- Hands-on review with the Nokia X20, giving it my usual full unboxing and tour treatment, just without the actual box. This £299 budget UK smartphone boasts Zeiss camera tech and the 5G-ready Snapdragon 480 platform, plus three years of warranty cover and Android updates. However, the Nokia X20 specs aren't as strong as some rivals, so it's all about priorities here.

The main advantage with this affordable mobile vs other budget handsets is the stock Android 11 experience. This comes with a guarantee of support up to Android 14 by HMD Global, so as far as futureproofing goes, you're set.
The Nokia X20's camera is certainly feature-packed, serving up all kinds of photo and video smarts. You can shoot cinema-style home movies with 21:9 aspect ratio at 24fps, with a variety of filters on offer. I also enjoyed the gaming experience on CoD, so PubG fans etc should be more than happy.

And how can you go wrong by ending the vids with, "Love you." Literally still surprises me each time, and makes my day so much better.
That Nokia phone made me all nostalgic until that price slapped me back to 2021.

I just bought one and am very happy with it. Any slight shortfalls regarding hi-tech specifications are things which I don't need anyway, and it ticks all of my boxes. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it.

Could you please tell me what are the "shortfalls" you were talking about in this post? I am in need of a new phone right now and this model right here really pique my interest. I for one doesn't really care about any fancy stuff such as Camera quality since I'm not really fond of taking pictures. Just daily usage of scrolling RUclips, Facebook, Twitters and several other apps such as Whatapps and of course 9Gag.

Bought a Nokia 5.3 and sent it back in less than a week really poor experience and bought a Poco X3 NFC and absolutely love it! Blitzes anything Nokia, sorry hmd can even dream of. These trash phones don't deserve the Nokia name.

In my country there are only 3 camera brands: Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi.
I like Motorola and Nokia because of the stock android experience.
What can I say, it's an ok phone. When are Nokia going to surprise us with a flagship contender? A pureview monster.

Tbh I haven't seen one of the newer Nokias in person (I have a Nokia 8 with chunky bezels) but I do like the branding on the bottom.

It's going to be interesting to see how many markets this mid range phone gets to be sold in. As Nokia only got a 0.7 % market share of smartphone sales in 2020, some stores may not even bother stocking them.

From a long time Subscriber a Quick question, any chance you can find a phone that doesn't suffer with micro jitters when doing a slow panning video shot, ie frames skipping or looking jittery if you know what i mean. The only quarm is, that "Google Assistant" button can be pressed easily & can be a pain!
That Google Assistant button can be disabled in Settings. I could have done without the button at all, but this is still nice... I wish there was a setting to make that button do something else what I wanted as a customisable-shortcut, but oh well...

Nokia starting new named series X,G and C - all seem to be budget markets. Wonder if that is the new strategy or will there be a flagship at some point. Seem to have been few senior people leaving Nokia so guess we'll have to wait and see.
This "new" lineup from nokia is shockingly bad. Just hard to believe they decided release these monstrosities for such prices. I guess now it is just a question of time then they will end up like LG.
Nokia has been reacquired a bunch of times. LG couldn't find a buyer.
A thing to admire about LG was their commitment to innovation (first big phone launch with a tall 18:9 display, LG Wing etc.). Nokia seem to strive to get the basics right and can't even do that properly.
Nokia seems like relic these days, it’ll join LG in the grave, eventually.
LG gave us 1440p over 5 years ago, high quality DACS and cameras. Their only failing was marketing. We get sold garbage at a premium today with "fancy" branding to appeal to mainstream consumer zombies.
Now that LG is gone the only company Nokia competes with is Motorola😔

Side mounted finger print scanner, nice, both front end but mostly the back camera arrangements are cool, love that inner ring, heck, it's a 5G splendid, I love the memory options, am not to thrilled about the price but for a phone that can go for 5 years into the future I would say it is tolerable, but why in the hell did they bump up the size from the 6.3 Inches that the 5.4 has?

This is just lazy from Nokia. That design is 2019 and makes the phone look cheaper than it actually is. The whole line up is horrendous. 🤮
It's actually HMD Global that designed it, who better to receive the negative criticism than Nokia....the brand that has been kicked around, spit on, and used up....blame HMD.

@Vaibhav Pandey Zeiss isn't the issue here, it's HMD that decided to use that lens. This isn't the type of Zeiss collaboration that we saw with the original PV 808 or Lumia 1020 PureView, it's mostly for marketing/branding.
If you can't do 8mp on your ultrawide and 5mp on your macro, don't even bother including them. The main lens is what 90% of people use exclusively anyway.

This is a pre-production unit, right? Hopefully the holepunch and bezels will look skinnier once it's actually available for purchase, like in the official photos on their website. For now in these pre-production units they look kinda cheap and outdated despite them not being either cheap or outdated.
Love Nokia can't wait for a flagship rocking with a 8.3 at the moment

Nokia phones are crazy durable which equals to reliable, their principle lives on. I'd rather this than a smartphone rushing to tech trends with no clear distinction.
I like the branding at the bottom chin, it looks quite classy, other brand just go with the trend which comprises good design.

I do like this phone but the 480 chip is only limited to 1080p video, and I really wan't a faultless camera - Megapixals aren't everything. But the stock Android and long support is probably the biggest thing for me.

You put Snapdragon 780 in description that I got surprised so much only to get disappointed that it has Snapdragon 480.
SD480 itself ain't bad. It's comparable to a SD720g with 5g support. It's just the price and competition that makes the phone and chipset unjustifiable.

nokia phone is a good investment for me because its long lasting and consistent performance my nokia 6.1 still 90% performance in 3years playing while charging and the battery still good better than xiaomi, huawei and other chinese phone but sad to say i accidentally drop my nokia somewhere and someone pick it up and no intension to return my phone
