Did she keep how bad it truly was to herself?

Thank you very much for your honesty. I need to remember to think of myself too, and be ready to make hard decisions if necessary.
I'll tell a little bit about our life: my partner has been able to cut down his drinking significantly, but the disease is still there and it takes effort to keep it at bay. Sometimes I feel like I do most of the work and it's frustrating, but I think he is worth it.

I completely understand. At the end of the day, my wife stick through it for me and I don't know what I would have done without her. Honestly.... I would be dead by now. She had fought so hard for me... when no one else would anymore. Only you know what's right for you and your husband at the end of the day and I wish you both the best of luck. I know that you really do love him, from what you have said in all of your comments. You are such an awesome human being to continue to stick through it and push forward... that is the true definition of unconditional love. Thank you so much for being here! God bless😊😊😊❤❤❤

Thank you both for the great video! You both radiate great human qualities and character. I much admire you both. A question for Mrs. LD: What are you doing or going to do to help steer your kids away from substance abuse in general and alcoholism in particular? Related to that: Are you fearful your kid(s) will go down their dad's path, especially since there is a genetic component to alcoholism? Thanks in advance and wishing you well! 🙏🙂❤

This is so true. I was actually talking to my sister about just this a few weeks ago. I was joking about how resistant I once was to the idea of something like AA, and now here I am, totally embracing what is essentially an ongoing, daily AA meeting. But the delivery I think is what's so alluring and energizing about it!

I had the smell, people describes it as garlic, with sweet and sour rotting chicken bones. Emitting from my insides piercing through my pasty mouth smell from over brushed teath. And I could not smell it because I was spraying cologne on my body so much 👀 I look back now that I’m sober and now I’m just happy to be here, not there. Drinking Alcohol is not a feeling, it’s a destination ,

Hey LD and Mrs. LD, hope you had a great day. I’m really enjoying these sessions, it’s therapeutic to talk about things. I appreciate your honesty and your time. LD you’re doing great work! I understand resentment and pain but I can see the love and loyalty. That’s what love is, sacrifice and compromise. When Mrs LD said I wanted to leave every day but then tomorrow came and you try again. That’s a powerful statement and the main reason why your relationship has held on IMO. Hey LD and everyone in this youtube fam!! This week has been torture bc I broke my phone screen and had to wait for the part to come in. Because of Ede this week, the store closed and they didn't receive the part and had to reorder it. It just came today. I've been watching all the videos and they've been awesome as usual. But I couldn't comment! I had to watch on my Nintendo switch and had so much to say, but couldn't. 😅 I didn't get to watch the live, but I plan on getting caught up there in the next few days. I love these videos with your wife. She sounds SO nice. I just wanted to share my opinion from last week, her southern "drawl" is noticeable, but not as heavy as I think she worries it is! I think it sounds nice. Like someone who could tell a super engaging story. Also, I can hear the strain your relationship has felt, but I can feel your love for one another as you talk and I applaud your commitment to each other since LD got sober. Resentment is so understandable and I hope that you get to build so many joyful, happy memories that it helps to soften those feelings down the road. Sending all my best wishes to you both and your family.
I think as well that most of us who quit can testify to the statement that we only quit our vices when we're ready. No one else can do it for us. Love you all!! ❤

  • @0rtmasta
    @0rtmasta 5 месяцев назад +5

Hopefully you will reflect on some things. Your wife has carried a huge burden for many years. A burden of worry and concern for your wellbeing, the families. She was a mother not only to children but also to you.
You dealt with your demons in the most selfish of ways. Hiding, concealing being emotionally unavailable. None of that was her doing.
My sincere hope is that you will come to reflect on that, to address and sincerely appreciate all she did and has done to support you.
She has loved you, she has been your absolute bedrock. Hats off to her. Three cheers for LD’s awesome wife!
To be clear I support you too, don’t take this as a negative comment however part of the process of healing is to take account and accountability, to address and acknowledge. It’s not about beating ourselves up or feeling bad. You did that every day for years.

It’s a very unique smell and can vary depending on the person with liver disease and the amount of toxins being released. And don’t forget the pancreas is involved with this disease. Best I can describe is a foul sour musty and sometimes even bleach like smell. It’s awful and will get your attention.

I had a family member who suffered from end state liver disease. At that point the body let’s off a fish smell that comes from their breath. I’m not sure if that is what others have experienced. I think it has something to do with…sulfur substances that end up in your blood stream and make it to the lungs.

Hope you're still doing well and thank you for all that you do regarding this topic! It means more than you know!

I had hep c for a few years but was cured after my treatment in 2018. I try to limit my alcohol consumption to only on the weekends, but sometimes I’ve partied too hard and received concerning liver tests that showed super elevated enzymes. Your videos are real, and make me want to be EXTRA cautious. How old are you? Thanks for your videos!!

There is alcoholism on both sides of the family, so we didn't have alcohol in our house while I was married. I still don't, because I don't want my daughter to think it is helpful in any way to have alcohol as a part of her life. I have always told her what went on with our family and me. Even though I made that decision, and stuck to it - partially because of the above, and partially because my own liver is shot from Hep B and alcohol before Jesus Christ became my God and He showed me who actually owns me, my daughter ended up with an addictive personality, and she got hooked on meth and alcohol. She still isn't right in the head and has wrecked her health in many of the ways that are a problem for you. I don't know if she is still doing that stuff because she lives in another state, and she doesn't share a lot about her life with me. So long story short, please don't keep alcohol in your house, and don't drink it. It only brings misery. I love her, and I would have spared her the heart break if I could have. At least I didn't lead her in that way by proximity to the stuff, or example. Many prayers for you brother. I pray for your continued sobriety, and your health. I pray for your wife and marriage, and your kids. Thank you for sharing yourself like this.

In regards to the person asking about her boyfriend.... if it seems harsh for someone to say "you need to leave".... It's hard for people to understand that simply being in a relationship with an addict is one of those "actions speek louder than words" things, you are basically supporting their actions by your own actions of being there and not leaving. It's pretty difficult for addicts and alcoholics to continue with their routine without another person in their life doing all of the chores that they don't do. Hard to be an addict and keep up with bills and erronds, cooking, laundry, cleaning. The most loving thing you can do to encourage them to stop is leave and let them know clearly what the reason is. They will remember that, and it will help them realize later on what they can't have if they choose to continue with their habit.

Hey Kristen! I remember that when my friends and I used to go camping, we'd drink all night and then have a "hair of the dog" whiskey shot (or 2) in the morning to fight off our raging hangovers. Some chose a bloody Mary or a tequila sunrise as theirs. It did work to stave off the initial ick, but I also feel like it wiped me out lol
In retrospect, my worst mornings now I think are still better than my best mornings like that 😅

You touched on it on Sunday & it’s really important. Could you speak about Al anon?Even if someone breaks up with an alcoholic they often times need help/therapy, especially if they grew up in an alcoholic family. It’s a free, alternative on going group therapy type of support. It helps family members who have to deal with it on a daily basis. It can also help single people who don’t want to become enmeshed with an alcoholic in the future.

The smell you refer to is typically related to hyperglycemia. Not always but it’s not uncommon.
