Nokia XR20 | Unboxing & Full Tour | Toughest Phone of 2021!

- Опубликовано: 22 май 2024
- Unboxing the Nokia XR20, possibly the toughest Android 5G smartphone of 2021, with a full tour of the specs, camera tech, gaming chops and more. You can grab the rugged Nokia XR20 SIM-free for £399 in the UK, available soon! Check out my reviews of other mid-range Android phones for alternative ideas.
Having passed a selection of MIL-STD 810H tests, this phone can handle drops of up to two metres and is IP68 water and dust resistant. You get a stock Android experience with three years of OS and four years of security updates, plus extra guarantees. Super peace of mind, there.
The Nokia XR20 isn't as impressive as some rivals like the OnePlus Nord 2 for the screen tech and performance, but it'll handle everyday shenanigans fine. You've got 5G support, while light gaming on CODM and PubG isn't a problem either. You can also expect long battery life while the camera can shoot good looking, vibrant photos.
So that's my hands-on review, let me know your thoughts below.

Nokia going back to their roots and making unbreakable phones like the good ol' days ❤
It’s built well to be fair, but processing power is lacking
Aye, I remember those Lumias were tough as nails, and you could actually dropkick a 3310 and it'd just laugh at you
@@TechSpurt it would not laugh at you, you'll just end up with a broken foot
@@drchocolate98 lol
Yes, with a billion years old cheap, incapable processor.
Hope that Nokia can continue on this path. Having its own style is more important to keep loyalty fans.
I love how they omit a charger for "environmental" reasons, yet bundle in a cable and plenty of paper work all wrapped up in a nice cardboard box! Nice to see a phone that isn't totally fragile, or in need of a case. Reminds me of my early Nokia 3310s that I could drop multiple times and never worry about there being much in the way of damage.
Lolzz so you no need to buy a charger? is it auto charging system?
Yeah they omit the charger, but then add like 5 books instead. Good one Nokia!
@@manzurchowdhury481 No he was being sarcastic. It’s a stupid excuse for them to save more money by assuming you already have a charger to fit the phone. Because apparently $500+ isn’t enough for a charger to use the device you just bought. 🙄
I'm sure Nokia can beat every other franchise, if comes up with good features, latest chipset, better quality, and at better price point.
That’s everything lmfao
Wdym by quality? This phone literally trashes and negs every other phones out there in terms of build and software quality overall. And "good features"? Don't need them since most of them turns to be unnecessary and gimmicks. But yeah, nokia should provide better processor at this price point like the 870 or atleast 778g. But hey, this is solely a monster of a durable phone and that's why maybe nokia is charging that much of a price
Nokia blows Apple out of the water.
Guess that Jerryrig eyes would shine sharp looking at the devices..a tough challenges perhaps..
Exactly what I was thinking!! Can't wait for his upload torturing this:)
his tools would scratch at level 6

Jerry rig : finally a worthy opponent 📱📱🔥🔥🔥

I actually hate jerry rig. Unless he is destroying apple.

4:29 the Lock screen sound has been around since Android 2 or 3 i think.
I felt nostalgic hearing it, i didn't know that they still haven't changed it!
I recognise it from my days with lineage OS on my old redmi note 4 and before that on my original Moto G
It's the stock AOSP sound haha. I'm surprised they didn't change it, along with the shutter.
@@SirFaceFone I'm not sure why they would. It's a good sound lol
I want to hear all the ringtons from rocket to williams etc
Can you turn off that startup sound like you can on the Motorola?
Chris, I was just reading about this phone , looked on RUclips and there you go with it! 😁
Terrific review as always buddy!
Same😁
I generally refrain myself from commenting on tech videos specially the review type but you have done some commendable work here. So keep up the good production quality going on.
Amazing unboxing and hands on review as always Chris Sir
Glimpses of Old Nokia 💙
Wrong. Go check on the latest phone nokia released just some days ago
I'm Happy to see the old nokia phones are back, now as smartphones... It looks really really good...👏👏
this color of the cell phone that wraps around the front looks great, it looks like it comes with a case 👏🏻hugs from Brazil 👊🏻
I'm getting old and I just want a durable phone with awesome software experience.
This looks like perfect tbh, if only it was amoled or poled.
Amoled isn't as durable as a good ol lcd. My personal experience. An amoled will bust up even if the glass survived the harsh drop. But lcd won't stop working.
I have OLED screen, right now. Zero difference in picture quality, or battery life. I don't care about anymore.
I bought a xiaomi mi 11 ultra with a amoled it broke on my first real drop stopped working completely replacement screen is 400+ not including labor costs
dude if ur old you dont need an oled display
Definitely getting this one make Nokia great again
What a nice intro for the device 😂
Thanks, best review I’ve seen yet, answered all my questions, and a few more 👍
Man i love this dude unboxing and reviews

Another great review. Thanks again Chris.
To be completely honest... I didn't know that Nokia still make phones... so the old legend never died...
Thanks for the great video!
That looks like a pretty good phone. I'm positively surprised.
same i was just looking at phones and i seen it and i was like i got to get this phone
It looks a bit $h!t for the price of $640 USD in my country. SD 480, dim 60hz LCD with thick bezels, no OIS, feels cheap in hand.
@@craigpodsprojames2500 well it up to you to spend more on durability or the fragile one, sd 480 5g quite good too
Wow wow what a mobile. Superb design and excellent durability so good Nokia. I am waiting for this device.
Great review by the way. Thank you!
First from the rest. Thanks for the review I am really waiting for this phone review
Been waiting for you do this thinking off getting ones these to use at work

@@craigpodsprojames2500 i do at the moment but I’m not much for a case on a phone
Amazing review 🔥🔥👍
I love how he's being so honest
Thanks 👍 for everything, bro we need from Nokia XR 20 gaming review!
3:38 it is also a washing sponge 🤣 it is really good for all occasions. Good Nokia
This was the most short lived but enjoyable drop test I've watched in awhile 😂
you always do excellent reviews
I like the way how you drop the phone. Dropping like a toy. A class durability! < 3
Ever since my first mobile (Motorola 8000X) phones have become so flimsy, i went with a Nokia after the Motorola because it was tough, then came smartphones (iphone 3G) then they became thinner, bigger & more fragile (crap essentially) so i am looking forward to getting my hands of this new Nokia, currently the black ones are sold out here in Australia, noice review. 👍
Environmental reason for avoiding a charging adapter, but keeps bundles and bundles of paperwork in the box!
@giulia agree. But these companies want to make a few bucks more, hiding behind a social cause!
By saying that avoiding a charger helps reduce e-waste
@giulia Apple comes with weird ideas, others mock apple first, later follow suit. Atleast they can keep it optional, but hey that's a risk they don't want to take and rather create a new market!
Nokia go woke go broke! The fact that I have to buy a separate power brick whilst you provide pages of instructions on paper means that you won't get me as a new owner.
@@madness8556 The main reason they do it is probably that they save a bit money by not including the charger (not like they sell the phone cheaper, probably charge a bit more for being so environmentally conscious), and then they can sell you the charger separately as well.
The opening ringtone was nostalgic and EPIC at the same time
Great video! Holy smokes, that brick will cost twice the price of poco f3 and 3 times the price of redmi note 10s in my neck of the woods. I'll be forgetting it as soon as... what's that video for? Kiddiiiiiiiiiing... you are all awesome. Cheers!
I definitely get this one 🤓
~love stock andro❤️🔥
Why this drop test looked so hilarious 😂😂
Wow, this phone was released kind of like yesterday and you have already got it, your good, never the less I keep missing most of the review since I can not overcome the pervert in me and keep getting stuck at the MI.. Ladies debut.
I'm actually sold. I wish Nokia/HMD Global would have its own OS like old times seeing how cool their newest smartphones look.
They are focuses again on build quality
Indeed
This phone is not worth this kind of money. 🤷♂️
That's why I just bought it. It's fast to use also.
I was considering the Samsung flip 3 but as carpenter
/Painter the screen would probably not survive.
@@KevinSolem Motorola Defy seems much better. One of the better rugged phones lately.
@@gorans9756 my last phone was a Nokia 2.3 and it did NOT last even a full year..🤦🏻♀️ got laggy after a month and I didn't have a lot on it. And as a covid high-school student I needed something that would work for school. I finally got a samsung a32 5g and I almost cried with how much better it was. (I bought the Nokia myself btw, it was 130 dollars but I was desperate)
They should ditch those booklets and give us the charger instead.
That's the smartest play . Not giving a charger , relieves them from providing a high watt charger as demanded by the market , which basically destroys your battery life by atleast 50% in long term
@@qwill8254 isn't that good for them. Less phone life = more frequent phone buys.
@geon geon not to nokia or apple ... Brand loyalty means something . I still use me nokia 5 charge on all my phones .... Including my Blackberry passport and gemini pda
@@qwill8254 Apple thinks otherwise, They want Customer Loyalty but push Updates that slows down iphone and also reduces how much battery is charged..
@@qwill8254 Unless they gave us an absurd 200W charger, the battery life will still last long enough. They could also just gave us a capable 18W or 25W charger, which won't hurt your battery life much and still charge quite fast.
Congrats on hitting 600k subs 🙂 btw nice overview of the nokia-thank you for the upload🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
another superb episode, currently using an oppo reno 4Z
"Obviously the last shot am shooting"
"Not a scratch, never had any doubt"

Love it. If they had a smaller version it would be tough competition to the pixel 4a.
Not with that processor
with a snapdragon 480?? I don't think so lol
Google can get away with a low end chip, 60hz display because it has: an OLED display with bezels 1/4 the size. Some amazing software tricks, flagship camera. Nokia on the other hand can't. I've held both & the Nokia feels like $h!t in comparison.
Not in this lifetime lol
Love ur humour..u have a new subscriber and also btw good content 👍
*Forgotten Legend.*
*Rise Good Luck...!!!*
very nice build quality, great battery, good enough camera and general performance, great build and software support + most needed hardware features are awesome to see - nice job by Nokia and we need more XR lineup phones with this build 💪 but Nokia desperately needs to start bringing at least 90 Hz screens because if the phone does not have a top tear CPU, 60 Hz screen does not cut it...
At least Japanese know how to make shit last unlike American iphone and Korean junky samsung
@@alias1267 wtf
SD 4 series is the power efficient line. This is definitely a Motorola killer. Android one with all the android features, even the ones missing from flagships like the headphone port
Whoa already reach 600k subs way to go veronica ....
Just wanted to comment
You have a cool Anchovy background, truly a Chad
Looks like a good phone for your everyday average user. I was sold at dual sim as those are hard to come by, my only real complaint is no OLED screen
We need the Spurt toughness olympics 🙌
U r a smart man with great ideas 👏👏. He should also hit up Jerryrigeverything.
welcome back Giant
Awesome your review 👍
The real question is, is it tougher than Nokia 3310? They need to fight, Beyblade style.
To the death 🤣☠️
If I had any time/creative talent, I'd definitely do entire videos where two phones just have at it anime style over heavy metal music
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The only thing tougher than the 3310 is the 3310

Good day. Is the XR20 available in the South East Asia? Will it be able to receive updates if it's used in that area? Thanks and keep up the informative and entertaining reviews.

Thank you for uploading the Video, in Vietnam we are also quite excited because Nokia has removed the logo at the bottom of the screen 🤣

Humm yeahhh, my sales and warehouse guys are getting these, costs me a fortune with the amount of shite they break. And I trust your shorts action stance Chris... or should I ?
Sounds like a worthy replacement for my Nokia 6.1. Maybe more expensive, but i have good experience with Nokia brand so few more quids is fine.
11:58 such a beautiful shot
Beautiful explanation or really a best buy !!!
Nokia: going along the environment drive by not giving a charger brick
Also Nokia: prints 5 manuals
OK, Greta
I have a Nokia 5.3 and it’s the best phone I’ve had...Super smooth performance thanks to stock Android....Much better performance than Samsung or Sony..It also has a cool white notification led on the power button which is really unique.
I have a 5.3 too. I love it.
I've got that, task switching and the swipe keyboard are huge problems as they keep freezing all the time for several seconds, how did you get around that?
@@CaptainSaveHoe I have not had that problem to be honest

Same but at this price point ? Hell naw 😂

Return Of The King.
Love this. Daddy Tech did a fantastic review as always! Me want this Nokia XR20 bad boy! Nokia phones may not look as exciting as some competitors at launch, but once you get one and start using it, the experience is actually very good, well for me at least. The design, build quality, the clean UI and software courtesy of Android One, make these devices better than one might think. The OS and security patch updates are also a plus as well, as is the extended warranty.
Nokia phone does not look good as other competitors....R u joking....Have u not see 8.3, 7.2, 8.1?
@@JasanAhamed Speak for yourself. I don't care about the competition. The 8.1, 7.2 and 8.3 are all good, solid devices. If you don't like them or Nokia that is your problem. Unless you buy me my phone, I couldn't care less about what you think. Sorry...

No no no bro, you have to do a drop test on tiles rather than wood 🤣🤣🤣
Plus you gotta drop it facedown too 👍
I wish he did a side drop test that will hit the corner. I had nokia 7 plus i dropped it and it landed right on the lower left corner and cracked my screen, and it was a substantial crack. It had an aluminium side rail all around and the back is aluminium covered by ceramic coat.
@@Edwardin1989 i doubt he would do that, imagine if that XR20 cracked while he was doing that, pr disaster for Nokia.
He would also never get any Nokia phones again 🤣🤣🤣
@@DRIVER-SEBVET haha for the side drop is the ultimate drop test.haha
You kind of get the feeling that there is a great phone left in the Nokia warehouse just waiting to be launched and they are holding back. Sticking with IPS displays and bog standard processors is just holding them back
Ips display is not at all bad...Only ips display will be long last for more years...And also the processor is new one...For stock android is more than enough...U wont get lack....Without having phone in ur hand, dont tell anything without knowing
@@JasanAhamed I stuck with Nokia for a few years, ending with the 7 Plus which I loved, but going to an animated screen there really is no contest.
just want to tell that amoled screen is more expensive than lps for most phones used. and 480 is equally strong as 720. so this is very good phone I would say
@@Nyartai The One Plus Nord 2 is only £399 with all the bells and whistles. Nokia cannot justify their pricing with years old tech
@@joecantdance494 as i said this phone is not an old tech. ofc Chinese phones are always the leaders of their product in every category. but doesn't mean people will bought it because it's the best. it's what people want even with "doesn't matter of specs or price as long my phones works fine and durable enough". so I respect ur offer and thank you for that. but I'm interested in this even tho it's a little expensive
I have a razer 2 and a ROG 3 that are both holding up great despite the Razer being old as balls (2.2 years, only camera lense cracked, great build quality).....this phone I'm considering getting instead of another gaming phone. I've had 4 Nokia's since the 1020 and it's nice to see them stand by their products so soundly in the mid price range. I'm all in for this phone
THE KING IS BACK 🔥
This phone is definitely for your parents... They don't need processing power! They need the battery and reliability to last like the original 3310!
Maybe if it was cheaper. It’s just too expensive.
