This is a fantastic video that explains one of the big benefits of resin printing and why I try to load up the buildplate with as many files as I can. Will for sure be sharing this with folks just getting started with resin printing
There is also another thing that isn't mentioned here and that is that printing multiple prints in one go also reduce the wearout of your LCD screen as opposed to printing them one by one.
eh its more about maximizing your time with what's on the build plate. if you didn't buy a shit printer, you don't need to worry about the lcd screen at all....
So it means when modeling a singular big human miniature, its better to rotate it horizontally so we can print it faster am i wrong? Time extends by the height of the model i guess…
My experience in this area on a MP2 is that overstacking the build plate can result in some failure more often then not, that in turn creates a clean up process, more wasted time, wasted resin etc...I stick with generally 60-75% full build area now with very very odd failure occurrences.
I'm in the process of making a mammoth tank from command and conquer 3, and I was concerned that I was trying to print many of the parts in a batch. I was trying to figure out if it's better when printing multiple objects to keep them spaced close together or farther apart for successful prints. I tried to print 9 different parts filling most of the build plate, and only 1 large part and a smaller part printed.
While I know you didn't include the costs of post-print activities in the per-model time, just an interesting thought: similar to how the assembly line cut down on effective time per-item, the washing, support removal, and curing times could likely be done in the time another batch of figures is printed. In such a manner, those costs are effectively negligible (assuming subsequent batches continue to be printed).
Can we asume that if you print whole bed size - volume of print or speed per volume ratio is MUCH more with SLA than in FDM? Multiple times? One cannot print with filament statue that size in 8 minutes in any way?
when you say additional parts do you mean adding surports ? also do you still use this resin and do u use water on its own or anything else to clean it? im looking at ANYCUBIC 3D Printer Resin LCD UV 405nm Rapid Photopolymer for LCD/DLP/SLA 3D Printers, 1000g Grey as well it be a 2K printer i be testing on first thanks so looking at which resin to get for it or if i should get the same make printer resin they do but it seems more limited to find and comes in smaller bottles mainly
Can you do this but with different stl files. Like fill up the build plate with multiple but different figures? Everytime I try my printer will not recognize the sliced file. But a standalone figure works just fine. There must be. A way. Printing each figure I need independently would take an enormous amount of time. When the figures are relatively small and there's plenty of room for them on the build plate.
I tried half that many on my mono X 6k and it blew my FEP. I'm going to try more again next time maybe it was too tight. I'm also using the ptfe lube now so just maybe I'll have better luck.
I'm using a photon mono to 3d print stuff. When I print only one object it prints reallly well, but when I bulk print multiple copies of the same object, or even different objects, most of the prints fails somehow. The most commom problem is to detach from supports and warp. Any idea on what is going on?
Idk exactly why, but I have the same model and the exact same problem. I did some research on internet and the only thing I could find was to print 3 minis max
Perhaps your retract speed is to high and it tears of the mini's from the support, up until a week I had never even heard the suggestion of lowering the retract speed but since I have done it I have finally been able to print bigger mini's using thin supports as opposed to thick ones
What about toxic emissions during the process and waste sent to the water network? These kind of printers will be an another environmental catastrophy.
@@jamesmims7990 there are multiple ways to add more then one model to chitubox, atleast in the versions I'm using, the ones I know of are, left top corner opens a submenu click on the open tab and you can add additional STLs if the STLs are in one map you can select multiple files at once, you could also open the map where you keep your STL files and litterly drag the STL files onto an already opened application of chitubox I really like doing this if my files are in multiple maps, if you want to print the same model multiple times there is a function in the top bar slightly of the centre to clone the selected model

Right? It's such a great hack for saving time!
There is also another thing that isn't mentioned here and that is that printing multiple prints in one go also reduce the wearout of your LCD screen as opposed to printing them one by one.
That's a great point!

Great video, it will help the beginners such as me get to know the point of resin printing easier and clear.Thank you andrew.
This really shows the power of resin vs filament printing

I'm *just* getting into 3D Printing, and I figured this was a no brainer. Like, this should be common sense. Thank you for confirming! :D
It’s surprisingly not as common as you think! Hope this video helped!

Bummer! Sounds like you’ve had a lot of problems with large builds. That hasn’t been my experience so far!

Nice! I also have this model and I can't wait to try it out. Thanks, guy!
You got it!

Right? The ability to process parts in batches is a pretty big deal, and having a large format wash / cure station makes the process *super* fast!
Very interesting, and I like your new army :-)
I need every one of them to keep Virginia at bay when her food bowl gets low!
Did you change exposure settings when you did 24? I am finding when I try to print a tray full of models some stick to the fep.
I've seen another video where they add a second "floor" using big supports to double the print volume used as well
That's probably @Uncle Jessy, his video on that technique is great!
@@AndrewSink you are correct and I must say after watching that video I don't know why I never thought of that before
Can we asume that if you print whole bed size - volume of print or speed per volume ratio is MUCH more with SLA than in FDM? Multiple times? One cannot print with filament statue that size in 8 minutes in any way?
Awesome! So can I print different models at the same time?
You sure can!
@@AndrewSink Thanks, I am beginner and any recommendation for midsize reliable printer?
How does it know how much money it cost you to print can someone explain that better to me

Sure! It’s based on height, not number of parts!

Yikes! Hopefully you can get that sorted out!
We have recently brought a Creality HALOT-ONE printer. Will that work the same way as the elegoo?
It sure will! Have fun with it!
i tried to print 2 at once, only one printed. do i have to hit the select all box before slicing? or did i do something else wrong?
Interesting. Try looking at the sliced file and verifying the second model is in there!
Can you print different sizes at once ??
You sure can! The print time will primarily be determined by the height of the hallway part!

Sounds like the platform may be slightly out of level? Have you tried printing a single part at various points on the platform?

Well for idiots like me I was looking to see how to add more than one model to the build plate. I didn't see that part.
Which slicer are you using? ‘Ctrl+C’ and ‘Ctrl+P’ works for most slicers to duplicate models!
@@AndrewSink Thanks for reply. I just started this 3d printing and struggling with some things. I am using chitubox.

I'm not sure the title of your video is accurate, or at least it's misleading. You aren't printing faster, you're mass printing.
I'm in full agreement with you
At the beginning I thought this video is about something clever ... 🤦🏻♂️
