    When I was at the theaters using the bathroom stalls after watching the movie there was a black father guiding his son on what to do after using the stalls and telling him to not touch the toilet handles and let the automatic flush do its work explaining it to the kid. A part of me was just glad he had a father figure because I just watched a movie where fatherhood was ignored for single-motherhood. That at least made me proud of actual men in real life. It's great to see fathers being fathers. I didn't know why at the time, but that sentiment snuck up on me.

    I just saw the movie, being willing to give it a chance, and I am sorely disappointed. They ruined everything that made Wakanda special. The Talokan are just underwater Wakandans. They have vibranium, a blue herb and even a salute that looks like the end of a hadouken. Plus, aside from M'Baku and Okoye, no Wakandan seems able to handle the Talokan in hand-to-hand combat. They really made Wakanda look weak. I can't believe Ryan Coogler actually wrote the script. This has Kevin Feige written all over it.

    That's a very good point you made. First off T'Challa had regenerating powers just shy of Wolverine. If this disease killed him it would of wiped out the rest of the nation first. Then like you said T'Challa had so many connections to guys like Strange and Banner but I guess that means more men in this movie and we all know we can't have that now can we? They should have recasted him or at the very least had him die in combat.

      Agreed. It felt wrong for T'Challa to die of a 'mysterious illness', and felt a slight mockery to Chadwick's death. I really wish he had died out in the battlefield. It would seem more natural and in place, considering how there are many trying to get to Wakanda for vibranium.
      With the illness route, I wish they had gone into more depth. It would've made sense had they researched the disease to prevent further casualties.

    Can we talk about how Shuri's master strategy was to send out her best fighters on a single ship in the middle of the ocean??? Like, you're literally putting yourself at a disadvantage by entering into Namor's territory which gives him an extraordinary homefield advantage because he can sink everyone on that ship in a matter of seconds. Had the writers fully realized the power Namor's army, he could've pulled up with a fleet of vibranium armored sea monsters that were undiscovered by modern science and destroy the Wakandan troops in one fell swoop, ending the movie before she even got to fight Namor. Shuri's plan only makes logical sense if you nerf Namor's people and it's mind boggling to me how that last act played out.

    • @pt7930
      @pt7930 Год назад +3

      @@lolivingston6827 Well, I'm not exactly the biggest of MCU nerds but after looking through the series timeline of events I can safely say you are wrong. Shuri was born in 1998, and the original Black Panther (according to the MCU's universe) took place in 2016--thus making her 18 in universe. Then two years pass between that and Infinity War, making her 20 years of age. Then once she comes back in Endgame, another two years pass and she should be around 22 in Wakanda Forever.
      This means that she's a grown adult, putting multitudes of her people at risk, heading out into the open ocean with one single ship and no marine ballistic missiles or anything. My original point still stands because she literally put an entire army out there to be *SITTING DUCKS* 😭😭! The worst part is that its out of character for both M'baku and Shuri because 1) M'Baku would never allow himself to be shut down and emasculated like that, and 2) Even if Shuri wanted revenge, considering how brilliant she is it would make more sense for her to take in M'Baku's advice (as he has more military experience) so she can take down Namor in the most methodical fashion possible without expending additional resources.

    • @peekaboooooooo
      @peekaboooooooo Год назад +1

      That was the point of her decision. That she was acting out of revenge and not thinking clearly. So she would do anything out of anger even putting her people in danger without realizing it because she was blinded by revenge. This was clear when she was about to kill Namor. She realized it wasn't her after all. You saw the movie and didn't get the message?? I can tell you are very smart but there is a loophole in that brain that does not let you see some things clearly. I have my own loopholes and I am working on them.

    Thank you for this review! I saw the movie and you pretty much nailed it on all points. As a lifelong comic reader familiar with the source material, I was super disappointed in this film. Knowing that they weren't recasting T'Challa, I had really no excitement going in so I didn't expect too much. Part of me expected the emasculation of men because well, it's a Disney/Marvel project. The fatherless black child aspect of it pissed me off. Also, I hated how they did Namor from his design to changing his back story. He's one of my favorite Marvel characters in the comics and I had anticipated him appearing in the MCU for a while but after this movie I don't really care about seeing him in films going forward. Even the artificial intelligence male voice was constantly being degraded by the women. The men on either side of the battles couldn't even fight. The women just overwhelmed them. When one of the blue villains was fighting with Okoye the blue woman in charge just told him what are you doing we don't have time for games. The men in this movie were all emasculated even having to get down on their knees before the women in the beginning of the movie. Neymor's people all had to get on their knees as well. In Wakanda the men didn't have any technology to fight with they were just fighting with sticks and clubs. The women were the only ones who were able to use technology in this movie. Thank you for your thoughtful, honest, and thorough review. I think we need more of these. It would be fair to say that more and more people are speaking out against the narrative. Part of me is a bit disgusted that it takes so long for more people to step up and speak out, but that's just how life works. The few have to speak up first, take the brunt of the pain, but lead the way and inspire others to do the same.
    In way, isn't that part of core elements that made "Black Panther" a good movie, any why "Wakanda Forever" failed? Fatherhood isn't just fathers to sons. It's a father to all their children. A father teaches fortitude, conviction, and bravery. A father teaches his children their past, not to confine them, but to show their children where they came from. At the very least, if you know where you came from and where you are now, you have an idea of where to go next.
    There are reasons why stories of the fathers are being taken away. Without the guide and guardian that are fathers, children are susceptible to the indoctrination of others. That's been a huge problem of these past decades. I quote Eric July, "You send your children to be taught by Caesar, and you wonder why they all turn out to be Romans."
    I want to go off on a quick tangent. Wakanda Forever had all kinds of great elements there, but the agenda driven by current-Disney made them fall to the worst elements. As you pointed out, RiRi Williams was pointless. Her role could have been filled by anyone.
    T'Challa dying from a disease made no sense, and worst of all, it stole his heroism. If they weren't going to recast him, at least let T'Challa go out in battle, knowingly sacrificing himself for his people, and especially his WIFE and son -- not secret lover and son. Since Disney is hinting Galactus is coming, why not have T'challa buy Earth some time by accepting a one-on-one challenge with one of Galactu's lesser Heralds. T'Challa could have fought bravely, come to realize out outmatched he was by Cosmic Powers, but then sacrificed himself in effectively a suicide-bomb, thus "Winning this round," and giving Earth a fair warning, and most of all knowing his sacrifice was not in vain.
    But no. That had to be taken away, too.
    And for that matter, instead of Shuri, I propose a better twist. Why not have Queen Romanda taking the Heart Flower at pretty much the last minute, thus making HER the Blank Panther? Now you have your 'feminist' story, but now you have the story of a veteran queen struggling to balance her years of beneficent rule with the deep vengeance she feels. Not to downplay Shuri, but ask any mother who loves her children. Ask her how she'd feel and what she would do if she found herself now as a Warrior Queen with the power to reap vengeance on those who slew her husband and children. And now consider you'd have that role played by the fantastic Angela Bassett. Let's face it, Angela Bassett has graced every scene she has been in for decades. Imagine HER in that role! ... but no.
    There's so much more to say, but I leave on final notes. Layman's Journal, I am proud you pointed out the awful and dare we say hypocritical conditions they left T'Challa's son to bear. I speak with sympathy to the many children born in families and / or positions from birth where they effectively have to grow up perfect. Always in the spotlight, always criticized, always under pressure. No child should ever have to bear that. That kind of pressure breaks grown adults, and considering that every year thousands of children have to endure that "because they're supposed to"? It's sickening.
    That said, there's a difference between protecting a child and severing their connections to their family and their home. And yes, this is EXACTLY what happened to Killmonger! Either way this is going to deeply harm T'Challa's son and the people of Wakanda. If the son is never told who he really is, even if he grows up to be a decent person, Wakanda was robbed of their heir. If the son grows up for years never being told and THEN when he is much older finding out he was born a prince, then he will face the sting of knowing he had been lied to. And if he's told all along that he's born a prince, but is denied his birthright, then congratulations -- we have Killmonger all over again.
    All for the Agenda, everyone. All for "The Message."
    i refuse to end this on words of discouragement. Instead, I will end with this. Fathers, stand strong, and teach your children to stand strong as well, even if they have to stand alone. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance from without and within. It is a hard, cold, and heartbreaking war. But it is worth it.
    So say we all.

Whats killing me right now is how I get trolled for my thoughts on the film. Mostly males. They surprisingly don't see anything wrong with the film and is completely oblivious to the agenda and bad storytelling. I see people making it this whole film was put together perfectly and should be up for an Oscar. It is what it is. I'm not mad that other people have differing opinions but they seem to don't like anybody who disagrees with them. They get awfully sensitive and be on the attack. • @peepachu
      @peepachu Год назад +8

      I can see your point but an even bigger point is that as good as Chadwick Boseman was as the Panther, he was an actor and not the actual fictional Black Panther. The character didn't stay true to the character in this movie and that's what everyone is pointing out.
      Even the greatest Marvel comics character to have died and stayed dead, Captain Mar-Vell fought death until the very end before accepting it. This movie had T'Challa rolling over meekly and accepting it without putting up a fight. Not the way of a king!
      Marvel struck gold several times over in the first two phases but has since let virtue signaling and ridiculous identity politics ruin what they worked so hard to achieve.
      It may not happen overnight but if this is the path they are determined to follow then they will eventually fade into obscurity and irrelevance and we the fans will all be the poorer for it..

    Before this movie started they tried to put the director in this pro black situation so that we would have invested in his next project. That's how I saw it. The worse part was the black woman congratulating the police for arresting him and him making the feminist film.
    I never supported the comic books because it was created by white men. The story is told from a European perspective. It is not told from a black perspective. Even the past and current movie follows that European narrative, thus empowering women who were never oppressed. So there is no need for black women to need a majority image in any film.
    The first movie tried to be about the relationship between father and son but it wasn't. The fact that when his father left his brothers son by himself and then T'Challa ends up dying and leaving his son by himself is misleading. So both T'Challa and his father were wrong.
    The only black men that were honorable were the men that were fighting for liberation but the shadow of the hero diminished the heroism of the liberators. The liberators were villains.
    So T'Challa's son is going to grow up as an effeminate male and follow in his father's footsteps by giving Wakandas technology to everyone accept the ppl that need it. This was the narrative of the movie. T'Challa was a passive leader when it came to the problems on the continent but was proactive in the world of the colonizer.
    I dont like the first movie due to that.
    The whole story arc or blackness is rooted in the service of others rather than of self determination. That gets repeated in everything black. It's like we can't carve out a space for ourselves without integration and intersectionality being present among us.

She's on such a feminist kick, there is actually a scene where she's in school and was shocked when a teacher DIDN'T tell her Black women couldn't be whatever they wanted in life. She just stands there until she basically begs the teacher to tell her she can't accomplish anything so she can sit down.
