Radahn is really cool, but people dont give Morgott enough credit. The dude was not only graceless, cursed, and essentially a pariah, but was able to hold the title of lord of Lyndell and defend it. Man goes crazy.

This would have put him on Morgott’s shit list since he considers all of the demigods who possess a great rune to be traitors. Also based off the red hair and those gauntlets I’m very sure that’s Radahn.

He did a lot worse. In Japanese Folktales, it's believed that one's soul can be torn out from one's ass. The Loathsome Dung Eater appears to have done that many times in his desire to "curse the world".

I really thought the Tarnished that were introduced were all gonna be the main bosses of the game, not a mix of optional bosses and side npc quests. Its a nice contrast from the intro in DS3

Amazing storytelling in my eyes, the essence of a true RPG narrative. You start off not knowing a single thing, until you start exploring, the wonder, the mystery, the self discovery. Then you start NG+ and you find even more to discover. Haven't felt vibes like that since Morrowind.

I still remember how this opening made me feel as a new player. It tells this epic tale of all powerful demigods, corrupted by slivers of divine power and who razed the lands between in pursuit of more. Then it introduces the tarnished, dead who are brought back to life in hopes that we can restore peace. The chieftain of the only lands worse than the lands between, a man who's brilliance probably refers to his signature golden mask, a necrophiliac, a man literally called the "Loathsome Dung Eater", and Sir Gideon the Know-it-all. And after a long, deafening silence, us. A person so unnoteworthy our name isn't even known. It really gave a feeling of "You are A chosen one, not THE chosen one. You were chosen not because you stand a chance, but because you are the only chance left."
The interesting thing is that three of these tarnished all have a questline for a different mending rune, and the new age changes names depending on those runes.

Now that we have the dlc trailer - it's worth noting that Godfrey (horalaux) is impaled on a dead looking tree. Could likely be a result of a battle with Mesmer.
These shorts are dead ass making me want an elden ring show that takes place before the tarnished show up, and the very end of the show is after everything, just before we get there and it fades to black and you just hear “The fallen leaves tell a story” then cuts to the credits with the games main menu theme playing.
Spoiler!! Interesting how the game literally told us in the first seconds how Marika broke the Elden Ring and how Radagon tried to fix it. After the final fight this was so unexpected
I love how elden ring casually created a character of renowned depravity. The loathsome dungeater. We all laughed at first, but then that first encounter sent chills down my back. I felt as though he could actually reach through the television and kill me.
The walking mausoleum sounds while the narrator talks convinced me that the tarnished really is a slayn, forsaken demigod of Marika just like the ones the other mausoleums hold. The mausoleums' purpose is stated to be protecting these children of Marika until their revival. In the cutscene we seem to wake up in the mausoleum which gates open. Idk how we get to the Chapel of Anticipation but we see teleportation and materialization all the time throughout the game so to be involuntarily transported there seems possible. Gideon says "a man cannot kill a god" and that he "feels this in his bones". This is coming from the guy whose nickname is "all knowing" btw. He could be just wrong but it feels like the game implies that you the tarnished are able to kill a god because you are in fact not a man.
I always thought the first part was pretty solid but then they made a mistake not explaining the demi gods more, but mentioning the other Tarnished. I see now those characters and their quests lead you to understand the world more than any opening card could. What an unbelievable studio.
I have a hypothesis which (as far as I know) is only supported in this cinimatic. The lands between is a sort of heaven very similar to the western continent in the Lord of the rings. You can see when the narrator tells the tarnished to arise, every one is seen dead except for fia.
