I remember I was in a call with some friends and one mentioned that you were doing these. I think I ordered mine just a few days after they were announced. Cannot wait to get a southern unit for my collection.
I hope that with all the varieties you can do, that when you do the Southern Railway units, you offer “as-delivered” and as used on the Southern Crescent in the 1970’s.
I am glad that Rapido is focusing on a lot of stuff which hasn't been produced in 30+ years. I look forward to seeing more 1st gen power in the future (cough cough BL-2's).
Nice, very nice. I have the NYC E8 on pre-order already. Bill, what are those brown coloured (UK spelling) buildings at the start of the video? A kit or scratch built? Looks like something I need.
I noticed that the coupler height is very off between the locomotive and boxcar in the shot over the thru truss bridge. Will this be fixed on the production model?
Love to order the Via unit, but what the hay would I do with it?I don’t have anything for the unit to haul. Any suggestions? I have one. How about retooling the smooth side coaches? Eh!
@@rapidotrains All the original DL&W E-8's had the lower mars headlights, All the Erie E-8's only came with upper head light. Are you going to offer the single head light ex-Erie/ EL units?
@@rapidotrains Indeed. A DC only silent unit is easily the same price as a DCC sound unit was a decade ago. Technology has advanced, sure but so has inflation even more. It's not Rapido's fault.
Who knows what the future holds, particularly with the current global situation and rising material and labour costs overseas. For the time being though, it's highly unlikely.
So the brake cylinders are molded with the pistons out, guess those who run them will have to hire more diesel mechanics to change out all the worn out brake shoes? Hope Rapido is ready to defend itself against all those class action suits for a defectively designed braking system! 🤣😂🙃 Seriously great looking model.
Have had my UP set on order for a while now. I'm chomping at the bit. Git 'er done.
We're working on it!
Beauty!!! Rapido just keeps setting thr bar higher and higher!!! Beauty Team, Beauty. Thank You.
Thanks!

Southern is certainly one of the prettiest schemes!
I'm just glad you guys are doing a proper Southern Railway one, we've been waiting on a proper non brass one for yearsss!
We're glad to answer the call!
I've got two of these on order, UP 942 and one of the CP action red ones.
Can't wait!
Nice! The wait will be over soon...
Hope to see MILW units some day. They would be a challenge from different options from each bach to how they changed over the years.
We'll be considering those for a future release.
Being a Erie Lackawanna Fan 😀I need one of these in my HO fleet 😃 Awesome model Rapido, Brilliant Job!!
Thanks a lot!
Excellent review on a nice layout with a lot of information, well done. Sooo much better than when the announcer holds the item in his hand!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just waiting on UP Heritage Fleet and Conrail OCS units...
Definite possibilities for the next run!
Looks fantastic 👌
Thanks!
That looks so awesome on the layout
Feels right at home, doesn't it?
This is absolutely amazing! Can't wait for my amtrak 4316
Thanks!
We ordered 6 Illinois central units thru Wasatch model railroad Cheyenne Wyoming.were excited about it
Nice!
Looking forward to seeing your Southern units!
Thanks, so are we!
Worth the wait. Looking forward to 4316.
👍
Beauty!
Cant wait for these in N scale :)
Maybe one day!
Great model! Love it!
Thank you! Cheers!
That is a very nice loco. Bill, you have a very nice layout there.
Thank you very much!
Lookin good! Funny to see an E-unit on the Never Young, Old & Weary ;)
Sure is!
I hope that with all the varieties you can do, that when you do the Southern Railway units, you offer “as-delivered” and as used on the Southern Crescent in the 1970’s.
We'll be looking at doing the as-delivered units in a future run!

We try not to step on anyone's toes, but we think 30-year-old tooling is fair game.
Pretty sure the southern Pacific had an E8, #6018, will you guys have that included?
Highly likely in the next run!
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice model
Thanks!
I sold off all my BLI UP E9's for my Rapido investment. Can't wait! :)
Music to our ears!
Nice I like the color scheme on the one you ran. You always focus on getting details right I like that.
GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
That's what we're all about!
They look pretty nice
Thanks!
I want this !
We've extended the order deadline, so get one while you can!
@@rapidotrains You don't understand. I want six of them.
Nice, very nice. I have the NYC E8 on pre-order already. Bill, what are those brown coloured (UK spelling) buildings at the start of the video? A kit or scratch built? Looks like something I need.
Likely scratch built structures that Bill made himself. He's quite the modeller!
I noticed that the coupler height is very off between the locomotive and boxcar in the shot over the thru truss bridge. Will this be fixed on the production model?
Absolutely!
@@rapidotrains Great! Just making sure :)
Waiting eagerly for my Amtrak 4316 models and one of the EL units
Soooooon....soooooon....
Love to order the Via unit, but what the hay would I do with it?I don’t have anything for the unit to haul. Any suggestions? I have one. How about retooling the smooth side coaches? Eh!
We'd like to retool some of these cars one day!
@@rapidotrains
So if I may read between the lines, you are looking for someone to fund the retooling!
Finally! Any idea when the 4316 ships?
It's due in Q2 of 2022.
Great layout bill what does it model?
Bill models the New York, Ontario & Western Railroad.
@@rapidotrains are we able to get a tour of it anytime soon?
Are you going to do a NYC lightning stripe version? I’d definitely go for a few.
We'll be looking at doing those in a future release.
Hope to see southern 6900 in the next run
Will the unit be offered in Pennsylvania scheme?? I need 2 units.
Indeed! rapidotrains.com/ho-emd-e8a-dc-dcc-sound-pennsylvania-5-stripe-scheme-5809.html
Do the lights work? Just wondering.
Yes these will have fully working light packages.
When are you guys doing the Toronto Maple Leafs themed E8?
As soon as they win the cup.
@@rapidotrains haha I will hold you to it
When are the E8s expected to come out?
The first batch with UP, PRR, Southern and IC is shipping to distributors now. All others will arrive early in the new year.
Looks awesome! Any chance of Frisco E8s in a future run?
We plan on doing multiple runs, so almost assuredly!
@@rapidotrains nice!
Magnificent, my Model Power E8A/B needs a sibling.
I have a CB&Q on pre-order (for a year now) hoping to hear a good estimate on shipping time frame.
A rough estimate would be late this year. We'll be posting updates online as they become available.
Very kool 🚂😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
So cool
Thank you!
A CP one would be mint👍🚂🇨🇦
We are doing the CP versions in 2 different paint schemes!
Would there be any chance of doing the E9.. and maybe the FoT 261’s 32A?
There's a chance!
Will the Burlington units have simulated stainless steel side panels? What road numbers will have them?
9942A will have the grey painted sides. All other road numbers will have the simulated stainless panels.
@@rapidotrains That's the number I ordered. Too late to pre order a stainless one?
White KCS (they only had two) would be cool 🤠
Maybe in a future release!
I hope that the Erie Lackawanna units will have only one headlight and no Mars light.
The road numbers we're offering all have dual nose lights as per their EL prototype.
@@rapidotrains All the original DL&W E-8's had the lower mars headlights, All the Erie E-8's
only came with upper head light. Are you going to offer the single head light ex-Erie/ EL units?
The horn playing on the decoder in there is a Leslie A125, not accurate for any E unit. It would be a Leslie A200 or Wabco E2 if a single chime.
The correct horns will be included on the production model.
Look forward to purchasing a CP action red DC unit from my local dealer. Sound is great, but unfortunately I'm blue collar.
There's still a lot of modellers that prefer non sound and it certainly helps same some cash!
@@rapidotrains Indeed. A DC only silent unit is easily the same price as a DCC sound unit was a decade ago. Technology has advanced, sure but so has inflation even more. It's not Rapido's fault.
If anyone leads the way, it would be Rapido. Is there any chance of ever moving production 100% to Canada? That would be epic!
Who knows what the future holds, particularly with the current global situation and rising material and labour costs overseas. For the time being though, it's highly unlikely.
@@rapidotrains Looking forward to the future, it tends to arrive more quickly than we think.
Is there smoke?
No smoke, sorry.
Nice looking engine e
Thank you!

Our legal team is ready!
nice unit and layout. (Tell the engineer to turn down his stereo lol).
👍
I hope the attachment of your Farr grilles stay flat and don't warp. Your production model is warped and it sticks out like a sore thumb.
This isn't a production model, it's a PRE-production model. We use them for testing and to work out the kinks & fit-and-finish issues.
