Word up
This song is still fire in 2024. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Twenty years have passed, we're still here listening to this song. Smile empty soul is simply one of the best bands I know.
Well guess what I got the album just this year since the summer but it's the censored one oh well I'm okay with it still hard as f@#$.
P.S. in 2003 I didn't know who they are when I first them it was only on the radio.
20 years 😳 Gahdamn I feel geriatric 😭😅

Crazy how a song can take you to a different time and place.
And to another dimension of existence
Takes me back to the worst years of my life growing up in the early 2000's
Started listening to them when they came out. 23 yrs later I’m 36 and still love it,
It absolutely is, @DivirdGames!
2022 still blasting this classic banger at full volume 💯
Right there with ya brother
Me too!
Yep
My buddy Tyler Delrose is their drummer now! I taught that fucker how to drink!
Is this nick wolf from Michigan??
Who's listening in 2024? 🔥🔥🔥💯
Reminds me of high school, when this song was on every burned CD, and it was always a terrible sounding 128Kbps download from KaZaa.
+Erix7810 you blew my mind with the KaZaa drop i just recall limewire after napster
+Steve Banks Omg same! I remember Napster, then Bearshare (never used but was aware) then limewire and frostwire haha
+Erix7810 Just like the quality of the audio in this video. Get that 1411kb/s DOG
+Erix7810 My shit was from limewire, CDQ. (Still got a virus tho...)
+Erix7810 Should have used LimeWire lol... jk yea almost everything was low quality back then. Kids now these days are spoiled.
90's kid checking in. Still a fucking banger. Haven't listened to Smile Empty Soul in probably 15 years and still know every word to this album. Silhouettes really hits different. Cheers
born in 91 and coming back to this brings back some deep memories. car rides with my mom cruising down the highway smoking a marboral red windows down us kids in the back cherries flying by my head man was it a time to be alive...
😂
yea buddy couldnt of said it better
Born 91 as well march sir had a hard life so far about to be 32. Next yr my bday falls on easter
92… and if this ain’t the funniest most realist shit I have ever read! 😂😂 sameeee!!! Good times
EXACTLY! Damn..
I miss this era so hard.
Agreed
I miss u
Same 1990 on the money
@@ML-ks2lj I had a dream last night that I was in a house I had never been in, in the living room sitting in my underwear and a gorgeous girl walked in and started folding laundry and singing this song to me acapella, then she climbed on top of me and started making out with me. Weirdest part is, I am 36 and I haven't heard this song or thought about it in over a decade. Suffice to sat it was a awesome dream.
@@motorman85 strange things with dreams is if you dream about a person you actually have seen that person at some point in time in your life even if you don't remember them. Last dream I had was actually like looking into a fast flowing river with all the flat spots and swirls and stuff only the water was actually every face I had ever seen in my life, people I knew people I have remembered and strangers that I don't even know or really remember meeting it was crazy
Sean explains that in this song word "drugs" can mean anything you're living for - no matter, drugs, alcohol, relationship, any activity. And that he himself is not a drug user, but for him it is music. So, I loved it!..
He sold out tho like everyone else... Wake up dumbass
Ronnie Dunlap what do you mean? Sean is thriving, touring everywhere making new music. SES forever 🤘
If you think he doesn’t get high you’re trippin lol
It was a line he knew would sell. And it worked. But maybe its a little insensitive since mostly 18yo liked this when it came out.
@@ronniedunlap9789 he didn't sell out. Still touring. Saw him at Midland.
This was a fucked up time in my life.
Leads me towards a feeling of a dark sort of bittersweet nostalgia when I hear this.
I know the feeling you’re describing. Like seeing the battlefield you survived, from up on a hill years later.
Seriously man. I remember driving when the sun was coming up because I had been up all night at a rave and this song was in the radio. Those were some seriously dark times in my life. A roller-coaster. Extreme highs on top of the world fallowed bu extreme despair
Call the wambulance
Kind of the whole meaning of the song too
I used to drink and listen to this song. Now I don't drink and I don't miss being like but this song will always be so so good. Hell its 5am.
"I do it for the drugs. I do it just to feel alive. I do it for the love that I get from the bottom of a bottle."
This. This is life.
Yeah
Yeah but you can't take this to the extreme. If you do, you find yourself with an addiction. That is a bad ass monkey on your back that you don't want. Love yourself and just enjoy the music. Don't embrace the lifestyle because it could kill you and make you lose everything!! Love to you ❤

Ok youngsters im 46 & in 2003 when this song came out i was in my prime. Supporting local bay area bands, bar hopping downtown, phone blowing up with hott chicks, a real free spirit, had alot of friends! Man this song? Wow what a time in my life! At work rocking out sons!!!! Boooom
I was 14 when I listened to this song. Now I'm 25. I used to be so emotional and angry. Now when I listen to this, I just think about how I've gotten so much better. I'm actually happy now.
Sugar Skulls its always good to hear someone has found some happiness mate!
Cheers man. Glad you got out. I'm still working on it 15 years later.
Sugar Skulls I am more anxious now. Life doesnt get better, only gets worse.
Same man. Good luck.
Sound like a whiny little b****
the lead singer looks like every kid i knew in a band in 2003

Decent song, wouldn't exactly call it a masterpiece, lol! If this is a masterpiece, what is Stairway to heaven or the likes of? This was just decent commercial rock of the early 2000s.
Turned 28 today and still jamming to this masterpiece
I was 20 when this song came out and I’m 39 now and still jamming to this kickass single

I am so glad Sean didn't sell out to Warner. He is a true artist, and forever underrated.
What do you mean sell out to Warner? I thought he was signed to Atlantic for the first album?
To everyone listening to this song, don't ever let someone else tell you you are not worth it. You are worth it and you can do it.

rock is dead my friend. music today is fake, all about the money. hopefully the raw emotion and feelings music artists put in their music in the 90s and early 2000s will make a comeback.
@@berserker1175 they are touring this year guys, get yoursellf to a show!
Shit in AZ rock is still going strong! I just went to a Slipknot Show in August here and it Fucking was AMAZING!!!💗 Not gonna lie though, im from Atlanta GA and 3 years ago I went to a Korn Breaking Benjamin Show and there were so few people there that the Lawn had to be CLOSED and there were only enough people to fit in PIT Area!!! Growing up in Atlanta GA this was DEVASTATING!!! When I was in high school in 2000to 2004 the shows sold out Every TIME!!! It was crazy and so amazingly Awesome! l wish I would have had a camera back then to show... I would give anything to go back to those times again so that I could truly slow down and appreciate it ALL!!! 😭 The world is so ugly now and its tragic
I don’t know, but there’s still stuff like seether, mushroomhead, and murderdolls.

Boston Manor - 1s and 0s
Rock back then was way better 🔥🔥👌🤟
I bought a Smile Empty Soul cd years ago. My son latched on to it. He is now a lead singer. His band won, "best new band", "best rock band", he won "frontman of the year" and "most supportive person in music scene". So thank you SES.
I miss this kind of music so fuckin much it's so good
why do you miss it? theres still lots of generic bands like this out today
But it wasn't anywhere near as generic when they were big
ain't no band that sounds as good as this band out there today, that's for damn sure this was like beginning of high school for me, all them punk rock bands and any rock was good during that era,
Goodliferacing Me too man me too
andy jackson "generic" back when songs were like this is MUCH more welcome to me than the mainstream generic stuff thats coming out these days.
This will always hold a place in my heart in some nostalgic way. My formative years may have been dominated by heavier tunes, but when tracks like this broke through, I always knew it was because the song came from some place real. Thanks for the memories guys.
This is the most early 2000s thing I have seen.
This is easly in my top 10 favourite songs of all time

*tht moment when you hear a song and realize that youre no longer a teenager, youre 22 and this felt like a lifetime ago
22 is still hella young, bro. You have noooooooo idea. Of course, I thought I was getting older when I was 22. So silly
@@token555 considering you don't know him or what he might have experienced in that time, to say he has no idea is very ignorant.
Experiences aren't measured by age.
He could have hit 50 years of bullshit before even turning 15 years old. Its is subjective from person to person.
It's like me saying, " you're probably in your 40's. You're still so young, YOU have no idea what life entails."
Some people hit 70 and still have no idea, some people grasp this world in adolescence/teen years.
Respect his view of his own experience.
I was 22 when this song came out climbing up in my own band. This song reminds me of frat parties and keg stands. Now I’m 40 and the last shows I played were with Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean and it makes me wonder what happened to the guy when this song came out. I feel like we don’t get nostalgic things anymore. When everything is pop culture nothing is. Now that you’re 26, you’re not old, you’re still in the prime of your life and you’ll probably be nostalgic about a song from this year in 10 years. It’s a viscious cycle. But enjoy it.
No imagine finding this song when u where 18yrs old and now ur 34
This song never gets old.

Turning 38 this year, seems like yesterday when this song came out. Early 2000s a great time, indeed!!
This album came out while I was in Iraq on my second deployment. I only had a burnt CD and walkmen. I'd come home and drink tell the next deployment, 7 combat combat deployments later wow. This song brings me back to a dark scary place. Drugs weren't an option, so I drank myself to sleep. 4 yrs sober, and I'll never forget the darkness I have locked away in myself.
Why is this song so dang catchy? I listen to it once and find myself singing it three days later. And I love it.
I remember my mom buying me this CD and me going to my room and blaring it for hours as a 13 year old angsty kid. great times. 😂

Shocked this doesn't have ten times as many views. This band was the shit when I was in high school in 2006. Too many fuckers out there listening to bieber and wiz kalifa to grasp the crisp sound of these classics.
I like wiz Khalifa but I'm 23 now and heard this song when I was in about 5th-6th grade and can always go back to this song when I need feel something again. I'm not sure why this kind of music hit me as a kid now that I'm an adult I sill wonder why this music caught my attention but it definitely helps see things through
because most rock speaks the feelings of teenage kids who have more on their plate than anyone at their age should ever have to deal with.
i didnt have the worst childhood although it couldve been alot better but youre right i loved the angry aggressive music it was an outlet for whatever i was dealing with at the time
Jake Haacke That's sooo true
