    I'm a massive Conrail fan but when I saw this layout for the first time in Model Railroader I
    couldn't put the article down, Wow what an awesome layout,
    I still have that edition of
    Model Railroader too!!

  • @MrOmega52
    @MrOmega52 8 месяцев назад +7

    Wow, what a magnificently beautiful railroad this is. My favorite railroad is the L & N because my uncle worked as a conductor for over twenty years from the mid 60's to the momid 80s until an accident and medical retirement. I live in East Tennessee and am glad to see a railroad modeled for this area. We see a lot of beautiful western railroads, but few from the Appalachian region it seems. I'm just an armchair model railroader since I have no room for one but enjoy rail fanning the railroads of others. Is there a lot of maintenance of the electrical portion of the layiut?

      Yes there are at times, but the guys who work on the layout are very good at identifying the issue and solving the problem quickly!

    Beautiful layout. You should add sound to the engines to make it more realistic.

    • @SymphonyBob
      @SymphonyBob 8 месяцев назад +2

      A number of the locomotives do have sound, which does add to the realism. The downside of having too many sound-equipped locomotives operating at the same time is due to Gary’s design of the layout: There is so much track compressed to a relatively small area, the sound carries further than it would in the real world and it becomes distracting. For example, the distance between the mainline coming down from Eldridge Camp into Glenbrook and the Rock Creek Branch at North Dent is scenically separated by “hundreds of miles” but physically (literally) just a couple feet through a 1/4-inch thick backdrop.

Gauge from ages of 7 to 20 years of age but I changed into N scale Trains when I was 22 years of age and I have been there ever since and I love it and now I have been a N scale train collector since then I have 125 N scale Locomotives and I have about 5000 train cars and that's me

    A very complete vision and theme, the color pallet is seamless. I like everything about this layout, especially the purposeful need for train activity and the directional nature. One of the best layouts I've seen, I'll watch this video several times to take it all in.

    I was hoping to find the link to the video that Bruce mentioned regarding the operation of the CTC panel, but I do not see that here. Maybe it’s because I am looking with the iPhone app and not on the actual RUclips site?

    • @KenN.OXN.805
      @KenN.OXN.805 6 месяцев назад +1

      I’m pretty late to watching this, so maybe the link to the ctc video wasn’t present when you first watched.
      I too am using an iPhone app for RUclips. In the description, you must locate the “…more” links to expand the content of the description to view more of the description text. I had to click a “…more” link twice to find the ctc link.
