thanks for yet another chit-chat and Q & A session, LD and Mrs. LD. always interesting to hear the other side of the story, and how all this was seen through the eyes of the spouse, and how they managed it all.
Mrs. LD: so, RE posting to Canada, and unless the process has changed, it goes something like this: when you ship something to Canada, you will have to fill out some type of declaration, stating what it is and the value it is. once it gets to canada customs, if canada customs pulls your item out for 'further inspection', they may assess a duty tax on it, based on the value you stated on your declaration. they will affix an invoice to it, and move it on to canada post. when it hits the letter carrier, the letter carrier will take your package out for delivery, and then the recipient is presented with the package AND the invoice, and only after the recipient pays the invoice will the package be given over. these customs notices were very rare back in the day, but towards the end of my career, 2019, more and more canada-bound packages were being pulled aside and duty taxes applied. and it is just not the duty tax that is applied, but there are fees for this and that (READ: money grab) applied as well. so, i would go bare minimum on the value of goods you declare on that declaration. here is how messed up this can get: back in the day, i had one of these duty-taxed packages to deliver to one of the people on my walk. the declaration stated birthday present. i can't remember the description of the item, nor the declared value, but it was something small (letter carriers are not obliged to carry anything larger than 2 lbs, or the size of a city-sized phone book, for perspective...canada post drivers deliver packages over those limits). anyway, the duty and fees i was to ask the recipient to pay for his birthday present was in the order of $75.00. needless to say, i was embarrassed to ask the recipient, as i knew i was delivering his birthday present. so, i got to the door, and to no surprise, the recipient was feeling as awkward as i was. he said to me that he has no idea what was in the package, and was, rightly-so, kind of miffed that he had to pay $75 to get his gift. i suggested he contact the sender, explain the $75 duty fee, and ask if he should pay it. how terrible a situation to be in. he took my advice, and i left him a delivery notice card, to buy him two weeks of time to sort it out, as any unclaimed parcel, if not claimed after two weeks of an attempted delivery, the item will be returned to sender. i have no idea how things turned out, but canada post is invoicing duty on more and more things, in an attempt to generate more passive income. ok, that was kind of long Mrs. LD, and i hope this gives you some clarity.

LOL - sounds kinda like what happened to me & my husband. We were apart for about 7 years (divorced then remarried). In the later years, I had a tendency to act like he used to, and he became a lot more serious, like I was when younger.

Some tough questions, too. I appreciate that you guys are realistically looking at things, but not living too far ahead. I really appreciate that you're living in the moment. I believe in energy, and the power of positive momentum. I know that we can't change certain things, but I believe that time frames at less relevant in terms of prognosis when we work hard at our health, lower stress levels, and live in a positive head space. When I was not only not supposed to survive, but also was not supposed to walk again, no one in my family shared that info with me. And thank God they didn't, bc I couldn't be told no and I was up and literally running within 6 months. Keep on trucking!!!

One thing I got a bit frustrated is the cost of getting the medications, I earn a decent living but without insurance and government subsidies I would end up in the red in no time, total medications in real cost is about $1k a month without any subsidies, had to reapply constantly and the process is quite slow and long so by the time they can look at my case the original medical letters have expired and they would only give me about 1-2 months as an exception, so I need to re get the letters, this time I’m trying to get the letter which is for 12 months instead of 6 months, and the long wait to speak to someone from those departments, sometimes I would spend days on waiting to speak to someone to explain my situation since the left hand does not speak to the right hand
I completely understand what you mean. Just the xifaxxin alone is like 1400 bucks a month. It's not easy affording these medications. I hope that everything works out for you my friend. God bless😊😊😊
When I watched the video where you mentioned you just stayed over night at the restaurant so you could do inventory in the morning because you were so drunk that would have really upset me so I wondered if this affected your wife emotionally dealing with that because I would have been a mess upset depression ect

Laying those emotions out is admirable. I know isolation sucks for the person with alcohol problems. My last relationship was with another alcoholic. It was horrible on both sides. I know she probably should have left you because that's like the number one advice that is told to someone who is with an addict. But. The fact that she didn't leave makes y'all's story very unique. I'm a person with abandonment and trust issues and nobody stuck around I just think this is an interesting situation. I think it speaks a lot to both y'all's characters meaning LDs heart and obviously he's a great guy and the wife's dedication, intelligence and independence to say a few things it's just a really different outlook that is so fn awesome y'all still together. ❤.
