This phone is still awesome 4 years later and I'm talking about after some extremely heavy use. I haven't had any system updates in a couple of years. I think it's MAX'd out. I still get compliments and curious observations. HTC was right about the demand for larger screens. Now my Max is small compared to the phones on the market in 2018. Battery is still powerfull, screen's in good shape and the dual front speakers still blast away. The earbud audio sound quality is premium. I got lucky when I chose this device.
You asked who this phone is for: ME!! I HATE little phones. HTC has combined the whopper screen, 1080, with the front stereo speakers I want. Hats off to HTC. I'm buying it. Thanks for the review, and God bless.
I've had my HTC One Max for about 3 months and it performs very well. Has some great features. I bought it as a second phone to function both as a phone and to have the very high quality screen and some tablet like experience. The camera is tricky but it's a good device. Very solid and high end feeling. I also have fairly large hands and have large pockets. It is pretty good side. You did give it a good and fair review. The reason I got it is it was quite literally the biggest phone at the Verizon Store.
I love big phones. I currently have the Mega and I love it. I had the Skyrocket - Note 2. I love the mega because of the large display. I been researching the One Max and I been considering it.
Got the opportunity to use one back then. Big phone, great screen, underrated experience. Ultimately obsoleted by a lack of additional models (and I think it was one of the last “old tech” phones before they all jumped to 64-bit arm technology… I think). Still… I wish I had one.
I've been using it since a week and so far is the best phone ever made. Is big but I simply love it. You'll get used to it (especially when you watch videos and play games), now I look a other devices and i feel shame for them when I think how small they are. This beast is simply made for multimedia and browsing on internet. it's a zero lag phone. It doesn't need 3 gb of ram or a 800 processor is just simply amazing how fast it is, I've always wanted an HTC one and this one was the perfect match for me. The build quality is amazingly sturdy and sleek is like an Ipad (only good gadget from Apple) and the HTC sense is so simple to use and the minimalistic styling makes it more comfortable to the eye. The finger print reader works really good and the Ultra pixel camera is a way to go when you want nice shots at night. HTC one Max definitely best phone ever.
My HTC One Max is on its way, and as a current owner of a Moyotola Droid Razr Maxx and a heavy daily user, I went with the One Max soley for battery purposes, because one you are used to laughing in everyone's face for their phone dying conatantly, you don't want to be one of those people anymore. The screen size won't affect me any because I have large hands unlike the person doing the review, who appeared to have pretty small hands. Which I am actually looking forward to a larger screen and dual front facing speakers, because I drive a Semi and sometimes my phone is all the entertainment I have before I hop up in the sleeper.
Love my htc one max. Best phone ever.. never have to worry about battery.. pics are amazing.. videos even better.. best phone on the planet.. handsd down
Definitely the type of phone I've been looking for. Fast, big, and loud not to mention long battery life. I will b picking this up on my next upgrade for sure
I've had the HTC one max for about two weeks now & , must say, I love it. I just left the HTC rezound in the hopes of finding a "much" larger phone with just the right amount of background and play things & without all the bloatware...& no, it's not really meant to be used one handed,,,by most.
will u share an experience with me about the one max . i will buy soon but in malaysia not lunch yet . if u dun mind . send private video of ur onemax about connecting the 3.5audio jack with high end home theater it best with beataudio or without . :) thank
Have HTC one and don't regret it it's been up against many phones this year and even rooted a great phone can't wait for HTC 2 hopefully and kit Kat for this device
I just got the HTC one max , and I love it !! This is my first android , and it has exceeded my expectations !! I've been Apple all my life , I had the Apple iPhone 5c , and I have to say , I love this phone WAY BETTER !! It had some stuff I wish Apple had , and Apple has some stuff I wish this phone had , but over all , I love this phone WAY BETTER !!
I've been using an HTC one max for the past couple of weeks. While I will say specs don't hold a candle to current front runners, the machine can certainly hold its own. The screen in particular, combined with boom sound, produce an experience that media-consuming phone users will enjoy. If you find yourself having to transition into this phone, or look at it in a store in a mobile carrier and decide to give it a whirl because the price is right, don't worry and don't run the other way-this is going to treat you nicely. The android community will certainly be able to help you with options and ways to customize the device, along with the possibility of even routing the phone and maybe even flashing a custom ROM on to it.
My cousin is 45% blind in both eyes and has just bought the galaxy mega. He's days it's brilliant because he can read text clearly and at at much larger font. He's very impressed and happy that companies are offering phone with much larger screens :)
loving the idea of phablets, I bought the galaxy note 1 when it first came out, and needless to say it was a fantastic experience. however, after nearly two years of usage, its earphone jack broke, and ive always thought the phone was too plastic, so I decided to try the one max, despite weak reviews like you know, everywhere. the premium build of the one max really did stand up to expectations, the boomsound speakers are just in a class of its own and the camera is pretty good too (given you're okay with a slightly lower megapixel than peers). BUT, being an owner of both samsung's and htc's 1st phablet, I would say samsung easily nailed it more, there are just so much Samsung has to offer, with the likes of the s-pen right down to its multitasking ability, so if I were to choose again, I'd probably have gone with note 3. but hey, everyone is on note 3 now in the city, so it's nice to have something different!
I currently own the HTC ONE. In my opinion it's the best smart phone I've owned so far. I've also owned iPhones ad well and the experience of the HTC ONE has been extremely fun. It was a bit tricky to learn it's software but that was the only hurdle I came across. I would own a ONE MAX. I just hope they bring in more colors for the model. Black please.
this is an amazing phone/tablet....the fingerprint security feature is great. i had several coworkers try to get into it without success. the front facing speakers are awesome to a musichead like me. its going to take an extraordinary device to get me to move off this phablet.
Nearly 2 years later, I have decided to buy this one. I use my phone mainly for RUclips and music. BoomSound and the 6 inch display is enough for me. Considering they're as old as they are, we're talking dirt cheap.
Gotta love the way Michael handles bloopers lol As for the phone, I have big hands and pockets so I could get into it. Could use a few bumps in some of the specs (my current device is a pantech burst that has a 5mp camera).
Like several other outlets, we used the device for seven days under a press embargo. This is fairly standard practice; we've done it quite a few times before. ^MF
I am so glad I bought my Note 3 this past Sunday. I was waiting just to see how the HTC One Max was going to be and dont regret buying the Note 3. Loved my Note 2 but had to move on lol
i like the idea of them doing a bigger phone, i wouldnt miind having one because it could be a more productive size, does the sound still sound a deep as it used to on the one?
I just picked one up today and this is my first phablet phone I've been wanting a bigger phone because I do watch a lot of videos and movies and brows the web a lot on my phone so I wanted to try a bigger device. Can't wait for this phone to get 4.4 kitkat
Thank you very much for the video. I have walked into two sprint stores and looked at the HTC one (The original). The biggest problem that i had with the phone is the fact that it did not have the micro sd card slot. Big turn off sense i would have to backup my phone to my computer and have to transfer all my music to the phone it self. The rest of the phone was fine. Hearing those features taken away is a surprise to me. But the phone still goes a long way from the first version.
This phone is for me!! I say that because when I first got my hands on the HTC one I was like its wayyyy to small but I loved all the software features. Needless to say when the max came out I was like yes and with a sd card slot!! I was sold. Btw htc makes better software then Samsung
Great perspective. I currently own an HTC One and Note 3. I couldn't see myself with a One Max and I am a diehard HTC fan. I don't think anyone really wants a giant sized One. Although we praise the added ST slot and larger battery, the camera really should have been upgraded and some type of software add on to truly benefit from the larger screen.
I am glad I went ahead and got the Note 3 because I considered waiting till q4 and getting the Max but I am disappointed that HTC didn't put more effort into it
Well i just picked up the Htc one max and let me start by saying it is only my 2nd "smart phone", the first being the iphone 4s which i've had for two years so naturally i'm impressed with everything about it even if the android platform is completely new. I'm 6ft 3 and have what some would consider huge hands so the size of the phone is just down right perfect. It is honestly everything i want out of a phone which is entertainment. Personally the huge screen is more than enough to make up for the fact that im carrying a brick around in my pocket. 9.5/10
Its definitely for me!!! The only thing I use my phone for is Games,RUclips, and Music...I'm already use to carrying my nexus 7 in my pocket at all times so the size won't bother me at all..
iSay you get the HTC One Max. Most iPhone users don't like the bloat of Android devices which Samsung is all in for, and I've seen stories where iPhone users go back to Apple after using a Samsung device. Get the One. It might be the One.
this phone is for people who consume a lot of media through their phones and want a huge screen, but don't want a tablet. its on my short list of possible upgrades, along with the note 3 and the LG g3. Cannot decide! some sort of hybrid of all three would be perfect.
ive had it a few weeks now and its a great phone, its heavier than most but it fits in all my trousers so far with no problems and the battery could easily last you 2 days with light usage
the camera is average at best if you use your camera a lot id suggest a different phone its really not one of its selling points, the camera on the note 3 you have would be far superior
My friends like HTC one very much, recently they told me there's a smartphone named OrientPhone S6 , very similar with HTC one , also has the function of air gesture, but i do not know if is run well than HTC one?
I guess I was one of the people asking for this phone but I did think think it would have the 800 processor and maybe a better camera. I am glad that it has an SD card slot though! That's awesome!
I just bought the maxx with Sprint & I fell in love with it when I saw it at Sprint, gt it home & couldn't b happier ....can't wait to c people staring, I prefer a heavier phone btw all these light ones I feel like I'm going to break, nt sure bout battery life yet (gonna wait till I fully charge it & use it for a coupla days , love one feature (nt sure if it's in all androids but hidden) emoticons btr than the iPhone I say honestly. Ugh I could go on, only thing I need help with is figuring out how to make it a usb drive, can access memory card but nt internal, any help would b grearmy appriciated
Hi How's the the Htc One Maxx treating you from sprint? I'm thinking about getting that or the iPhone 6. Just wanted to know your thoughts on the phone now. Let me know as soon as you can.
I have the HTC ONE, broke it and I had to buy a new one because I really fell in love with how amazing it is. If I knew there was a bigger HTC ONE, I shouldve gotten it instead
Reviews shouldn't criticize the size of it. Few years back people were using less than 4" screens which are now way too small for anything. If you don't like to have a phone that big, it's not a weakness of it. It's choise. I have a first generation Galaxy Note and I wouldn't go back to under 5" screens. Big phones have their buyers, it just needs to be well made and feel premium quality. I'm considering this one but I'm not sure if Note 3 would be a better option.
I looked at the htc one today. Was nice. The sales person said it is a nice Phone. The sales person said you can't beat the Samsung. The Note is better for multitasking more like a tablet.
I know people its batching this phone because it does no have the best spec, and a pletorra of new features, but I can of appreciate that a manufacturer don't release a phone with incomplete, under performing apps, as choose to do well with complete apps that offer reliable performance, it kind of makes you feel respected, just like you wouldn't give half cook food to friends
I previously owned the HTC One on Verizon LTE, it was impressive compared to the latest HTC DNA, which was an excuse for a smart phone. Anyways, the HTC ONE MAX, IMPRESSED! Battery life is unreal, about 32-35 hours of consistant use on a full battery. Camera, the 4 ULTRAPIXEL is impressive. I like being able to remove the BlinkFeed, and turn off ZOE on the camera. Keyboard is responsive and bold, which works great for people with big fingers. Stylus?! Thats samsungs backup for making a horrible phone. The Note 3 has repetitive reception problems because Samsung think they need all the "cute" software that does no good. HTC however has built a great antenna and an overall great phone! HTC will be my new favorite!
I'd buy the iPhone if I were you. It's expensive, but it's worth the money. Unless you want unnecessary (IMO) features like being able to customize a few things a bit. Fits most pockets really well, and runs very smooth too. Screen size bothers people for some reason, though it also fits most hands without being uncomfortable, if you use it with one hand. There's a large selection of great apps, and the UI is pretty easy to understand too.
Well.. i just bought it a few days ago. The phone too big for one handed user.. in terms of battery it wont let you down. It does last for the whole day for heavy usage. Very loud speaker. Fingerprint swipe to unlocked did very well. Super smooth UI. Overall i did learn a few tricks regards the phone. It does take sometimes to get used to the supersized phone.
Great use of Psy Trance music in the background! Please never stop doing that and I shall stay a happy subscriber! All the other reviews use the worst most boring dull background music, puts you to sleep before the review is over.
There's talk HTC is gonna release an old favourite updated for 2020.. I hope it's this one with a bigger battery, oled screen and a stunning camera/camera's... It was an amazing phone when it first Debued..
I really want One max. But I am with Tmobile. And there are gsm version of this phone on eBay. I just wanted to know if someone knows if its the real HTC phone, or some kind of aftermarket. Thanks!!
Excellent review! I was curious about the all the things you deacribed disappointing as they were on HTC's part. The Note 3 seems to be the best option, for me anyway.
This phone is still awesome 4 years later and I'm talking about after some extremely heavy use. I haven't had any system updates in a couple of years. I think it's MAX'd out. I still get compliments and curious observations.

I bought my HTC 2,5years ago... I still feel like it really worth the money, those devices are the rolls-royce of cellphones :D
not anymore lmao
This has aged like milk
You asked who this phone is for: ME!! I HATE little phones. HTC has combined the whopper screen, 1080, with the front stereo speakers I want. Hats off to HTC. I'm buying it. Thanks for the review, and God bless.

Visiting from the future on a Galaxy flip 3. Loved this phone back in the day.

Still gonna buy it , I have the desire 816 and i can't afford the M8 so I'm getting the one max , the price has gone down like crazy
I love that Michael Fisher always plays Pinback on his reviews. Insightful, articulate reviews AND excellent taste in music.
I would love to see Max running Windows!
I've been using it since a week and so far is the best phone ever made. Is big but I simply love it. I don't know if this matters or not..but I have the exact same jacket as the dude in the video.
Same Taylor so yes this matters
It's ALL I want and others who are coming from an HTC EVO; like me. It's an much awaited upgrade. Thanks HTC!
8:33 what game is that?
Asphalt 8

Not a phone for my average sized hands
Sick of the spam comments ?, if you have a Htc's phone which you want to get unlocked then go to freehtcunlock .net. Check thsi site out for sure
Have HTC one and don't regret it it's been up against many phones this year and even rooted a great phone can't wait for HTC 2 hopefully and kit Kat for this device
Best phone I have ever had.
Brenda Ruvalcaba does it have a ir blaster ? Thanks
I was one of those people that said, "this needs to be bigger". I like it.
The good ol days
I just got the HTC one max , and I love it !! This is my first android , and it has exceeded my expectations !! Yeah, I got this phone recently too! So, much fun.
Do get the occasional, "Wow, nice iPad".
ANameYouCanRemember Haha brilliant!
What do you mean "you just got this phone ". They still have this phone in the store? Where did you get yours?
greetrigh28
I bought mine new from eBay. Good price, good dealers.
greetrigh28about $225.00 on ebay right now killer price, thinking of getting one, old school? Maybe, but for that price! Worth it.
I've been using an HTC one max for the past couple of weeks. While I will say specs don't hold a candle to current front runners, the machine can certainly hold its own. The screen in particular, combined with boom sound, produce an experience that media-consuming phone users will enjoy.

what are the three dots on the back of the phone on the bottom? are those like a battery level light or what? burning question
You have the best voice of all the reviewers on youtube!
loving the idea of phablets, I bought the galaxy note 1 when it first came out, and needless to say it was a fantastic experience. however, after nearly two years of usage, its earphone jack broke, and ive always thought the phone was too plastic, so I decided to try the one max, despite weak reviews like you know, everywhere. the premium build of the one max really did stand up to expectations, the boomsound speakers are just in a class of its own and the camera is pretty good too (given you're okay with a slightly lower megapixel than peers). The best phone I ever had. I miss it.
Not yet. It was just officially announced by HTC yesterday. Guessing it'll come out in Late November/Early December

Whats the bubble game called at 8:35?
this is an amazing phone/tablet....the fingerprint security feature is great. i had several coworkers try to get into it without success. the front facing speakers are awesome to a musichead like me. its going to take an extraordinary device to get me to move off this phablet.
Just ordered mine c: I had a Dell Streak 5 and loved the 5inch screen so I decided to take it up a notch. Cant wait for it to come in
Nearly 2 years later, I have decided to buy this one.
I use my phone mainly for RUclips and music. BoomSound and the 6 inch display is enough for me. Considering they're as old as they are, we're talking dirt cheap.
They are still 200 and up
Joseph Felix In Australia, RRP for old phones can still be around $600-800.
Thank you God for creating eBay haha
As a big guy im very happy that there is a phone this big it has enuff room for me to do what I need it. Great review to
Gotta love the way Michael handles bloopers lol

when does this come out in the US for TMobile?
This phone is for me!! I say that because when I first got my hands on the HTC one I was like its wayyyy to small but I loved all the software features. Needless to say when the max came out I was like yes and with a sd card slot!! I was sold. Btw htc makes better software then Samsung

Can someone tell me what those 3 holes on the bottom right of the back cover are?
How did you continuous scroll on the note 3? I have one on Verizon and it will not do it.
How did you get the phone before 7 days of the announcement?
Michael - which is better one max, galaxy note 3 or experia z1 in overall performance?
will it come with different colors like the htc one?
Not for me... but I have an HTC One. This helped me decide to not "Jump" with T-Mobile to the HTC One Max. Excellent review.
Simply the best review on RUclips period.
I have the note 3 and its the best phone I had, no regrets or complaints about this amazing phone.
Is this still a good phone ? I have a 5s right now and I want something bigger but I don't want to spend as much money
get the Nexus 6
well price wise, you shouldn't get the max then maybe a nexus 6
the one max is very cheap now, but outclassed by other phablets.
How long has this phone been out? Should I hold out for maybe a new one coming soon?
How much is it? Without contract and please do a comparison between this and note 3
Will HTC provide a suitcase large enough to suit this phone?
I am glad I went ahead and got the Note 3 because I considered waiting till q4 and getting the Max but I am disappointed that HTC didn't put more effort into it

I just wanna know how does this phone compare to the xperia z ultra , could you please do that?
Does it have a radio tuner built in? I like to listen to radio
You mean FM Radio? Yes, it does.
Should i buy this phone, htc one or galaxy note 3? I currently got iphone 4s but after the update i hated my iphone

i wanna get the max i have the note 3 but i wont a biger phone
ive had it a few weeks now and its a great phone, its heavier than most but it fits in all my trousers so far with no problems and the battery could easily last you 2 days with light usage
Oh okay i have the 3 so its a good phone....as for the camera and the pics come out good
the camera is average at best if you use your camera a lot id suggest a different phone its really not one of its selling points, the camera on the note 3 you have would be far superior
HTC finally made the back removable once again . Great Job !
My friends like HTC one very much, recently they told me there's a smartphone named OrientPhone S6 , very similar with HTC one , also has the function of air gesture, but i do not know if is run well than HTC one?
@Michael easily the best videos on pocketnow! Keep em coming
I got my one like 3 weeks ago and love it, this thing is huge but honestly I'd get it
I guess I was one of the people asking for this phone but I did think think it would have the 800 processor and maybe a better camera. I am glad that it has an SD card slot though! That's awesome!
Is this phone still worthed to buy in these recent day?
What is the game at 08:34? Thanks

Hi
How's the the Htc One Maxx treating you from sprint? I'm thinking about getting that or the iPhone 6. Just wanted to know your thoughts on the phone now. Let me know as soon as you can.
Does the one maxx have beats audio??
i got ma lg g pro wich is the best sized screen phablet for one hand ops along with very good specs imo
I have the HTC ONE, broke it and I had to buy a new one because I really fell in love with how amazing it is. If I knew there was a bigger HTC ONE, I shouldve gotten it instead
very nice review! But it's a shame that the camera have not a optic stabilisation, and still use the older Snapdragon 600, why is that?
Reviews shouldn't criticize the size of it. Few years back people were using less than 4" screens which are now way too small for anything. If you don't like to have a phone that big, it's not a weakness of it. It's choise. I have a first generation Galaxy Note and I wouldn't go back to under 5" screens. Big phones have their buyers, it just needs to be well made and feel premium quality. I'm considering this one but I'm not sure if Note 3 would be a better option.
A massive high def screen and fantastic sounding speakers that are better then any other phone are enough reasons alone to buy this.
I looked at the htc one today. Was nice. The sales person said it is a nice Phone. The sales person said you can't beat the Samsung. The Note is better for multitasking more like a tablet.
Seems like a great multimedia device. most of my daily use is media consumption and reading which makes this a perfect fit.
is it updated to 4.4 kitkat?
I know people its batching this phone because it does no have the best spec, and a pletorra of new features, but I can of appreciate that a manufacturer don't release a phone with incomplete, under performing apps, as choose to do well with complete apps that offer reliable performance, it kind of makes you feel respected, just like you wouldn't give half cook food to friends
Why you don't include XPERIA Z ULTRA in size comparisons?
HTC will be my new favorite!
can anyone tell me what game he is playing at 8:33? ...thnx in advance
I have the max, love the phone, my last phone was the HTC OneS (Desire in other countries)
Hey michael fisher what about Samsungs new homesync !!!is it good.
I love great design, both UI and hardware. I love multi window. I love Dual Face Speaker, I love great camera and specs.
WTF WHICH IS THE ONE!?
I've been waiting for this phone.....
I held back on One, still using One X now
Well.. i just bought it a few days ago.
