Bro same, the design was so different from all the other bosses. Everytime I was fighting him there was this constant fear in the back of my mind about this giant fucking skull with fangs attached to a galactic dragonfly body. Also his teleport grab 1shot attack is total BS imo. I found a way to break that attack tho. Run next to a wall so that the wall is on your right or left side with him in front of you. placidusax was such a blast playing as a strength build, the flow of the dance towards the end was something to behold. The fight even ended on a double KO, I can't wait to fight them again in NG+
Double ko endings to a fight are the best way to end a battle in elden ring, it feels like you both have accomplished a goal that only one of you could reach.
Placidusax was probably the most epic fight as a melee character I've ever had, I almost want to say more than Midir. When the music stops when he plunges his massive red lightning spear into the biggest AEO I've ever seen, comboing into double laser breath caused me to giggle it was so cool
@@zestycrunchman602 I’m with ya on both, I loved Elden beast specifically. Had to actually use the camera in a meaningful way while maneuvering was a fun twist imo. But then again I’m just weird and wanted to watch as much of the animations as possible 😅
@@zestycrunchman602 These bosses are cool for sure, but for a meele build every boss that is so big that you can basically just hit its feet is awful. Like I can't see shit on whats going on. The ancient dragons probably were the worst offenders in this game since you can only lock on to their heads. Like hello im down here why tf would I lock on to the head. So unfun and tedious...
Ancestor spirit is like the Divine dragon from Sekiro. Ethereal visuals, stellar ost, and just... a tranquil feeling when beating it the first time. Really shows that fromsoft's still got it (and piss easy)
@@kirbo603 honestly yea i gotta admit, the most stunning bosses are smh easy af. Which is why I like to purposely handicap myself to take a moment to enjoy the scenery
It honestly felt like fighting wasn't what this creature was for Even the music is hinting at this we are killing a peaceful creature trying to rest peacefully.
I just beat the game today and I have to agree with placidusax being at 1. Homie gave me a tough time and it took a few attempts but rolling through his sweeping air attacks and his airstrike lightning attacks it was amazing. Especially the arena he’s in. The slowmo lightning in the back just added onto the awesomeness.
He is just so cool the cutscene and the attacks and just the overall look is just so badass the only thing I absolutely HATE is the long runback every time I die and its just extremely annoying nearly killing him each try and then dying then going down the elevator, sprinting past the enemies then do all of the parkour down it’s the only thing bad about it and it’s not even something wrong with the boss itself
Fun fact on the rykard fight you can pick up the weapon when you enter the fight and then fast travel to go upgrade its level then come back so it’ll work even better!
I like fighting mohg, he had a cool second phase and I'm amazed that you can actually ignore his triple ring blood attack by using a certain crystal for your mixed physick vial
All Omen bosses have some kind of weakness. You may use Margit's chain to stun Margit and Morgott and there's one for Mohg too. That's really helpful if you get stuck at them
Technically if you're a masochist, just really carried away with exploration, or on NG+, both godrick and rennalla are optional since all you need to progress the story are 2 great runes. Where you get the great runes is entirely up to you.
you can probably even skip the secret medallion thingy too, a friend of mine fell off a cliff and got into the consecrated snowfields without even getting the other half of it, the moment he realized it he ran to find the nearest grace he can find lol
Fallingstar was one of my toughest walls in my first playthrough, exposing all of my weaknesses as a player. Going back and being able to defeat it soundly was extremely gratifying. Just a really cool boss mechanically and aesthetically, now that the dust has cleared and my salt has been washed away
Elemer the Briar is like if Jason Vorhees was a Dark Souls character. And in case you haven't found out by now, you can encounter versions of him as a boss fight at Isolated Merchant shacks at night (and one at the Church of Vows). They're called "Ball Bearing Hunters".
Placidusax was the ruler or Elden Lord in the first age and worshipped the original God of the Lands Between, before the Greater Will invaded the planet and assumed control by force. After his God's defeat and exile, he sealed himself away in the storm beyond time to await his God's return, presumably for eternity since time does not pass for him and his God is likely never able to return unless we aid it somehow. Would be a cool DLC to search for the primordial God in exile and enable it to return home.
@@BurnTheThreshold I may not have gone as far as to fight the big guy, but even I think that would be an awesome addition to the game as dlc. I haven't even completed the game once yet and I am already hoping an expansion to the Lands Between will come. I am hooked on it.
The Tree Spirits were surprising as at first it seems like they would be incredibly hard to read or dodge but honestly they are very easy to read and dodge even when clipping through a wall lol. The Twin blade Gargoyles however are a nightmare to try to dodge
Mohg was probably one of if not my favorite fight in the game. Idk something abt it just clicked with me, especially the atmosphere and how weird it feels it in a fromsoft game.
the mystery of that massive red, burning, temple in the distance and what (or who) might be there just stuck with me throughout every time i caught a glimpse from afar. And when i finally got there, and had that fight, i just loved every second of it
Dragonlord Placidusax is one of those bosses that makes me wish there was a way to rematch bosses like in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, even if it meant getting a tiny fraction of the runes and some minor item or basic weapon as a reward. Same goes for the Godskin Apostles and Nobles (yes, including the hellish Duo fight), Mimic Tear, Tree Sentinel, Morgott, Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, Night's Cavalry, and Loretta.
For anyone having a hard time with Malenia, consider using weapons that have status effects, I personally used bleed and frostbite against her so I can make explosive dmg to her hp and I made my mimic tank against her attacks thus somewhat negating her heal per attack since she cant heal that much whenever she attacks the mimic, oh and upgrade your mimic to +10 in order to get him really tanky, I was level 130+ when I fought her yet I still died to her 22 times
Moonveil & Comet Azur for me 2nd phase was a ***** I died on her impact half a dozen times before realizing to block and run back. But then it’s just placement for the spell, rinse & repeat til it works enough
I was so ready to love Dragonlord Placidusax. I went in ready to die again and again, despite the long walk back. On my 2nd or 3rd try, after he transitioned, he just stopped moving. Pretty disappointing, but here's hoping he's not broken in NG+
Dude same, he glitched out for me and I just got so disappointed. Going in there with ng+ as well :D For me it was my first try, he just slapped a couple times and broke.
Same for me; I had 2-3 separate occasions where Placidusax never moved before being active again. It’s fine, though; still killed him & got his remembrance.
Loretta was incredible for me because I went into the boss arena without knowing there’d be a boss, and I had literally 0 flasks left and was only on half health. Did that boss first try without taking a single hit 😌
Mogh was underwhelming? He might be my all time fav boss, great OST, great moveset, overall an amazing fight and actually difficult as well, potentially new hardest boss in the Franchise, I absolutely love this boss
Hardest in the franchise? Homie did you fight Midir or Demon of Hatred? Mohg has like 2 melee moves that are super slow and telegraphed, and his bloodflame toss is easily dodged with a dodge to the front or rear. He's one of my favorites too, but I beat him 2nd try and got absolutely floored by Radahn and Malenia at first.
@@zimzam24 if you think Midir is a hard fight then you're doing something wrong. Midir is an absolute joke, Demon of Hatred is more annoying than hard. What build were you using against Mogh? Cause a friend used a bleed build and killed him before he got into phase 2. But fighting him legit? Really hard fight. His attacks are really slow, making the timing really tricky, his attacks easily catch dodges, the bleed flames stay on the ground so if you roll back into them or have to walk through you're gonna stack more bleed, his Turkish explosive swipe is really fast so if youre stuck in an attack animation (I use a slow weapon) you're unlikely to dodge it, it also has surprisingly a lot of range as in phase 2 it hit me even when I rolled backwards twice (rolling forward made it easier but of I was already attacking thats half my hp gone), he does an insane amount of damage, basically two to three-shotting me, the camera can fuck you over when he goes into the air and overall the boss felt like it had a completely different AI than anything in the game. He knew exactly when to use what to be the most annoying and to counter every move and attack. I dont even know how many times he used his whole combo and when I dodged it and healed he was already onto me with a hard hitting overhead, or when he knocked me down and used his rain which insta killed me, or when he used the rain which hit me once in my dodge, slightly staggering me and instantly hitting me. I genuinely felt like I accomplished something when I beat him, I had to actually focus and tryhard to beat him, the only other boss that gave me that feeling so far was Margit because after the First Step and killing the Tree Sentinel I went straight to Margit, completely underleveled without an upgraded weapon and just kept going in until I memorized his moveset and beat him. Radahn is not a hard fight, its just a dumb fight because the camera will fuck you over all the time as you're locked on his bellybutton and his hands are off the screen. He goes on tantrums that randomly catch the final dodge, the run to him is annoying due to the inconsistency of the scattershot attack but thats it. From what I saw he is even easier when fighting him with a bleed build or magic, on horseback and with all the NPC summons, but thats just boring. Fighting him in melee with a slow weapon was tricky and annoying but definitely not hard. People are hyping up Melenia so I hope she doesn't disappoint me once I reach her, I should be getting to her shortly. Also I just realized, there are apparently two Moghs, Im talking about the Lord of Blood optional fight that can be unlocked via Varre, the other is apparently a joke, so maybe that's what you meant?
@@matus19971 Nah, Mogh was easy. Finished him my first try. Had more trouble getting through the area than killing him. Malenia is much, much more difficult. Took me like 40 attempts to win against her.
@@Velhalv you just run up to him and then revive at the stake if you fail which lets you immediately enter his room...so again, there are two Mohgs, Im talking about the Lord of Blood, not the Omen
I was sadly too overleveled for the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella... I had no idea he was actually a cool fight. Ancestor spirit was such a beautiful fight though. I was really sad to beat it.
Same with my buddy when we co op-ed. He almost knocked it straight through the second phase with bloodhound powerstance. I had to back off the fight just so he could see the whole move set
For me there is no such a thing as overleveled in this game since bosses kill you with 1-2 shot. If I would be able to do the same then we can call it being overleveled.
Plesidusax and Fortisax are both vulnerable to Rot. The first time I fought Plesidisax I just decided to hit him with Rotten Breath and while he was flying around in cloud form he just died and dropped out of the sky. It was hilarious.
placidusax have to be my favorite boss in the game, ever since i got into NG+ i kept telling myself "I CANT WAIT TO FIGHT HIM AGAIN". The visuals, the music and the moves are amazing in every way possible.
Serpent hunter is actually a great strength weapon for strength builds, plus it looks super rad. I love using it for my giga chad build with all strength
I legit felt super sad when i beat the game and killed everything. There was a point where I realize I had 2 bosses left and all I needed was 1 more hit to kill the boss, I decided to let him kill me cause I wasn’t ready to end the game. Just like berserk everything is so beautiful yet so sad. Without a doubt Dragon Lore best fight in the entire game. My personal favorite boss. :’)
I feel the same, just finished melania earlier today....have beaten every unique boss in the game now. Its sad because I was so incredibly hyped for this game and its only been out for 3 weeks or so. Feels like ive finished it so quickly but in terms of gameplay ive put a disgusting amount of time in over these past weeks. Just shy of 90 hours and there's still a lot left I want to do before I fire up NG+. Godfrey was my personal favourite boss both in mechanics and with the lore
@@Wi11iamNZ I know exactly how you feel. Godfrey I really enjoyed, when I saw that he had a stand (jojo blizzard related) I was so excited only to realize he never uses it (the lion). I enjoyed seeing what he could do on his second phase. Man literally suplexed my friend lol. I'm probably gonna speed run the game all the way to ng+7 so when the DLC comes out it'll be like I'm playing the game in hell mode.
@@GurenHn I was wondering about NG+ myself. It doesn't look at all challenging, i liked how other from soft games scaled the enemies up to your current level on each play through. Like I'm pretty overpowered now, just finished my first play through and I'm guessing ill absolutely slap Margit around like a bitch .... doesn't really appeal to me. Ive heard it gets harder as you complete more playthroughs though
Melania down, 2 to go. Is there a respawn by Placidusax? That walk back killed me… I also noticed how weak the final boss was and let him kill me haha.. but now it’s funny bc I’m struggling on 2nd phase.
I didn't yet finish the game, but so far Mogh was by far the hardest fight I came across. But also the coolest. Blood magic? A horde of walking pimple corpses everywhere, LAKES OF BLOOD as far as the eye can see? The whole level is amazing!
There’s also the secret eldrich skeletal dragon centipede boss, though I’ve not fought or even know how to find him, I just know he’s out there and he’s terrifyingly awesome lol
I can't say too much without risking some level of spoilers so I'll just say that he mentioned that boss you speak of in the video at some point already.
Yeah I just looked as saw that he did mention him already, so that’s my bad. But I didn’t know you get to fight him twice, or that he was part of her quest, that just means we get to enjoy it twice as much though lol
The ancient spirt fight irritated me because you bring it back to life just to kill it again but what makes me want to do it over and over and over again is it's my favorite boss fight because how beautiful it is and the music is so different comes out of nowhere and is the best song in all of souls games to me.
I appreciate the (optional) dragon guarding Rani's ending spot too. It can summon a great sword in his mouth and one shot me 🤣 I was so amaze by then cause I only see that move on wolves 😬 of course it will have a sword.
The main thing that bugs me about the game is how many bosses can just 2 or 3 shot you even if you have 1900 hp. Like...no souls game before has this ludicrous amount of enemy damage. I feel like I'm missing something when it feels like I have to pump vigor just to keep from everything one-shotting me.
@@Christmasko It wasn't good then either. And it's not even just bosses in Elden Ring. Half the enemies in Altus Plateau and later zones can take off 700+ a swing.
For tree spirits all you gotta do is stay to it's right side (on your left when facing him) I've found that he really cannot hit you if you do, because he actually doesn't have any sort of attacks for guarding his right side, like literally none. He slams his hand on you for his left side, but doesn't do shit on his right, you can easily kill him and take no damage, this works for any of them.
I started the death dragon fight on accident after going through the entire area without resting. So while I was slightly over leveled I couldn't be careless because I had little to no flasks left. I ended up beating him first try but the entire fight just felt badass knowing that our bars were in a way the same size.
@@BaldLezB_In because i wasn't a dick about it, that's how lol. but to honestly answer your question. the music, lighting and vibe as a whole was very enjoyable for me. I'm sure you have something about this game you absolutely just love about this game that is probably just meh to me, so agree to disagree.
Honestly I’ve been using the sword I’ve found in Carian Manor and the Death Rite Bird Folded pretty fast between myself and my Mimic. The “Legendary Armament.” That shit hits like a train. Also it lets me make countless entirely necessary “ExCalibaaaaaaa!!” References.
Getting to the real Loretta is terrifying. Her ghost version is so far the hardest boss I've fought. Though, the Tibia Mariner gave me a lot of grief in the beginning.
@@yurilopes420 Yes, it was not my proudest time. I defeated Margit and Godrick first try, but Ghost Loretta and the Tibia Mariner gave me such a hard time. I even defeated the hardest boss, the Soldier of Godrick, first try (this last part is meant in humour, though I did indeed defeat him first try). The only thing that's killed me more than those two is gravity itself.
@@sworddragonsliege I never had issues with blue Loretta but I can 100% get it. she goes wild sometimes and just combos 5 spells together tibia mariner I literally only came close to dying (while actively trying, not even joking) in Altus plateau and the one in the mountaintops. and most times it was the mobs and not the boss, but idk, maybe I was always overleveled. the ones that honestly give the biggest trouble are still the fucking ulcerated trees and the banished knights. I died to them as much as gravity in farm azula, God damn aids
@@yurilopes420 I think the biggest issue with the Tibia was that my brain has a hard time focusing when there's a lot of enemies, and Tibia keeps summoning skeletons to help it. I've been avoiding O'Neal for that very reason. I don't do swarms well.
The only issue with the ulcerated tree spirit is the phase change AOE. Especially in the first area you basically can't dodge it if you are close when the attack starts and it often would hit twice, which was a guaranteed kill
large bosses with small arenas make me sad. when the camera is just shooting around and you have no idea what you’re seeing because you’re up against a wall and it’s doing some crazy anime dance in your face
I thought the Ball Bearing Hunters were terrifying lol they always showed up at what seemed like random times when u least suspected it much like the Death Rite Birds..the 1st one I encountered was at the Isolated Merchants Shack in Caelid..I just showed up at the right place at the wrong time lol 😆 The way I got it to work without randomness was rest at that Site of Grace til night exit out of the rest menu then rest til noon then just walk outta the shack and yea good luck 👍 Definitely more challenging than the boss version at the shaded castle the 2nd 1 I encountered was at the Church of Vows the turtle wasn't there and I was like, "dammit where's the frickin' turtle than the Ball Bearing Hunter showed up lol I was like, "oh...so there's more than 1 of u..great" lol It's like what it'd feel like if a Sith lord was hunting u..or Jason Voorhees lmao
@Kill Bill its basically Elmer of the briar, except he shows up at a couple of sites of grace (one in liruinia, caelid and outside the capital) and completely beats the shit out of you I can't remember what you need to have done to get him to spawn tho
Placidusax at #1 makes me very happy. What a boss fight. Everything from the arena to the soundtrack is just wonderful, and his two super attacks are beautiful and awestriking (the lightning nuke that blasts half the arena and his twin headed giant lasers that swoop everywhere, which seems to go to the soundtrack just like his mid air vanishing strikes). Just had to comment about it because it brings me much joy.
The most exciting for me is rykard. Its remind of giant lord in ds3 but the most awesome fight is our bad boy radahn. 3times i just round around to see his movement and spell 🤣🤣. Astel alsoooooo exciting 💖
Just fought the smaller version of Mohg in the shunning grounds and it was really a fun fight. Since I ran around the capital so much morgott was sadly defeated in one try, so having to struggle in a boss fight rather than in the overworld was very refreshing
I gotta fight for my boy Midir real quick, mans said they haven’t had any good dragon fights up until fortissax but he must’ve just straight up forgot Midir. One of the coolest designs of a dragon we have seen in souls on top of a beautiful moveset that puts immense pressure on the player at all times. If it wasn’t for Placidusax I’d stand by midir being the best dragon boss in gaming all together.
As of yesterday I beat my last boss I had, malenia, one of my favorite bosses I’ve fought even though she took me hours even had to switch builds, this might just be the best game I’ve ever played, malenia and makeleth and radahn are easily my favorite
It’s strange for me I found malenia easier than I did the Elden beast, think it took me like 6trys to beat malenia with a bleed build but Elden beast took me hours todo :(
I loved this so much. I felt every description when I fought most of these on purpose believing I was supposed to. I also missed 2 torches in Siofra and pulled up a wiki to find which two I overlooked
how would you be able to finish without having to kill most of them though. I don't think you can get to liurnia without killing godrick. You have to kill morgott and the fire giant as well. And then you need to kill godfrey maliketh, and radagon/elden beast.
@@ajchaikovsky8382 You can go right around Stormveil to get to the lakes. There's NO actual blockade caused by a boss besides the one to the ice area. The medallions for the first lift are not boss-kept.
You may need two great runes to get to the end. But good luck beating the final bosses who can easily one or two shot you. Really need to power up and grind on farming. So as optional the other shardbearers are, might as fight them and get your moneys worth. Plus *SPOILERS* The Radahn armour is one of the best in the game.
with all due respect, for anyone who somehow hasnt played the game yet, it's totally untrue if you look past the hype that the bosses don't feel repetitive. the game is filled with dragons, horse riding knights, giant cats, sometimes the literally same boss over and over. the game is good but its just another typical fromsoft game, it doesnt break the mold gameplay wise. its a culmination of things they have done in all their games
You were 2 years too early. If you said this now, people would’ve agreed with you. This game was so hyped but the laziness just seeps through and through in this game and people were blind to it.
interesting fact! the ancestor spirit can be fought a total of 2 times. once in nekron where u fought it. but also in the Sofia river. same thing light the brazzens go fight him.
“Rarely ever do these bosses feel repetitive” That has to be irony. One of the glaring issues with this game is the repetitiveness of bosses. Being that certain bosses get demoted to field bosses, that certain enemies get promoted to optional bosses or that you just get the same boss but upgraded through the justifications like lore. Valiant gargoyles and black blade kindreds are an example.
The Death Rite Bird is actually super exploitable. I beat it the first try because if you get in close to it and just sprint he misses all of his swings and can't even hit you.
Hope you're looking forward to fighting both versions at once. It's late in the game so provided you explore enough you'll be ready for it. If not then suffer.
Now having played through elden ring, i can say without a doubt, not only is elden ring the hardest souls game but margit is also still the one he beat my ass the most
To me after playing Demon Souls Remake, DS3 and Elden Ring as well seeing and hearing what people say about the other games I haven't played, I will say that Elden Ring is the most "accessible" out of all the games but tbe game acknowledges this and plans in accordance for it (aside from a few outliers)
@@jmac1141 DS1 was by FAR the easiest Souls game tho lol maybe the hardest platforming? But enemy & Boss wise imo def the easiest. This is just my experience tho. The serpent slaying spear is actually pretty badass for strength builds. Lots of heavy damage and low FP costs for high poise. As a side note its got a has a 0 stat requirement so even pure wiz/faith can make use of it. For example a soul level 1 heavy weapon for poise breaking (if you crazy like that).

These bosses are cool for sure, but for a meele build every boss that is so big that you can basically just hit its feet is awful. Like I can't see shit on whats going on. Fought it at a point where it could still 2-3 shot me so it took a few tries to take down on my end. Felt like a great just fun boss fight
The fucking king Ghidorah lightning breath caught me off guard, I just let him kill me with it because I was too stunned to speak

I thought the same just killed him today.

@@rubub8455 True, but I don't need a Boss Rush mode. I'd prefer a rematch system.
I fought Mohg in Margit's arena in a randomizer, gave me a brand new perspective on the boss
Status effects and ashes of war with high stagger (moonveil) seem to be the way to go
I used barricade shield and a rapier with bleed. Died like 3 times due to new moves that ghost hit.
Moonveil & Comet Azur for me

I died on her impact half a dozen times before realizing to block and run back.

2 years late to this game, but Rusty is the GOAT with his videos.
The ancient spirt fight irritated me because you bring it back to life just to kill it again but what makes me want to do it over and over and over again is it's my favorite boss fight because how beautiful it is and the music is so different comes out of nowhere and is the best song in all of souls games to me.
The serpent hunter spear is actually a very solid weapon outside of the Rykard fight, but in the fight it's basically Storm Ruler 3.0 on a stick

For tree spirits all you gotta do is stay to it's right side (on your left when facing him) I've found that he really cannot hit you if you do, because he actually doesn't have any sort of attacks for guarding his right side, like literally none. He slams his hand on you for his left side, but doesn't do shit on his right, you can easily kill him and take no damage, this works for any of them.
it impressed me that Godrick is an optional one when i found the little path way around Stormveil
I started the death dragon fight on accident after going through the entire area without resting. So while I was slightly over leveled I couldn't be careless because I had little to no flasks left.

When you said mogh was underwhelming I shuddered at that because I accumulated like 12 hrs of fighting before defeating him.
The Death Rite Bird is actually super exploitable. I beat it the first try because if you get in close to it and just sprint he misses all of his swings and can't even hit you.
Describing the death birds as “walking museum exhibits” is so accurate it’s actually sending me

I have a suggestion for the worst bosses in elden ring GODSKIN NOBLE CAN GO TO HELL
Oh buddy you have no idea what's coming for you
@@michaelhuit I wanna know if I Aube to kill him to progress the story cause il eventually do it but I’ve been trying for two days now
Hope you're looking forward to fighting both versions at once.
It's late in the game so provided you explore enough you'll be ready for it.
If not then suffer.
@@Devereauxyzgodskin duo is a mandatory fight
Awesome video great content, script and entertaining delivery. Thanks
The fight witg plasudisex is absolute cinema in gaming history.
Now having played through elden ring, i can say without a doubt, not only is elden ring the hardest souls game but margit is also still the one he beat my ass the most
Hardest??? It's the easiest. You definitely haven't played dark souls 1 😂
People say DS3 is the easiest and i thought it was the hardest lol. I will say, Without Summoms, Elden Ring is probably the hardest Souls game I've played tbh.

Fair play, lots of effort went into this. Lovely amount of bosses covered.
Hearing "these fights very rarely felt repeative" was fucking wild to me bc thats the number one reason i hate elden ring. Every single boss felt repetative in some way
hi, your title is misleading 😮
I absolutely loved fighting Placidusax, his lightning nuke attack was so awesome
Rusty sounds notably less depressed compared to his newer video's
My favorite boss fight was Unbreakable Patches. Both very well balanced and visually magnificent.
