- Dave Gunn has created a stunning transition-era layout representing Canadian National industrial operations in eastern Ontario. Join this Master Model Railroader for a quick overview of his empire, see some of his exquisite scratch-built structures and maybe spot a few Rapido products along the way!
I had the pleasure and privilege to see Dave's layout last summer. Both he and his wife were gracious hosts but after seeing the layout first hand and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The layout is Museum quality and something to aspire to. Thank you Dave for posting this as you are right "Good enough is not good enough". If I'm invited back I'll bring some of my CP stuff 😉

WOW, what an excellent layout and concepts. Loved the idea of pullout shelving underneath the layout for access to wiring vs laying on your back to do repairs, brilliant.

The utter passion of the "Greatest Hobby On Earth" and why we're drawn to it on so many different levels. I couldn't stand in the shadow of this man and his superb talent as all that I can do is marvel over it, and be inspired. Bravo sir, Bravo!

Fantastic layout. Truly a master model railroader. Ingenious use of the fascia being removable and the wiring behind them on the shelves. Seems like a very nice guy too.👍

I'm very glad to see someone modeling the industrial type of a layout instead of the slot car version of going in circles. My current plans is to build a small industrial railroad with industrial scenes that we usually don't see modeled. You're truly an inspiration to us.
However anyone chooses to enjoy the hobby is great, but we agree, industries were the lifeblood of railways so it's nice to see them done the justice they deserve!

Amazing, the scope of scratch built structures is incredible. I love the scope of huge industries, its something rarely seen in layouts and this one is packed with them. I love his 70 year plan. Cheers, Rob

@@rapidotrains track and wiring all finished. Landforms and scenery next. Adding a turnout though, to accommodate a barrel ore car train. Can’t wait. That’s what my upper deck was built for.

Rapido would need to model either SLCC equipment or the KCS SLC/ACF cars from 1960-1961

If I'm not mistaken I'm hearing a West Country Accent.... is Mr Gunn an ex pat?? I used to model Canadian National/Union Pacific but it's so hard getting rolling stock over here and I don't have the space, certainly not to run either my beloved Rivorossi "Big Boy" cerca 1992 or DD40x. However I must be a glutton for punishment as I recently acquired 3 Bachman Spectrum ON3 narrow gauge loco's, 2 in box's and the third a 28 tonne Shay being converted into an oil burner.....
Dave is from the UK, yes. He lived in Manchester.
