Monolithsoft: Which Xenoblade 2 battle theme should we remix?
ACE: Screw that! Let's turn the saddest and most emotional song in to a banger!
Into more of a banger*
Y también con motivos para llorar
Hearing Drifting Souls had me in tears and I legit stopped playing to listen for like 10 mins in awe. That whole quest was a perfect nod for those that loved XC2.
It really is no less emotional than the original, just in a completely different way.
Yeah definitely. It's not just the fact they reused it, the way it's done in the new theme also sounds very emotional in its own right with a faster pace that also works perfectly well
What made me happy was confirmation of a thought that I had about the Pentelas Region when I first saw it that it looks like Morytha! I can't believe that was actually Morytha!
Me sorprendió escuchar esa canción otra vez no solo cuando aparece Nia si no este remix
Ok but seriously, that sax in Melia's theme goes SO fucking hard I could not BELIEVE
That saxophone, indeed it goes so freakin hard
someone did the mash up with the future connected version and its so epic.
Why do so many people feel the need to add that word all the time?
@@GuardianAngelEatos what word?
@@extinctbaryonyx The f word.
5:19 Your reaction to this theme is amazing - the composers went SO wild with taking Drifting Soul and transforming into a battle theme. The melody carries so much weight but hearing it as a battle versions is just like OVER THE TOP. I really want to see your reaction to the Cloudkeep music reveal moment!!
The Cloudkeep music is SOOOO good! I've got a timestamp for you RIGHT HERE, fam: ruclips.net/video/VWqNY8sPTMQ/видео.html
Drifting Soul in Xenoblade 2: only plays during crucial story moments. A melancholic expression of finding of finding your identity and place in the world
Drifting Soul in Xenoblade 3: rock and milf energy
Rock and HUH⁉️
@@rocrod430 uhm
milf = melony from pokemon
I love the way Nia's battle theme represents her place in life. All she struggled with before about herself has now transformed into her greatest strength. She knows exactly why she's here, and the reason she's here today.
I see what you did there, with that last sentence
@@Montra78 Indeed!
She loves her husband, her two wives, and her kids. Hope we get to see them and the 1 cast interact in the DLC
Meanwhile Mellia just said “ya like jazz?”
Idk if it was said but Melia’s theme is called Brilliant Wings while Nia’s is called Kaleidoscopic Core
What I love about those names is they reference something similar about the characters: Melia hid her "Brilliant Wings" from the party so she could interact with her people, as she loves to do. Nia hid her "Kaleidoscopic Core" from the party because she was afraid of them rejecting her for being a Flesh Eater. Couldn't have thought of better names myself.
Ever since Torna happened, the Xenoblade music theme basically said "you like jazz" and upped the anti in each battle theme.
Honestly the Melia one was fantastic, but Nia's.................blew me away!
"Put Melia in the new Mario Kart"
Don't give me hope LOL
I legit cried when I hear both of those themes Xenopeak chronicles at it again.
I was kinda sad that we didn't see your reaction to Melia and Nia "hero quests", but this makes up for it
0:12 it's been how long since release and i never knew you could do that
I want y'all to imagine this, Rex is fighting Moebius with both Pyra and Mythra with one eye as the statue says right, and this is the theme of Rex either losing his eye but still continuing to fight or his final stand to protect the city or protecting his pupil and the other founders
The biggest crime of this game is that I couldn't have these playing throughout my entire playthrough, they're amongst the best battle themes I've ever heard
Don't worry. You can do that if you ever decide to play New Game+.
@@BigFearedBalloon It would be better if there's an option to change Battle BGM outright
@@karuiGaming or better yet, a way to disable to Chain Attack theme so we can hear bangers like the end of Qino's ascension quest, the final battle with N, the battle at the start of chapter 6, and so on. The chain attack theme is good, but dear GOD are those battle themes fucking amazing.
@@thecursed_1lordofcats738
Play those themes over the Chain Attack from RUclips?
Besides Etika, Roger is my go to guy for appreciating a game’s OST.
His reaction to the game would have been legendary 🥲
@@solarsch8536 he would be proud of rex
Never got to truly enjoy etika during his rise but when I played Xenoblade 2 and found him randomly. After and during playing Xenoblade 3 I started to think about how genuine his reactions were. I know he would have LOVED Xenoblade 3.
Me after seeing Roger's reaction to Melia's theme: YES ROGER! "None can oppose us!"
hearing drifting souls transform from a song of despair into a song a triumph is beautiful
I just love how both themes have such a different vibe: Melia's theme is so much fun and cool whereas Nia's theme is more emotional and epic. Going for 2 different vibes to content most people is the best way they could have done it.
My preference goes to Nia's theme personally though. Making Drifting Souls a battle theme is a great idea and I appreciate the strong nostalgia it gives me.
Nice ! Lol.
when I heard the drifting souls in there I died of happiness but it also made me sad somehow lol
While hearing the drifting souls remix the first time was a magical moment, I have to agree as a musical piece, Melia's Remix is just amazing with the saxaphone work.
When I tell you I cried so hard when I heard these themes for the first time. Such a beautiful game
Man, this was such a great reaction video! Besides both Brilliant Wings and Kaleidoscopic Core being certified bangers, they also represent the journeys of Melia and Nia through all 3 games. They're just as contextually beautiful as they are amazing. Really hope we see them and the rest of the 1 and 2 crews in the expansion, prequel or sequel. Awesome video Roger!
Roger jamming out to these kinds of songs never fails to put a smile on my face!
Melia’s theme is so much fun
Haven't finished the playthroughs quite yet but this was one of my most anticipated reactions in all of 2022!
The only thing they told that sax player: Have fun.
Also Nia's battle theme basically confirms Drifting Soul was a song about Nia this whole time, where she wishes to find herself, and she did by the end of Xenoblade 2.
I wasn't able to make the Twitch stream live but caught up with it this morning and this was definitely a highlight had to come back to watch your reaction again 😅
Amazing jams for literal Queens
I cant hear the melia remix without thinking of the jazz for your soul meme, and the dude using a fire extinguisher as a saxophone.....but its just melia. Such a phenomenal track as someone who loves the jazzy FC and torna tracks.
this is like discovering milk and cereal for the first time after years LOL
Since people are giving their input, I like Brilliant Wings more overall. Drifting Soul was an amazing track, and turning it into a battle music is amazing, but Battle! Bionis Shoulder was probably in my top 5 of all Xenoblade battle music before this and that saxophone may have made it my number 1. And also it feels liberating using Melia and having the music go off like that.
There's a reason why I use Nia in my team the most. And it's not her class.
Your reactions are the best!
God, I love Xenoblade. I CAN NOT wait to play 2, but Pokémon calls my name.
Nia’s theme is what the music for Pyra and Mythra’s smash dlc should have been
And once again, Roger catches on to Drifting Soul quickly, love to see it. Everything about these themes is perfect, from the music themselves to the names.
I need someone to draw a picture of Melia playing the saxophone and Nia playing the violin and call it "Brilliant Wings and Kaleidoscopic Core."
There already is a picture of that out there lol.
@@dondaketype8811 *GASP* I must see this. Glad to hear people appreciating these two either way.
Edit: I literally just found it so easily, it's exactly what I wanted it to be.
Melia hit me hard with the endless saxophone when I heard it ingame too 😂
Now I just want to see his reaction to the end of Qino's ascension quest. "Don't forget me!" can still be heard echoing in the background.
They were like let's put saxophone in this, it's a flute right?
I think the themes chosen are ones that define Melia and Nia. Melia is the protagonist of Future Connected, so that battle theme is hers. And for Nia even though this is more the overall theme of Xenoblade 2, all the points where it plays are tied to Nia's own journey of learning to accept herself. It's a very nice touch.
I also hope the DLC is a proper conclusion to the Klaus arc. While I appreciate that they wanted 3 to be a self-contained story I also really wanted to see a solid conclusion of what started with XB1 and XB2.
With XB3 I think idk, it probably would have been hard but if it did it's own contribution around the lore behind the Conduit then it would have been more interesting. Origin is supposed to mimic the Conduit and the Trinity processors but we don't get much more than that.
This kind of content is why I watch Rogersbase
Wait what!?!? I love this song i didnt know you could do this wow!
They said it couldn't be done. They said Drifting Souls was too emotional to be a battle theme for Smash. Monolith said "Hold my Armu milk" and pumped out what has to be one of my favorite battle themes in the franchise or at least the most creative basttle theme they've done yet.
You get hyped like me i fucking love it! This is amazing music!
Any day I get to see Conductor Roger is a good day.
Melia has been one of my favorite characters in video games for the past ten years and I’m SO happy she’s getting the love she deserves, her battle theme had my jaw on the FLOOR! Absolutely incredible!
I don’t ive you know but the is a mashup Between the „Time Attack from Future Connected and Time Attack from Xc3. That goes even beyond Roger XD
That Drifting Soul remix went crazy both in terms of music and on my emotions, but after imagining the Toby McGuire dancing meme with that Future Connected remix I can't think of that as a battle theme anymore
fun fact the voice of sageapon (the nopon that in the challenge mode is the VC who plays shulk LOL so im gressing they got him in for more then one small dialog !
Omg I was hoping you’d listen to these
If this game does not wins Best OST of the Year Im gonna be so mad
I remember hearing these themes for the first time and my jaw dropped. It is absolutely amazing.
Also, Please play Ino’s dlc, it’s really good and it has moments where I smiled like an idiot
Like her ascension quest? *winks*
o yes! the Ino quest hyped me so much with all the things said and the end of the ascension quest
Oh my God, Etika would've LOVED this
Nia's battle theme has the same energy for me as the Roxas/Xion triumphant battle music in Kingdom Hearts 3
Emotional sad music to fist-pumping battle theme is an aesthetic that strongly appears to me
me playing xc3 and reaching cloud keep
"yo nia can i have that drifting soul mixtape?"
me after getting nia and starting fight "ok you really love remixing this trakc... AND IM ALL FOR IT"
Yo Roger looking Suave with that beard your starting to grow
Was this a member's only stream? Gonna have to become one so I don't miss these in the future LOL
EDIT: It was on twitch, so just subbed on there
Roger vibin 😏
Thanks for keeping the memory alive. Des was a special guy.
This game's soundtrack makes me lose my dang mind!! It's so good!!
Nias track should have been a smash remix. This would be so much better than the counterattack remix we got.
These are both, and I use this world legitimately, SEXY.
Those remixes are to die for man. Made it worth buying the game just for that.
Here's my insane pitch for an epilogue:
The casts of Agnus and Keves spend 1/3 of the game trying to fuse the worlds. The rest of the game is gonna be an original plot with some merged world shenanigans. I really hope that the descendants of the new Aionios become the Samaarians (from Xenoblade X) and jump into a new dimension with Origin technology, eventually build the Vita and retcon it all into the plot of Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Origin did scream of Ganglion design/technology, I’m still inclined to believe X is completely separate from the rest of the series canonically though
Aside from being an epilogue or a prologue with the founders I also think that how origin came to exist could be a story. Because
Spoilers
How could they create origin without tapping into the power of the conduit? How does origin hold the power to avoid both worlds from colliding with each other?
I was waiting for you to react to these songs. I agree with that both songs are nice but that future connected just slams.
Also, the ironic thing about the future connected in the original game, they used flutes, which flutes are a theme in XC 3 but went saxophone, lol. I am greatful for the change.
Just wait till he reacts to the Wave 2 DLC stuff.
That’s gonna be a crazy reaction
Played it yesterday! ruclips.net/video/o7X1QxG00Nk/видео.html
I wish we got more stuff similar, like Secret Areas being untouched part of biomes from 1 and 2, but with a shinobue arrangement of the OG theme. Like Valak Mountain, Satorl Marsh, Bionis Shoulder, Uraya, Leftheria and The Turqos Plateau. Something like that.
And yeah If only we had more heroes from 1 and 2 as DLC... Like, we had Melia and Nia in base game, then Shulk and Rex as non canon heroes in DLC later when the DLC Story did release, yeah. But now I just wish we had more non canon heroes, give us the whole cast from Future Redeemed! Give us Matthew. Nikol, Glimmer. Na'el! I want A, she could even be the only canon hero unlocked from Future Redeemed, as an overseer or something! Linka and Panacea are underdevelopped, I guess they intended to make them heroes at first, but probably decided to focus on their other productions instead (and I can't wait to see them)
But yeah now that the art/lore book for 3 release and that we do know that basically every origin metal piece is someone from 1 or 2, I guess we couldn't get more character, like an adult Reyn with a big Beard or something like that, sadly. But they could have at least given us Poppi 😭
And not returning characters, but we were a lot to expect to see Mwamba, Nimue and Joran at least to be NG+ heroes, but no. I'm really looking forward to a Xenoblade 3 DE in the future, maybe we could get a few more heroes as mentionned before, give clear indications as to what piece of origin metal is who, and maybe even an epilogue ending with the cast of 3 reunited in the new Earth along with adult parties of 1 and 2 + friends, like an adult JuJu, etc. That could probably cover the moment KOS-MOS arrives and shit, leading to Xenoblade 4 that we'd have already played a long time ago by then (hopefully). And on top of that, add a few remixes of older musics from 1, 2 AND 3, as well as xenosaga. just do the ultimate fan service game.
Xenoblade battle music will never be bad
Ive you fight wann of the superbosses in the Game you get also a new Battle theme ;)
Everyone is talking about the nia one on the comments. But Rogers is a man of culture
I love them both but Melia’s got that special something 😍
Melia Theme goes for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nia Theme goes to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
If they put Noah in Smash, they have to put that drifting soul remix as one of the tracks
Melia's theme is actually the leaked song for the upcoming Keves Castle DLC track in Mario Kart 8
@@yendothegamer9880 yes

I thought these only play for unique monsters did they patch it or something?
Did I miss a livestream? I haven't been on yt since last week😅
Was a stream on twitch last night
Your enthusiasm is infectious
On the contrary, I'm surprised you haven't heard of it yet. lol
I also prefer Melly's one, but remixing Drifting Soul was still genius...
Game of the year go vote for XC3
Yessir I don’t think it will win but I’m glad it’s up there. It has to win best music and score they made two unique flutes just for this
“I wish we had more characters from the previous games in here.”
Absolutely not. Xenoblade 3’s plot has, quite literally, nothing to do with the previous two games’ characters or their choices. The whole conflict is nothing more than the aftermath of a cosmic natural disaster and an engineering oversight. We don’t even know for sure if they were even alive when the two worlds collided. Melia and Nia are here cause the writers deigned them to be the ones with control over Origin. And they’re barely in the game because, again, they don’t actually matter much to the plot of the game. They’re just lore. They could have been long dead and still served the same function.
The cast and plot of XBC3 needed to stand on their own, otherwise it might as well have just been DLC for the previous games.
Agreed. Otherwise 3’s defining scenes would basically be “introduction of previous game’s character” or “Ouroboros interacting with past character” which would undermine the main cast and their development.
I really love this take! I 100% agree. I’ve also seen some people say that they think that 3’s plot undermines 2, but I don’t think it does. Spoilers for Xenoblade 1 2 and 3 going forward. Both shulk’s and Rex’s party’s defeat the biggest problems in their world and set it up to move forward. 3’s plot is both respective world actually going through the process of moving forward and trying not to mess up. The endless now really encapsulates the unwillingness to repeat the mistakes of the past. That’s why Noah’s party is so impactful to me because they want to take that step forward and I love that
@OTAKUSlayer different people want different things, and he should be able to tell you what he wants on his channel
Nia's theme is so good. I mean Melia's is alright, but Nia's is like kicked up to level 10+. The only other XB3 theme i like more than Nia's is the Agnus Battle theme. That intro with the drums just kicks.
Disagreed
Wait did people really not know that you could pause and retry battles?! I feel so sorry for you guys! On another note, I love both of the remixes! I didn't recognize Drifting Soul until it kicked in and the lost it, and now that you mention it, the remix for Time to Fight does sound like something out of Mario Kart! I feel so dumb for note thinking that the piece could be from the added Definitive Edition story content. I should have known! Dude Xenoblade 3 is the best soundtrack in the series by quite a large margin in my opinion! There's only one or two pieces that I don't like, and none of them I dislike. There's always been that one or two pieces that I don't like in the past Xenoblade games. Funny I might have beat Xenoblade 3 the day that you uploaded this. Haha! It's a big shame that both Nia and Melia's class are underwhelming. There's no reason to use any other healer other than the Troubador and Signifer class because of how broken they are unless you want to have a fair fight. As far as attackers go, the Incursor, Orge, Flash Fencer, and Soulhacker for after beating the game are by far the best ones. My biggest complaint with the game is how inbalanced it is after a certain point and how they threw away the fusion mechanic. There's pretty much no reason to use fusion arts anymore after being able to art cancel with any arts.
Please upload your reaction to the Moebius themes please 🥺🥺
I did a full playthough of the game so you'll see my reactions to the Moebius themes there! ruclips.net/p/PLjrMkiLyYJCFaiYjMFRgZ0hF_4xBsye9L
*********SPOILERS************SPOILERS*****************SPOILERS******************* I'm 100% with Roger on the being disillusioned by how little of 1 and 2 we got in 3. Especially considering how it's supposed to be a combination of 1 and 2's universe. It just made me feel like our previous heroes failed and it would have been cool if they included more of 1 and 2's cast into the game. It's also annoying how we can't get Melia or Nia in our party until after the end of the game. Really off putting for me. It's not a bad game at all but I went in with different expectations coming from 1 and 2 and seeing how they clearly showed how 3 was interweaving 1 and 2's worlds. The whole time I was like "please get to the part where you explain what happened to everyone from 1 and 2" and they sort of only hint at things and glaze over them until the very very end. Now we have to wait for DLC to actually touch on the events that show Rex and Shulk etc together and they show Alvis. It feels like that should have been in the main game story line, not DLC.
Was this good for you?
I'm not holding out for XC3 to win GOTY (hopefully nominated tho) HOWEVER, If this game doesn't win best soundtrack, narrative and RPG then I istg it's me, Geoff and God.
Weight of Life played by the Game Awards Orchestra with Yasunori Mitsuda in the audience seeing his work be publicly recognised by the world for the first time in 3 decades>>>>>.
I will cry man.
Also, Harry McEntire (Noah and N) and Aimee-Ffifon Edwards (Mio, M and Ranni) NEED to win best performance. I'd nominate the entire XC3 cast but god we're lucky if even the protagonists get nominated.
9:10 I think a big issue with the DLC is that no matter what it does, something is going to be left unfulfilled. The base game brought back the worlds of 1 and 2, robbing those games of their closure, but left so many unanswered questions. The ending also left a lot of unanswered questions, probably to spark debate on what actually happens. It's fine to have one of these, but as a writer you gotta commit to fleshing out one of them. Founders DLC will provide context but miss out on saga closure (something the base game lacked and needed, being the end of the saga) and vise versa. I think that's one of the major reasons why there were a lot of people left fairly "whelmed" by this game.
Completely disagree. 1 and 2 have had their closures with both DLC and Future Connected. I think too many people had too many preconceptions of what the game they liked would be and projected it onto the final product. Much like Xenoblade 2, 3 as a game can act as a standalone even if you haven't played the previous entries. Blatantly shoving in a bunch of fan service and unnecessary cameos from 1 and 2 would not only have been tacky, but would devalue the core themes of 3.
3 is the most consistent in terms of quality throughout the game, which is why so many people loved it. While I like 2 more than 3 personally, the lows in that game were really bad. 1 had very much of the same problem.
@@Megaelixer2 To be told that the characters from 1 and 2, who finished out their stories and arcs of escaping a world controlled by gods or a world where living space was dying out, only to have them endure that same fate in Aionios (a world ruled by Z where the land can be destroyed by annihilation events) is deeply unsatisfying. And to be told that those same characters lost to the Moebius and spent the rest of their lives in Aionios fighting them when the characters of 3 beat them so easily is also unsatisfying. And to know that Melia was somehow just captured by Z despite her allies and power and that Nia was forced into hiding is also just annoying to hear.
I wasn't expecting many connections to 1 and 2, in fact I'd rather the game not been connected at all to allow those stories to have been done rather than be given an addendum that they lost to the Moebius, even if it was all undone in the end. Also 3 is absolutely not the most consistent in quality. The Li Garte Prison is literally the worst written section in all of Xenoblade and it's not close. Nothing about that section works when you considered the established rules set by the game, it's very much an "and then" story. And that section leads into one of the most emotionally cathartic sections in Xenoblade. I really hate the idea that people say this game's lows are higher than the other two, because if we're talking about coherent writing or writing that follows any sort of logic, 3 definitely has the lowest lows. Really hoping people will start using some critical thinking on some of this game's sections.
I wish i could like Kaleidoscopic Core but my brain wont let me. I like the original song but it just does not work for me as a combat song, I'm gonna guess it's similar to why I dislike Kass' theme in smash. I'm 100% ok with saying that I'm just wrong on this one tho haha
