this genuinely might be one of the single most insightful conversations i've heard in years about the growth, shortcomings and future of womens football. need a Jennie, Tobin & CP23 preview of the upcoming WSL season. COYG forever
As an Arsenal women’s fan and now, a Bay FC fan, I loved hearing that Jen Beattie was coming to play for our team! Loved the conversation - you three are so funny together- and hopefully one day, I can get her to sign my Jen Beattie Bay FC jersey! Good to see Christen back on the field too! And BTW thank you to Jen for the awareness she is bringing to breast cancer screening.
Hello Tobin and Christen. I am not an Arsenal fan, but Jen Beattie's performances in the last UCL season she was in were enough to want her team to win whilst watching. A really good interview.
So happy y’all had the amazing Jen Beattie as a guest. Loved her insight and intelligent discussion of the women’s game in Europe and America. She is such an incredibly kind and benevolent human! Tobin I became a Gooner because of you and I stayed one after you left because of Jen, Beth and Viv. Forever grateful! COYG!
Kiera Knightly changing football for women, we love to see it 😂 Also Ronaldinho being Tobin's favorite football/soccer player makes so much sense. Her style is similar to his and when my dad first saw her play, he said she reminded him of Ronaldinho. He always had trouble saying her name, so he nicknamed her "Ronaldinha" 🥺 To this day, whenever he asks me what Tobin is doing, he always refers to her as Ronaldinha ☺
Thank you for continuing the safe space that The Rəcap Show demonstrates. Tobin and Christen, you have beautiful interviews, like this one. Inspiring, you all are. Much love from PA. ❤
I think the special thing with @alexmorgan is she was a champion of women in general not just sports, but women’s rights in general! She never bragged or did this for recognition or ego. Rather she did so much behind the scenes no one talks about and just so humble and the way she not only brought up issues, she brought resolution to the issue. And not only walked the walk but talked the talk (I mean the world knows she’s an incredible player, but she made sure to put the recognition, her face, her brand to bring change in respectful but impactful ways, to better women)
COYG!! Ok now that I got that out, I loved hearing more about Jen’s story and the special moments during her hard times, thank you for sharing. I absolutely loved her point about planning for the future when investing - a great example of this is KC’s stadium although great, I feel like they didn’t even plan for the present but rather the past NWSL numbers we are beyond 11,000, so it was disappointing that they didn’t even plan for the present let alone the future and limited the growth in their city for where the women’s game is. Hopefully they have plans in the immediate future to expand their stadium and hopefully all the teams watch this episode in their current and future plans in investing in these clubs. Great episode, always so meaningful!
Also agree this is one of the best interviews about women’s football ever. As a fan of both, loved the insight and comparisons between WSL and NWSL. All three mic’d up are true legends, inspirations, and game changers .
Absolutely loved the episode. Is everyone in women’s soccer incredible or do you all just choose the best guests? Loved Jen’s perspective on the different issues in football and the nwsl.
Fantastic podcast great conversation with Jen Beattie, as a Scotland fan she is a class act and a superb player and role model for women's football 🏴🙂
Another wonderful episode!!❤ I really loved the conversation and insight into investing for the team future- also, such an important point about having women's health as part of the team -- great guest!
Great show. Smart, insightful & downright FUN! So obvious you love & respect one another. Appreciate your generosity, sharing your knowledge, your dreams, yourselves.🧡 Bay-O!
soccer fan, women in sports fan, parent of two sporty daughters, breast cancer survivor - I embarrassingly didn't know about Jen until this interview. Such a great interview. Thank you for being brave to talk about women's health and early detection.
Best episode!! Luckiest gooner to live in the Bay have Beattie here now. Hopefully Jen will start her own pod here now. I was first getting nervous about lack of of USWNT players, but then all of sudden international signing after international signing got me more excited than national players because of getting the exposure of all the styles and cultures at our home field - and insane talent nonetheless.
This was a great listen. When they mentioned “future proof” I really was hoping one of them was going to bring up KC’s newly built stadium that’s capped at 11k seats. Seems like something that falls under the thought process of focusing on the “now” and not quite setting up themselves up for the future, imo. Again, great episode 👏🏼
I'll just copy what I wrote on US Soccer's tribute video to Alex on youtube_ "Thank you, Alex, for everything you've done for women's soccer. That said, if the uswnt doesn't celebrate/ acknowledge her retirement with a physical jersey, press chat, sending off party, etc, then I'll know something went wrong between the two." I know just it's just been a few days, but I still stand with what I said. Alex's impact was (and still is) huge. It sent ripple effects to the younger generation to fight for women's sports. And, of course, she played with the greats when she started out on the national team. Baby Horse, the pink headband, scoring quick and fantastic goals. The uswnt cannot let her go without any type of celebration. Please!!!
*On the women football awards: There is no transparency in the awarding of these FIFA Player of the Year and the French award called Ballon d'Or. The latter is an annual football award presented by French magazine France Football. The Ballon d'Or will never be given to a USA player because of the jelousy of French people of Americans. These are basically European awards for European players. They select players from the American continent just to show that they are impartial, but they are not going to give the awards to a noneuropean player. FIFA awarded Rapinoe the player of the year award back in 2019 for marketing purpose.*
CP should get her own show. She is smart, quick to pick up, always alert to nuance, asks thoughtful human questions. This interview with JB would have been very different if it were just CP speaking to her.
You see how Tobin’s eyes lit up when she thought Jen was going to say something negative about the type of football played here in the US compared to the WSL? 😂Tobin literally hates the NWSL. Arsenal turned her into a football snob. Maybe she should just go back to London and live her dream life.
I believe the first year was 2017 and first winner was Lieke Martens, who was the MVP of Eoro 2017. There is a fantastic video of her going yo the awards with Messi. Van, bus, helicopter and plane. Awesome vid.

When she joined Arsenal she said it was Thierry Henry?
She is the most Brazilian (Heath )player USA has ever produced. So sad she’s retired.
that's funny because apparently people used to call her tobinho bc of that haha, so he's not far off

Awesome! Kudnananji on Sam's channel, Jen here. Can't get enough of our Bay!

I took that last ACFC vs Wave game for granted. Who knew that that would be the last time that we would see Alex and CP23 on the same pitch :'(
Absolutely loved this episode!! I’m a huge Jen Beatie fan and Arsenal!! Keep up the good work ladies!! 🔴⚪️

You never look at the comments . Why?
Who knows who actually runs the Re INC account though.

Is KCFC future-proofed? Can that stadium grow?
