    I had one for 14 months and it was ok. It did what I needed it to do. My print count is at just over 900 pages. It was working fine one day, the next day it would not print red at all. I tried print head cleaning multiple times and nothing. Now my maintenance box is full and it won't do anything. I contacted customer support, but I am 2 months outside of the warranty. I can try and get ahold of a business that works on epson printers (per customer service) but it is 160 miles away. I am beyond frustrated and upset. The only thing I had done differently, was installing the newest firmware update after making a few items, the next morning I had no red. I don't even understand how one could affect the other, but I have never had any issues before. I am now looking at a sawgrass. This was the second epson f170 I had gone through. Luckily the first was as soon as I had gotten it and it was still under warranty.

    One issue with Epson Eco tank printers are they use only CYMK color space unless you get the ones that use 6 colors for photo printing. I have 3 Epson printers and the only one I have that prints true colors is my old 1400 wide format which has 6 colors. I can use different profiles to suit my needs.
    RGB mode creates the maximum color combinations, with 16.7 million colors compared to CMYK's 16,000 possibilities

    Hello, can you tell me about the F170 vs the Seagrass? My question is for the F170 printer… does it automatically do self checks and automates to prevent ink from clogging? Can this printer sit for months if not used for a while? I have read that the sawgrass prevents ink clogging… does the F170 do the same? Does the F170 come with its own software?
    Brenda

    • @ITSuppliesINC
      @ITSuppliesINC  5 месяцев назад

      Hi @wiltonwarrior58, the EPSON F170 may do an auto cleaning before you print. It is always a good idea to run a nozzle check before printing. The printer can sit for a while but as with many printers, it is always a good idea to turn it on and run a nozzle check to make sure lines are clear. About once a month should be OK depending on your environment where the printer is. The F170 comes with a print driver.

    This video is very, very misleading. The Epson F170 doesn't offer a bypass tray like the SawGrass for larger prints, it doesn't have auto cleaning like the SawGrass, and the software is limited to what is already owned by the user. The SawGrass offers Print manager, and Creative Studios, along with the initial purchase. Also, there are alternate cartridges that can now be purchased, which are cheaper, and bridges the gap even closer between the two.
    Epson, make the F170 easy to acquire instead of providing it in specialty shops, bundle it with some nice software, offer a byoass tray, and you might have a winner. If not, I think the SawGrass is the better buy.

      @@ITSuppliesINC Hello. I finally received it. Everything is going smooth. I use textile for everything because rigid is horrible. I gave up looking for Epson paper and when I finally found it they wanted almost 30 dollars so that was a hard pass. I'm finishing up my koala paper and I'm starting htvront paper. I'm not sold on that paper. Sadly I now have it in both sizes so I will try to keep using it. I've always used koala but with the Epson ink it doesn't seem compatible. When I do tumblers regardless of time and temp it will either over cook or under cook or burn under the bands. I have used htvront and I have not noticed that. There was on area on a tumbler it seemed to look a little brown at the rim of it but very very tiny area. The colors to me seem duller than my kaola paper. My next step is trying a sub paper. I'm in a f570 group and people seem to like that paper. Others that use the f170 in there say that's all they will use so I may need to switch. Overall, I'm ecstatic over this printer. It literally was plug in set up and go. No more printer settings and hex codes rgb codes. What a nightmare. I am very pleased with this printer! Saved me hours and tons of polyester.
