He knows its all fake and will end in tears as he asked me not to tell anyone, he didnt want anyone else to know he was living paycheck to paycheck with a Porsche in his driveway. This is common too as i got told of a McLaren 720 owner i know needed to tap his dad and brother to take his wife and daughter on a 3day trip to IOM.
The older i've gotten the more I realize you dont need ludacris amounts of power. Unless you use a truck or a van for work. No one needs more than 200 hp, and thats on the high end. Especially if you just use it to commute, and run errands. Note i've owned fast, and powerful cars they are just a waste of money, they cost more to insure, and maintain.
This is why I love my Lucid Air, with its long comfortable range. No need to charge to 100% or run it down to zero before charging. On a recent 1,600 mile trip i averaged 3.4m/kw. for a reasonable 380 miles at 80mph driving.
Good to see car wow getting early access. Unbiased review with no click bait or gotchas. Tesla seems to address all the rattles this time, hoping I don't have to take apart the car again.😅
They should have a timer. Once it's almost dead just cut power 50% ,limit speed to 35mph( so people don't kill themselves) and start a 3 minute countdown, that's gonna at least prepare drivers for the complete shutdown . They can pull over in the last 5 seconds, or hurry up to a charger.
Both do have unique looks. It's all based on personal taste I suppose. I've seen the EQS at a Target and a Saltgrass and I saw the i7 on the freeway and at At Home. The i7 gets my vote because it's a bold look and you can point it out as a BMW from anywhere. I also own an M550i and really enjoy BMW performance, design language, and the features.
Both over 300 miles of (motorway) range. Quite decent and usable. Somehow the EQS does not look great on images or videos but I like it in real life. It is a serious piece of kit.
Yes that’s exactly what I thought about the EQS. It has much more presence in real life, which is weird because on photos or in videos it looks like a basic car. I really like what Mercedes did to the EQS and I really don’t like the hate that it gets from many people. Most of them haven’t even seen an EQS in reallife.
@@jessebeekmans0908 I've seen quite a few in real life and every time I almost walked right past it. It's alright-looking but has absolutely no presence.
I have a Tesla and will only get close to the claimed range if I don’t run the AC at all. I have never had a problem with the car, never been in danger of running out of juice, but it’s true that EV claimed ranged need to be taken with a small grain of salt. 300miles on one charge is pretty decent though for a car with kind of power plant. I love my EV and will def buy another but I am the first to say they are not for everyone though.
Electric vehicles still have a long way to go, 303 miles isn't great, I can do more than that in my old 2004 toyota ist, my suzuki dr650 with a 25 liter tank can do about 310 miles too, and neither will lose range as they age either.
I actually prefer the EQS53's design. I've only been in the BMW 740i, no electric versions in Nigeria yet. While I agree the BMW has presence and looks better in person, I like the EQS more. I'll also pick the interior of the EQS53 over the BMW i7.
Yes, that's funny. Over 50 years ago, a stand-up comedian in my country emigrated to Germany because "we" did not think he was funny. "There" he was experienced as very funny and when he died he almost got a state funeral. So, now let's go to Germany, where these two are driving these cars. In the ICE alternative for these cars, on the German motorway ("Autobahn"), their drivers would be on the left-most lane only, drive 250 km/h as long as possible, blink their high beam lights when a slower car is in their way, slow down when there is a speed limit (e.g imposed to suppress noise towards a domestic area near that road), and as soon as the limit is lifted accelerate again. They might have removed the 250 km/h limit one way or another and chances are they want to race another car in their league. As these cars are expensive relative to modal, the drivers think they "own" the road and everybody has to move to the slower lane for them. It's the German form of "polite" that feels very aggressive when you did not grow up in that. E.g. in the wider "Ruhr" (river) area, there is a lot of wealth and you'll frequently be blinked by drivers of supercars trying to do 300 km/h or so. One of the airports in the Ruhr region, decades ago, had to modify the setup of their Air Traffic Control (ATC) radar system for low flying aircraft (like helicopters) because every time these supercars drove by, they popped up as a helicopter or so, in the ATC system and ATC agents tried to contact that thing. To no effect. Because the German motorways are rather crowded, have maintenance works that reduce the numbers of cars that can pas a section per minute, there are traffic jams frequently. Travel from, say, Hamburg (DE) to the Basel (CH) border - about 800 km - and you would be slowed down by some 20 road maintenance stretches, some of which come in clusters. Whatever speed your car can do, you will end up nearer Google Maps's assumption of 8 hours for the trip that probably applies the "German advised maximum speed of 130 km/h" than a lot faster. (Google should give me an option to set the maximum speed I want to drive, where allowed.) Experience with the AMG badge leads me to assuming the driver goes about as fast (aggressive in another culture) as possible, accelerates and slows down maybe every minute, and when possible tries to race another "fast" car. In the beginning of the video, the Wh/km of the AMG is some 3.6 times as bad as a Tesla on a hard day - both in an English polite driving style. There are lots of exceptions to this prejudice, though, where people peacefully drive these cars in a modal mode. It's a bit like trying to get as fast as possible as far as possible with a Bugatti Veyron. That at 400 km/h burns through its tank of fossil fuel in 12 minutes (= 80km/100 litres = 80km/1000 kWh = 12.5 kWh/km as 1 litre equals 10 kWh). Imagine you started with new tyres. So you fill the tank again and start your next stretch at 400 km/h. You cannot complete the 12 minutes because your tyres are wasted after 20 minutes at that speed.
I think in the current situation that electric cars are more practical for city driving and day trips, for longer distances it still makes more sense to have an ice
I really want to see someone do a review of an electric car in town on the school run, then to work then back to get the kids. Then to football training, ballet, swimming and all the rest ha ha. That’s a true test…
Meanwhile both my diesel BMW and Audi convertibles will do 600 miles even at zero degrees so no range anxiety, somehow I think EVs are not quite developed yet but hey they've only been around for 120 years so probably need a little bit more time
As a taxidriver for me the main thing I like is the adaptive cruise controll. That makes the Drive so much more relaxed en comfortable. I would never turn that one off. Lane assistent on the other hand really sucks.....😂
Range really isnt an issue with good EVs any more. My mixed driving mileage on my Ioniq 5 is easily between 280-310 in the summer and, unless youre road tripping, this means only really charging once a fortnight. But even if road tripping its just not a headache anymore. Did North Yorkshire to Lizard Point, Cornwall last week! Mostly motorway at 70mph. Stopped twice - once for 18 minutes, once for 10. Both times we ate food and took longer doing so than charging the car (I moved the car at 80% charge both times, so as not to hog the charger). Absolutely no inconvenience whatsoever. 489 miles. Piece of piss.

My mate has a spanking new base model 911 and was tapping me money for his wine for the fishing trip we done.

BMW and Mercedes owners 🤡
There's nothing like best ELECTRIC CAR, i wonder how driving will be without engine note exhaust roars. end of world is coming surely.
I run my i7 in Efficiency mode always and consistently get 340 to 370 miles down to 10% charge.
Merc s class and bmw 7 series is only way to go
That i7 looks really nice wow
Yep. But still 6.5/10 for me.
That merc must be light speed fast, one minute you’re driving in the uk and the next it’s in a desert then back to the uk 😂
The Mercedes is like a rocketship, Alison B. 👍
Yea you both can cry 😂
The practicality of the rear hatch and fold down seats make me pick the EQS over anything else.
After he is done explaining the rules, he proceeds to break them.. great way for fair results lol
The back of the i7 reminds me of a opel (vauxhall) omega after the facelift. But its really nice! The i7 looks way better than the merc
Clean your eyes
I’d buy the 7 all day long over the Jelly Bean.
As a chauffeur, I would too, due to the proper limousine rear head room. (although I'd regret not having the wonderful boot space of the EQS)
Mat you should do this challenge with yianni and make fun 😂 like old top gear or grandtour
Matt with Nissan LEAF and Yianni with 2009 Toyota Prius.
Yianni wouldn’t do it he needs his beauty sleep 👍🏻🏴
But they can't fuck around the cars like Top gear or GT.
I need to see this with a Model S. Similar features, but more range and more performance.
Model S is lighter as it has way less kit and is way less luxurious. Adding luxury also adds weight and affects range.
Love the fact Hans Zimmer did the sounds on the BMW 😂 did the music for some incredible movie including my favourite, The Dark Knight 🔥👌🏽
This is why I love my Lucid Air, with its long comfortable range. No need to charge to 100% or run it down to zero before charging. On a recent 1,600 mile trip i averaged 3.4m/kw. for a reasonable 380 miles at 80mph driving.
That screen in the BMW back seats is insane. So much for just looking out the window
The rear screen of the BMW looked like from Daihatsu OFC-1 2007 Model.
Only £27,000 🤣
Probably you are rapper 😂, what an ugly style with metre screen. Oo yes, you can watch your serries 😂😂
28:09 he is going to make it.
EQS has such a unique look in person. I7 isn’t nearly as bad in person either
I7 and EQS are 8.1/10.
Both are uniquely hideous, but the EQS was designed by a blind person.
The EQS looks like a Honda Civic of old.
i7 despite it's polarizing design has incredible road presence. EQS on the other hand looks weak and silly.
I think they both look absolutely gopping with the BMW taking the top place in the Puke inducing index!
All nice and beautiful, but I'm sticking with my I.C.E., we should all enjoy the sound while it lasts 😢!
All the best to everyone!
Who wants to see these series continuing with petrol cars🤩⁉️🔥👍
The bmw i7 m70 which will come to uk soon has 810hp and 1050nm and weighs 2.4tones so it will properly beat the mercedes eqs
Love these documentary type vids
@@jessebeekmans0908 it is as amazing as these cars actually are.
@Yvon Q. still better than bmw
@Yvon Q. all are better than your garbage motor works
“I’m going to drive these cars non stop” 6 mins into the video “we have stopped for a comfort break”….. make it make sense
Car Wow: let’s compare the range on these.
Matt: Let’s floor it!
LMFAO 🤣
I’m really digging the i7 especially that rear seat setup! Epic! But these prices are just atrocious
A 760Li cost even more here than the i7 m60.
I like the bmw looks the most but i don't understand how they can overstate the range that much
Idk but I think Matt needs to floor the EQS a little harder during the range test
Electric vehicles still have a long way to go, 303 miles isn't great, I can do more than that in my old 2004 toyota ist, my suzuki dr650 with a 25 liter tank can do about 310 miles too, and neither will lose range as they age either.
Would be nice if the lucid air was also in this range test
I saw one today I'm sure it gets more but not sure what percentage of their claimed ranged.
I actually prefer the EQS53's design. I've only been in the BMW 740i, no electric versions in Nigeria yet. While I agree the BMW has presence and looks better in person, I like the EQS more. I'll also pick the interior of the EQS53 over the BMW i7.
I absolutely always drive in the motorway doing pulls in sport+ mode 😂
(Google should give me an option to set the maximum speed I want to drive, where allowed.)
Experience with the AMG badge leads me to assuming the driver goes about as fast (aggressive in another culture) as possible, accelerates and slows down maybe every minute, and when possible tries to race another "fast" car.
If this is what electric cars are going to look like in the future, I want no part in it.
You can’t afford one 😢
@@jeremybarfour-awuah4179 And the ICE vehicles are going to similar path too.
@@jeremybarfour-awuah4179 interesting, how do you know what I can and can’t afford?
I would love to see this challenge done with petrol/diesel cars. What happens in when combustion engines hit 0 range?
They stop running. No fuel to ignite = no combustion.
Then they start flying
They hit the end of their range at nearly 2x the range of EVs
They too drive for many miles. Watch the top gear episode on it
No one in their right mind would ever do that or never need to do that.
Meanwhile both my diesel BMW and Audi convertibles will do 600 miles even at zero degrees so no range anxiety, somehow I think EVs are not quite developed yet but hey they've only been around for 120 years so probably need a little bit more time
You will make it Matt BMW has you at it's best interest
Seeing the Mercedes and BMW together actually makes me appreciate the beauty of the BMW 😊
Is that..a rev counter on the EQS?..can't see the £170k tho
True
The AMG has over 200hp more, so ofc it won’t drive as Long. It is also way quicker than the i7. He did also floor the AMG several times
Cope
I think the EQS looks great - one of the best looking mercs of this century imo. That bmw has creases and notches for the sake of it
seems like BMW not only like to lie about horsepower, but also the range on dash🤣
As a taxidriver for me the main thing I like is the adaptive cruise controll. That makes the Drive so much more relaxed en comfortable. I would never turn that one off. Lane assistent on the other hand really sucks.....😂
Awesome 😎 video thanks Matt
U'll Make it
Range really isnt an issue with good EVs any more.
I've just bought a 40+ year old American V8.
No road tax, no MOT and cheap insurance.
It's the future.
Funny seeing the Tesla supercharger stations behind the two cars!😊
Hi Matt cool vidios keep it up
Been waiting for this test a long time. Thank you Carwow 🎉
Back of the i7 looks like an old Alfa Romeo 159 😂
U May Day dreaming
I wont ever buy an EV or hybrid, but this is fun to watch
