Hi, Aaron! I met you almost 2 years ago in São Paulo, Brazil. I don't think you'll remember me, but I just wanted to say that thanks to you, now I'm a 2D animator and keep studying hard. You are my biggest inspiration! I remember watching your movies when I was only 5 years old, and today with 23 I must say that it was a dream come true meeting you in person! You are my favorite artist! Thank you so much! ❤️✨
For a while there I was drawing Bagheera 😂 I don’t know how that happened. I fixed it by the end though lol. I love all the insight you gave us to how you came up with his design ❤ It’s so awesome that you’re doing this for us! I went to art school but that was like…a decade ago. Got sick so I didn’t graduate. But anyway, it’s so fun to learn from the masters how to draw characters I love. So thanks again!
He's a Disney animator who is so down to earth! Thank you, Master Blaise (I can call you nothing less) for being such an inspiration! I'm planning to enter an illustration major, and later animation. I may not get the big fish, as you did, but your artwork and almost paternal commentary have boosted my confidence.
The original Aladdin had characters that where iconic and were remember able even if they had shorter screen time. Raja made it's impact with it's cute and cuddling appearance. Really love your work and your inspirational wisdom
One thing that kinda bothered me is. I love realism in animated films. Because they are sapient but have eyebrows so it makes sense of them talking. But then i see live action real lions talk.... and it just doesnt work because lack of eyebrows and such. It just doesnt feel real or believable. Sorta same feeling i have with "Spirit" dreamworks movie. Where the horses never talk, yet they have eyebrows "even though real horses dont have eyebrows". Or its the logic i use when i try to bring myself into believing it haha
Rajah is my favorite Disney tiger, don't get me wrong I liked Tigger and Shere Khan but there was something about Rajah that made me love him more. And now I know you've designed him made it even better!
Oh my goodness imagine if Rajah had a daughter cub where Nala softness feel were added to the good heart of Rajah? 😍 It truly is such an honor to learn these things from you. I've always wanted to draw Nala and Rajah and I just never could figure it out on my own and my brain always does better in step by step visual like this so it means a lot! I look forward to see more of these, thank you so much for sharing this with us - it is so generous of you and it makes my heart feel all giddy with joy! I will definitely put both into practice and fulfill the life long wish to be able to draw these characters AND learn to create my own characters in similar styles which I've always wanted to do too but was scared to try! Thank you for being such a kind hearted person that spreads positive messages to people and share the joy of drawing. ❤ Have an amazing day with lots of smiles and good food. :)
Thank you, Aaron, for your amazingly helpful tutorial, not just the drawing part but also sharing a process of creating the character and describing how it was when you were with Disney - amazing really!
Rajah was always one of my favorites, along with Shere Khan. Tigers are my favorite animal, and while I'm not where I want to be at drawing them yet (I sort of took a break to learn to paint and improve my understanding of values) your course has been very helpful. You've been behind so many of my childhood favorites, it's magical to see you drawing them. ♡
I love all these videos that you put out Aaron but I almost love hearing about your past experiences the most. Seeing the artist you are now and learning about where you started from is so inspiring and I hope to be able to have such a great story to share with others one day.
I watched your video on 7 steps to character design and I was doing research for Tigers and I started understanding their anatomy and I was drawing them with all these things in mind and I found it much easier, now I'm in the design step and I like what you explain about using the elements of the animal to define form, this video in particular was very helpful in my specific case. Thanks Aaron
Oh my gosh! Jasmine is my favorite Disney Princess. I LOVE Rajah!! My favorite animal is a tiger. I don't know how I came across your videos, but I am so glad I did. Growing up I wanted my career to be animation. I've grown up mostly watching cartoons on tv. I can't believe your the guy who created Rajah.
Thank you, I find it more efficient to understand basic tiger shapes by looking at your drawing than looking at real tigers. It's like you've already deeply understood and digested these lines and you re-deliver them in a completely pedagogic and didactic way.
That's awesome! Rasha was a character I loved a lot when I was young, so inspiring to see behind the scenes and the actual traditional craft, thanks for sharing all this great stuff!! :D
I can’t believe I stumble upon this channel! I’ve been searching for some lessons about these movies you guys produce! So now I could at least get a general idea! Thank you so much for posting this!
Watching you talk about your designing process and experience and everything gives me the chills! Just makes me so proud to be taking the art path and i feel so honored to be learning from you ahh
I love that you posted this video after your live stream! I had a favorite Raja toy when I was a kid. I loved his puffy cheeks and fluid design. Even as a kid I remember trying to draw him with my crayons. Love learning from you!
Love these Aaron! I enjoy the stories and the lessons, and I always enjoy watching your drawings come to life. Rajah was a great character. Also, excellently filmed and edited. I appreciate that steady camera footage!
3:31 It's cool to see how Aaron's style changed. It used to have more straight angles. Very different from the smoother and rounder style that he has now.
I've been watching your channel for a few years now and seeing all of the work you do is amazing!! I'd love to see more videos like these, and maybe some more behind the scene photos, they were amazing to witness!♥
This is really amazing. I love seeing all the behind the scenes pictures from when you worked on the movie especially the one of you and the tiger cub. For some reason I always pictured Rajah as a girl, interesting to learn he was actually a boy all these years.
Aladdin was my favorite Disney movie as a kid and I love love loved Raja!! I would pretend to have Raja as a pet (along with a t-rex) and would play with them in my backyard! 😊❤️️🐯
Do you have a book? Not a how to draw book (though I would love that) , but a book about you and your experiences in animation? I feel like that would be a good read.
This was a fun tutorial. My Rajah looks more like Rajah's dimwitted 2nd cousin, but I had fun. I love learning about drawing in this Disney-like or western animation style. Need more. Not enough of these types of tutorials in the world.
OMG ! I love watching you sketch, Aaron. I have a lot of fun drawing along with you, too. I look forward to more sketching videos. Maybe some with multiple poses sketching of a selected character..? Would be cool, too.
Your work is most inspiring and I can't wait to see these cool how to draw videos❤ I've bought all your animal courses and love them all so much they truly help me! Thanks for making these videos to help us with our art.
I am no expert but my philosophy is you are never to young to start drawing/animating and pursing your passion. I would recommend getting a free animation program (I’d recommend Krita) and just start animating! I’d recommend watching channels like this and trying to find some courses or books! Good luck and it will be hard but it’ll be worth it! You will do great things
Also starting with the basics including a ball bouncing and a basic walk cycle (possibly working on landscapes like wind in the trees and things along those lines) just start with sketches and build on top of those layers. Good luck!
I really enjoy your videos. What i really love about disney is all thoughs details they "hide" on plain sight. "the devil is in the detail" literally xD 1st time i was introduced to this behinde the scene, was with Mulan. That story About how the artist got inspired by beautiful fences, so they took their design and made it the hairdo for all the girls who Should be reviewed for marriage
Yes Hi...I watched this video it was very informative..I been drawing for about 25-30 Years..I always love the Disney animation ..I look up to you guys.. I Am Trying to draw the the Aladdin charters myself ..So i did rajah and i know exactly what you were taking about when you stared to describe the feature of rajah like his nose or the dark lines around eyes...Its was so cool.I had to write in.. I notice that he not like a cartoony tiger there is very nice mix of real life and cartoon.Just a quick question ..Is there any way i can Email you the drawing i did...But again its so awesome to lean how to draw these charters from someone that actuality work on the movie..Also i will be using this as a reference to get better in drawing the character ..One more thing i watch the video of the Mulan characters you did it blow me away..People sometime don't realize it take thousands and thousands of hours drawing the animation and all the work you have to put in to it .To make the finish product it can be exhausting..One more thing real quick i know i a little long wind it here..To find someone that work on the Disney flims on RUclips is truly Awesome..And you doing the step by step..drawing of the character is gold i love it...This really will help me become a better artist...Thank you

Soon!
Oh my god YES
Was "Brother Bear" the last Big Disney 2D movie?. I do miss 2D animation alot!
@kejiri3593 Technically it was Winnie the Pooh that was in 2011
Sounds like you had the coolest job, hanging out with real tigers and drawing them. Thanks for sharing
For a while there I was drawing Bagheera 😂 I don’t know how that happened. I fixed it by the end though lol. I love all the insight you gave us to how you came up with his design ❤

that is beyond amazing to know what your inspiration was for Rajah. Its so random and obscure but thats a fantastic end result!
He's a Disney animator who is so down to earth! Thank you, Master Blaise (I can call you nothing less) for being such an inspiration! I'm planning to enter an illustration major, and later animation. I love hearing about the steps you took to get to the Final Design for these characters.
this is so amazing. seeing you draw rajah filled me with joy and a crazy will to pick up drawing again
Old School Cool =D
I personally don't need all these live action remakes. Originals were the best.
Absolutely, live action+cgi remakes are ugly.
@@delko000 Yup!

it's so calming watching you work, you can see the years of practice and extensive research condensed into perfectly executed marks
“They’re gggrrreat!!” Hahaha. Great stuff Aaron!
Sergio Ribeiro .. no
When you got your first big break designing Rajah, were you terribly stressed? Do you have any tips for dealing with the pressure?
one year and no reply, must be rough
Itchy Doggi Oop
Itchy tasty

I really liked how you managed to explain Rajah in the shape of his face and body. That’s my favorite part of Disney’s films! 🤗

I'm not able to comprehend how people prefer 3D animation movies and live action versions of the classic ones rather than this
This man deserves 1million subs ❤❤
You’re a great drawer now I learned how to draw , nala, ANd RAJAH in ONE day your like a animating bob ross!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ooooh. So cute, I love all big cats.

Love these Aaron! I enjoy the stories and the lessons, and I always enjoy watching your drawings come to life. Rajah was a great character. Also, excellently filmed and edited. I appreciate that steady camera footage!
Do you have any books published with a compilation of sketches that you drew?
I second this question, I would love to know as well 😁
This video is fantastic! I love to hear about the history and see old photos. That part is priceless! Thanks!!!!!
Wow! This really helped me create my own tiger design! :D
3:31 It's cool to see how Aaron's style changed. It used to have more straight angles. Very different from the smoother and rounder style that he has now.
ahhhh love your work so much! You inspire me as an animator every day! Thank you for creating such films!!!!!
Thanks for doing this, Aaron. My kid’s class requested a lesson in how to draw Rajah. Now I know how.
It was so interesting seeing the history of how the character came to be! ❤
Love the Work Aaron
Love this. I bought the perspective course preorder!
Can you do Aladdin next?
Also can you make an Aladdin flip book
Amazing! Such enjoyable design. And it’s nice to hear your process!

Anyone knows what pencil is he using durnig the video?(And can you guys tell If there is a link where we can see what tools he is using?)
So cool.
Awesome!! 🐅🐯🐾❤️
Have you ever animated a realistic leopard with all its spots?
It would be Incredible to see the 3D effect that gives the design!
Can you try?
thank you so much for this masterpiece
I still thunk the best thing about Aaron is that he's doing all of this as a lefty. I'm sorry but that's awesome.
super pretty cool!!!
