I've lived in Madison for 24 years, it's great, I love Madison! I love it, but to just dwell on the few bad things about it for a moment: • the homeless beggars can be aggressive • Most mid-priced restaurants are of low quality • Lots of marijuana, lots, it’s everywhere • traffic is bad bc the lakes bottle things up • Housing and rents are too expensive • Good luck trying to find a dine-in coffee shop open after 8 p.m.
@zachlaabs5257 I agree with you. But the weed problem in Mad is so bad that it has a direct effect on the quality of the mid-priced restaurants in town (80% of which suck) bc many of the cooks and servers are stoned.
So sad that Nick’s closed in 2024. They had the best fries in town. I loved that their kitchen was in the basement and that food was brought upstairs on a dumbwaiter.
State Street is a pale imitation of its former self. What was once an eclectic mix of boutique shops, mom & pop restaurants, and local businesses has given way to national chains, as they're the only ones left who can afford the rents. So much local flavor has been pushrd off of the strip, and out of the downtown area in general.
Great video, I was born and raised in Madison and now live in Florida but still love the Mad City!
Excellent video, a great overview of State Street. Madison is a fine town indeed !
I just love Madison Wisconsin.

Weed is better than crack although there's crack there too

What is downtown Madison other than the University of Wisconsin? 😮
Chicago is the largest city in Illinois but it’s not the capital.
The Coronado Theater in Rockford Illinois has a Grand Barton Theater organ. As far as I know it still works.
Otis Redding’s airplane crash landed in one of the lakes in Madison and lost his life.
@@glennso47 it does, it's been in working order for almost 100 years (since 1927) and sounds wonderful
Well it looks pretty awesome. I'm looking to move
It’s awesome for 6 months, winters are tough. Cheese, Brats and Spotted Cow are amazing. I enjoyed my 2 years in Madison but don’t miss the cold lol.
Eating out
no more "🎶Rocky Rococo, pizza amore!🎶" on State Street?
It’s 2024 and y’all are still tripping on the vegan restaurant?
what happened to the Elvehjem Museum of Art? pushed aside by fatter donors I guess - that kinda bloated ego stuff is creepy
