On my personal playthrough I used an actual car and not the Initial D meme wagon, and the train crept up on me at 178 mph, that's another scripted part of the game that adjusts to make sure it isn't too hard for even the worst of drivers to escape it. It's likely based on your average speed prior to that part of the course.

Airbomb 707 The tiers are actually meaningless for the starter cars. I beat Angie, Wolf, and Kenji using the Alfa Romeo Brera (AKA first car). The Brera couldn't keep up with the cars in Darius' territory though.
Gatrolhead I beat all three of them too, just using a stock Camaro SS, with precise skill you could even manage to win quite a few races in Darius' territory with either of the starter cars completely stock with the use of a drafter. (heck, they made Carbon too easy with crew members 😂)

Graphics better than payback in my opinion.
Some details arent better. Check the taillight on BMW M3 E30 for example in NFS The Run and Payback. NFS The Run Red lights look like diamond in Payback like rectangle. The interior is better than The Run in Payback. I would say The Run graphics are better but in some details it isnt.

Changing is mandatory, you begin with tier 4 (the likes of the GT-R 35, Shelby 500), switch to another car when you reach Vegas, then near the end you switch to an Audi in Chicago, only finish the final areas with tier 5 (the likes of Aventador, 918 RSR)
