Aaron Blaise drawing. Me: Nice! Unexpectedly, Aaron Blaise "we're artists and we're meant to put beauty back in the world. Go put something good into the world." Me, holding back tears: NicE
I can't believe you made two amazing sketches in twenty minutes. They're far better than anything I've ever drawn! You're so talented and I'm so grateful that you're teaching us how to make good art.
Aaron - I would love to see a video series that focuses specifically on character expressions (humanoid, animal and fantasy creatures). That's an area I struggle with. You're an amazing teacher - thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
I've started the character design course and it really changed the way I think about each step when I am developing my characters and my drawings in general. I truly encourage everyone to do this course, it makes you grow a lot as an artist and for that I am really thankful to Aaron!
This was very helpful I try looking up tutorials and they usually don’t explain it thorough enough but you actually teach instead of just showing it, thank you for that !
Hi! I just wanted to thank you so much for the brief 'jaw hinge' demonstration! It sounds stupid, but I never thought about the jaw like that before, and it has truly helped- I've struggled with the lower jaw forever. Many thanks again! :D
I wish the old style Disney films would be back in style, it just feels off seeing all the new tech that’s gone into animation, not that that’s a bad thing, but I really do miss the handmade drawings that would make up a beautiful animation 💖 amazing drawings by the way
Your videos are so inspiring, every single time that I watch one of your video I instantly want to draw, sketch and paint ! And no need to say that your art is just incedible ! Love it !
Thank you! This was great. I draw daily cartoons of birds and post them on IG, and the principles you talk about here will be very helpful as I continue working on my drawing and cartooning skills.
this is a really weird comment but listening to him breath when he is drawing makes me really happy. My father used to be an artist before he died and id watch him draw and id listen to him breath while he draws and this man just reminds me of my dad.
Nice one Aaron, I liked what you said, 'a caricature is an abstraction.' Never thought of it like that. You and I not only have the same desk but I'm also left handed and must have a few mutual friends or may even have met if you worked in London or Munich. Long story short I spent about 20 years in the biz with my best ever job, 6 months working on the Rabbit in Camden Town, London in 1987 and got the job because of a newspaper advert found by a friend, I passed the drawing test they gave us which was to copy various characters, mine was the Fantasia ostridge. At the films end I bought my light table/desk, a pop up with round bit of Perspex and the peg bar stuck to it which makes the drawing work much easier to do. All the animators used a blue or orange (didn't show up on the Xerox), with an HB pencil line finish, as an inbetweener we were supposed to wait on our floor for the scenes of work to be brought to us but this was too slow and my usual method of getting work was to go and meet the animators, the one's that I got on I worked with like Tom Sito, Allan Simpson, Pete Western, Al Gaivoto, Hal Clay etc. During the late evening and week-end overtime work I rescued drawings and deleted scenes from the waste bin next to their desks before the cleaners emptied them. I tried getting work from Andreas Dejas but he was always guarded by a big, fierce blond lady assistant who already did all of his work, she also really fancied Andreas who was already spoken for and in a relationship. It was fun hassling for scenes to clean-up and inbetween and I worked like that in most big studio's for a few years then I got a film job abroad and moved to Bavaria and worked for TC Studio's as an assistant animator on a childrens film called Peterchens Mondphart (little Peter go to the Moon), I quit when everything went digital in about 2001 and the commercial studio I worked for bought an Animo system. These days I point and plaster walls in lime putty mortar (with fibres) using my own slaked quick-lime and work at repairing old buildings and churches. So if you want any lime plastering or stone carving call me first please.
Hey Aaron - I have a real hard time drawing an animals nose/snout (can't think of the correct terminology) would you consider doing a basics video where you deal specifically with the construction and attaching this section to the rest of the head? I'm trying to teach myself to draw anthropomorphic characters but I find that all my fundamentals on character design and appeal go out the window because getting the forms and perspective right takes so much of my concentration. Even if I do get it right I end up with an unappealing or dull character.
Make sure to do some anatomy studies! What I like to do is to break down the face into different shapes. Once you get these you can try putting them together. I know Im really late ouo''
A lot of his work seems to show how different forms and techniques compliment each other. Like here where people merging with animals then combine with squash and stretch animation (see: how to animate a bouncing ball) and anatomy. In another work he might show how all that can combine into a landscape. Seems like learning and merging forms is a big thing he can teach. Which is awesome.
Hi, Aaron! Could you please consider doing a live stream video of Brother Bear? The art and character design is beautiful in this movie, and I would really love to see you demonstrate and explain the process of bringing these characters to life.
Fabulous I hope to see more animation lessons I bought all your lessons and I have membership And thank you for all this beauty which you share with us A big fan from Saudi Arabia
Hi Aaron - you've been a inspiration since i was a child, i used to draw your characters from movies when i was younger, however i never knew it was you designing some of these characters. you know reignited my passion for drawing again so many years later. I see there is no new season which makes me sad. please make more content so we can get all the cute and all the beauty out. I lived in my creative world most of my life (in my head) and it helped me through all the hard times in my life. I will tag you in a painting i am doing with my new wacom at some point i hope i really hope you will make some more small guides like this. its awesome.
I bought a few of your courses on anatomy a few weeks ago and I've improved sm, like seriously thank you. I was wondering if you'd ever consider (or have done) and tutorials on birds and/ or lizards?
Had a comic idea going before covid hit and just now resurrecting what I had from the ground up, starting with solid character designs. (The ten pages I had done are all... not good.) Doing owls and crows rather than lions, but same principles apply. Thanks for all the help and tips! I am going to be working on the characters and not doing "final" panels for months and I'm proud of it but also very tired.
hey Mr.Blaise. I'm 18 years old animator and I'm working so hard that one day I wish to be a person like you and other successful waltdisney and pixar animators and other artists. I really love your artworks. I like paper animation Technique and many times I practice drawing. I always follow all the tips that you said in your videos and it is so helpful for me. I just wanna thanks... and have 2 questions: can you tell us more about human anatomy? can you please give us some tips about working with colour pencils? I appreciate if you anwser my questions. thank you sir again. sincerely. Hossein Moein.
Hossein Moein aaron has a whole course on human anatomy on his website! I bought it and finished the whole thing while drawing along and it helped so much! ^^
How easy it looks for you to draw, wow. I wish it was same here, hehe. Im learning anatomy and it is just wonky and I feel like fearing to do any longer line, so even short line are made with even shorter lines. Anyway, I love your channel and thank you for all of your videos with those great tips!
Patrix8558 hey dude, you gotta get brave and try and make long confident lines. Also getting good at drawing and anatomy takes time, it's a life long adventure of improvement and it should be fun.keep drawing dude
Love your work and all of your videos. Could you please provide some additional info on the holder and the pastel stick - - name brand, source, etc. Thank you.
Hello Aaron. I follow you some time ago. I´m animator since 1972. I´m from CAli, Colombia, South America. Always in the analog world. Now I´m trying digital. Thanks a lot for your generosity and profesionalism. Can I ask you a favor? Can you teach us how to paint fire in photoshop? I need to paint and animate a campfire. Thanks again!!!
I love how this guy just pulls out a skull for each animal
@corn on a kobi absolutely right.
Aaron Blaise drawing.
Me: Nice!
Unexpectedly, Aaron Blaise "we're artists and we're meant to put beauty back in the world. Go put something good into the world."

Damn that's true
That hit me as hard as Minecraft´s ending poem
Me too. Whenever he says it, I choke up just a little.
I can't believe you made two amazing sketches in twenty minutes. They're far better than anything I've ever drawn! You're so talented and I'm so grateful that you're teaching us how to make good art.
Hm, I am not sure if that's talent. It's a lot of practise

I love your art dude!!! I'm learning from you so much about anatomy!! Thanks a lot!
You're welcome, I'm always happy to help my fellow artists~!
Just watching how each of his lines he builds off of and not erasing them makes me realize just how skilled he is.
Years and years of a well honed craft and pure talent on display for everyone to see. What an absolute treat to watch.
One video in and this man is now my fav artist. Keep doing what you're doing, please
You have major skills, dude!
I'm Brazilian, and since I was a kid I like cartoons. But your drawings are light years ahead of mine. Incredible.
Do you have an oc duo
This was very helpful I try looking up tutorials and they usually don’t explain it thorough enough but you actually teach instead of just showing it, thank you for that !
I'm mesmerised just by watching you draw... binge watching your videos, they are an incredible help!!! thank you !

I've always loved to draw on large paper, especially because you can get more expressive, gestural lines by moving your entire arm.
I could watch this guy draw all day
Oh mah god I love tradition animation. I've hit a bump in the road when it comes to drawing characters and expressions and this helped me so much ;3;
Love his works, Genius!

Aaron Blaise is a genius too.
Do you have a video explaining how the backgrounds were made back in the day? Tips in painting them?
Awesome video! Thanks, Aaron.

Sure!
Aaaaand that first lion drawing looks remarkably like the character I made for animating, of course! xD
Awesome video as always, Aaron!!
Your little fursona/RUclips character thingy is so cute!
The bear is insanely good. I prefer stylized characterized art much more than more realistic styles. Your artwork is spectacular, Aaron.
Man I want to watch some brother bear now!!! :)
I Love The Drawing Of Bear
That bear looks like it could be adult Koda.
