      Yeah, got this recommended to me just now too. Lol.
      Boy HTC really dropped the ball somewhere (ahem, marketing). I recall they were the first in many things, but never got to capitalize on them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 10 was the first phone to use a USB C port?

    This phone is truly greatness. The metal construction, fast processor, boomsound stereo speaker, swipe gestures, Blinkfeed, IR blaster, etc, easily a premium device. And HTC was generous enough to give 32g with $200 with 128GB expandible. Too bad it didn't sell no where near Iphones, and Galaxys. HTC really deserve a lot more sales.
    This just shows that even the best products don't always sell well

    Wow, look at the vision behind the M8. It already had a dual-cam system and blurring background effect which is a popular and must-have feature these days. It already had the 3D photo effect which is very similar to facebook 3D photo today. The dual front-facing speaker was also a huge win back then and even until now not every flagship phone has this feature. Hats off to HTC and I feel very bad for their situation right now.

    I'm going to pass on this phone and I'll tell you why.
    Preface: I have used this phone for myself.
    *1). Camera:* Come on, lets face it - this phone doesn't take the best photos. As a person who likes to take the occasional photo, this phone can't do the job. And seriously HTC - You took out optical image stabilization? Come on!
    *2). Weight:* This phone is completely metal, which is great from a build quality perspective - but to be honest, it REALLY weighs down the phone.
    *3). Slippery:* This phone has NO grip. You WILL drop this phone if you don't
    have a case. When Marques says this phone can be slippery - he means it!
    This thing will fall right between your hands. But keep in mind - if you use a case, your taking away the very thing that people love most about this device - the build quality - the feel of the phone!
    I commend HTC for being different. Introducing front facing boom speakers, innovating a whole new camera, etc. But with all that being said - I think the cons outweigh the Pros.

    • @tmat04
      @tmat04 10 лет назад

      A phone that is ALMOST entirely metal is sure to feel slippery. However, from my experience with handling big phones, they don't easily fall from your hand like the smaller ones do. And, who knows, maybe that is why HTC decided to increase the size....They knew that adding more metal would cause the phone to be slippery.

    • @ocping
      @ocping 10 лет назад +2

      You got it right. I have the HTC One and I absolutely am perplexed with the extreme variance in quality of photos taken at the same exact place. As you also stated, the image stabilization is complete crap. I have no idea how a bigger sensor can come up with some really crappy looking photos but that's the HTC One camera for you.
      I love the phone speakers but it's not as big a deal clincher as the camera is a deal breaker.

  • @JohnsonStPetersonson

      Shaun Nicholson tell me about it. The sales reps only care about making commission. The HTC One M8 is $636... The Samsung Galaxy S5 is $660. End of story. They make more money by selling the more expensive phone they don't care about the customer or their needs and/or desires.

    If it wasn't for the camera and lack of water resistance I would preorder this phone right now. Xperia Z2 just seems like a much better option this year. ( front- facing speakers, 3gb ram, 20.7MP camera, Snapdragon 801, SD slot, 5.2 inch IPS display)

    • @dracokev
      @dracokev 10 лет назад +1

      Wait, water resistance does this to your phone:
      1)all your ports are blocked by ugly flaps. if one of those break, and they will, water resistance gone.
      2) speakers are of ridiculously bad quality.
      And nobody even needs water resistance; it's just a cool feature.

    • @SHEM_pl
      @SHEM_pl 10 лет назад +3

      dracokev There is a test comparing speaker quality between Z2 and new HTC one and the revier claims that they are in fact very good on both devices and that Z2 is only slightly inferior
      When it comes to flaps... The headphone jack which I would use the most does not have them. The rest of the flaps on the other hand don't bother me and protect the ports from dust etc.

    I am very new to Android and HTC...
    (I am like more to apple)
    But im getting a new phone, and im kind of bored of Apple Devices... same repeated stuff to me.
    So I wanted to get the HTC One M8.
    I was just not sure which HTC One M8 to get...
    Do I get HTC One M8 or HTC One M8 Google Play Edition.
    I have no Idea, 0%, of what the the difference is of these phones...
    But I did see a RUclips video online where this guy was playing games on those 2 phones, and it lagged on the HTC One M8, but ran very smoothly on HTC One M8 Google Play Edition.
    So Im more to Google Play Edition atm, but im just not so sure...
    Cuz I also saw some Unboxing videos for the both of these Devices, but on the Box of the HTC One M8, it had more features written on it but for the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition, it didnt have those features written on the front of the box... So I was wondering if those features are their for the both of these Devices or only for the HTC One M8?
    Could anybody help me here?
    Just like tell me what exactly is the differences between the HTC One M8 and the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition?
    Thank You!

      All andriod devices that are released under a brand like HTC Samsung, Motorola,lg all release their own version of the stock Google developed Android OS. This is called the f word or fragmentation. So what Google does is release a base android version and then developers for each brand like HTC or Samsung put their own personal twist on what google originally released. HOWEVER this ruins the experience of what Google worked so hard to develop which is stock Android. As a result non stock android such as htcs version called Sense or Samsung's version called touch wiz ultimately slow down the device because they've added their own stuff to stock android. So to answer your question the Regular HTC One M8 has the sense skin or altered stock andriod and the Google play edition has no altered version of android and ships with stock android.

    • @mahirhasin4092
      @mahirhasin4092 10 лет назад +3

      Many people prefer the Google Play edition because the it uses stock android which many people like over HTC Sense

    • @gamefamex92
      @gamefamex92 10 лет назад

      If you want the pure stock android experience thats been eliminated with carrier's bloat wares that slows the device down, then I recommend the google edition.
      However, if you want the custom skin that has its own taste and style that has couple of near features such as, Zoey, blink feed, etc. then I recommend the HTC One m8 from different carriers.
      Both phones can be rooted and change both of their UIs by installing custom roms, but I recommend to look at instructional videos of installing custom roms on RUclips and get a good understanding of doing it. If you mess it up and get your phones bricked, you won't be able to fix it, even with the HTC warranty because rooting the devices voids the warranty.
      I hope this helped. If you have any questions PM me or send me a message on my inbox!

    • @iw19191
      @iw19191 10 лет назад

      The only difference is software, so you can buy the normal one and then install the Google Edition ROM afterwords. Sounds complicated but it's pretty easy, as long as you can follow instructions. But bottom line - if you want plain android with very fast updates, go google play edition. If you like HTC's blinkfeed, camera app, or other HTC-only features, get the normal one.

      Chris Carter how do you make decisions with technology 2 years ahead of time? Phones are constantly getting better that we have no idea where we'll be in 2 years. Not trying to sway you either way just curious how you're so sure you'll go to Apple.

    • @Chris10rx
      @Chris10rx 10 лет назад +1

      Dante Cantal well I made the decision pretty easy. Cause at first I was going to just go ahead and change over to iphone. The only reason I held back on that move was because I've always wanted to try the HTC out first. Mainly because of the speakers on it. In two years I won't care for droids and I'm hoping Apple phones come out with the same speaker as the HTC. If not, I'll just do without it. My m8 will be in the mail today. I've heard great things bout it but I'm not getting my hopes up. The only droid I really liked was the casio commando.

    I don't like when reviewers say stuff like "The One as a decent camera, not the best but do the job" like if it wasn't much important because, guys, the camera (and BoomSound) is touted as THE reason to buy this phone according to HTC.
    Basically, it's suppose to be a star feature, not a 50/50 Good/Bad thing.
    You can't dismiss this just like that, HTC need some serious beating and rething it's "UltraPixels" strategy.

    This new version of the Sense looks beautiful BUT: why does HTC stick with that crappy 4mpx camera again?? That's even less than the front-facing camera, when did selfies become more important than normal pics?

    • @Whiskey0
      @Whiskey0 10 лет назад +3

      There not MegaPixels they're UltraPixels, big difference.

    • @m2solo
      @m2solo 10 лет назад +5

      Not really a big difference. The camera is still technically 4 megapixels except the pixels are 3 times the size, allowing more light to come through. This results in better low light shots, but is still essentially the resolution of a 4 megapixel camera.

    • @agoniavr
      @agoniavr 10 лет назад +3

      Bravo Whiskey I can't believe there's still people saying that, now I understand why they're still selling the phone with such a crappy camera.
      Marques even did an 'Explained' video, do you even follow this channel? It's still 4mpx, they simply are sub-divided in 3pixels each which does NOT make a 12mpx camera.
      They simply get more light while shooting, nothing more, and for that price a decent camera wouldn't hurt the price that much.
      I was considering this but I'll pass as I did with the first one for this same reason sadly and that's bad, if they weren't stupid they would put a better camera for Samsung fanatics to switch over(Samsung fans are used to that) and HTC would sell way more than that plastic things.

      How could we know you're not the classic internet idiot? Plus, most people says things about jokes and sarcasm after writing something wrong.
      Not saying it's your case but the world's full of dumb people and the 'sarcasm' wasn't even that clear.

      Sayeedur123 exactly, thats what I was going to say, but I thought people wouldnt understand. Mobile CPU: 32 bit. PC CPU: 64 Bit. The iphone 5S has a duo 1.3 ghz 64 bit CPU in it, and isnt the highest on the benchmark, but pretty high, especially for single core performance as it is 64 bit. But 64 bit isnt optimized for mobile use, so it doesnt make a big difference.

      Dustin Crooke I am really happy with the camera. It's the best I've used so far, close to the Nokia 808 specially with that dual LED. There are enough features to keep you busy and occupied as well.

      I agree. There are some specs that are lacking but until/if I get a pic that's bad, I'm happy with it.

      Dustin Crooke absolutely. The shutter speed is absolutely amazing. Still waiting on that damn Zoe app to be enabled. Looking forward to playing with that.

      Very impressive.
      I like the idea of turning the screen on without having to reach for the power button; I wish all phones had this feature!

    I just watched ColdFusion's video on the rise and fall of HTC and now I see this video recommended? Yes, please.
