I ordered exactly the same stepper motors yesterday. I haven't thought about the higher temperatures yet. I look forward to your continuation And thanks for the input! ;)
I have been advised that the LDO 2804 motors run hot; if you are going to run them with a higher run_current, then they will likely run hot enough to melt any ABS/ASA motor mounts that you might print for them. It was recommended to me to use metal motor mounts for them, to play it safe.
I'm running them at 1.9A and they haven't melted my mounts yet. I do plan to CNC some aluminum mounts at some point so I can extract their full potential, but for reference, they can run 800mm/s at 20k accel with current settings.
It's now a heavily modified Formbot kit, but yes, I ordered the original Formbot 2.4R2 350mm kit from 3dprintersbay.com last August. There wasn't anything wrong with the components in my Formbot kit, but at the time, they didn't include too many extras. Honestly not sure if that has changed since.
Do you mean the aluminum AB motor mounts? I'm just installing those today, so I can't really form an opinion yet on their performance, but so far the assembly has gone smoothly.
@@oldguymeltsplastic Any update on how you like them so far? Also, do you have a link to where you sourced just the motor mounts and not an entire aluminum kit?
Instead of Rama's Idlers you should use Clee's BFI (beefy front idlers) instead. They're the same form factor as Rama's idlers but they are much stronger as the layers don't go against the tension.
Oh, great. I plan on doing a cartesian 500x500 idex printer based on the 2.4 flying gantry. Since the printer has more weight to handle a more solid idler will be a perfect match.

How are the steppers running? I have the same ones and I am hesitant to run them up to 2.8 out of fear of damaging them.
They are running fine, but quite hot. I wouldn't run them with 2.8 run current on plastic motor mounts. Fortunately, I am using CNC motor mounts.
Wait, is this à formbot kit ?
If so, would you recommend it ?

I'm building a Voron 2.4 and I've already ordered the aluminum in advance so they're already on it now.. I'm curious how you like them

@@bobbyshoe8621 the CNC AB motor mounts have been working well for me. Link is in the video description.
@@oldguymeltsplastic I am blind, thanks for enlightening me. I just ordered them and the LDO motors. Hopefully they work as well for me!
thanks for sharing. Looking forward for the update.
Thanks for watching! I should have an update in a day or two!
What MB and drivers you use for these motors?
Currently using a BTT Octopus Max EZ MCU, and BTT EZ5160 drivers on my 2.4.

Those DO look interesting. Sadly, I just finished re-belting my Z's about an hour ago. I'll look into these for a future upgrade.
You got a link to Clee's BFI ? I can't find anything.
