I've been getting really into Willie lately and wow, I was not expecting to cry today.
I think it's one of the most beautiful country songs ever written.
Dad and I sang this every weekend, dads gone now but I still sing it every Sunday in his memory. Miss you dad.
Last year in Wichita I made my kids go see Willie in concert at our River fest - they were blown away at an 89 year old man on on stage and singing songs that Everyone knew and loved - I hope that helps pass this music on forever ….or at least another 100 years ….😢
Willie looks great and sounds even better in this Austin City Limits from 1976, trigger just has a small hole in it at this point lol. Love the piano over the top from the 2min mark. Such a good song, one of Willie's best.

Really ... and honestly ... there is Willie Nelson ... and then everyone else!!! In my high school yearbook I wrote that my ultimate fantasy was for him to sing this to me, while I am sitting alone at a table at the front of the stage in a saloon somewhere. In my mind ... I am there right now ... and it's freaking amazing!!!

That hole in his guitar grew with his hair and beard. I loved it when this man would wander into Floore's Country Store just because he wanted to "air it out" musically. We would all be two-stepping or drinking beer and in he would walk, sometimes with his whole band, so he could work out some new material. Of course, it turned into a jam session with the band hired to play that night, and he would play all his classics, but back then they weren't really classic, yet.
Willie Nelson is a kind person and very giving, as evidenced by his simply wanting to play for free on a regular basis. He loves his fans. He loves pretty much anyone, even if you disagree with him. He is a gentle soul, and I wish more humans were like him.
I loved growing up in San Antonio and being a part of the very laid back social setting that predominates there.

#Holton345 I have seen Willie in concert on the patio at Flores at least three times. The place is small so of course it is always standing room only. Each time I saw some familiar faces standing there in front of the stage with me. I remember a young woman in particular because she had a very colorful tattoo of an owl on her chest. One time pre concert a very talkative man who said that he was a math teacher at the Nothside ISD was the first to light up a joint. Another time it rained for about an hour during the concert but Willie never skipped a beat. 😍 Love that Willie!

Man.....if I had a dollar for every time my parents listened to this when I was a kid....but the funny thing is, I actually love this song now....and when I was about 15 I really got into the album he did called Stardust.... absolutely beautiful!!! Maybe the black hash helped....

We’ve seen him three times, twice in small East Texas venues. He is so much fun, and he interacts with his audience. My son and I were so tickled to get an acknowledgement from him, waving at him from the audience. I love how he sings his hits, Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die, then at the end, we all “have church” with lively gospel sing-a-long. You can’t help but love this man, and I’m sad that he’s nearing the end of his life, but a life well-lived. God willing, we can keep him just a while longer. Love you, Willie Nelson.

I'm no acoustic guitar player, but I have been playing hair guitar Kramer guitars and Marshall amps since 1985. The tone of that guitar is absolutely amazing. Might be one of the most famous acoustics in existence. It's uniqueness is on par with SRVs tone. INSTANTLY identifiable. Great song.

There's something special about Mr. Willie Nelson performing "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain." The sound of that beat up old guitar and the inflection and tone of his voice. No doubt in my mind that he didn't write the song, but it should have been written for Willie Nelson.
I think it was Hank Williams (Senior) song, wasn't it? No idea if he wrote it though. From one legend to another? I wonder who will be worthy to carry it forward for the next 50 years or so?
