now?
I remember my first time playing "Final Fantasy XV" on PC, I waited years to play another Final Fantasy game, I was then shocked seeing how stupid it was not being able to use "boss summons" from the attack menu, boss summons in Final Fantasy XV are based on if your player has low health or RNG based(not player choice). I prefer playing FFVII turn based combat instead, it requires more strategy & player skill!
Funny how after all this time you guessed the actual release date
FF9 has a co-op mode too you know. I don't know why so many people don't know that. Its the first time the numbered series allowed that.
fabul0u519 You are correct sir, and I was aware of the ff9 couch co-op but many people aren't so I mentioned the more commonly known ones as a reference.
Thanks
I’m not sure if you’ll read this but I really liked your segment about clouds personality I think it really applies to sepiroth as well because he has turned from a crazy madman that laughs all the time to batting away threats with his narcissism to a quiet somber villain
Thanks!
Thoughts on Bravely series and Octopath Traveller? I think youd like them?
furinkazan88
They're good games. But they're not SE games. They're only published by SE, made by other companies.
Glad to see you back my dude. With non-Lets Play stuff. I'm hopeful for the Remake but it's just been so long with almost no news.
Best video ever made about this topic, and you got an Instant subscribe
You literally said EVERYTHING I wanted to say for a long time
My hype got smashed since the non turn-based battle system was announced.. sad to see such a great game being remade by the new company of SE and not the great SS..
I wanted the remake turn based.
Dei Horus and about 100 million others wanted tb too!
Sorry bud, here's a bite of a turd sandwich but look it says Sephiroth on the wrapper.
I purposefully didn’t watch for remake videos because I didn’t want to ruin my experience.
Glad i didn’t.
To (mis) quote Doc Brown: "I wish they'd never built that infernal Tech Demo. It's caused nothing but misery."
Can someone share this and tag square in hopes that they actually listen? If ff7 is anything like I think it will, my faith in square is gone.
It's a shame I only see Cloud as an emo so I would love to see him as a charismatic hero! Awesome video!
Bringing the fantasy a bit of REALITY
I’m calling it: Vincent & Yuffie will be DLC as well as alternative costumes and probably even the Gold Saucer being added as an expansion. Oh, and probably even a summon or two.
Finally, someone else who didn't like FFXV!
I couldn't get into XV, did not enjoy it!
I do also agree with your points.
'Finally'??? Dude.. the vast majority of Final Fantasy fans fucking despised VX.. you don't have to look hard to find others..
cloudxsoldier fair play bud.... I've gotta say I haven't seen much hate for the game. But damn am I glad! Hahaha
I love FF, but what I've seen of XV put up, it's put me off. A couple of friends that played the game and completed it said it just wasn't worth it, and that it was wise I didn't get it.
FfXV I thought was one of the worst games in the series
Thanks for this comment, I always wondered why everything after 9 was bad, that was the big turning point for me, now i know
This is probably my favorite ff7 channel like maybe ever
I love FF15. Fight me. (Seriously i would love to discuss and defend my opinion) i also love 12 7 and 10-2.
You literally have 2 videos on how to beat emerald and ruby weapon without pressing a button. How are you going to complain about using an exploit to beat a super boss in ff15?
Specially since before the ring was patched you had to spend like two hours fighting the boss
Is the microwave port available on Amazon?
there's so much resignation in this rant it almost hurts.
The biggest red flag was how early they announced it.
oh god, they will add DLC at every section.
Cosmetics DLCs are fine but I hope not for the features :(
Dude man. It was all over when Enix took over.
Thank you defender of good times!
Preach my brother take us back to the good ole days 7 thru X
Well said!
YEEEHA HERE WE GO
got me laughing. Great video!
Yes to every single point! I so wish this video could reach someone at square that could make this happen.
A lot of your concerns are based on things that you've presumed. I can tell that you are passionate about the topic but I seriously doubt your ability to research with any due diligence.
1. The car in the FFXV can be flown around the map just as in any final fantasy end game with secret map locations as per the norm
At any rate I'll answer your points here:
1. I know it can fly, it still sucks.
2. It's kind of silly of me to think the game would have the same soundtrack, but a boy can dream. It should have its own soundtrack, I can listen to the old one whenever I want. But hey, it should at least sound similar am I right
Thanks for the support my man 👍
I’ll be dead before this game is released
So, are you?
Jordan Vargas lmao
I am with you 100% on your views on the FFVII Remake. I am actually afraid Square-Enix will release it and it will suck so bad I will lose faith in all games made by them ever again. They sold out if you ask me. I hope your video goes viral and Square-Enix listens to you and all of us FFVII fans out there that want an ACTUAL REMAKE with the original plot and leave it uncensored without the bullshit DLC.
