I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. McCormick at the Streamliners event in NC at the Transportation Museum a few years back. I even helped in washing the 190 to get her ready for the debut on the turntable. Great times with great people.
I don’t really collect HO scale trains but have a few of the Rapido Fishbowl buses. You can see from this video and others done by Rapido that all the employees really like what they do. I admittedly don’t know anything about the train they are featuring in this video but the attention to detail is incredible to me. Accuracy is very important to these guys. Other companies that are out there producing collectibles or models in any scale should pay attention. Most companies won’t even directly address their customers .These guys are actually introducing themselves to their customers.I wish them continued success.
Glad to see Alco's glamor girl in a model of this caliber, especially my beloved Espee's "varieties"! Southern Pacific had the biggest fleet of PAs, btw, and Rapido's models appear to be very faithful reproductions.
Thanks guys at Rapido for doing the ATSF Alco PA/PB im exited about this as i already have an old original release of Proto2000 sets of ABBA units that are nice but... u know its not Rapido !!So these will be a very very nice addition to my fleet !!💖💖💖
Very nicely done! On a side note of interest, I believe former D&RGW Alco PB-1 #600B is currently being used out of Sault on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train (former Algoma Central) but being used as a HEP car. You might want to give that a looksie if you have the time for it.
It was awesome coming down and getting to meet all of you! Great to see this engine and can’t wait for the N scale version! Oh, and if you decide to break into narrow gauge, remember Oregon has that too! But on the east side. 😁
I'd buy one but again, wrong era. Sadly. However, it makes me so happy to see a company appreciate the Lehigh Valley Railroad. She may be gone but it's definitely not forgotten.
I have a HO PA & PB 1 from Athearn from the late 70s. They are in the Erie Lackawana paint, which I don't think they ever had, as a 13 year old at the time, I thought they were cool!!
Soundtrack: the sound you over-dubbed for the loco moving sounded like a 244 12-cylinder prime mover...didn't these locos have the 244 16-cylinder unit?
They did have a 244 V16, but we dubbed over the existing 244 v12 for the video to be entertaining. This doesn’t represent what sound the model will have. Oddly enough the 190 is now equipped with a 12V 251C from a retired M420b.
Shame he didn't fit a V16! I imagine you could pick one up at virtually every street corner in India. Are there any operable 244 V16 prime movers still in existence? I believe there is one in Mexico at a museum? It is surely a hunt for the rarest of the rare locomotive prime movers.
Inside the NKP 190 will beat the hart of the BC Rail 868 M420B that was badly damaged in a derailment in northern British Columbia. So using the sound tracks from the M420 program should work for the PA project...PA4!
I won't name other big model train comapnies, but considering they have more income than Rapido and yet they don't bother to put the time or care into 3D modeling ad scanning their locomotives against the RL version, speaks more about Rapido's dedication to quality models.
Ok, how is it possible for it not to be operational and yet still be able to move itself? I've been trying to find out about 190's status for about eight years and this is the biggest chunk of info I've ever found! In addition, I had thought 190 was the only "running" PA in existance but as it turns out, one of the two left in Mexico is in fact operational! I believe it's N de M #DH-19.
You guys should make a C40-8W/C40-8. Scale Trains is only making the C39-8, and ik that Atlas made a batch of em but, they suck at everything and as a rapido fan I'd love too see a Dash 8 by you guys because y'all are amazing at every model you guys make.
While some of Santa Fe's PA's had their roofs painted silver in latter years , Most kept their Stainless roofs to the end. Please do them with the stainless roofs and not what all the other plastic manufactures( Precision Craft, MTH, and Walthers) did and paint them silver. D&H 19 kept her stainless roof, The other 3 got painted silver.
I read the title and thought Alco made a new loco with a classic shape for modern use on rail lines. But it wont happen since that shape isnt believed to be aero dynamic
@@rapidotrains awwww man :( i thought they were still around, well then EMD should develop some engines in the type of design as the f units, for aesthetics

Also if you make it powered huge bonus! :) There are a LOT of Gs models out there, and I am sure because it's been used with the 700 and 3751 it's no just guys with Daylights that would want them.
@@rapidotrains I dont know a water bottle sound a lot easier then a full locomotive. ;) What about a Sp 3/4 dome!? Now that the Cp finished its restoration its a Canadian prototype now. :)
Nothing as classic as the famous PA! This model was such a beautiful locomotive, unfortunately beset with so many issues like the FAs. Thankfully we have five units: one in Brazil, two in Mexico, and two in the US. One converted B unit also exists. I hope NKP 190 will run again soon, as well as ATSF 59 in the future.

True. The only difference in cost between a powered and unpowered model is the cost of the motor, which is a few dollars. Nobody would buy an unpowered model that retails for $10 less than the powered one.
