I got myself Note 3 Snappy. I'm so happy that Samsung finally did something about the finish. Fake leather feels much more premium. Phone itself seems so much faster than my old GS4 Exynos.
It's actually the area that I'm so interested in and where I always try to be up to date. And the thing that annoyed me the most on GS4 and especially on GS3 was poly-carbonate coating and somehow curved design. This is my first NOTE and I think I'll stick with it. I like big screen, fake leather finish, good battery life and S-pen. So many great features...
I was lookig forward to One Max but bought Note 3 instead. The reason i did not buy the One Max is because of the bad camera. When i started using the Note 3 i fell in love with the S-Pen. So if I new then how great the S-Pen is that would also be a dealbreaker for One Max. I really don't like Samsung as a brand. Please HTC pull yourself together i want your smartphones.
Samsung S4 vs. HTC One = HTC One comes out on top ^^ (I have the HTC one) Samsung Note 3 vs HTC One MAX = Note 3 totally wins (And If I had to choose between the two, I'd get the note 3 aswell) But lets face it.. They all beat fkin iphones zZz
Was considering the two, finally got the Galaxy Note 3. My reason were great multitasking, removable battery, size is large enough rather than bulky, high performance hardware. No regrets on my decision, also got a new slim Spigen case since I cracked my previous phablet.
Samsung note 3 is for me as I love to have removable batteries with me without to keep charging my phone. My choice will be either Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5.
Sincerely, i love HTC, i love their hardware...its awesome, but i think its high time htc builds a phablet with embeded stylus... the finger isn't the best stylus!!
Both are great for what they do. Kinda unfair to compare though. One is a big smart phone and the other is basically a mini tablet. A lot of people have tablets so really no reason for a tablet owner to have the note 3. Most people I know never use a stylus either even if they have one. My main uses with a phone is email, mp3 player, internet browsing, and watching videos so my pick would definitely be the htc one max. If your looking for a mini tablet then get the note 3 but if you want a great smart phone then htc one max is the way to go.
Matthew Jackson if u see the video above . did u realize that note 3 video is 4k/1080p shot . but hear the sound the stupid OLD mono voice capture way more beter than htc one max . stereos surround sound capture btw all samsung video capture didint have sterio voice capture yet . bcoz samsung focusing human motion capture . conclusion HTC ONE MAX = for people dun wan have a unhappy past memory pix and video or frustrated special event . by (HTC ZOE) NOTE 3= Spen faster cpu beter GPU mono sound capture 13Megapixle without ultra pixle that 1max have? HTC sofeware way more beter and with the boomsound beataudio + ultra pixle u wont regred buying that . no offence Samsung user
Note 3 is a category of its own, its the best big phone (i hate the phablet term). HTC One and all the other big phones are just phones that are big. I know i just made a genious statement.. but you know what i mean.
It's the best "big" phone that utilizes it's large form factor and takes advantage of it using both software(the multitasking window crap) and hardware(s-pen). Where as other large screen phones are simply just that... large.
rocermocer21 Yes that's it. I mean phones are already big enough. Making them bigger without features to utilise that size is just a silly thing to do, and its only done by other manufacturers in order to "compete" with the note 3. As much as its possible to compete a unique device like this.
Great review! I do find that most people will play around with SOME of the functions of the Note3 for like the first week or so, but it tends to wear off quickly. THEN, you have to pick-up it up everyday to do the same things that you did on your previous handset. As with the HTC, it is what it is. Nothing goes to waste on this phone, and it feels amazing when you pick it up or hold it in your hand. Which most of us do a 100 times a day. I am in no way favouring any of the two, just my opinion
The HTC fantards prove why they are the iSheep of Android. You all clear go for form over function. Pretty much all of the comments choosing the One Max, mention something about the design. The Note 3 is pretty beautiful and looks a hell of a lot more professional and classy than the One Max. Outside of design, the One Max is literally inferior to the Note 3. I'll take a phone that will actually be useful to me, versus a pretty phone that will be slapped in an ugly ass plastic case at the end of the day.
"The iSheep of Android" That is so spot on. I'm a current but soon to be former user of HTC and I can't wait to switch to the Note 3. The Note 3 feels great in my hands and its capabilities are excellent. Past issues with HTC -Sense constantly reloading, poor battery, and the latest charging port issues where one of the pins broke off. I don't care that they finally fixed these issues, the damage has been done. Never again HTC.
Good and fair review. I sense (no pun intended) that The Note series will add a second speaker for stereo effect on the bottom of the phone for the Note 4. My only gripe with the Note 3 is why 3GB or RAM. Any techie will tell you that you double the RAM not increase by 1GB. Looks like the Note 4 will probably get 4GB of RAM as well.
HTC aint that reliable, it lags and sometimes freezes whilst in use! Samsung is much more reliable and note 3 can kick HTC One max's ass any day. There is just no comparison! Note 3 does some really amazing things
Samsungs UI is absolutely terrible, its filled with shit and takes up space hat could be used for apps, There designs arnt that great, the s5 is plastic and looks like a bandaid, it probably wouldnt fair a good drop. while on the other hand htc makes amazing devices the new m8 beats the s5 any day, same with the sony xperia z2, along with LG's new G Pro 2 there more premium for there prices. why would i pay $650 for a plastic piece of shit over a nice premium device. and learn how to type.
emotwinkybell22 all this moaning is juz cos u want a "pretty lookin" phone...ever heard of a nice quality cover wise guy? I'd rather have a master piece in rags and cover it in nice clothes than have an average piece of junk just dressed nicely... We just appreciate different things that's all
Audrey Adams I don't know which phone you're talking about, but ever since the m7 was made, there is no phone that HTC made that has any performance issues, so your point is completely invalid. Besides htc kills samsung in build quality AND software. Touchwiz is completely outdated. Sense 6 is impossible to lag now. Nice try though.
Problem I have is that the Max is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper at the moment with the Note 3 clocking in near £50 a month on contract but the Max running at only £35 a month. Yes, the Note is a far better specification and generally better unit but is it worth an extra £15 a month on a 24 month contract? I currently have had an HTC Sensation for the last two years and until recently (where battery and memory have become an issue) its been pretty flawless. Has HTC's build quality changed since then?
Fraggle Roc yup I love the stylus !! Gives me all the creativity and utility I need!! I am thinking whether I should grab note 3 or wait for note 4..hmmm
Audrey Adams note 3 can do sooooo much...I'd say keep the note3 till the note5 comes out...I don't think the 3 would be far behind the 4...I've learned so many tricks & features on this phone its crazy...and there's still more features on this thing...beast....I'd say note3 and then the note5, besides samsung and apple are always in competition with each other they both always come out with a new phone every 6 months lol
I own the Note 3 and gear. A complete productivity power house. Good thing with HTC is the next Maxx will be a better competitor for the Note series once they work the kinks out. Can't wait to see that one!!
True, but this was also clearly stated in the revie. With the reason of the comparison being that consumers will inevitably put the note 3 and the htc in the same category when shopping for a phone. I was certainly hesitant to pull the trigger on buying the note 3 until I knew more about the upcoming htc. My gamble paid off and I'm very happy with the note 3. And it may be worth saying that my previous 4 phones were all iphones. But once I got past the learning curve,I'm happy I made the change!
Just got Galaxy Note 3 and I'm enjoying it alot so far. Love the S pen feature alot and some of the other features that it has. Much different from my HTC One X had previously.
I have the HTC Max and I love it! My husband has the Note 3 he likes it but he likes my phone better! The review was interesting because the girl at store told us the HTC Max was running exact same specs and everything as note 3
Been a Note 2 owner since December of last year and I have to say, all the bloatware on it, it just bogs it down. For my personal use, I'm not sure about anyone else, I just want a seamless UI that does everything I want it to, better and quicker. Regards to the S-Pen, I could never get into it, I think I loved it for the media consumption, but now the One Max is here. I'm getting my dream phone.
Some are reporting that as long as you activate the phone in the region that it was meant for, you can take it to another region without any problem. But if you just buy it in one region and try activating it in another, it will get locked. Erica Griffin reported that in her first impression video for Note 3.
I've been a note 2 owner for over a year. Chose the one max over the note 3. Even having the stylus I didn't care much to use it. Typically use my phone for checking news feeds, random browsing and texting. The one max suits me better. It's also cheaper... So that's where I came in... Picked it up for $150 cheaper than the note 3. Considering the review here (and I agree) the max has a great and seamless UI which is probably the only category that it beats the note 3. Simply loving the upgrade.
Even though it was 150$ cheaper, it's still over priced. As long as you're happy with the phone, that's all that matters, but if you want a super computer that can fit in the palm of your hand then, the Note 3 would have been a better choice.
As Mochaka Boom said, S4 vs HTC One, HTC One wins (better construction)(better speakers. However for the Note 3 vs HTC One Max, Note 3 Wins (Samsung knew how to make a big screen a real advantage, and not just a 'big screen' like the HTC One Max has. The fact they added a stylus shows that it's not just a big screened phone, but also has much more features.)
Excellent review! It was very informative and im glad that it was presented with an unbiased outlook on the phones. Lots of great points made and also pointed out a lot of good pros and cons about both devices. Exactly what I was looking for thanks!
HTC all the way... I have the HTC one and I am so happy I made that choice. I would in fact get the one max for screen size only. I think as you covered the fact they both run perfectly fine despite different specs they carry, think most people will choose bigger screen, with the added boom sound. You cannot go wrong
I love the Htc One Max but in the real world,I've been using Samsung Galaxy Note III for almost a month. The performance on the Note III are truly stunning. Awesome smartphone ever I've used so far.
I've got the HTC one and want the HTC one max but honestly HTC should have changed a few things to the one max like maybe 8 ultra pixels, and better multi tasking, Idk just more features
I absolutely love my Note 3! It offers true multitasking, hands down and the camera is awesome! Speakers aren't a factor for me since I listen to everything on my phone mostly with my Samsung earbuds anyway.
HTC have special App that call Transfer . all htc have . u transfer all app contect reminder note and ur account setting to other htc . HTC to HTC . Other phone to HTC . i even try my sony C905 to my HTC butterfly it work even tho sony C905 not an android
i would like a perfect phone i.e. -Samsung's super almoled display -Nokia's 41mp camera (with xenon flash) -Sony's slim design and waterproofing -HTC's Mega speakers -LG's Self repairing body If any manufacturer comes up with those features packed into one phone i am willing to pay $1100 for it.
HTC One Max does have a lower specs in the internals category. But despite that it was tough to dismiss that the device can run head to head with the Note 3. Look at some of the comparisons. Note takes great pics in perfect situations. HTC can take good pics in poor situations. Pics at a distance are better with the Note and up close they are both comparable. Audio sound quality goes to HTC. Calls were clearer thru the headset and thru the speaker. Music was better played on HTC. Build quality is superior with HTC. But you will sacrifice weight and get a heavier phone. It is logical that the Note would be lighter being smaller and made of all plastic that is thinner. Lighter or heavier will be a preference to the user. Multitasking and the S Pen goes to the Note. Sense and its Blink Feed goes to HTC. This again is a user preference. Neither is better than the other. Business users & tech junkies would likely prefer the Note. HTC is for the social network and tech junkie. The S Pen and Sense both have learning curve that a user a must master to maximize their use. The One Max is not comparable to the Samsung Mega. I don't agree with that. The Max is unique and between the Mega because of its size, but can give the Note a contest. The Note beats out on specs: camera and internals. But the One Max still does a good job.
Have to agree with almost every point made here. In many regards the Max is more a competitor to the Galaxy Mega. Its really a stretched oversized HTC One. Same as the Mega is an oversized SIII. The note was made with a purpose and a goal... to be the best most powerful phone for user. It offers the people who are truly interested an unbeatable package of performance and productivity that's unmatched at the moment! The Max is an amazing device... and great for media consumers and social media addicts... but the note offers so much more as well while still also delivering a device that performs amazingly at media as well.
I own the note 2. In comparison 2 these 2 I would choose the size, feel , battery life and front speakers of the HTC 1 max and the camera, and internals of the note 3. I know you who came from the note 2 sometimes find it more difficult to remove the spen with the note 3. I owned the note 3 for approximately 2weeks b4 returning it. Reason for return was because I felt it was not a "complete" upgrade. Examples would be the box like feel and weak speaker quality. In my opinion, If you upgrade your devices u should not have 2 settle for downgrades in other areas.
Matthew Jackson but for a tab u shud trust Samsung because they just have more experience with technology and windows computer/Tabs. Those tablets have a cpu clocked at 2.3GHz. but windows are more of a working tabs
Matthew Jackson I agree with you mate. Even my Galaxy Note 3 I use it as my smartphone as well as computer. Most of the things that I do everyday even downloading, browsing, creating documents and most of the things that you can do on a computer is possible with the Note 3. If you want a bigger screen just use an HDMI cable and plug it to the TV. You can use bluetooth keyboard and mouse if you want. You can use it as an gaming console such as Playstation, PSP, Nintendo, etc.
I've had a Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 2 and can honestly say the only times I've used multi-window modes or floating window modes has just been to try the features out. Using them doesn't come naturally in regular use, isn't well integrated into Android and its limited benefit doesn't really justify the hassle of remembering how to do it each time. Your mileage may vary. Maybe if you used it as a laptop replacement, with an external keyboard, mouse and monitor, would this be more useful
I have a note 2 right now and I still love it, I've been looking at the HTC One max and the note 3. Most likely I would opt for the note 3 because the features of the S Pen are now more user friendly and functionality is better .
I have the regular HTC One and the speakers keep blowing. I upgraded at the end of August, and im on my third one. If it happens again i will be getting the Note 3
Release date for the Max? Note3 is a great all arounder. I'm really just looking for media consumption. Max's larger battery, display, and dual front facing speakers. Dang, also now expandable memory. It's HTC Max, also low light camera was a win as I take a lot of indoor shots.
Love my Note 3 and had it since release and had no lag issue at all or overheating. I still kept my good old Note 2 as my back up phone. No phone can come close to the Note 3 or just the Note series in general.
I dumped my HTC ONE for a Note 3, couldn't be happier. I do love blink feed but I don't miss it funny enough. The hardware build of the new One's are really nice and premium though.
Yo. I'm tired of people not giving this phone a fair shake. First of all it has the best phablet screen and audio quality on the market. It may not have a snapdragon 800, but with sense it still runs extremely fast, and probably faster once it gets kit Kat update. The SD card add is a plus. The build quality is still better than any other phablet, and the fingerprint scanner works perfectly if you set it up properly. I've had a lot of phones and I would not give this phone up for a note 3. No disrespect, but I'm tired of people piggy backing off of other tech reviews. So what it Doesn't have an 800, or image stabilization. This is still the best choice for consumption of media with full Hd 1080p display and boom sound.
@Albert Zeiz The Galaxy Mega is no where near the One Max on the spec sheet. A Snapdragon 600 processor with an Adreno 320, 2gb of RAM and a 1080p display is NOWHERE near "mid level" status. Sure their both in the same category of gigantic phones, but the Note 3 isn't far from that either.
ive had the note 3 for about a month now and have not been able to kill the battery and the software is awesome cuz i use the themer app by mycolorscreen and it works like a charm. i am coming from the iphone 5 and i personally LOVE the big screen and ocassional use of the s pen. overall i give it a 9/10 because of touchwiz. it would be 1 10/10 with a few enhancements to the bloated interface. but it is a 10/10 when using the themer app. that app is a lifesaver and the only reason i chose this phone over the htc one or gs4. yes it would work on either of those as well but with the spen and added battery life, bigger screen, better overall specs with the snapdragon 800, 3gb of ram, 32 gb onboard storage and i added a 64gb sdcard this huge phablet i dont think can possibly be beaten
Absolutely Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I own one right now and i reviewed both.. HTC One max is just a Big Smartphone. Better taking a Galaxy Tab 7 instead of it! But Note 3 is amazing. I find it better to All. And it also fits in my hands and in my pockets!
A great example of where the One Max sits is somewhere between Samsungs Galaxy Mega and the note 3! but no dout HTC will up its game with its next flagship phone in the future!!
Not everybody needs MicroSD, but it's nice that the Max has it for those that do. It's disappointing, however, that they had to add that removable back - the phone is no longer as rigid, it's not longer really a "gapless" or "unibody" design and it's thicker to accommodate the "inner plastic back" that you see when you take the metal back off. If only they'd have been able to fit the MicroSD in the side of the device instead.
Ultrapixel is not an alternative measurement to megapixels. The HTC One still has a 4 megapixel sensor. Ultrapixel is HTC's trade mark for that particular sensor, intended to highlight the fact that its individual pixels are larger (due in part to the lower megapixel count) and it has a higher relative aperture.
Still prefer the max's sense over samsung's touchwiz.
i love the bloopers. they make you guys so much more relatable. makes you seem more fun after watching a really put together video of you guys talking
HTC one max is beautiful
I got myself Note 3 Snappy. I'm so happy that Samsung finally did something about the finish. Fake leather feels much more premium. Phone itself seems so much faster than my old GS4 Exynos.
Your "old" GS4? Bloody hell, you grow tired of your phones fast.

The HTC is basically sporting year old internals. They could have done something a lot more special than just an over sized year old HTC one.
AZHARS Whoever taught you English needs to be shot.
How is the Note 3 inputlag-wise? My note 2 has some pretty serious touchscreen input lag.

I Agree

Any word on an updated One Max coming out this year?

The fact they added a stylus shows that it's not just a big screened phone, but also has much more features.)
although that's only for performing in the dark, with normal lighting conditions the note 3 out-performs the 4 ultrapixel sensor on the htc one max
where can i get that wallpaper?
Excellent review! It was very informative and im glad that it was presented with an unbiased outlook on the phones. Lots of great points made and also pointed out a lot of good pros and cons about both devices. Exactly what I was looking for thanks!
What music player are you using?
HTC all the way... I have the HTC one and I am so happy I made that choice. I would in fact get the one max for screen size only. I think as you covered the fact they both run perfectly fine despite different specs they carry, think most people will choose bigger screen, with the added boom sound. You cannot go wrong
I am currently running the Note 3 on the Kit Kat OS via Cyanogen Mod 11. The is an awesome phone.
I love the Htc One Max but in the real world,I've been using Samsung Galaxy Note III for almost a month. The performance on the Note III are truly stunning. Awesome smartphone ever I've used so far.
This sealed the deal, I'm getting a htc one max. Thanks
may i know what wallpaper is that
where i can get the wallpaper ? :D
Hi, do u have htc one max and mega5.8?
I've got the HTC one and want the HTC one max but honestly HTC should have changed a few things to the one max like maybe 8 ultra pixels, and better multi tasking, Idk just more features
Hi Guy , so which would b ur choice to buy?
revisit 2020, I really grow with pocketnow until now
when they will release the htc one max?
What is the best samsung galaxy note 3 or htc one max
I absolutely love my Note 3! It offers true multitasking, hands down and the camera is awesome! Speakers aren't a factor for me since I listen to everything on my phone mostly with my Samsung earbuds anyway.
I am getting the Max. I have always used Samsung, time for a change. Great review by the way.
what music app is that ?
Can we transfer apps to the external memory card on both devices?
HTC have special App that call Transfer . all htc have . u transfer all app contect reminder note and ur account setting to other htc . HTC to HTC . Other phone to HTC . i even try my sony C905 to my HTC butterfly it work even tho sony C905 not an android
To clarify the mobile retailer are small stores that don't have actual phone's for testing, if you're lucky they'll have dummy versions showing.
So why the HTC one max that huge if you can't really do anything with it?
i would like a perfect phone i.e.
-Samsung's super almoled display
-Nokia's 41mp camera (with xenon flash)
-Sony's slim design and waterproofing
-HTC's Mega speakers
-LG's Self repairing body
If any manufacturer comes up with those features packed into one phone i am willing to pay $1100 for it.
Can you do a video between LG G2 vs Note 3. And cameras and photos. Thanks
I like both of them, which one should I choose ,please help me.
Aren't the max and the note 3 only .2 inches different?
Have to agree with almost every point made here. In many regards the Max is more a competitor to the Galaxy Mega. Its really a stretched oversized HTC One. Same as the Mega is an oversized SIII. The note was made with a purpose and a goal... to be the best most powerful phone for user. It offers the people who are truly interested an unbeatable package of performance and productivity that's unmatched at the moment! The Max is an amazing device... and great for media consumers and social media addicts... but the note offers so much more as well while still also delivering a device that performs amazingly at media as well.
I LOVE BOTH OF THEM, HTC and SAMSUNG are definitely pushing the envelop, although i'm currently using the Note 3 and loving it.
In the middle of the video I get an 20 seconds advert wth!!!
I have the note 3 and it is the best, most responsive and capable device I have ever used/owned.
Verizon rep just said that the one max doesnt hav micro sd expansion?
which one do you think is better?
I'm currently using Samsung Note 3 for almost 4 month,so far is the best smartphones I had :)
In my opinion, If you upgrade your devices u should not have 2 settle for downgrades in other areas.
galaxy note 3 not tegra 3
Htc one max, tegra 3
Htc one max better for gaming graphics ?
I bought the THC ONE MAX FROM VERIZON and i gotta say i'm not dissapointed with it altough the NOTE 3 is better i don't regret not buying it
what should i get:
nexus 7 tablet and (s3 or nexus 4) or just s4
s3

I agree with you as well. I consider Note 3 like my second computer :)
I just can not wait for the lg g pro 2. Any idea on when it might come to the us of a
does anyone have trouble with making calls or receiving them on their note 3 for sprint in particular.. thanks
No phone can come close to the Note 3 or just the Note series in general.
what music player 1:58 ?
I dumped my HTC ONE for a Note 3, couldn't be happier. I do love blink feed but I don't miss it funny enough. The hardware build of the new One's are really nice and premium though.
I personally respect HTC for standing by their word when they said the the HTC One was going to remain the flagship device for 2013.
Great video like ever :)
how is your wallpaper called ?
@Albert Zeiz The Galaxy Mega is no where near the One Max on the spec sheet. A Snapdragon 600 processor with an Adreno 320, 2gb of RAM and a 1080p display is NOWHERE near "mid level" status. Sure their both in the same category of gigantic phones, but the Note 3 isn't far from that either.
Hi dude. Nice review, it helped me to choose Note 3 ;)
How names your leather cover at Note 3, I want the same, tell me please. thx
ive had the note 3 for about a month now and have not been able to kill the battery and the software is awesome cuz i use the themer app by mycolorscreen and it works like a charm. i am coming from the iphone 5 and i personally LOVE the big screen and ocassional use of the s pen. overall i give it a 9/10 because of touchwiz. it would be 1 10/10 with a few enhancements to the bloated interface. but it is a 10/10 when using the themer app. that app is a lifesaver and the only reason i chose this phone over the htc one or gs4. yes it would work on either of those as well but with the spen and added battery life, bigger screen, better overall specs with the snapdragon 800, 3gb of ram, 32 gb onboard storage and i added a 64gb sdcard this huge phablet i dont think can possibly be beaten
Which one would you like the specs for?
Ultrapixel is not an alternative measurement to megapixels. The HTC One still has a 4 megapixel sensor. Ultrapixel is HTC's trade mark for that particular sensor, intended to highlight the fact that its individual pixels are larger (due in part to the lower megapixel count) and it has a higher relative aperture.
Hyy what's that music playing app. 😀
