This is a beautiful place and it takes away the drudgery of what many see of cemeteries. Thank you Kari for showing us this beautiful place and the wonderful representation of what another journey of what our families can see when their loved ones have departed. This is an incentive for people to make or help their loves ones make what can be a difficult time when loved ones have to make choices.
What a beautiful place and so well kept up! That public mausoleum was just incredibly beautiful inside when so many others just look old. I would enjoy walking through a peaceful cemetery like that. Great video!
Good morning Kari and well done👌 absolutely a beautiful cemetery first class in every way.....who wouldn't delight in strolling the grounds of this majestic place just to take it all in! Again kudos Kari for sharing this tour and highest compliments to the folks who operate and maintain it.....they got it right😀 Love our cemeteries😀
Oh my how absolutely beautiful...im not personally into buying "real estate " , but I am truly impressed with this cemetery...I found it interesting it is 555 acres. I have read many spiritual books that mention we have 5 exit points in life, John Denver on his last final flight was flying a plane (that previous owner registerd number)..on the back wing it had JD555. It was his last exit point in life. I really really love the pet companion area...i hope to be with all my furkids while in heaven..but also our ashes intertwined in glass. Thanks for sharing...and the music i must say was perfectly fitting and beautiful ❣
Thank you for the tour. My husband and I love to visit cemeteries....large and small. Our favorite is City Cemetery in Natchez, MS. It is definitely worth your time if you're ever in that beautiful city.
Such a beautiful place. I've been to many cemeteries, to take photos. Usually, you'll find many trees, so Autumn is one time to go. I was at a very large older cemetery, on a cool hazy day. I came upon a large gray headstone, maybe five feet tall. On top of it, was a fresh red rose. So picture this, everything is basically gray, with this fire engine red rose. Close to a patch of nice trees. A shocking photo. I'll never turn down, going thru cemeteries. Look at it this way. You won't wake anyone! I'm dying to go!
WOW! What a breathtaking place, absolutely beautiful! I'd love to see it sometime. We're lucky, where I worked, we had a 53 acre cemetery surrounding 3 sides of the funeral home. I was astonished to find out that this is not done in all states. Amazing video, as always!
I live in Indiana. I've been to this cemetery once and its such a beautiful interesting place. I got a lot of neat photos there. I'd love to go back and walk around it again.
Beautifully done, kari. Enjoy it, especially the music that goes along with veteran section. It will be more educational to me if you may pick one or two (or three) typical markers, and explain (or in staff members' words) the meanings/implications ( from a religious/ethnic perspective) of the designs, colors, layouts and so on.
@@KaritheMortician I found the "vents" on the side of the mausoleum on Thomas Marshall's (former US vice president). I'm presumptuous about what they are for, but it would be interesting to have a video regarding the pros and cons of mausoleums
Love the tour! I have a question. I do genealogy research so I walk a lot of cemeteries taking pics for people's family tree. I have been told that different types of markers mean something in the old cemeteries? There are a lot of German and Swedish graves and the one I see most is about 3 feet high and comes up in a design some say looks like a house or a church roof. There are hundreds of this style. So if you or any of your readers can help I would appreciate it! Thanks!
My dear Friend was buried today after a long courageous battle with throat cancer. She wasn't viewable because she weighed in about 75 lbs while her normal weight was 120 lbs. The family opted to just put her in a sealed casket and have a 1 day viewing and funeral. She was not embalmed whatsoever. Was there a chance of gases building up and her casket burping during her services? She actually succumbed 2 1/2 days ago. I also recommend getting a small camera drone for your wonderful RUclips videos.... to add to the perspective of these large cemeteries.
OK the musician in me wants to know, is there an actual pipe organ in The Gothic Chapel? The community mausoleum, reminds me of and is very similar to the ones at White Chapel in Troy, Michigan and Holy Sepulchre in Southfield Michigan (which you've already taken us on a tour of)
Kari, In 2022 an Officer Seara Burton was buried here. I noticed her casket was above a paved sidewalk. Is that a big underground vault that police officers were buried in? I just wondered how that would work.
Kari....I live in a small city called Watervliet, in Albany County, NY State. We have a few very old and very awesome cemeteries in the tri-city area. You may have heard of them. Albany Rural Cemetery 1844, Oakwood Cemetery Troy, NY and Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, NY. Very old, very famous very ornate. They have websites. Take a gander. I think they're worth a trip.
This is a humongous cemetery! 4th largest in the United States with almost 210,000. It's one you have to keep coming back to in order to get all of the beauty and history.
My beautiful mother is buried there as of June 1. 2020.. Another fact about CH is they did segregate burials, Black people were buried only on one side of the commentary. Exception if you were a veteran. Still somewhat like that today. Remember its located in Indianapolis.
Did you get to take care of Officer Breanna Leath? She was on the Born behind bars series, beautiful young woman who was pregnant on the show with the prisoners.
@@KaritheMortician yes she was buried there April 2020. Have you seen the show? It's called Born behind bars. She was only 24. That cemetery you showed us was gorgeous.
wow, that was interesting, I love the companion area. i was dogs could live as long as humans. .... Oh and Go Blue!!! We beat the heck out of Notre Dame tonight ;)
That's not a cemetery, that's an experience!!! Thanks for showing this!
Looks like a cemetery 🤔
One of my favorite places to walk.

Such a beautiful cemetery, I love that they have a companion section there! Thanks for sharing Kari! :)
@Mac Yes, it's wonderful, I just wish more city/town cemeteries would allow them too!
Very moving video. I've enjoyed every one that I've watched, but I had a visceral reaction to this one in particular. 💜

Thank you for this Kari it was wonderful - I think you could do several more of these to cover more of the grounds and the Mortuary.
It touched my heart to see the veterans section
Great video I love to visit cemeteries thanks for the video

This is truely a beautiful tribte to those who have passed. Have you ever been to Forest Lawn, Glendale, Ca if not it is a truely unique experience.
I train for marathons in there, I'm also a docent at the Benjamin Harrison site. And guess what? After 10 years, I'm still finding things. :D

What are the tomb like above ground grave buildings? Are they not buried under ground inside those?

In his final days before he passed,Delores Hope asked Bob
"Where would you like to be buried?"
Bob said."Surprise me." 🤣🤣🤣
Ever hear that one Kari?
No thank you
Robert Irsay is buried there. He was the owner of the NFL Colts
Many people buried in the large cemeteries are notable to the locals but not to out of towners like me lol
Kari you look so beautiful in all black. 🖤💕💕💕
Being buried there, fifth generation of dead relatives at Crown Hill.
