sugars are NOT all the same. when I sweeten my meals with either raw unfiltered honey or coconut palm sugar, I don't get a significant post-prandial glucose spike that I'll get when consuming white table sugar. the result is I don't get a sugar high followed by an energy crash.
good lord how do u even know this ? a glucose spike what in the hell is that ? A sugar high is a myth. your comments are beyond disturbing but I am 74 and recall when NOBODY obsessed about every bite they put in their mouths. If you have a normal weight none of this would be of any concern.
@@donnasherwood283 how do I know this? personal experience. I know how I feel after eating certain foods. now if you're saying that I'm a liar then that's up to you..
Monk fruit aka luo han guo is used in traditional chinese medicine. It is sweeter than sugar, safe for diabetes, cooling and healing for chronic thirst, dry cough, thick lung inflammation phlegm., Western docs don’t know or appreciate the ancient remedies from Asia. Don’t expect them to know how to cook unless they listen to their Gramma or study cuisines of the world.
I have honey instead of regular sugar, it still spiked up my blood sugar. So I completely avoid any kind of sweetener. I sweetened my oatmeal with berries.
I don't care for the calories, but my problem with sugar is that it has negative effects on the skin, it ages it and slows down the production of collagen. Fruits don't have enough sugar/ have lots of fiber, so I'm not worried eating fruits. But would be great to add something in bakings that is sweet but not that unhealthy for skin.
Wow I like the "use common sense when using sugar first, and then think about which sugars are bit more beneficial and which are more junk, though sugars in large quantities are not so good so dont over do it approach." I have been trying to explain this approach to people since I lost 100lb and people dont seem to get it. Balance and common sense is the key.
Kobacha plant has a natural occurring sugar and is probably the best sugar it aids in weight loss. It's generally used in Japan . Try looking up the brand called Bocha Sweet.
@TheCookingDoc I came here to learn which is better for my overall sugar intake so that I can still have sugar without using a sweetner. I would like to use a sugar instead of a sweetner, like monkfruit. That is not what this video helped me with. Do you have any advice with this?
Good video Doc. Sugar is sugar. I try and use Monk Fruit sugar on some things, but other foods it just doesn't work. I agree getting rid of the cola drinks, etc that are processed is the best idea.
How do we know how much additional sugar is added to a food via carbohydrates. For example, if a product says 7gr natural sugar and elsewhere says 20gr carbohydrates-how much sugar is actually in the product?
So I didn’t hear you say anything wrong with pure Maple syrup so I will choose that eat it wisely and sparingly I lost 240 lbs on my own and almost done! Thanks for this video
I like regular sugar in my coffee but I don’t have a sweet tooth for candy or chocolate anymore like I used to when I was younger so idk honey as a substitute in coffee in consistent measured amounts might be better than regular sugar thanks for the advice though. And I don’t use that store bought creamer crap that stays in your system I use half and half or heavy whipping cream as a substitute for crappy store bought creamer.
There is no "healthy" form of Sugar. All types of sugar raise Insulin levels which in term makes you prone to weight gain and diabetes. The only way to lessen (take note: LESSEN) the bad effects of sugar in our diet is if the sugar source you consume comes with fiber along with it. Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that dissolves very slowly so it wont spike your insulin levels that much as compared to eating foods high in the glycemic index such as bread, pasta and pastries. We're talking fruits and vegetables here; more on the vegetables and lesser on the fruits since fruits have a higher sugar content than vegetables.
What wrong is that we don't exercise enough. I grew up in farm. My dad was a farmer. He drank coffee with sugar in the morning before heading to farm around 6ish am. He walked to farm about 2 miles ... he's retired now, 80 years is still healthy as horse.... If you just drink coffee and lounging all day.... welll that's bad. Drink coffee add a little honey, then have wild sex...or exercise, you should be fine.
Stevia, monk fruit or dates syrup is my go lately and raw unfiltered honey, I rather drink fruits juice than a can of soda anyday. Again all this in moderation with a balance diet
The healthiest type of sugar is as little added sugar and the kind your body is made to process, ultimately. And as for "healthiest", that depends what health aspect you're asking about. Cellular level? Stay the hell away from fructose! In general? Meh, they ALL have a similar negative effect.
Sugar is sugar, and all the others too..honey, maple syrup, agave etc, etc. stevia is a green; plant and heart safe. High carbs, eating too frequently also spikes blood sugar.
When he says, coconut sugar is not any better for you than regular sugar 🤣 Coconut sugar comes from a phosphorus plant. That’s why it’s better than regular sugar.
Remember when we use to have a balance diet & a Cake or Pie on Sunday or for a Special Day & it was Nice for our Lives... But Now it Seem that a World of Greed has Pushed us into a Twilight Zone of a Lost World at the Super Market... We Are Not Eating Our Grand-ma's Types of Food... According to endocrinologist Dr. Robert Lustig, sugar has zero benefits or necessity to any living creature on the planet. The body naturally makes glucose so none needs to be added by way of sugar. Vicki
Brown sugar and Raw Honey are definitely better than white sugar. Stevia is definitely better than white sugar. I do not eat a lot of it. But adding a quarter spoon of brown sugar to coffee just has a better effect on my cut body. I used to add white sugar, which was bad news bear. Be precise when making these videos. Science is not always correct/right. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you Van and Luna. I use brown sugar and honey I. My two cups of coffee or hot tea after quitting white sugar awhile ago now. . It s better. In.my quota of 2 cups. The second cup I put in a feDpoln of honey, I put one iny mouth as well.
Do you mean actual brown sugar? Or raw sugar that happens to be brown from lack of processing? Actual brown sugar is literally white sugar with molasses added so….still white sugar.

I agree with this. Coconut sugar with cinnamon on apples is amazing. Better than smashing a snickers bar.
Same here…white sugar whacks my blood sugar all over…coconut, and agave does not. For me.

it's good, but still the brain needs sugar to function, but anyways we still have sugar thru the fruits or the toothpaste.
Sugar isn't inherently bad. Just the form it's in and the amount. Just moderate your approach and try and get your sugar from healthy sugars.
We need glucose and the body makes it naturally in the liver. We have zero need for sugar. Vicki

What about allulose? Doesn’t affect blood glucose levels
It actually helps blood sugar.

Why does everyone equate calories with health? The advice is sound, but calories are only your enemy if you're constantly remaining in a high surplus.
Exactly
Exactly, I don't care about calories but about the negative side effects of skin and body tissue.
How about Monk fruit sweetners?

I always read the “added sugar” line
He was right when he said that's all his opinions .
Based on science, sure. What are you insinuating?
How about Stevia? Is it not better than sugar?
Did he mention something about Stevia🤔
From watching this video, agave is not a bad choice.
And what you eat it with will also affect the digestion of it.
All sugar is not SUGAR. Granulated sugar is difficult for the body to process vs that which is natural. I'm a biologist.
He also uses fruit as an example without even touching on the fact that the fruit fiber also helps in the processing of said fructose.
What about date sugar?
A failed biologist? You must have a YT channel? Sugar is sugar. Im a former beekeeper.
What about date sugar to make a cake ?
Date sugar?
Portions of anything counts including the amount of fruit one eats.
