    Being from Cottage Grove I agree you guys hit some of the best suburbs of Mad town! CG I think is another one as well as McFarland.

    We're hoping to move to Madison area sometime next year. We loved Middleton when we were visiting but houses are way to expensive for us. We're looking at Sun Prairie or Oregon.... which do you think is more family friendly (safety)??

    • @livinginmadisonwi
      @livinginmadisonwi  Год назад +1

      Hello! Both Sun Prairie and Oregon are very family friendly cities. I would spend some time in each and see which one you like better. Oregon is smaller and quieter where Sun Prairie has more amenities close by.

      I've lived in Sun Prairie most of my life (since 1968, with a brief move to Illinois for Boot Camp, Monona when I got married, and then to Berlin, WI). All of the suburbs have their benefits and negatives. Most are safe, good schools, etc.
      As I live in SP I will start with it: SP has great parks (lots of them), a community aquatic center, a playhouse (theatre), a massive private health club with its own waterpark (Prairie Athletic Club), great access to restaurants with great food (Buck and Honey's, Daly's, etc.), LOTS of access to beer selection (Eddie's Alehouse for instance, craft beers, micro brews, imports, etc). SP also has easy access to the East side of Madison, DeForest-Windsor, Cottage Grove, etc. which opens up even more options. To go from one end of SP to the other is about 15 minutes depending on traffic. It also has a great (IMO) Marcus Theater location. As with most WI towns, SP also has a bowling alley if that is your thing. Shopping (grocery) is easy, Super Walmart in town, Woodman's and a Costco in town near the East side of Madison, plenty of options on the East side of Madison as well. Other shopping, plenty of variety as well, Target, Super Walmart, Gander Mountain, all in SP, with plenty of other options in Madison.
      Oregon has a smaller hometown feel to it than SP does now (SP used to be a small town feel too). Love the shops in Oregon as well. Oregon has less options, but as pointed out, it is also relatively close to Madison (SP is 15 minutes from center of SP to the east side of Madison, Oregon is about the same (20 minutes). My guess is Oregon is less expensive, but I am not a real estate agent.
      You also have Cottage Grove, Marshall, DeForest-Windsor, McFarland, all of them have things to offer. I hope you enjoy your visits and find a community and home you love.

      I was younger and I got homesick and returned home. It was a bad choice but you have to learn the hard way sometimes. I’d invite my friends to take the trip to visit in Madison from Saint Paul and we’d party downtown and everyone would mention how awesome the area was.

      Biking around Madison is amazing, there are biking trails everywhere. Walkability depends on the neighborhood. We talk more about the walkability towards the end of this video: ruclips.net/video/6drlIvUpjeQ/видео.html
