I don't know why in 2024 this is still a thing. There was a big uproar in the late 90's with not being able to remove Internet Explorer. MS said IE couldn't be separated from the OS. So the US government brought a lawsuit against microsoft. After the lawsuit, low and behold IE could be uninstalled. Why haven't they done the same with Edge by now? Probably because there's now money changing hands
It wasn't just because MS wanna force IE on users. They made it so certain OS features (like web view on Windows 9X/2000's File Explorer) relied on IE to work. Removing IE would break or disable these features. Edge is pretty much modern Windows' IE. MS Store apps, Widget Panel, and online features on the Start Menu rely on Edge's "Webview" component. MS refuses to learn their lesson.
It cant be uninstalled, it resist being shut down in task manager (check the search process, there are about 7-9 Edge view processes running), and its heavy in the background using RAM, CPU, and internet resources. Its a real pain when you want a bloat free benchmark of the system, an upgrade, etc. I paid the full price for a trouble free OS not ads, spam, redirects, bloat. When the ads come I am going to run Linux as an alternative OS and if I like it Windows is out. I want to own my build.
@MichaelDustter yep ms do like to be in charge of whats on your PC, for me it hasn't come back even after many windows updates, and remember you have to remove Webview as well

I've uninstalled Edge and Webview from all 5 machines I have and nothing has happened badly, with Webview gone MS apps still work well and get updated they are just in the older versions which I prefer as there are no ads, and after many windows updates Edge and Webview have not returned
Removing Webview may break some games from playing correctly on your computer. At least that's what happened when I removed Webview. But you can remove Edge and Edge Update with no issues.

On Pro versions of Windows it will keep Edge off your PC if you set a registry entry because on Pro versions the option is respected because of business PC's
I prefer to have a clean tidy system, that's why I uninstalled or deactivated all these preinstalled by manufacture utilities. Instead I have an intel support assistant, that takes care of all essential components: processor, GPU (also intel), wifi adapter. That's enough to keep the firmware and drivers updated, all the rest is done by windows updates. Brand is not important. The reason why I want to uninstall edge is because it opens without my consent anytime I misspell something slightly in the windows search, or if I accidentally hit f1, or whenever it just feels like it sometimes. I wouldn't hate edge so much if it just wouldn't constantly open all the time without me ever wanting to open it. Actually no that's a lie, I'd still hate it anyways because now its trying to shove ai down my throat.

As a CCTV installer weve had issues with all browser. I use Edge daily and like it. Its smooth and fast. When i need to connect to a camera etc I run the pade in IE mode. Works brilliantly.
Yeah windows 11 uses edge way more than 10 for its troubleshooters but actually mostly the webview runtime part. If you really don't want it to run the easiest way is just leave it but use a software restriction policy to block execution of anything in the folder. But even that's a little more tricky in 11 because 11 has superceded such policies with the newer app control or whatever it's called but you can revert back to SRP but that's a video on it's own 😂
Do this at your own risk. Only way to delete edge is by booting with another os like linux on a pendrive or dual boot windows and delete the files manually. I have done this myself and it worked. Then reboot to the system and type edge on the search bar and there will remain a shortcut to it. Just locate the file and delete it. No more edge. Here is the files location. Delete both folders named Edge. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\

If you’re hell bent on using other browsers, even if Edge has collections, better memory management than chrome, vertical tabs, same browser engine, and integrates with your private or professional Microsoft/365 accounts syncing your bookmarks and passwords and enabling SSO single sign on to your account, still want to use chrome because your a Gmail user, just do that and leave edge be. @@AlbikerkyIsNotReal Not really. Compare it to whatever. Microsoft, like Apple chose to ship a browser with its operating system. You can choose not to use it. A browser in 2024 is as integral a part of a computer now as a car horn is to a car. Why is regulators and you picking on companies for what they include in their own OS? You can Easily install another browser on a computer and use that instead. And many do add. Chrome of all browsers. A worse version of the SAME browser I’d argue. You can likewise install an after market horn to your car but only a very small percentage do. What is really the difference?
I live in France, God help me after the recent abomination, and have uninstalled Edge. But it keeps coming back. So Microsoft has run rings round the Brussels bureaucrats by saying yes, sure we'll allow uninstalling, but not telling them that it will be reinstalled continually.
Uninstalling this nagware is one of the first things I do after installing Windows. Even if the user don't start it intentionally, it would load to memory on startup "to start faster" and pop up unexpectedly with some Windows functions that use the web and WON'T allow anything else. Only thing broken is Microsoft help and Microsoft troubleshooters, which are useless anyway (rarely finds the cause of a problem or suggest anything beyond "update drivers" and "reboot"). I'd rather have a useless non-working feature than having Edge nagging me for several screens for login into Microsoft so it can present me with irrelevant news and ads.
I agree with @JasonWestaway, I cannot stand the fact that this is forced on us. I can uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller Pro, , but I'd never uninstall it in fear of what Microsoft has made it tied into. I've just not put it on the Start menu anywhere in my Open Shell so as far as I'm concerned it doesn't exist. Nice upload again, thank you.
if there would be no M$ Edge in preinstalled windows, I would rather install it. It's an essential browser in my system, along with Firefox (hardened user.js) and Mullvad. Edge however is not allowed to visit any web site that it might want to ) Only those which I allow )

LOL. Privacy. Mozilla does not give a fk on your privacy either either. They have ads on their discover page and received $500 million from Google annually just to set google as its default search engine. Plus buying AI company that literally says they will use your data. Edge's reading view mode can bypass paywalls on a lot of websites. It just works.

Its pointless removing edge/debloating windows unless you disable/remove updates. As soon as windows updates everything will be put back.
I personally debloat windows with ntlite i strip out nerly everything i dont use including windows update. I run like this for a year with good antivirus i.e eset. Then repeat the process with the latest version of windows once a year.
Never had any problems with security, or the daily using of windows. Been doing this for some years now also.
numerous, numerous versions are running always in the background as i checked Task Mang,.....Thanks you.
Enjoy!
Very wise words Brian as you say just don't use it why take the risk of stuffing up your whole computer Cheers Chips
Thanks for your effort, but I always found the thing is to leave IE or Edge or M$ next effort in place, even leave it as the preferred browser, just install Firefox or Chrome as well. That does result in some minor inconvenience, but nothing like the inconvenience of a broken operating system when you take out the Monopoly Browser. One could argue the morals & ethics of this, that one shouldn't have to, but ...
You can get around it. Linux doesn't do any of this kind of stuff.
hey Brian i use iolo system mechanic but they are now pushing "system mechanic constantly pushing "service " constantly saying u need to upgrade service can u help us with another program that can work any help would greatly appreciated sincerely "
I used Apple for so long I forgot how unnecessarily complicated Microsoft is
Yes those wise programs are super to use though I didn’t know wise did an uninstaller
Works a treat
The reason why I want to uninstall edge is because it opens without my consent anytime I misspell something slightly in the windows search, or if I accidentally hit f1, or whenever it just feels like it sometimes. I wouldn't hate edge so much if it just wouldn't constantly open all the time without me ever wanting to open it. Actually no that's a lie, I'd still hate it anyways because now its trying to shove ai down my throat.
My Microsoft edge doesn’t load websites no more so might need this
very very thanks brother . I unistall the microsoft edge browser succesfully. very very thanks. i like your video and share your video and sucbcribe your chanel
As a CCTV installer weve had issues with all browser. I use Edge daily and like it. Its smooth and fast. When i need to connect to a camera etc I run the pade in IE mode. Works brilliantly.
I found the file "edge.exe" and renamed it to "edge.exe.old" Problem solved. It can not longer launch no matter what Microsoft does.
Wise does not uninstall. Folks, don't waste your time using wise as it does not remove all residual files.
Or you could just use the terminal command... seems easier 🤷
Firefox all the way, and it's very easy to stop adverts.
That's your choice
except ff puts news/ads in the new tab page too and mozilla received $500 million dollar per year just to keep google as its default search engine.
Yeah windows 11 uses edge way more than 10 for its troubleshooters but actually mostly the webview runtime part. If you really don't want it to run the easiest way is just leave it but use a software restriction policy to block execution of anything in the folder. But even that's a little more tricky in 11 because 11 has superceded such policies with the newer app control or whatever it's called but you can revert back to SRP but that's a video on it's own 😂
I can't, because some paid apps use it as part of their software.
So you have to keep it
Do this at your own risk.
I'm going to keep it. It's my favorites internet browser.
Fair enough!
I just wanted remove Microsoft Edge updates because they updated my computer and blocked my duck duck go
Kids, do it on your own risk.
it just reinstalls itself' this doesn't work.
well looks like I stop using computers all together, already stopped using cellphones it is the only way to stop them from having any power
thanks i'm realy preheated for your easy method
Funny each time i go to a microsoft edge video it is always about how edge being terrible.
You cannot uninstall chrome on android. You cannot uninstall safari on apple. Even linux dostributions preinstalled firefox. Don't see why people like you are so salty about it
probably bc ppl actually like and prefer those search engines lol
Microsoft is making Edge uninstallable in European countries. It's just better to leave it alone and not break your system trying to remove it
Thank u for giving me the risks at the end of the video lol
CHEERS FOR THE INFORMATION IN UK SO NO OPTION TO UNINSTALL BUT I THINK i'LL LEAVE ALONE THANKS FOR SHARING THE INFO
my tinkering days are over lol good video mate
Cheers David, probably for the best, it only breaks things.
I like Edge but detest Bing keep being forced on me. Good vid Brian.
BING is horrible
@@Britec09 Brian please rid us of Bing
Intended for those who like to live on the "edge"...pun intended 😁
Have a good weekend
bravo i never used microsoft edge ever.
Why would anyone uninstall Edge? If you’re hell bent on using other browsers, even if Edge has collections, better memory management than chrome, vertical tabs, same browser engine, and integrates with your private or professional Microsoft/365 accounts syncing your bookmarks and passwords and enabling SSO single sign on to your account, still want to use chrome because your a Gmail user, just do that and leave edge be. You don’t uninstall Xbox or camera apps just because you don’t use them…
@MichaelDustterjust dont use it then. Use whatever browser you want
@MichaelDustter there os edge for linux too 😂
Edge is a virus, it completely kills your performance just by it's very existence.
@@driver288 Dude you SHOULD be allowed to choose if you want it or not. Doesn't matter if I use it or not, I shouldn't have Microsoft spyware on my computer forcefully.
thanks alot dude u helped me
👍👍👍
no thanks i just leave it alone and set chrome as default not messing with edge uninstalling it also i belive revo uninstaller can remove it also i think not sure
great helpful video thanks
EDGE is bloatware and completely unneeded as a useless application
For some reason, since last year. I use edge only. No 3rd party browser on my system.
And it works flawless and swift!!!
Like I said, you either love it or hate it
@Britec09 true that... i used to hate it. Now i emjoy it. Lol. Thanks for great video as always. Keep up the good work.
So? what's the point of this video? you cannot uninstall edge on windows fullstop. Install your ff or arc or anything else and move on. People like you just create toxic environment for the hatred anyone who dare to use edge. How dare you?
So… should car horns be optional too? Or should you be able to choose to get your computer without an off button? Where do you draw the line? Windows’s without explorer? Why do you HAVE to be able to remove edge? Just don’t use it. Very simple. In fact you have the right NOT to buy a windows computer at all. That’s probably the choice for you here.
Comparing a Car horn to a Web browser is a very desperate defense you're putting up.
Benefitted. Thanks dear
makes no sense as edge is better than chrome
"Don't do this" but here's how to do it.
People want to do it, can't be clearer than what I was
which people? represent yourself?
I found if I uninstall Edge I got update problem.🇦🇺👍
Saved to watch later
No problem
I agree with @JasonWestaway, I cannot stand the fact that this is forced on us. I can uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller Pro, , but I'd never uninstall it in fear of what Microsoft has made it tied into. I've just not put it on the Start menu anywhere in my Open Shell so as far as I'm concerned it doesn't exist. Nice upload again, thank you.
You're welcome
20 gb lighter after this video,
if there would be no M$ Edge in preinstalled windows, I would rather install it. It's an essential browser in my system, along with Firefox (hardened user.js) and Mullvad.
Edge however is not allowed to visit any web site that it might want to )
Only those which I allow )
but chrome is preinstalled on android. safari is preinstalled on apple. even firefox is preinstalled on linux distributions. i do not get your point rather than microsoft being terrible.
Edge is fast and lightweight but lacks privacy, Firefox is a good balance of privacy, security and usability. Mullavad is mostly for testing
Edge is not terrible if you find its application purpose
LOL. Privacy. Mozilla does not give a fk on your privacy either either. They have ads on their discover page and received $500 million from Google annually just to set google as its default search engine. Plus buying AI company that literally says they will use your data.
Edge's reading view mode can bypass paywalls on a lot of websites. It just works.
@MichaelDustter Librewolf updater could be made silent (or I didn't find how to do so)
Firefox is fully configurable, and if you don't mind spending some time or use some script, it can be turned into Librewolf
Mullvad is another good browser
@MichaelDustter ok that's cool. Not like in Windows )
uninstaled edge and found program that stop it from Reinstalling again.
You make a lot of videos how to removed edge
Because it keeps changing
what about making a video on how to remove chrome on android?
Thanks fren
I genuinely hate microsoft edge
just do this hibit unistaler
pls talk about windows 10 ltsc because it is really underrated
