I just failed two of my classes and I'm so nervous that they'll take away my financial aid and that I'll have to pay back what they already gave me because my family is so financially unstable and I am trying so hard not to cry cause I don't want my mom to come in and ask then I'll have to tell her. I'm also so scared of getting kicked out of my university
I just found out that I failed two of my classes. chemistry 099 and English 102. I'm not depressed or sad but
I am not looking forward to telling my family.

My dad has always been the smartest person in the room and most times when he asks me about grades he always says something like this “you’re going to get A’s and B’s right?” And I feel like my worth is only defined by a grade and that I have to have an A or B to be a good daughter. Especially now during covid it’s been extremely hard because I’m not always motivated to do the class work at home. One of my classes is 39% and another is 65% and I’m scared of being kicked out of running start and for being a failure like I’m not good enough. Thank you for sharing this video, it’s helping :)
Their is nothing wrong with failing. currently I have a 56% in English and a 65% in intro to college as well as a 25% in intermediate algebra. My tuition is also being covered by financial aid and what this semester has taught me was it is ok to fail but you need to try, and I know that hard to do based on experience, it's hard to motivate yourself to do assignments when your at the home especially when you get comfortable but you have to atleast try. Maybe instead of hiding the fact that your failing maybe be honest. There is nothing wrong with failing it is simply a learning experience on how to improve no matter what someone is always going to support you so give it your all and you might surprise yourself.
i don't blame you for having a hard time at Berkeley. My university isn't even top 100 in the US and I'm still having a hard time with my classes.

i'm currently failing two classes and passing the other two (im taking 4 classes in total) and my anxiety is up to the roof, this is the first time im failing espeically due to the pandemic. I dont know whats going to happen and im truly terrified because i am scared of being a failure. ...
I'm in the same position. I know i failed one class already and I just figured out that I'm failing another one too. It's my first time ever to fail classes. I would blame it on the pandemic, it affected my mental health so bad, I had really awful days and school was the last thing to think about at those moments. while I spent my days in bed trying to calm down, assignment deadlines, exams, online lecture were piling on my head. I was so lost and I felt like I was drowning. I wanted to drop some classes but I couldn't so I had to try to do whatever I can. I feel horrible right now. I'm already one year late compared to my peers because of switching majors and I don't know if I can do this anymore. I feel like i'm stuck in this black hole.

I'm sorry to hear that. If you're uncertain about the fall, consider reaching about to an academic advisor. Their job is to help you, and sometimes they can offer good advice. I know it's scary, but there are ways to get through it, and you can even gain some confidence before heading into the fall.

Bless your soul for making this. It's so nice just to listen to somebody talk about their experience and how they've lived through it as a student and a person.
I think I'm about to fail my first class in 15 years of schooling, in the 7th semester of college. I still have a fleeting chance if I ace the final. The feeling sucks. I know that F doesn't diminish me in any way to the people who really know me, but it feels tragic to break the streak and it's in a class that I genuinely care about but ended up at the bottom of my priorities under a bunch of required stuff for my major.

Tough times for sure! Keep pressing on, the difficulties are real. Do not give up, follow your dream, set a realistic schedule. Take one class at a time vs. a load of classes. You can do it!
I'm a freshman community college student. I'm about to fail 1st class for my 1st semester. I know some people won't think it's bad because I see people in the comments who have failed more and I'm barely starting college. But I had my first panic attack because of math anxiety while taking an online class. I worked really hard but I still couldn't take a fucking test. Now I'm about to fail my calculus class because I started to avoid math in fear of another attack happening again. It was my first panic attack so I feel a bit traumatized by that and I feel so ashamed cause of that. I couldn't tell anybody of my attack cause my mind really had to process what happened and I was confused and I have been stuggling with mental issues for a while. I thought it was going to get better through time but it wasn't. I really needed help. Meditation isn't enough, I'm going to open to my parents about it. I'm really glad you made this video, it made me feel like I'm not alone and everything is going to be ok :') so thank you

Thank you so much for this video, it gives me more hope. I am freshman, and Ive been really down in the dumps because I am failing organic chem. At this point, I kind of gave up on ochem just so it doesn't affect my other classes (thankfully i have all A's except for ochem). Gen chem was such a breeze but ochem just doesn't click for me. I really disappointed in myself but I plan on studying over the summer and retaking the course in the fall.
May: I'm proud of you for getting accepted into UC Berkeley and studying. You're doing something that most people can't handle.

I'm in my third year as an architectural major and in my country we have that system that doesnt allow you to pass the third year if you have failed a class during these three years. I only failed one in freshman year since it wasnt an easy year for me and this subject is really difficult. But i got better and didnt fail any other class afterwards. However whenever i retake the exam for this one class i fail it and now my whole year is at risk 😢. I dont think i can handle being in academic probation next year for that one class and my parents are putting a lot of pressure on me.

Hello! I'm sorry I took a while to reply. I've switched over to a different account for a fresh start with my subscriptions. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I appreciate the support from you and your grandma. A lot has happened since this video. I graduated in July 2019, and it was not easy. I struggled a lot and had some very low points, but I scraped my way through to the end. I was lucky enough to find a job immediately after leaving college! I worked at a company for 10 months as a chemist, but because of COVID-19, I was temporarily laid off. I ended up losing that job completely due to the crisis. As of right now, I am still searching for a job, but I will remain optimistic. Thanks again for commenting, and I hope you and your grandma are doing well.

Right no w, I’m doing running start which is taking college courses as a high school student.And I’m failing 3 classes and I feel so shitty about it. I’ve just haven’t been feeling modivated at all.
I'm sorry you're feeling that way. It can be a big adjustment to take college courses as a high school student. I had friends who did a sort of middle college program. It doesn't mean it's over! But maybe you should reevaluate taking the classes in the first place or try to reduce your load somehow. I highly suggest talking to an academic counselor.

Omg cus same I failed a class this semester and withdrew a class, I'm so embarrassed and my mom just found out I feel disappointed and sad. I'm on academic probation right now but wish me luck next semester :(

I just got done with my very first year of college and it was so stressful! I am still unsure if I'll pass my Bio/Kin class and have been experiencing series of waking up in the middle night, frightened of the outcome of my final grade in the class. Hopefully I pass.

I got a D in a class required for my major (at my school you have to get a C or higher in major classes). This is my second time getting a D in a required course, the first one I retook this semester and passed with a B-, but I’m scared to tell my parents as they said if this happens again I’ll have to drop out or pay for college on my own as they’re paying for it. I just hope they can have sympathy as this class was online and I do better with in person classes

Is it okay if u failed a minor subject? Coz i'm in my freshmen year in nursing and one of my subject is math(minor).. Even it's minor i also have difficulties to learn more about math. Now i failed to pass that subject, and i really really feel disappointed and unlucky compared to others.. I don't know what to do now.
It depends on how that class affects the next classes you will take. Sometimes, retaking a class won't necessarily affect your progress that much. Other times, it may cause you to finish your program later than you planned. I understand the feeling of disappointment, but know that you can still continue even if you fail.
And now i'm afraid to tell to others because i think they will not help me to feel better :(

Hi, im a chemistry major and I failed one required class my second semester of freshmen year. I'm now in my sophomore year and i'm nervous I wont graduate on time. Do you think failing one class will not let me to graduate on time?
Hi there! I suggest you see an academic advisor. If you're able to retake the class along with taking your other required classes, you might still be okay! If you're able to take a summer class to fulfill some other requirements, it may be easier to fit the class you have to retake in during some other term. I think graduating on time is probably still very possible for you, but you need to do some planning.
@@MayLikesNoodles1 Thank you so much for responding! I will be retaking the class this semester which is second semester sophomore year along with some other required classes. Unfortunately, I should of been taking organic chem sophomore year which I didn't due to this failed class. Hope I can still make it. I stress about it everyday. @@jasontjong1700 No problem! My friend actually transferred into the chem major sophomore year, but I believe he is still managing to graduate on time! He is taking the ochem series this year when he technically should have taken it last year, but with some good course planning (albeit harder loads), he's caught up on his major reqs.

@@jasontjong1700 Oh, I'm just referring to the two-semester sequence of organic chemistry. There's 12A and 12B at Cal. ChemE majors only have to take the the A part, while Chem majors have to take the full series. Sometimes this can be an issue if someone is behind because 12A is only offered in the fall (and B in the spring).
