*I usually do not support the use of clones. I just so happen to have this and I use this board primarily for work in the office. Please support original designs if you have the budget for them. If you are unable to purchase original keycap designs, it's OK, don't worry, clones help to shape our early preferences too!

I bought 10 to test out at first. They were very slow and mushy at first. Not much snappiness either. It seemed it was due to the tight housing. So I spent a while burning them in and now they’re very smooth, not so mushy, and reasonably snappy. If I rapidfire the switch like a machine gun on my finger. It wouldn’t let go (it would disconnect if it’s not snappy enough). The spring, dampening, housing, and tactile bump are quite balanced. There is a bit of a leaf ping though. Anyways, it’s a really good switch after some wear.
If you’re willing to get some lube on the back of the leaf, then it’s a worthy budget U4 alternative. It’s not as tactile as the u4, but the bump is still drawn out like a D, from right to the top to near the bottom. It’s not there to distract or give feedback, only to feel more binary.

what do you mean by "spent a while burning them in"? can you explain how you made them less mushy? thanks!

Do you have birds too? Bc the background chirping sounds exactly like my house (parakeets haha).
Seems great for a work board! Not loud at all.

Nope haha! The birds are from outside. I live in an apartment, and nearby our window we have a tree and birds often just chill there, chirping away.
Yea, they are definitely quiet, although I'd prefer the Cream Yellows in terms of sound and tactility

just got mine last week, IMO i dont think these switches need lube, tbh the prelube itself was already good and feels smooth enough even though it feels very mushy (of course the silicone dampener on the switch stem make it mushy typing feel), but the only thing that dont like just the stock spring since it is really short and doesnt feel snappy. So immediately, i swap it with triple stage spring and it feels so much snappier and better compare to the stock spring. Thanks for the recommendation~

Yea, the spring is probably around 14 to 15mm long, not a very snappy spring, but yea at least the lube is sufficient enough to use stock. No problem, I think it's a great budget switch that is pretty underrated too at the moment!

Have you tried the Boba U4 switches in this board as well? I have some in my board right now and they have quite a bit of inconsistent leaf ping compared to the sample set of Outemu Silent Sky switches I have on hand, which are no longer available. Hoping to find a nice stock silent tactile that does not have this issue.

I love how quiet they are, but quick question how does it feel? mushy? bouncy? how do you compare with other regular tactile switches?

Yes, they are indeed quiet! In terms of the feel, yes it does feel somewhat mushy on the bottom out, but it's definitely not as bad as what you might remember when you are typing on membrane rubber domes. Tactility compared to most other tactiles will place these two silent tactiles right somewhere slightly below an unlubed JWICK T1 from my personal experience!

Can I use silent cream yellow with cherry profile keycaps?

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  Год назад

Yes you can! Althought even though the travel is 3.3mm, I see that it still bottoms out fully, so there might be some interference if your board has a north facing LED PCB.

Silent cream yellows have a more muted sound but toms have like a louder profile but all of them sound so mushy

Yeap, very different switches sound wise. I personally prefer the cream yellows over the membrane-sounding Toms.

wow the yellows might be more quiet than the silent limes.but they are pretty close

Silent cream yellow is the way to go. The top housing is an upgraded nylon material compared to their old switches and they come generously lubed from the factory. I tried both the silent lemon/lime and silent cream yellow and they feel much more premium than old Outemu switches in terms of build quality
