- We have a jam-packed video with FOUR sample reviews!
For Canadian modellers, we go over two RS18 rebuilds with CP's RS18u and CN's RSC14. And for our American friends, we take a look at two different variants of our improved second-release RS11s, namely DWP and NKP.
So sit back and join Jordan on this adventure, with a special appearance by Dan Darnell and even a post-credit cameo by a certain someone...
Order deadline is March 15th (NOT February 15th as indicated in the video), so don't delay!
Please visit rapidotrains.com for more details.
I’m so excited for my RSC-14. Been a huge Rapido fan since I got my beloved RS-18. Love your company and interactions with the community.
Thanks for the support!
@@rapidotrains my pleasure! I’m a happy customer, and am more than happy to let everyone know that lol
Nice to RS-18u's in production. A lot of my conductor training was done at Tillsonburg yard with the Ontario Southland Railway's RS-18u number 182. Which was an ex-CP unit.
Beauty!
Can’t wait for the RS-18u
Neither can we!
They all look like they are going to be awesome !
Thanks, we're very excited for these ourselves!
More great work from you guys at Rapido, awesome!
Thanks for watching!
The NKP unit looks very promising. Nice to see pre-production units up for early review 👍
Thanks!
RS18u. My favourite MLW locomotive!
Awesome!
Such precision!
👍
Can’t wait to get my RSC-14 and start my PEI diorama!
Awesome!
Looking forward to a 2nd release of the RS-11s!
👍
BCRY/PGE yes. . . Keep up the good work!
They would require significant new tooling, but anything is possible.
So that's how you decided to destroy my bank account!!
We've declared war on bank accounts everywhere!
Nice locomotives with it's different styles. Now for someone to offer the Trinity plastic pellet covered hoppers. The 5800 capacity car with it's none cutouts on the ends and the late 6200 capacity car. The later car being out there in mass.
👍
Very nice locomotives! That's some pretty impressive sound out that thing too! Just one question, you mentioned you had to design a new motor for this locomotive, is this going to be just for these Alcos or will the new motor be in the upcoming U25B and GP38 models as well?
Thanks! Our new and improved motors are now in all of our locomotives.
@@rapidotrains nice, because I do plan to order a Frisco U25B, and a BNSF GP38!
Great video Rapido! If there are any GBW fan out there. Let's start requesting them to do GBW's RS11. We all know Rapido will do superb job on it.
We'll keep those in mind for a future release.
I've got an Alco RSD15 Alligator in GBW from Broadway Limited, and an old RS11 from Atlas. Green Bay shows the way in Alco Haulic bliss. Rapido will lay the track smack downeth on the Bay of Green.
@@rapidotrains Hate to leave a reply on an old video. Green Bay & Western only had the one RS11, #309. I'd assume for simplicity's sake it would be produced in its 'as built' appearance, but its rebuilt form would sure be something to see in a stock model, especially since it would open up the potential WC/KB&S patch schemes. Speaking of KB&S, would be nice to see some of their RS11s. Outside of a limited run by Atlas back in 2005(?), I don't believe anyone else has produced a KB&S RS11, or any KB&S locomotive for that matter.
I hope you plan to release "undecorated" versions as well. ;-) Cheers - Boomer.
Alas, we've stopped producing undecorated locomotives as there just wasn't enough demand for them.
@@rapidotrains Not according to Otter Valley. Why don't you ask them? Also ask them how much "dead" stock they have of obscure road names sitting on the shelf. Not sure I agree with you. ~ Boomer.
To quote the 1970's era character Arnold Horshack "very impressive." Also I'm interested in the catenary on the demonstration track.
Thanks! The catenary is from Peco
Can you please set the sound volume way down at the factory so I don't feel like getting all stabby with the speaker
Easy fix, just set CV63 to your desired level (0-192).
I would sell preproduction sample inspired models as a limited run :-D
Hmmm, extra revenue...
RSC14 #longhoodfoward yessssssss
👍
My favourite locomotive yet: MLW RSC-14. It’s too bad that the Salem and Hillsborough has shut down. At least 1754 still stands at the New Brunswick Railway Museum. I hope to model the S&H when I have the space. Where did you find that video footage of the S&H? Thanks for your amazing videos.
This footage came courtesy of "fmnut". His channel is a goldmine of old video and film clips going back many decades.

@@rapidotrains Thanks
I will be RSVP-ing a couple RS11s.
Great!
The axles, are they still plastic?🤔
Nice. my RS18u will pull the STCUM comet cars - I see new electrical installed on your mini layout, the EP5 is coming :)
We look forward to seeing that! EP-5 isn't far out now too and are currently in transit from the factory.
Nice work 👍
Thanks 👍
Very nice. A shame they don't fit my chosen era to model. 😉👍
👍
A little late to the party but does the Minnesota Commercial variant come with rear facing ditch lights per the real life prototypes?
These will only have the front ditch lights unfortunately as the tooling was only set up for the front versions as very few units got this modification. With some modelling, it may be possible to retrofit them on the long hood end however.
"Not installed till Tuesday" star trek reference?
Absolutely!
Bcr rs18u next ?
BCR RS-18s are a long shot as the tooling would have to be almost all new. If the conditional BCR M420W does well we'll keep them in mind however.
@@rapidotrains cool
N Scale version of the rsc14 please
Hit up that product suggestion form!
Does the puppy come with the correct class lights?
For sure! 😁
Trying to figure out what I gotta do with this 18 to change it to a RSD17 Empress of Agincourt.🚂🇨🇦
Get a Broadway limited rsd-15...
Yes for an RSD17 you might be better starting with the Broadway RSD-15 as they share a common chassis and wheel base.
Love the Star Trek reference ("won't be installed 'til Tuesday") :)
That's how we roll!
Beautiful! Please don’t leave out us Mexican railroad modelers.FCP and NdeM had RS11’s.
We'll keep them in mind for the future.
will that lone VIA RS unit 8558 ever be made??
If we ever do RS10s, it would have to be included!
@@rapidotrains Excellent!!
I absolutely love Canadian locomotives. Especially MLW ones. Alco is MLW, and Indian as well. USA, Canada, India. The 251 powered locomotives will never die. Rapido, you guys get it. Montreal and Schenectady and Banaras. Alcos can run on soybeans. The sound can cure depression. Lifted souped up Diesel pickups are for insecure mommies boys. Alco Forever!!! Scrap pickup trucks....save locomotives!!! Make USA, India, and Canada great again. Build Alcos, even the 18 cylinder model and the HR616. Mass produce the m640. Alco Haulic diesel hydraulic and the c855 rule. Tune out this insane world with the sound of 539t, 244, and 251 music.
This is poetry.
@@rapidotrains Thanks. I really love locomotives!!!! I know you guys do and it shows. Life without passion is useless. Make me a Rapido burrito with all the sauce!!! Luv youz guyz. Crankee yankee. My God, if people only knew how much work and math you guys gotta do to make awesome models. I am in awe. When I get a vacation, I'd love to take a tour on your floor. Much respect. MLW ALCO Forever!!!
I have to ask, what will the minimum and recommended radius curves be for the RS-18u and RSC-14s?
They should be able to handle 18" with ease.
OK so for the RSC-14s and the RS-18us is the order deadline Feb.15th or March 15th? You didn't;t clarify which locomotives had which date as the one in the vid description is different.
Our bad, it's March 15th. The date was pushed back after the video was already done.
Awsum video 🚂❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
Glad you liked it!
RSC-14 !!!!!!!
👍
La rsd12 de alco tienen que fabricar en argentina tenemos el único modelo fabricado por alco la del 540 , rsd16 , ni EEUU la tiene ni Canadá
Nice!
Awesome!! Are the RSC-14 models powered on all axles?
These have an A-1-A truck pattern like the prototypes with the centre axle being an idler. All wheels are metal and pick up track power however.
@@rapidotrains Excellent, thank you!
guys need to make cnw rs11 4251
We'll be looking at including this unit in a future RS-11 release!
Will you guys release the new website this week?
We're hoping it'll be up in a couple of days.
Nice
Thanks!
Do they have NEM sockets?
Our locomotive models come equipped with 21-MTC DCC sockets.
@@rapidotrains meant coupler box
How hard is it to get the shell off ?
Easy! The redesigned body lifts off in one piece. Just remove the coupler boxes and a couple other screws.
I hope one day we see a SD60F😞
Another manufacturer has already announced an HO Scale SD60F.
@@rapidotrains I'm just hoping it's up to the same high standards and level of detail that rapido is
Aurora Miniatures has already announced the SD60F.
The radiator fan on the RSC-14 is still too small in diameter! Otherwise the model look great.
If you have info on this we'd love to see your research! Please feel free to send an email to the team and they will review your information: trains@rapidotrains.com
I would really love a RSC14, was considering selling the wife but her market value has really tanked far below Bidens approval ratings 🤣 just kidding, but she aint what she used to be though 😁
Yikes! We'll stay out of that one. 😅
