If your calendar just tells "Loading...", is because you are using the link of the public calendar, and it has to be public. You should use the link of "Secret address in iCal format".

You should do a video explaining the music modules, and if so will the now playing feature work with movies your streaming to your device (ie a chrome cast)
I followed you for a while and you are fantastic as the previus videos the explanation was precise, on point and easy to follow. I ve a question on google assistant i can set a reminder that google shows in the calendar. Do you know a way to show reminders on smart mirror like for the calendar? Because i cant go on the settings of it and it seems that there isnt a link for incorporate them...
how to install alexa?
Great video, but I would recommend using the secret address instead of publishing your personal calendar to the world. Once public your schedule can be found in a simple google search... unless you're into that sort of thing.
Is there any way I can display a to-list on my Magic Mirror? Best Case would be if I can link it with my ToDoist
I haven't used Alexa so far. I only use Google Assistant on my phone, but just out of curiosity which one would be more appropriate for such project? I noticed you've got another video with the Assistant as well.

Yes, do not use this mirror in a bathroom that has a mirror and a shower built together in the same room

You can use it with private ical format (better option so your calendar dates and events aren't public)

Honestly, I have messed around more with Google Assistant and have found it is easier to manipulate code in this rather than the Alexa download. The Google Assistant software has the pre-built LED indicator so you can use a light bar such as the one seen here: ruclips.net/video/t-gSjdJX5HY/видео.html
As far as the Alexa goes though, I am more familiar with AWS and the developers so I like to create my own skills with Alexa. I guess they both have their limitations and the preference is what type of DIY project I am doing.

I know it's an old video, but most thing are not changed, when I've setted up calendar to fetch in every 2 seconds it's blinking and it's not that steady as Yours (just blinks when something is changed).
Do You have any idea how to avoid that? Thanks.

Some people have done it, but there are some extra things you have to do to get this to work. I have had no luck doing it yet, but will probably keep working on that.

curious since the mirror is in the bathroom and you put holes so it can vent, the shower doesn't affect the mirror when it fogs up? Probably a dumb question, but just found this video today, it's awesome, just wonder if it can be used there as well without any long term problems.
It's actually a really good questions and the same thing I forgot to address until I installed it. It would long term cause issues with corrosion of the circuitry if not addressed. What I did to protect my electronics from moisture is using a "Conformal Coating" silicone gel that covers the electronics and protects them from dust, moisture etc. I used this to cover all electronics in the mirror and have had it in my bathroom for 2 years now without issues.

I cant really say because a lot of things I had laying around the house - but with the size of the mirror in this video it was double the price of the smaller one in the other videos.
@Grensom what microsd card did you use with your raspberry Pi for your smart mirror? It seems quite snappy... I have bought a SanDisk ultra 32gb don't know if it will be fast enough. And whether it will be much slower than a SanDisk extreme pro? They say if the ad card is being used a lot continuously then the sandisk ultra isn't good, especially like for a smart mirror... Any thoughts?
Since Alexa supports multiple users, is there any way you could have a user say “Alexa show me my calendar” and show that specific users calendar?

When you have multiple agendas you can say: show my work agenda (and all the other agendas disappear)
Any idea on how to do this? (I have an idea, but you need the assistant to edit the config file)
I haven't really thought about this yet, but I can see this being possible. I know there is a module to allow you to add and remove modules via Alexa, so I guess if you made separate Calendar Modules for each agenda, you could do it this way. JCM double check your spelling in the config file, mine did this when I accidentally had an extra “s” on the iCal address
My Google Calendar doesn't have an ICAL format URL but it only has a Public URL. What should I do?

Im just now getting my magic mirror going, but I cant seem to figure out how to get the calendar to show when certain holidays / events are. it just says "No upcoming events"
You have to add them on your own.

I remember a while ago you managed to really help out with the Spotify module for me, I was wondering if you might be able to help out with getting times on the calendar, I noticed at 2:51 you had the time next to the dentist, do you need to modify the .js within calendar module or within the actual config file (calendar.js or config.js), if so what text do I need to write and where? I synced my calendar with alexa, she can read my calendar events but she cant add new events. Is there any way i could fix this?
It looks great but to run on Terminal commands is still my biggest weakness. I'm ok with higher machine language like C#, etc. But Terminal commands are not exactly my forte.

Yes! But you will need to buy every individual adapter such as the wifi/sound adapter...

next up for these awesome mirrors is face recognition so when I walk up to it my info show when my wife walks up to it her info shows. that would put these over the top for sure.

You would have to change the Language abbreviation in the config.js file. At the beginning you will see Language: "en". I am not exactly sure what Languages are supported, but try changing that to "da" (I believe this is the Danish abbreviation) and see if that works.
Dutch is NL as in Netherlands (why is it called Dutch anyway?).

Make sure you are writing "pm2 MagicMirror stop"
you can see what is active by typing "pm2 list"
I am in the middle of my build, and added the calendar. How do you get it to update so quick? I update mine with google assistant, so not sure if that has anything to do with it

I fixed mine. Try getting rid of the other calendar part so it's just Ur Google calendar in the config.js file.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use a shared iCloud calendar without syncing it with Google first?
Found it: First, make your preferred calendar public (write protected) on your favourite iDevice (Calendar -> Calendars -> i -> Public calendar).
Then log in to icloud.com, select Calendar, click the "Calendar Sharing Info" button, and copy the webcal link. Paste this in place of the default webcal link in config.js
Not sure if this will work with Alexa, as Alexa isn't available in Norway yet.
why is it every time I edit the config file and load the magic mirror it asks me to create a config file

isn't there a nice solution with an android tablet to use? someone could use a 10'' tablet and create a much smaller solution with less headache. the issue is that i don't know if there is anything good out there. smart mirror should be able to have a camera behind the glass.... be able to do a video call, see a youtube video. etc.
by the way i like the size of the mirror
I have tried to setup with a Tablet, there are a few Apps for it on Google Play - but nothing I have really liked. The formatting is too small even on a 10" screen, there's really no flexibility with Configuration so for me it's not worth it. Additionally, there's no easy way to put the tablet to sleep and turn it back on right to the app for power control - The way I see it, if you spend the money for all these parts and use a Tablet with a small screen and need it on 24/7 it's not gonna be worth the money. I recommend doing it the right way with some type of larger display and a Raspberry Pi. It takes 3 minutes to download the most basic program and you can manipulate to the extent of your liking.
Grensom, in gmail calendar settings I made my calendar public and copied Public address in Ical format to config on MM, but it doesnt show in calendar. First i tried adding it as You did in video beneath the costum calendar and afterwards deleting custom but then it states: No events. I am using MM 2.4.1 build…?
It should still work with the updated MM version. I would make sure that there are no spelling mistakes or configuration mistakes in the config.js file. I remember the first time I set it up it didn't work and turns out I was missing an "s" in the address and a comma in the configuration file.
Grensom I triple checked everything. I even used config from sample cos I was thinking that I misstyped something prior messing with calendar. I do also have problem with current app costum module that You have in this video. My costum weather forecast works normaly but current weather module doesn't show at all. It was from the scratch I installed MM.
make sure the box marked "Make available to public" is checked under access permissions for your calendar settings.

Simply copy and paste the original "calendar check -o" function more than once accompanied by a , after the closing } ex:{

Why public calendar when you can put your private calendar? It's for me, not anyone ;-)
P.s. And, in the case you choose public calendar, you have to flag Public in the top...
something to not is that this only works if you set your calendar to public. :-(
Your calendar api key (directly under the public one) can be private, you don't have to share your calendar (have it checked to be shareable) just be sure to copy the private one and you'll be good
