  • So I failed last quarter at UC Davis, got what I believe is the worst grade ever in the history of college and college classes, and despite failing college last quarter, what to do and the motivation to do better!
    Okay that's all for now!

WOW congrats on a negative grade?? A friend in hs once told me that someone in her English class had a negative grade, I think it was like -15%? Great job on staying positive though! I went through the subject to dismissal process and was ultimately dismissed, and 3 years later, I'm still dealing with the effects on my mental health.

Its alright. Failure is good cause you learn from it and makes you realize that you can do even better 😊

Thank you soo much for this video mate. This semester, I transferred to a 4 year from a community college where I was rocking a 3.8 GPA beforehand. This semester, I was tackling moving to a new area for school, starting a new job while in school, juggling through different types of medication with side effects like awful nausea to treat a chronic mental health condition that I was diagnosed with a few years back when the depression and swings were getting worse, the death of a family member, and dealing with housemates that just wanted to party. I managed to net one A while barely holding 2 B's and getting a D in the fourth class. Normally, I'd not be so hard on myself over a D, problem is, this class that I received the D in is easily the most important in my entire degree and will create a LOT of attention on a grad school resume. Even if I retake it and get an A, I'm severely worried that this one class that's soo important will ruin my chances at a future doing what I love.

I'm currently studying abroad in Ireland through the UCEAP program. I'm glad that I got the opportunity to study abroad, however I should have prioritized my mental health before coming. I ignored some issues thinking being in a new environment would help me somehow... School ends in 10 days and 3 of my classes are assessed on 10 pg papers. These papers comprise of 100% of my grade. I have had 4 other papers to write previous. I'm physically ill with anxiety in trying to get these done. I know I won't finish them on time, or if I do, they'll be of piss poor quality. Your video helps give me some sense of relief that it's not the end of the world. Though I'd rather my mistake have not been so expensive...
Good luck on the rest of your schooling. I hope the rest of it continues to go well.

@@craving2create Thanks, that's the plan. Just gotta muster up the courage to do so.
On a side note, if you or any of your friends ever plan on studying abroad I recommend the UCEAP program. Despite my current predicament, it's a good program.

Jordan Thompson I’m planning on attending UC DAVIS and I really want to travel abroad, could you tell me how you got started and how the process was for you.

@@andretovar3668 Awesome! Once you're settled at Davis I would recommend getting started on applying to study abroad as soon as possible depending on when you want to leave. Give yourself a year, at most, between when you start talking to your advisors about applying to the actual quarter you'll be abroad. Leave wiggle room for error. I'm studying abroad through UCEAP but there is another study abroad program offered through Davis. I don't know much about it and but I think classes are led by a Davis instructor. Whereas UCEAP is independently led, meaning you apply to a school in another country and attend as an actual student there. In choosing where to go abroad, go wherever you want but also keep in mind whether the university you choose has a good program for your major and has enough classes within your major that will transfer over as UC credits. Once you decide where you want to go, you'll fill out a form listing all the classes from your top universities (fill out more than one form if your trying to decide bw mult universities) and bring this form to your advisor. He/she will then match each class to an equivalent Davis class and determine whether it fits in a certain category in your major or if it counts as an elective, and its # of credits. You'll submit this form to the study abroad office alongside your application to a specific UCEAP program. My program is the Irish Universities program. Make sure you have a passport before applying or at least have a receipt showing you have purchased one and it will arrive before you leave. You'll need to attach this proof to your UCEAP application. Any questions about this application can be answered by the study abroad office. Definitley talk to them and your advisor before starting anything. They do walk ins. Once you get accepted into your program you apply to your university of choice! Yay college apps all over again. You can get funding to go abroad through grants and scholarships. You'll automatically get one grant through UCEAP anyways. It's not hard to get everything covered, especially if you already receive financial aid. The current aid you already receive will also transfer over, though it may be adjusted a little bit. I hope this answers some questions! Let me know if you want to know more or if something was unclear. This got really long. If only I could write my own papers as quickly and enthusiastically.

Hey thanks for the video. I got the lowest grade in the class, and it hurt. I got a B+ but everyone was killing it. I looked at the bell curve and felt like garbage. I am trying to crawl out of this pit of despair. It helps to hear your story.
