Trigger looks great, what a wonderful guitar, with no pick guard over the years the wood has been worn away and the sound Willie gets out of it is amazing
I know exactly what he’s singing about here. It’s called heartbreak and the only solution is to drown in alcohol for awhile until that heartache goes away. It could take a week or a month but the Whiskey river is all you got. Willie Nelson knows it because he lived it.
@@barbc1638 I was at the 1974 acl concert. I was 17 and a junior in highschool, my grandfather had an extra ticket and I had a huge test the next but decided to go. Best decision I ever made!
I've always loved the Shotgun Willie version. Who's the guy on the bender Telecaster. That is pretty incredible. Love how they're playing off each other.
Oh man, what a wonderful collection of clips. I love 1970s Willie. I've been looking for a long time for his 1974 picnic clips (which I also found, thanks!) but had no idea about this appearance. Thanks so much for uploading.
I know the rocked up version, and I liked hearing the more formed version...looking at the guys that they are on the same page. I do that when I'm singing at some bar with my band mate's
No, unfortunately not. The second Reel of the taping got lost according to KERA so the show ends with the medley of "Hello Walls/ Mr. Record Man/ One Day at a Time".

Jody Payne's Tele sounds so sweet, not to mention his backing vocals, smooth.
WILLIE WAS 41 YEARS OLD HERE, BORN IN 1933 ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA.
Now we know!
We love Willie Nelson 👍
Anyone notice how Willie doesn't sing it like this anymore? He takes a breath and pauses after "mind" and "dry". I love both ways!
It's really slowed up from the current version. The Austin City Limits version is about as classic as it gets.
@@garyrasberryjr.552 You are absolutely right about the ACL version. There's a lot of energy in that performance. I love it.
Definitely more R&B than the more modern version...

@@aidenstobaugh3686 That is a classic concert and one of my all time favorites. I'm sure it is one of the highlights of your life. Thanks for sharing
How young Jody Payne looks in this vid wow.
I’m so glad Willie grew he’s hair back.
One of my favorite songs 😍💗. I sing this song all the time Iove it. Fits my personality 🤪😂🤣🥴🙄🙃
A young handsome Willie with a guitar still in good shape.
The hole in Trigger was in a reduced state, yes?
Thanks for sharing. It's good concert.
You're very welcome, Toni!

I'd like to hear some of the picnic stuff too. There were some really good lineups in the 70s and early 80s.

The beginning is a little different than I am used to. That said,it is still a good song.
A++++
Do you have a clip of Shotgun Willie from this concert?
