Hi Guys - a very good and fair report on the new F. I have had two SVRs and the first, 2016, was by far the best. Loud, brash, exhilarating and fun, fun, fun. My latest SVR is a 2019 model, post European legislation which has taken the soul away from this car. The seats in my latest car are cooled and heated but they are no way as good as the first generation seats, which were heated only. There was far more adjustment and they really heated your butt, unlike the 2019 model which is only lukewarm. All said it still brings a smile to my face. We have only had roadsters and, for me, you have to have the big SVR spoiler to finish the back end. I’ve always had Carbon Ceramics, just so I could have the wheels, but once you’ve had carbons, there’s nothing like them. Just contemplating a Portafino M, or a 911 Turbo S as a replacement, although I just think I’ll keep my beloved F what ever I decide.
It’s not. VTEC changes the engine’s cam profile at certain RPMs so the engine remains efficient and continues developing power at both lower and higher RPMs. The sound you’re hearing here is a valve within the exhaust system opening at 3,5000 to allow more sound to escape.
@Trevanthony22 R :Yeah; that's me! Have we met? PS - Sorry that my comprehensive understanding of automotive technology has embarrassed you; but you can learn too! :-)
You don't need to do anything fancy at all to fix the exhaust. Just get under the muffler, remove the two vacuum lines and then crimp them or plug them. This will get the car to crackle and pop below 3500 RPMs (especially in 1st and 2nd) and will keep it sounding incredible all the way through. And NO drone. (2020 Type-R owner here)
Top down in Canadian cold wearing heavy jackets. That’s how you do it! I remember a convertible BMW that they reviewed as it was actually snowing! It was dope!

I have a 2017 F-Type R coupe and its an absolute monster. I test drove the new F-Type R a few months ago and it feels so much less visceral and aggressive compared to the previous model years. And the exhaust note is so much more tame.
I drove one. Only people who have never driven a true sports car like a Porsche would think this is a great sports car. It's bloated, it lacks feel and doesn't have precision handling. There's a lot more to a great sports car, than a loud exhaust.
Thanks for taking time and effort to make this good upload in cold weather conditions. I see the warm clothing you are wearing. Great convertible, nice specs and aerodynamics.
I loved the sound of the f type v6S. I think that the p575 having the silenced exhaust has gotten closer to the perfect V6S sound. The new exhaust is why Im actually considering the new p575 now

Audi and VW have been doing the pops on the upshifts for ages with the DSG-equipped and S/RS cars. My 2013 DSG Audi A7 V6 does it. Basically it cuts the spark between shifts but continues injecting fuel which passes through the engine unburnt then ignites when it hits the hot exhaust. Edit: it doesn’t do it all the time for those who think it’s annoying. You have to be above a certain RPM and throttle position.
