We bought a 17 R a couple months ago, and it puts a smile on our faces every time we take it out. It’s worth every penny when you decide to pull the trigger.
Lets face it, if we had the money we'd all want to emulate Jay Leno. Why leave the money in the bank... he's enjoying his money while he's alive & its also an investment. I doubt he'd lose an money if he had to sell any of his cars, in fact any car that has him as part of the provenance would probably be worth more. Good luck to him.👍🏻
If we had the money, we would for sure get a couple of modern super cars and a couple of classics. But to collect 100-200 cars, it's not just enough to have the money and interest, but also be a bit 'nuts', in addition to have the time to actually appreciate all the cars. But it's great that someone saves the cars from the museums, and the junk yards, and actually use them.
I’m so happy I finally bought my F Type dream car in 2017 brand new with the works! I have the V8 R Sport in a beautiful metallic grey with the interior a burnt orange color. I’ve had it 2 years and love it and still excited to drive it! It’s a fantastic car and it always gets compliments no matter where I go. In 2 yrs I still have not seen another one on the road. It’s fantastic 👍🏻♥️
I'm in the market for a pre-owned sports car (manual transmission, quick, fast, turns, stops, and looks good) - the f-type is on my list along with Porsche 911. I'm concerned with reliability and the potential for continual expensive repairs. How expensive has yours been to own? Thanks
I had the good fortune to visit Leno's garage with several pals last year. First rate operation is an understatement. Re comments about a coupe J model, visit the LA Car Show this week. A coupe with debut. I have a blacked out 2013 XKRS, I can't imagine the torque in the 7 model which is much lighter. To the Leno haters, deal with your insecurities in private. Jay is truly doing those of us motor heads a great favor by living our dreams through his show. Jag is back 100%. Tata has taken the disaster called Ford Motor Company/Jag and restored the marque to it's current levels of excellence! Thanks Jay! Thanks Tata for the XKRS thrill!
I had an 2003 XK8, nice car. Big v8 4.2L engine. Easy to drive but not very ‘sporty’, more of a cruiser/tourer (although the back seats were practically redundant). After 6 months with an XE have just put money down on a F-Type to ‘put some fun’ back into driving...
The V8S is the best sports car ever built, and nothing else comes close. With R888Rs, a $1000 tune, and a $500 crank pully, 694HP and 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. The sound is so uproarious, and the RWD version is so light and outragiously fast, you can never drive another car again.
I bought my first Jaguar last month, the XE-R and I am in love with Jaguar now. They really can't put a foot wrong with their current crop. The F-Type is gorgeous and sounds amazing. I used to drive a Mercedes - what was I thinking?!
***** Noone buys a modern Jaguar because theyre owned by Tata.. People buy them because they're good cars, irregardless of where the companies investment comes from..
***** Back in the 80s and 90s Jaguar was owned by Ford and the rest of the British Leyland's marques had been sold off. British Leyland, which I think you're referring to, was an unwieldy, nationalised monstrosity, with at one point had 48 factories around the UK, existed between 1968 and 1986. It was broken up and sold off in '86 , many of the pieces were bought up by foreign car companies. But don't think the likes of BMW and Ford manged to do any better, they ended up selling their British marques in the end to.
First time I saw this car was from this video. Fell in love with this car so much that I got an SVR. Already put in a little over 12k miles in the first year of ownership
I love Jay and his banter. Sometime it is annoying when he jokes around with the designers and engineers of a car and they just seem to stick to a script. I understand they are representing the company, but I just wish they'd have loosened up a bit and shot the breeze with him. I love it when the manufacturer reps do that.
I’ve owned this exact car (year and options, not sure if it’s THE car in the video) for the last 4 years. The 7Y/100K factory warranty timed out, unused. It is hellaciously fast, plus now has the standard issue two pulley 700HP tune. I took delivery on my 2016 F-Type R AWD a few months ago. The sound system is underwhelming, the infotainment is dated, but good luck wiping the permagrin off my face w/ the performance and intoxicating exhaust note. I'm having a field day with all the C8 Corvettes on the road here.
Just bought a 2016 as well, only 30,900 KM on it, it's the F-Type S with the 6 cylinder making 380 HP. Personally that's plenty of power for me. It's a coupe, I've heard the exhaust may even be better than the V8 version, but I can't say 100%. Doesn't matter, the car is amazing, had the option of looking at a V8 for a similar price point, but it had more miles and didn't look as well kept.
What I like most about Jay Leno is how much he sticks to his manual transmission "guns". He knows how much that method of driving connects the driver to the car.
I'll get this over a GTR all day any day, I actually like the F-Type Coupe more than the convertible, GTR's got ugly interiors, if you're spending 100k at least get something that's beautiful all around, not just for 0-60.
I'm going to treat myself to one of these for my birthday next year. 12 months to salivate over it! There isn't a car out there that looks as beautiful as the F type in my book.
I got a hot lap in one of these at Watkins Glen last year when Jag was the featured marque for the 2018 Vintage Races. What a fantastic car. 160 MPH down the Main straight without batting an eye.
I think that I could squeeze this thing in next to my E Type, but my wife said we don't have room in the Jaguar section of our garage for another one. There is only one Jay. These videos are the best.

Demographically it's proven that we're getting taller ( and larger ) so Why is it that the Italians, who are less likely to be tall than the British, are adjusting to the times and the Brits are missing the boat? Jay Leno's Garage should be turned into a TV show on the Discovery channel. It has become my go-to source for driver reviews of the latest automotive technologies. The F-type Jag is pretty cool, too.
Wow. "We wanted to make the car simpler and more driver oriented with less distractions. So we have a driver vent that pops out of the dashboard, touchscreen menus to do everything and controls with multiple functions."
+HunterShows Yeah, not to mention 1000 susepsion settings, 5000 drivers modes, ESP, other electronic shizzle and what more! HAHAHAHA those idiot nerds who design cars these days have so much sense of humor! They have no idea what passion is, these days. Cars like these are just pure fake. No inituitive feel to it.
Yeah, they do that with cameras, too. "This is simpler!" "No, it's not, make a dial and a switch to do everything immediate, *that's* simpler. To be fair, I've actually seen people mentally short out about my aging DSLR, "That looks so complicated!" "No it isn't, this dial does this, this dial does this, this button does this, it's when engineers get *rid* of buttons that everything turns into Iphone-looking menus and displays and stuff you gotta peer at every damn time."
The real problem is not being discussed here: Why do car makers keep giving us convertibles with black interiors? THEY SUCK! In the summer they attract heat like a magnet roasting your ass like sitting in a frying pan, especially after they have been sitting in the parking lot. Wearing shorts? OUCH! A nice tan or brown shade will match about any outside paint--but car makers still DON'T GET IT!!!!
they make black interiors for the same reason dash boards are black. So that the reflected light does not blind you, or make excessive glare on your windshield, door glass or your eye glasses.
Erick Emerald WRONG. The reflected dashboards are caused by an IMPROPER angle of the dash layout and I can assure you that a black or dark colored one will show up a lot worse than a lighter color. BMW solved the angle issue on the compact cars--why can't others? Wrong on the interior color comment too--there is no way enough light is going to reflect or blind you from a light colored seat! But a dark colored seat will roast your ass off. So my comment stands--black colored interiors on ragtops suck!
chad haire Then I guess leave window cracked open? I'm sorry I don't know why this is a big problem for you, most people prefer black that's why automakers keep doing it.
And Jay is wrong about the V12 XJ-S. With the right modifications in suspension, brakes and added 5-speed, it is a proper GT car. I know, because I own one.
Doug Scott Wrong. The conversions were done by a Jaguar dealership in the 80's as part of a Jaguar UK sponsored Lister Conversion Program. The parts were produced in the UK by Jaguar and TWR. I have the paperwork to prove it. As far as selling it, I had a guy offer me $35,000 at a recent car show. I am not selling. My neighbor owns the Jaguar dealership, and he even said there are no definite plans for the manual, we will see. The F-Type needs a manual.

Demographically it's proven that we're getting taller ( and larger ) so Why is it that the Italians, who are less likely to be tall than the British, are adjusting to the times and the Brits are missing the boat? And the proof is in the driving, not just the appearance anywy,
Maverick Grabber actually it was a Aston Martin designer for this car. I love my F Type and saw a Aston that looked exactly the same except for the interior.
It's great that Jay Leno drives his cars , he doesn't just store them & never drive them like a lot of car collectors do, Thst shouldn't be allowed imo. As Jay says ' cars need to be driven, & not just stared at" !! I'm so jealous , I'd be happy with just his white e-type jag.
well, i have driven both. design wise i think the coupe might look better. But not from all angles. But the convertible's driving experience was much better. My goal is to buy a convertible f-type in the next 5 years.
It's 2021 and this is still my dream "affordable " sports car. One day I will own one

I think this is the first car that I prefer in blue rather than red. Beautiful!
That's the sound of the '60s right there. Intoxicating sounds and one of the best looking cars ever made. However, I prefer the XK. It's iconic.
I’m here in my single car section of my garage 🤪
I drove the f type coupe recently. I didnt want to give it back. Definitely my next car.
jay says make it with a six speed, you make it with a damn six speed.
Every car Jag make at the moment is fantastic. The new F-Pace looks nice too.
I was also going to type some bullshit about language but I got distracted looking at a fucking Jag-war F Type.
Probably one of the best engine noises in the world at the moment.
VP of Jaguar, Buy's unfitted dickie shirts from wal-mart
One Lion I doubt it.
Dilip Tien did you watch the video lol
One Lion lol
One Lion And the billionaires Steve Jobs and Bill Gates wore the same cheap clothing all the time. Point? Lol
One Lion its not a big deal...
My father had a Jaguar F type while I was growing up, maybe that's why I love Jags so much.
+Annebeth Larsson unless you grew up in 2013 I think you are referring to the E-type :)
Yasser Zuhair Yeah thats it couldnt remember eaxactly what it was at the time.
Annebeth Larsson haha its all good , E type F type both just as beautiful :D
i remember riding in a jaguar when i was 10.. it was completely silent and seemed to float on air
XJS Coupe
Anthony Steele 1979 was a very very long time ago
1979 was a very very long time ago
Well, but thats not a fault of that car but a fault of an owner...
As Jay said the Americans did not know how to service them. The very few dealers were expensive so they took them elsewhere, but that was unwise.
So my comment stands--black colored interiors on ragtops suck!
chad haire Black doesn't get as dirty. Get tinted windows, solves your problem.
Papaya Man In Alaska yes. Where the sun shines NO!
chad haire Then I guess leave window cracked open? I'm sorry I don't know why this is a big problem for you, most people prefer black that's why automakers keep doing it.
Needs to be available as a coupe, and needs to be available with a 6 speed manual.
And Jay is wrong about the V12 XJ-S. With the right modifications in suspension, brakes and added 5-speed, it is a proper GT car. I know, because I own one.
***** Yes, but where is the manual gearbox?
***** Are you sure. I contacted a local Jaguar dealership a month ago and they said "no manual in the works"?
Doug Scott Wrong. The conversions were done by a Jaguar dealership in the 80's as part of a Jaguar UK sponsored Lister Conversion Program. The parts were produced in the UK by Jaguar and TWR. I have the paperwork to prove it. As far as selling it, I had a guy offer me $35,000 at a recent car show. I am not selling. My neighbor owns the Jaguar dealership, and he even said there are no definite plans for the manual, we will see. The F-Type needs a manual.
I Concur
Just bought a base model 2018. I love driving this beauty.
The best comment ever at 3:26 .........Keep manuals alive :))))))))))

10 years old video, 6 months new to me F-type V6 with manual transmission, it's an amazing car!
One day i will own one.
They depreciate hard too so if you buy used it's even more achievable
Joshua Ochoa do so it's worth every penny and it's pretty cheap for what you get.
Shamir Patel yeah but what about maintnance😖😞
Ricky maitnance is like any car with this. It’s not like a super car
@@vika0194 I have an xfr and it was 2600 to replace the alternator this cars are no supercars but you cant just drop it off at your local auto shop normal auto shops wount touch this cars not even a tire change so your only option is the dealer
It hauls..! I have driven it several times - and the sound is absolutly perfect.
"we're here in the 'jag' section of my garage"
-Fuck You Leno Sooo Jealous
When I finish the college, I will buy this car for sure!
Love it how he says Jaguar, I’m English, think he had the best job in the world, thought he was brilliant on top gear. 👍🏴
Welcome back to another episode of Jay Leno's blue shirt and jeans
Another great review. Thanks Jay. That Project 7 though - from another world. Love the Retro treatment. Just beautiful.
F-type = home run
California = flyball
Perhaps you are correct, HowEver: I can't sit in the F Type where the California cockpit is not just adequate but ample --not something I have come to expect from Ferrari. Demographically it's proven that we're getting taller ( and larger ) so Why is it that the Italians, who are less likely to be tall than the British, are adjusting to the times and the Brits are missing the boat? And the proof is in the driving, not just the appearance anywy,
You are fat you mean. I'm 6 foot 7 and fit very very nicely
Simply love the way he drives and accelerates!
Looks a little like Aston Martin. Really nice Jaguar...
Maverick Grabber That’s pretty insulting
Maverick Grabber same designer
Maverick Grabber actually it was a Aston Martin designer for this car. I love my F Type and saw a Aston that looked exactly the same except for the interior.
Jaguar back to it's best, stunning automobile!
7:08 ashucatheee
SGTBizarro what !
Turkey Man as you can see
Jags V8 and even V6 has one of the nicest sound in the business.
If had 80,000, I would debate between this, m3, or a porsche
Finnaly someone with good taste
Id probably have to go for the jaguar with v6
Ryan White M3! porches are gay
I never said said Porsche
sorry meant to reply that to the op
I'm SOLD, Thank you Mr.Leno!!! I felt like I was right there with you!
16:34 looks like he broke something lol
It's great that Jay Leno drives his cars , he doesn't just store them & never drive them like a lot of car collectors do,
Thst shouldn't be allowed imo.
As Jay says ' cars need to be driven, & not just stared at" !!
I'm so jealous , I'd be happy with just his white e-type jag.
nice car they did good
is good to be bad
Well dear boy, well.
The noise that those cars make is so right
this car is so sexy, I took pics of a blue one at an auto show last year.
i have driven the f-type 5 times so far…
Seriously??..
yes, i have an xj so I have had the chance to drive all jaguar cars for free at my dealer. I liked the convertible more
Wow! The XJ220 is such a rare classic! I'm jealous because the F-Type is really beautiful, i like the non-convertible so much more thought..
well, i have driven both. design wise i think the coupe might look better. But not from all angles. But the convertible's driving experience was much better. My goal is to buy a convertible f-type in the next 5 years.
