- October 17, 2004 (NLCS Game 4) - St. Louis Cardinals' pitcher Julián Tavárez comes in for relief. He gives up the go-ahead run on a Carlos Beltrán home run and then nearly takes Jeff Bagwell's head off, a pitch that would cost Tavárez $10,000 after being fined by the commissioner's office. After escaping a bases-loaded jam, Tavárez breaks his hand when he punches the bullpen phone.
Julian Taverez worked out with my kid in Cleveland a few weeks ago. Great guy
Favorite pitcher of all time. I was in elementary when he played in Cleveland. I first remember when he slammed the umpire. I loved baseball fights. All of us kids would come running to watch as soon as someone got hit.
He's ugly though
@@davruck1 you consider this animal your "favorite pitcher".... Low standards much?
@@Theodore81547 get back to sharing your sister with your father. Shut up
El muñeco muy sencillo y buena persona
Beltran homers on a pitch at his ankles. He was unbelievable that postseason
On a pretty funky swing too. The way it comes around the back half. But still went down and got it. Great piece of hitting and power display. He was on a tear.
If you’re Taveras, you can’t even get mad at that. That’s where you want that pitch located. Beltran golfed it out of the park, which is nearly impossible.
Been looking for this for a while. Nice touch with the fade into insanity lol
Appreciate it, thanks!
That pitch to beltran was nice, all credits to beltran.
He recovered nicely. Respect.
22 year old rookie Yadier Molina behind the plate!
That’s why this happened
I'm new to this channel. Gotta say I'm loving this shit. The music coming in and out is pretty trippy as I've found this in a deep stoned RUclips rabbitt hole and am most pleased. A tip of the hat to be sure.
Haha glad you enjoyed it!
Larussa trusted in Julian, never took him out of the game in that inning
Not that bad. He survived
Barely
Luck and a great catcher. That’s the only reason he did. That ball gets past, another run scores, the double play is off the table, and you got two runners in scoring position? After how he got there? He’d have been doomed.
I remember watching this game. Great series
I need vids from this era to explain to my kids that the Astros didn’t always need to cheat to get an edge.
This is LITERALLY the greatest NLCS of all time. Glad the good guys won in the end.
I'd still put 1986 and 1999 over this series, but I agree that it was amazing nonetheless. The AL variant from this year wasn't too shabby, either. :)
Which was figuratively the best?
@@mariopalos9238 2011 thank you for asking
The ending is me when someone eats the last edged brownie 🤨
Random thought, but did that ball actually hit Bagwell? He just kinda walked to first without the umpires signaling a HBP...
Almost hit him but it was ball 4 either way.

Tavarez was one of those guys who sometimes just couldn't get a hold of his emotions and
Today I learned I have multiple meltdowns on a daily basis..
NL Astros were so much better
They were such a different team. I really enjoyed watching them and always rooted for them. Beltran, Lidge, Biggio, Bagwell, Burke, Clemens, Andy, Oswalt, etc. It's a shame on what the Astros are today. A disgrace. Those POS Altuve, Correa, Bregman all an embarrassment to Biggio, Bagwell, and Berkman
@@greatestnitemare6626 well they seem to be playing fine right now.
@@greatestnitemare6626 Altuve isn't the one who was part of the cheating scheme. The other hitters were in 2017.
Astros never won a WS in the NL.
AL: 3 pennants 1 WS
NL: 1 pennant
@@greatestnitemare6626 let me guess the Astros eliminated your team in the playoffs and now you’re mad because you think the cheating is the reason your team lost to them
Buen lanzamiento, todo el crédito a Beltrán
Do you have the full game of this? And I wish we had the audio to the end of the video
I removed the audio because they stopped talking about Tavárez. I seem to remember the FOX broadcast talking about him but I can't find that particular broadcast. The full video is on Facebook: facebook.com/watch/?v=690484391839398
@@baseballcinema I liked the slow change to the music. Very dramatic as was the game. I mean, with as bad as his pitching game was going, what can anyone say?
Can't be hard on Tavares here. That's not supposed to be hittable! 😂
How did Beltran hit that 😮
It happens
So glad the Giants got rid of him before he became a Cardinal
Salió debajo de una patana
Astros belong in national league...
Are these the Astros announcers? Or are they Fox announcers?
Astros
@@baseballcinema Alright, that makes more sense now. I couldn't believe that national TV would be so bias, but now I understand! Thanks for the response!
@@baseballcinema Also, is the "insanity" music by Dr. Jeffery Thompson by any chance?
Sorry for the late reply! The music is by Michael R.T. and is from this album: michaelrtmusic.bandcamp.com/album/clean-generation
He literally throws one bad pitch and they're ready to hang him right there LMFAO
