@@rvfiasco It's clear enough to me that I do want to play it. It's been quite a while since I played an RPG last, and want a good introduction, coming back.
My Merchant is probably my favorite member. Maybe second now that my Monster Wrangler is so beefed up lol. Up until just recently she was the fastest member and would do a pretty good chunk of damage on the initial turn with her boomerang, MW would pop in second with the whip and the Priest and slow ass MC on clean up duty. She hasn't been able to equip any boomerang I've found past the Edged Boomerang so I put a battle fork on her but her stone ability is pretty useful still. Plus her Call Service skill has come in clutch calling in an Inn in dungeons, even if I have to spam the thing like 6 times. Not like she's using the MP for anything else though haha.
After Metaphor, I'll never not pick a merchant if I see one. Totally didn't kmow you can change the initial party though. Definitely gonna go grab a custom party.
Thief is very helpful once they learn Nose for Treasure so you can know about all hidden items and chests in an area, very useful when you unlock later transportation for exploring the world. I have a file on the mobile port to the Switch and my merchant gets a lot of crits. One file i have on the HD-2D Remake is Martial Artist, Gadabout and Thief but i want to learn all abilities before changing vocation.
I'm not sure how I feel about everyone but the main character being able to class change. I love job system games that let me mix and match stuff and it feels like the MC should be able to get into that action too. I hope by himself he's powerful enough to compensate the other party members having more abilities though
Very useful tips, especially about classes at the beginning. I didn’t know I should choose classes by myself. Also, I remember that in DQXI, there was a moment where the characters split up. I didn’t use many potions, so I didn’t notice that they weren’t in their inventory. When it came to the moment when they split, it was tough. My friend got stuck at this point for the same reason, but I somehow managed to handle the situation. However, I learned my lesson.
if youre talking about the MC, there is a graph about the personality test, look it up. If you want the book, i'll have to do some research for its exact location.
Any class change recommendations? So far, I've only changed 1, which is my Mage to Sage, and the other party is Monster Wrangler and Priest both at lv24
Priest should ideally also become sage, but, he can stay priest for now. For the monster wrangler, you have many options but the best one would be warrior in my opinion. It depends if you plan on transitioning again or not. Grabing some merchant or thief skills could be useful.
@@MochaCoffeeBreak Dont worry too much about personalities, you find a bunch of books and items that change your personality. Overall, vamp is the best personality cuz it works for every class. Genius is very good for priest and mage. Lone wolf is pretty good for warrior/martial. Just look what stat they give and choose who to give the books to according to that. I think the ideal starting composition is Merchant+Priest and a DPS of your choice (warrior, mage, Martial artist). There are many reasons why i think merchant is a must, I go over the main reason it in my most recent video. I recommend to transition your merchant or dps into monster angler since that class gets very op late game after finding a lot of docile monsters.
@acwano I see, thanks for the advise! But what about thief thou? Do you think thief is good as well? Also, can we obtain genius for party member through distributing stat stick? I triend many times but got egghead and wit instead when tyring to recruit 😭
i'll make a video on this for more details. But for now, Priest into sage, always. Your Merchant could become warrior martial or Monster wrangler. Your mage could also become a sage, sage is the ultimate magic class so having two of them is not bad.
Both honestly. But who should you prioritise if you have 1 word of wisdom? Probably your mage since its a dps, you can transition ur priest into a thief to make a fast healer in the meantime. Then later, when u get the 2nd word of wisdom, make a 2nd sage or become a warrior to be tankier healer, basically a paladin.
I played a ton of this on the Nes. For my first go through I just stuck with the default party, set battle speed to max, and use fight wisely when grinding in dungeons. So far the experience has been fairly breezy.
@@alexh2790 Glad to hear that! I think making my own party members is more fun but to each their own. Im the kinda guy who fights every encounter so it gets rough sometimes😅😂.
@acwano Yeah, I did that with the Nes version back in the day, but got lazy this time because I'm antsy to get on with things 😋. I'm kinda surprised how long my mana reserves last with party members casting every round. I think I'd have to return to town sooner playing conservatively.
@@FancyKerbloops Yes, that class is very good, and it gets better the more you progress in the game and find more nice monsters. You end up with a loooot of skills, definitely a top tier late game class.
I disagree with the tip to not change your class more than once or twice. You only mentioned it in a text overlay. I'm not saying it's a GOOD idea... but if you put in the time and change a character's class a few times, their stats are going to be crazy high and they'll have access to tons of abilities. When I last played the GBC version, all three of my party members ended up being a Sage at least once. They had all the Sage spells. It was a little crazy. I also put a LOT of time into that save file. I used to grind levels idly while I did other stuff. I wouldn't advise it because of the time requirement, but also, if you want to, just go for it.
Changing twice is good. changing three times is pushing it. Most people dont wanna spend hours grinding so that was just a warning. But, hey Some people want every skill on every party member, as long as youre ready to grind for it, go for it.
I wanna see someone break down all of the classes and their purposes. I know the game explains it when making a new character but I wish it went deeper.
Well yes, but then you would have to grind to level 20 again since u go back to level 1 after changing classes. Not worth i think, might as well stay priest until you get the item.
Monster Wrangler is a class that gets way better in the late game. And merchant gets less useful later, especially since you keep the merchant skills after transitioning. So you should start with a Priest, a merchant and a DPS of your choice (warrior, mage, MA,). Even thief could work but you'll have a rougher early game. Then transition your merchant or your dps into a Monster wrangler.

I started with thief, merchant and priest. Money was not an issue. Then again i don't run from fights and choose to walk instead of zoom around even after getting zoom.
Well, if you donf feel like grinding, then dont. In the early game, you dont have to buy much equipment, you get a lot of stuff from chests and pots. Dont forget to checkout the mini-medal ethusiast in the starting town to get good weapons eaely game. Requires 8 medals to get both.
Even on easy/Dracky mode can't DIE Gadabout is the only one with Whistle learns its final move at lv 45 but you still lose CONTROL of it OFTEN at the SAME lv in which it learns Whistle at lv 13 so even if you cant DIE on Dracky mode grinding exp/gold WITHOUT Whistle is really a BAD idea.
