The Bolt is a very important car, for now it's alone in the under $30k BEV space. The Nissan leaf doesn't count because it doesn't have the range and no thermal management system. The Bolt is a truly modern and capable EV.

agree a 100%. i picked up a 2022 metallic silver with black/blue leather interior EUV @ MSRP. picked up 3D interior matts, and center console insert. keep in mind that chevrolet will pay QMERIT up to $1K for the installation a level 2 NEMA outlet. this is definitely the icing on the cake!

Mini Cooper SE, although it doesn't have the range. Base id4 isn't too much more (after credits) but I believe it is a larger vehicle and much nicer in my opinion. We will see if VW can deliver a $35k version once they get production up and running in Chattanooga.

@@richardfolden3860 i completely disagree - i also have a long range tesla M3. tesla has raised their price for the LRM3 by $10K in the last year. the glass rooftop radiates a ton of heat, and overall attention to detail is not acceptable. if you want to do 0-60 in 4 seconds, or travel long distances using tesla's superchargers, or can afford $60K, then it's a different story. however, for a daily driver with 230+ mile range @ MSRP - if you look hard enough - you can't beat a bolt.

No lie I was heavily considering a Tesla model 3, but as of July 2022 here in the states, the standard base price is just under $47,000, and despite how "techy" and nice looking a Tesla may be, the more you do your homework the more you realize that there's far more competition out there offering far more value for your dollar.
I just pre-ordered a brand new 2023 bolt EUV premier trim that comes packed to the gills with every feature that it can, and thanks to the price cut it only cost me $43,000, which is $4,000 less than the MSRP price of a base model 3, and I couldn't be happier. It will serve my family well as a daily commuter, and it provides us with everything we're looking for in a family vehicle. I'm definitely glad I didn't jump into the Tesla craze and finance a car that would have had a monthly payment that mirrors a mortgage payment!
So if anyone else is in the market for an EV, definitely take the time to look at the competition, because at the exorbitantly high prices that Tesla keeps pricing their vehicles, you can get far more bang for your buck elsewhere.

    • @JaridOrgeron

@@JaridOrgeron More than anything I'll be charging at home. It's primarily going to be used as a daily commuter for my family, and to be perfectly honest there's more than enough charging stations in my neck of the woods should I ever find myself having to rely on them.
At the end of the day, I'm not dismissing Tesla in any way as I know that they are reliable and reputable cars, but they're also no longer available at a mass market friendly price, and until that changes the competition is going to take advantage of that.

Neat video, but unfortunately Chevrolet Bolt is a ripoff in Canada. The EUV costs just as much as an Ioniq 5 or a Kia EV6 or Kia Niro 2023 EV. I ended up just ordering a Kia EV6. No interest in paying Chevy 45,000$ for a car that is way smaller, has mediocre seating, and is missing most of the high end tech that an electric car should have.

I am considering leasing the Bolt EUV LT to get into the car and then might upgrade to a Premier (with SuperCruise and Sun/Sound package) or Equinox EV RS3 at a later time. Bolt SuperCruise isn’t the latest version. The newer system (on Cadillac Lyriq) can do lane changes so I am hopeful that the Equinox EV will have the more capable system.

The Super Cruise subscription will cost U.S. customers $25 per month on a standalone basis, meaning without another OnStar plan/subscription. Alternatively, it can be added to certain OnStar plans or bundles for $15 per month.
The need for a subscription is only now starting to come to light for Cadillac owners, since the very earliest Cadillac CT6 models with Super Cruise are only now coming out of the three-year included subscription period. Good review. I only disagree with one rather minor detail. I actually don't think the Bolt EV and EUV are hard to tell apart. The EUV has a much more prominent, masculine hood and higher beltline that rises boldly at the rear--relatively speaking lol. To be more specific, this is all relative to the rather egg-shaped Bolt EV. Neither is exactly sexy in their proportions, but the EUV has more angles from which it looks pretty decent.
Those are just my thoughts. Both are great value propositions and deserve to sell well even considering the (vastly overstated) controversy over battery fires (which remain statistically less likely to occur than in a conventional ICE vehicle, the margin just isn't as wide as it should be since EVs are designed NOT to catch fire whereas combustion vehicles are designed to burn the flammable liquids they are transporting. BIG difference.)

I beg to differ. I was really looking for an EV to replace my 17 that just got hit but wanted to go with new since a used car is pretty much the exact same price right now. @@UlexiteTVStoneLexite it's probably just a matter of how much I've looked at these things. Plus, different people's eyes notice different things. Some people are good with faces, some aren't. Personally what makes them easy to tell apart is that the Bolt EUV has a more pronounced SUV-like hood because the A pillars are pushed back, whereas the Bolt EV has a hood that flows straight into the windshield at pretty much the exact same angle (like a minivan). The EV also has the odd looking connected lighting elements. Not only are they connected to each other but they connect to the corner of the windshield. The EUV has two separate lighting elements that aren't connected to each other much less the windshield. Are they similar? Sure. Much the way brothers look similar. They certainly aren't twins though.
More important than that though, isn't it crazy how used and new prices are virtually the same??? Handy for people like you to be able to make the no brainer decision to move from used to new without paying a financial price to upgrade. Good on you!

I had a 2021 Bolt and sold it back after the recall. The 3 things I did not like were the seats. charging speed and suspension. I test drove and 2022 EUV recently and honestly, the seats were only marginally better charging speed not changed but the suspension was better. You ever test drive an ID.4? Extremely comfortable seats nice ride and decent suspension. The ID.4 entertainment system was a big miss and the acceleration was not thrilling (the bolt was much better) EV's for the price do not seem just OK not great. The one he drove was $37,685 thats a LOT of cash. RAV 4 hybrid at 29K is very nice. Or truck people can get a Ford Maverick for way less.

This is not impressive compared to the current EV options on the marketplace right now. If most folks are going to use as a commuter and do the Level 2 charging at home then the DC fast charging is less of an issue. Also rally is no comparison between ionic 5 and bolt euv. Ionic 5 has the dc fast charging and the build quality inside and out is top notch.

I guess since the Chevy Spark and Smart ForTwo ED are no longer in production in the US, the Bolt EUV can claim this title. I had thought that the Mini EV was one of the least expensive, but I think that it starts at $29k.
Now if only the Bolt had a faster Charger, it might actually make sense for a low end EV; 55kW is pathetic.
But still FAR better than the recharge rates of the Spark EV and ForTwo ED (which maxed out at 6 kW)

I feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle and a outrageous expense in the long run. Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. I wish I knew all this before I bought my car . Do your homework before buying !

I would suspect everyone is well aware of the need to replace those batteries eventually. But you save zillions on all the costs associated to a gas engine and transmission and brakes. So ... Electric is probably cheaper.

    • @toonman361

Even though I am a lib, I am less concerned with the environmental effect than the cost savings on gas and general efficiency. I am excited that the environment could eventually power my car but that's a ways off. I equate an EV with a laptop, not mechanical, more digital. And like any digital device, the tech will be obsolete in a short time (think 2010 EVs). I estimate around 8 years of optimum battery life. I may get less or maybe more.
