unfortunately that's so me at times. severe bullying in school emotionally scared me. I'm 27, after my break up a few months ago, where she cheated and instantly went to a relationship with a friend of mine, I went fully crazy. told everyone about it, wanted everybodys attention and was out for revenge against this guy. Now everybody is distancing from myself and I realize what fucked up narc I was the last months..
Personally I feel like there has to be more. My mother did not have even remotely of a traumatic childhood as I did, because of her, and I’m not a narcissist. Her life honestly was not that traumatic yet she behaves like her life has been horrifically traumatic, it wasn’t. I know all of the stories. What she did to me and what she allowed others to do to me was far more traumatic. Yet, she’s the only victim allowed. I think her brain is messed up. And I don’t know why, but maybe genetics? There has to be something more that has been set off and passed down.

They may have self entitlement at the root. Ego.
It's extreme childhood trauma. Disassociating is the coping mechanism - guarding their heart from good and bad is their basic play.
