    I find it really odd that Morgan(the black girl) was talking about how she had tons of mental challenges and how much she values others opinions but she later says that her and her friends will go up to people and make fun of their outfits. It's bullying, she thinks those won't notice that they're being made fun of but that is not true.

    • @TiffyTindell
      @TiffyTindell Год назад +401

      Most bullies are insecure. That's why they're mean and put down others to try to feel better about themselves. So it's not that odd. But hopefully, she becomes more self-aware from this experience and works on that within. 🩷

    • @imarockstarification
      @imarockstarification Год назад +92

      It's pretty common for bullies to have social challenges, especially with people who have a low sense of self. They'll tend to seek validation from outside as they're not able to validate themselves and that validation can either be positive (ei this person liked my outfit > they like me > I'm worthy) or negative (ei this person's outfit is ugly > mine is better + others agree > my sense of style is better and approved by others = I'm worthy). It's a shame but she seems to realise how bad it can be so I'm hopeful she'll have the motivation to change.

I don’t see many people who caught them but I was honestly kinda like her in high school where I wasn’t “popular” but I knew lots of people, at the same time gave a little “pick me”. There are little things she will probably grow to stop thinking. She wasn’t very receptive of differences (including with popular people) and there were a few slights that didn’t sit well with me like at 2:30 7:05 12:15 19:20 20:19. Now as an adult I don’t want to talk to anyone lol, but I have a great life and a family. Being popular or not popular in high school really doesn’t change your adult life. It’s the bullying that will really change things because it hurts your self esteem and feeling of worth. Regarding the disability popularity, there was a kid at my school, likely had down syndrome. People all were always super nice to him and had him feeling like the king of the school. He thought he was highly attractive and desirable due to how he was treated. So he ends up asking an insanely pretty popular girl to prom. She turned him down because she wanted to go with a guy she was attracted to and truly wanted to go with. This crushed the disabled guy. He was so angry and hurt and confused. It wasn’t that the girl did anything wrong. She felt horrible but it was not her responsibility to take care of him in that way. There was just such an issue with the way the school coddled him as a whole. It gave him these unrealistic expectations that hurt him in the end. With that said, I’m so glad these kids brought this issue up because I feel like it happens often with the sweet special needs kids in many schools. I think it is very important to be nice to everyone but I also think there should be a limit for reasons like this.

    • @Departure-yz7ok
      @Departure-yz7ok Год назад +16

      I get what you're saying because surely, you would feel this way if you're not disabled yourself (unless you are in fact the kid with down syndrome?). But let me tell you, what's going on at your school is one hundred percent better than what went down at mine - people with disabilities and LGBTQ kids were bullied, even by the teachers.
      And besides, I think EVERYBODY should be really confident in themselves. Plus, if one girl doesn't think the other kid is attractive, that doesn't mean anything. You can be really attractive and there will still be people who won't go out with you. Like come on

    A jubilee series I really wanna see would be called "Swapped" where a bunch of people with different customs would swap and do things the way the others did it. A great example would be student's with the highest grades in grade 12 in the us vs year 13 in the uk (they are the same age but the school system is different). The group of 12th graders (US) would have to sit A level exams and the year 13s (UK) would have to sit high school exams. Then they would compare the marks they got and discuss how different (or similar) the exams were.

    • @mindofzena8447
      @mindofzena8447 Год назад +7

      @Departure-yz7ok quite a few things, the whole being popular thing in general. Visually, none of these kids would've been considered "popular" just by the looks of them. Being accepting of the LGBT community is another big one, back then that was very much condemned and considered "not cool" and most people stayed in the closet for the most part until kinda closer to my senior year, thats when i noticed more things were changing. The way they view having sex and doing drugs is completely flipped around from when I was in high school. Both of those things were considered "cool" back then. Most of the "popular " kids were very wealthy and were always vacationing in other states or other countries and they were much more of a close knit circle, not that they were necessarily mean to anyone but they definitely weren't just anyone's friend. We absolutely had cliques then too, not sure if thats changed or not..but the jocks, goths, nerds, cheerleaders, gays, theater kids, dance kids/ dance crews, etc all hung out with their own for the most part. The whole idea of how they view social media status in general is completely different also. Social media was still pretty new-ish and insta was sill up and coming so there were no influencers or people trying to be known from that platform, it wasn't even a thing yet. Most people were still on Facebook or Tumblr. Going viral was barely a thing at that time and if you were going viral it was usually for something funny or embarrassing lol not something other people necessarily wanted to emulate. The most we had of social status online was being on someone's top 8 on MySpace . The emotions that they have as well, seems a lot of them are a lot more depressed now (not based off this video necessarily but just from what I've seen overall) and that's worrisome and very sad to me. I dealt with depression as a teen but I was like one of maybe 5 people I knew that had it. Nowadays it seems like everyone has it and anxiety and I really think a lot of it stems from social media but I could be wrong. But it was interesting to see how these younger people feel and think about things now vs how I felt and thought about them when I was their age

    As a former popular kid, I can say with confidence that bullying other kids stems from personal insecurities and is a way of burying your own feelings. It's courageous for Morgan to acknowledge that she needs help because some of us were in denial. After high school, popularity really doesn't matter all you'll get while in college is a bunch of strangers from your previous highschool stalking you to see how far you've come in life. For this reason, it's important as Ananya mentioned, to work on yourself and don't care what other people think of you. People are always going to talk, just learn to mute the noise and focus on yourself.
