I've been also to Bali and it's beautiful especially UBUD
@@RoOnTheGo I love Ubud so much
I am returning this year
Have a great week
Amazing! I always love seeing your awesome videos! Excellent educational info, insightful, inspirational, beautiful sceneries, great video-shooting skills, high-quality audio, all in one! Can't beat that! This channel is definitely one of the best vlogs on RUclips imo! Thank you for all that you do as always! Cheers!
Very kind of you :-)
I appreciate this feedback
I did also Campuhan Ridge Walk and it was very nice
@@RoOnTheGo true, nice morning walk
I need to remember to get up there early before the heat
Took a trail into an Ubud forest a few days ago. Got bitten so much thought everything there was trying to eat me. 😂
Oh yes
I use that mosquito cream they sell at the convenience stores
It really helped
They come after me too haha
A new place which I’ve become actually obsessed with is Pizza Cult in Ubud. Amazing food, great service, such a cute venue and really affordable. Also a great place to bring your laptop and work from!
Yum! Thank you ! I need to try this place
@@RetireandGo YASS!
What a beautiful trail. Having long-term goals and looking to the future is exciting. Your vlogs are inspirational. Keep on doing what you are doing. Safe travels. Mahalo.
Thank you so much
Have a great week :-)
Man, some of these hikes I'm thinking a tiger is gonna get ya...lol
Yes true haha !
I agree, that's a great hike. I did it when I was there last fall. Those 4 goals are great ones to have. I can totally agree with applying those goals to my own life. I've heard of the "go-go, slow-go, no-go" progression in retirement. I always urge people to take advantage of their go-go years...get out there and enjoy it! Another way I've heard people refer to the early part of your retirement is that you are in "the youth of your senior years". Keep on enjoying your youth!
Yes for sure
Azul talks about that
Great thoughts !
The new music also is great!
Thank you! RUclips is so strict
I’m happy when I get a new track they allow haha
Thank you so much for your videos, they are keeping me on my path to retirement and travel
This is good to read
This is my mission. :-)
2:27 there is that illumination again ! What a striking natural flow there, I could sit there all day so beautiful. The bubbling sounds, the water it is freely flowing perfect spot . Your hike was challenging, pushing the cardio. Good job. You plan well Chris. Constantly moving the goal posts to create challenging things. The hotel is super nice very organic, coffee breakfast everything looks good. Oh i dont want the no go years! Chris you look so good , I can see your fitness level has improved a great deal. Awesome ❤. Your my super hero Tuber. Ive researched centenarians , the Mediterranean diet, Italy , Japan... same thoughts here ! Give me life, experiences, joy and peace!
Thank you, I am trying to stay healthy and reduced my alcohol intake
I think that has helped
The walks are so important as well
Have been watching your vids for a few months now. Finally subbed and making a comment! I like the way you plan and stratagize your life. I have been taking many mental notes from your vids, as I am planning on FIRE and global travel within the next 2 years.
You are doing great
You are planning and preparing
That’s so important
I love John and Bev - the Retirement Travelers! What a kind shout out to them and it’s a great point.
I turned 52 over the weekend and can’t wait to get out there soon with all of you!!! ❤️
They are so inspirational to me
Nice positive video
Thank you :-)
Have a great week
You're such an inspiration. Love your message! 😊
Thank you :-)
I hope you have a great week
Thumbs up 👍 Christopher & Aloha
Thank you and enjoy the week

Thank you !
Gave a good day
Love ya work mate! Keep em comin.
Thank you !
I appreciate this :-)
Watch out with the fruit juice, always order with no sugar! 😉
Good point
It’s plenty sweet haha
Hello, another great, well done show, but no mad dogs. Keep on trucking and be safe.
I will try to find some mad dawgs
Ubud is a little tougher
I’ll search ! Haha
My go, go years was during work. 10 days in Asia in the spring, then 10 days in Europe in the fall. 20 years of this! I hate whirlwind touring. See all the sites in 10 days. Now in retirement my trips are 3 - 4 weeks in a small geography, and we go back to places we liked and live like a local... kinda.
Very nice
It’s great to stay active through life like that
Great video, thumbs up 👍, Alloha
@@georgeschahoud7160 thank you so much :-)
Have a great weekend
I retired about a year and a half ago. My son and I spent about a week in Alaska fishing and exploring. Was raining too much so we decided to fly to Hawaii for a week of more relaxing and fun. Go Go years shouldn’t be wasted. Enjoy your Time!
You are doing fantastic
The kids remember these trips
It also sets up for them to spend time with their kids too
It was very enjoyable to watch your video about long-term thinking.
Notably, the extension of your life expectancy by 30 years is remarkable. Could you provide details such as the expected availability, the name of the medication, the name of the company, and whether it is accessible to everyone, etc.
I do see AI developing new medications to cure cancer, all serious ailments and extend life
Aloha ! You`re doing it exactely just right, retirement is a new life in which you can change bad habits, feeling healthy with new energy is the goal !👍i think to travel open-minded to different countries and cherish every day makes happy ! Bali is such a magnificent country to feel free and at the same time "at home"🙏i love the healthy food and juices you show😋Thanks !
Thank you
I agree
Yes the fresh juice has been good
I’m really cutting back on alcohol so that’s helped too
Aloha, Continuing to learn and enjoy your videos, fantastic information! The advice to keep up with professional credentialing and education is so important in retirement!! Mahalo
Thank you :-)
Yes I maintain certification in case I need it
My mouth was watering with that watermelon juice and the food looked delicious too. As a huge hiker, I just love all the trails and parks you find in these countries. What a great talk today. Have a great week 🤗
This is the place you should go this year !
You deserve it
Man I love so much that you have a plan and are proactive in your life. Also to live into my 120s WOW. My grandmother lived to 105. So i think its good to do everything I can to add years to my life and life to my years.
I understand! I think AI will solve aging
We just have to make it to escape velocity haha
Thanks for the highlights. I wish you more prosperity
Thank you !
I wish the same for you :-)
Another awesome video! Loving your content. I am about your age so am really taking detailed notes on your tips!! ;) 2 quick questions, I know you have said you aim to keep your costs around $2K/month. If you dont mind sharing, how much could you actually spend per month if you actually accessed all your income?
Also, great idea to keep in touch with new technologies. what resources do you use to keep on track with your IT , tech, and AI knowledge and developments. Maybe theres an idea for another video channel for you focussed purely on tech! ;)
The main thing is to set a budget and have an emergency fund
Here is what I did, the first 12 months I had a fund ready to back up my monthly expenses
It was so low cost I liquidated the fund and rolled it into more dividend stocks haha
Staying under $2000 in Southeast Asia is easy
(Alcohol and entertainment will crush that though )
Does this help ?
Yes sir on the future. Why work & invest if you’re not going to enjoy it & use it for the betterment of others! We are 2 years away from our own retirement journey. Keep the vids coming!!
Good point
We should enjoy life along the way :-)
I've been retired since 2020, I was fortunate to have a good paying government job, & paid 8% of each paycheck into my pension fund for 28 years. I also have a Roth IRA, which I've been making my own investment picks like you. Before I retired I bought a house in Myrtle Beach, SC, which was very cost effective during the first couple of years, but not anymore with the current inflation. I've been thinking about selling my house, and moving overseas, but I don't know if I could handle the Spartan lifestyle that you lead.
I totally understand
You have been responsible in your investment plan
I commend you
I also found the costs ran away from me
So I had to go and seek new surroundings
Hi there, just subscribed to your channel. I'm 47 now and looking ahead for my retirement 10 years work left in me. You give a ideal and vision of how I would like my retirement to be. Keep up the great work. And looking forward to the next video buddy 😎
You are doing great
Preparing and planning
You are ahead of most 47 year old right there !
Amazing scenery 👌
Ubud is a gorgeous place to visit
Go this year !
Thanks for the inclusion of the Bali-attack-cat: often heard of, but seldom seen :)
Haha truth :-)
My suggestion to you is to study Bitcoin. It's digital gold, decentralized, not controlled by any Gov't, CEO or company. It's finite and can/should be held in self custody and it's digital. It's a store of wealth held by an individual and it gives people back the sovereignty. Thanks for the video.
You may be right
I own Tesla , they own Bitcoin
So I own Bitcoin that way :-)
Thanks again for your great advice!!! The food there is healthy and cheap comparing to the toxic food here in the USA. Smart advice on investing," a year and half ago I took advantage of the 5% CD"s little something if someone has extra cash. Can"t wait to visit Thailand in January love your videos😊
That’s a good CD rate !
Great content and advice, Christopher! Any other Indonesian islands on your list other than Bali? Loved the mad attack cat! 😂
I need to explore a few more
Bali seems to win though haha
Love the retirement phases and how you communicate them to us Chris. I think as you said we need to keep compounding investments because these longevity drugs won't be cheap to purchase. We need the funds to buy them if we get the chance.😊
Yeah that is one of my concerns
The longevity drugs and treatments could cost $100,000
The recoup of costs of development
What are your thoughts ?
Thank you so much for your insight, your right you have to keep moving and learning. I am hoping to retire in 2 years, the money and 401 k could be bigger, but I feel like my life is worth getting out of the rat race, I am a nurse and I can always find something to do, even if it’s just play money or travel money… My focus is staying healthy and putting away as much cash as possible… Thanks for inspiring and encouraging us… Blessings to you…
You are doing great !
You are being responsible and preparing
Do you have a Blog yet if you do can you make a list of the hotels you stay in your videos are great
Good point
I wish I had more time to do more like that
I’m at 12 to 16 hour days now
Filming editing upload
fantastic lifestyle if no handbrake (wife) haha
Just a solo traveler
I try to chat with folks along the way :-)
HI love the videos I did have a question you may do a video the question is HOw Do you protect your property while traveling. I mean in a Backpack you have you laptop and sometime expesive products including money. Being in the room while walking etc. Please address this. Thanks
This is a great question
I am traveling with one item of value, my cell phone
It is on me when I walk out the room
My laptop is years old and has no real value to anyone
It’s light and thin, that’s why I use it haha
My cards and passport go with me out the door
Check out O’Neil brand shorts model name TRVLR
Passport pocket
Zippers
Awesome for travel
Light and quick dry
I hope this helps
I would urge you to go deep on Bitcoin, considering you're so interested in new technology. Most importantly: how Bitcoin forces a deflationary world, one where inflation (monetary theft) is not required. Just a suggestion :)
-Mike
I appreciate this !
I own Tesla stock
They own bitcoin
That’s my vicarious investment haha
:-)
Right now, Laos looks like the best low cost living. If you enjoy a rural lifestyle . If you like the big city, nightlife, Laos wont do it for you. I have a friend living in Laos right now on $900/month retirement from SS. He is fine,. Pays all the bills, and supports his wife and two children. 😂
Laos is fantastic
I went in 2023
It was a great experience
@@RetireandGo of course I am bias towards Laos. My wife is from there. She still has relatives and friends who live there, so it feels like a home away from home. I cant think of one negative aspect of living in Laos.
@@charlesmcdonald8654 well said !
@@RetireandGo saw those videos. My favorite was you having a steak, cigar and whiskey for about $25. You cant even get a good cigar in America for $25.😂
@@charlesmcdonald8654 oh yes it’s nice to have a good cigar evening from time to time.
I keep a pipe at my brothers home in Texas
I enjoy that as well
Appreciate your positive outlook for longevity but if we live 33% longer in the future, retirement age will be 33% later. That's the reality.
You might be right !
People will keep
Working
I will tell you, investing for a few decades consistently and anyone can retire
Then you have decades to travel
( but have hobbies haha )
I retired at 56 and just over 2 years in. Could have done it earlier and sometimes wish I had. Strangely perhaps, I felt a little guilty retiring relatively young and couldn't help feeling judged by some people I know who kept on working. There's a certain amount of pressure to be "productive" and to "contribute to society", but I'm mostly over that now. Some of these people didn't plan well and will be forced to work into their late sixties. Jealousy and resentment can be a problem. Some others love their jobs but I wasn't one of them. Anyway, my goal is to be in go go mode for the next decade with a lot of travel and just being open to new opportunities. One dilemma I find is: how do I develop and deepen friendships if I'm in that go go mode?
I felt that way too
It’s an adjustment to not working
Hobbies are important I think
The world will be fine, read and work out and enjoy retirement you deserve it :-)
The only affordable way left to eat in the US: free food samples at Costco and their $1.50 hot dog combo ...LOL
Scan the sausage bar code with Yuka..price is good but the weiner will kill you..
That hot dog is so good haha
I like mustard and onions
120 yrs old, hell no! If my body, mind and money are gone. I would rather be dead!
There will be new medications to make you more sharp and not lose you mind
You will live long, enjoy life, be healthy :-)
Are you measuring your daily walks with a Fitbit or something? Are you trying to ramp up your health goals or in more of a maintenance mode? At 61 I've been ramping up for some time. I think it will pay off bigtime on the back end of the lifespan. Mostly weight bearing exercises and walking. Indonesia looks like a winner to me.
That would be interesting for sure
Just time and general distance more than anything
Do you use any fitness tech ?
@@RetireandGo A Fitbit since 2016...it's pretty cool to see body weight fluctuations and walking data over the 8 year span.
@@Explorer766 those are pretty cool!
Hey buddy, you're so inspirational to me. Im 43 now and seriously seriously stacking and investing to retire in 10 years. You are in such good shape. If you dont mind me asking, what age range are you in? If I had to guess, I would guess just around 50 😊
43 here too. Same goals. We can do it, my man. We can get there earlier. I believe it.
Thank you for these kind words
I’m 54
I retired and started traveling at 52 :-)
@RetireandGo Wow! You overcame a lot in a short amount of time. 🤝
@@lostboi3974 it was a code red
Divorce and I was getting older
I needed to make it happen
Serious buckle down time :-)
I’m retiring at 62. I’m thinking maybe 🤔 should’ve done it earlier.
did the "attack cats" win the war with the "mad dogs".....???? lol
They both comin for me ! Haha
Hi Chris (is it Chris?), another great video. Can I ask your age currently, as I'm trying to work out what age you'll be in 10 years? Also what monthly budget do you try and stick to? Thanks
Yes its Christopher :-)
I’m 54 now
Retired at 52
Monthly budget is to stay under $2000
Not a problem in Southeast Asia at all
Annual budget $24,000
@@RetireandGo thanks Christopher. If that budget was for a couple would it go up to say $3k per month do you think? Cheers
@@ianwhittaker3041 for a couple yes I can see that
How do you choose your countries? What is the research process like? Are there places you would not return to?
Great question
I did a video recently covering exactly what I look for
Detailed
Many things to think about
I think a few weeks back , just check
Conflict will increase. AI and robotics will magnify that.
What are some strategies for investing as nations, monetary systems, and institutions are destroyed?
Stay foundational
Industrial metals, shipping, trains, big tech, chemicals, energy stocks
I’m out of retail anything
Thoughts ?
@@RetireandGo
I mean what are your hedges for when the platforms those investments are on are destroyed?
Is cryptocurrency or some new asset platform going to exist independent of governments and monetary systems?
@@jtraveler888 have you watched the rebel capitalist channel? He traveled Latin America to search for the so called Bitcoin paradise
He could not use or even exchange Bitcoin in the countries he visited
It’s an incredible series of videos to watch
From this year too
Okay you got to explain the 10 year plan. Is that like 52 to 62? Then incorporate Social Security check at 62?
This is a good question
That might play a role
I also considered other ideas to add to that
Motorcycle travel? RV? Sail? Cruises?
Honestly it’s too early to say :-)
Suggestions?
I like investing in dividend stocks because I am not tempted to sell them when the stock market has a large correction.
Very true! This is a good point
Buy that large correction when it occurs my friend
I hope you're right and the Deagle report is wrong.
I will have to look into this thank you
How are the Keens holding up, have a strange question, i can tell you love animals, how does it go without a pet? And i agree with living to older ages premiss, my moms 95 so i guess its in my genetics something to think about, PEACE!!!
Oh my this pair is so strong and comfortable
I walk for hours in them daily
I’ll try different models as well
120 years?! No thanks.
Maybe 150 eventually
AI will bring about this through medical research
how do you know which countries tipping is acceptable or required?
Great question
It’s a US thing
In Asia I don’t tip in any country
Just smile and tell everyone it was delicious and thank you
IMO Tipping has gotten way out of control in the US.
It’s nice to be in Asia and not have to fork over an additional 25% over the menu price.
@@philpatt970 true
Do you've a Thai girlfriend, because i want to travel with a girl ?
@@RoOnTheGo I totally understand that
I do not , but I want you to travel and be happy !
If you hadn't gotten married, and did not have kids, would you pursue that at this point in your life?
Hmm yes I think so
Having children is a blessing and hard wonderful work
They grow up to be such fine people you love to be around :-)
I started to watch your videos about 1 year ago (I still have nightmare about the naked man in the fancy nightclub😣).
I have to say your editing of the videos and the storytelling has improved from good to excellent.
Well done, sir.
lol that guy was nuts
I did not even know he was caught on camera until you commented on him haha
The human body is so resilient haha
Im not sure if I asked you this. What do you think about having kids?
Children are so worth it in life
They grow up to be fine people
You enjoy them at every age !
It’s long and hard work and worth it
As I taught my kids: the best things in life take time
