@@user45g-4c5rf and F-16 wasn't designed for BVR, but after some upgrades it became decent in that regard. Same goes with 23ML/MLA/MLD. Those were upgrades that increased, among other things, maneuverability. ML, though not as maneuverable as F-5E, should be on par with phantom with slatted wing

I've seen from the leak list britan might get a mig-21 bison which can carry mig29 missiles , so imagine what they might stick in a 12.0 russian premium

Couldn't disagree more on the "Not touching" of premiums. WG titles do that, and that's how you end up with BS Overpowered premiums that get removed from sale and introduce FOMO on every new premium added to the game. I'd rather not have that here.

The turn rate of the MiG-27s were already rather underwhelming but with the nerf it's just gonna make it into even worse of a bus. Probably not as bad as the Tornado but still.

@@bzorf5984 I always use manual when I get into dogfights. Even so the MiG-27 is just really heavy compared to the ML series.

But what I meant to say was that the Tornados (IDS and ADV, the GR.1 has weaker engines) got a highter TWR than mig 23s and with manual control if you swept the wings completely and put combat flaps you can keep up a fight with even an MLD, so they arent a bus as you said.

@@bzorf5984 Why are you comparing the Tornado with the MiG-23s, those are full on missile busses designed to shoot down bombers or to attack ground targets when I was comparing the MiG-27 to the MiG-23s. The MiG-27K is even more painful since it faces F-15s that should've been 12.7 to begin with.

F111 pilots have said that it turns worse than the aardvark. Assuming that is true, that is a really outstandingly bad turn rate.
Yes... That's why I've always been annoyed to see the Mig23 run so well in WT, when we all knew that irl it was a flying brick. But hey, Gaijin was always doing anything just because he was Russian and just to sell premium.
I’m pretty sure I heard once that East German MiG-23 pilots had to come with tactics specifically built around the assumption that their planes could not dogfight with anything other than an F-104.

Before they dropped their bombs on a base as well.
Neither planes could turn in real life. Phantoms were stable at high speed, but the moment they got slow they turned into a boat. Most Phantoms never even carried a gun. Despite the appearance, Mig 23's were basically the same but without the being stable part. The US actually had Mig 23's that they would use to train their pilots against the soviets and they discovered that they could barely pull G's.
Out of the two, the 23's were a lot more busted in WT but they had to be like that because Gaijin rushed to add the F14 before the new Top Gun movie to make some quick buck, despite the Tomcat having no real counter in the game at that time. They decided to nerf it a year later when the meta has changed.
@@saltycracker2344 The US only had Mig-23M/MFs, not the upgraded MLs which had significantly better performance. Also, while navy phantoms didn't carry guns, all USAF F4E derivatives had them built in and earlier models started carrying gunpods very soon into the vietnam war, due to poor missile performance.
Also, I bet that they didn't "randomly decide to nerf them a year later", they're gonna add a new soviet premium jet and need people to buy it when it comes out.

I might be in the minority, but politics aside this is a good thing. The MiG-23 was one of the worst fighters fielded by the USSR in real life. It was straight up dangerous to attempt maneuvering in it, and US test pilots hated flying it. A phantom would easily out dogfight it, it was basically a Russian F-104.
I think changing the premiums is valid no matter the cost. If they are incorrect and they only now caught it, it's fair to change in my book. The idea that premiums can't be changed because people spent money on them or because they are 60+ USD, to me personally, is stupid, they should be changed whenever something is worth changing or needs to be changed, so i personally never see why people get angry
It's not worth changing and doesn't need to be changed. It's been around for a year already and I never heard people complaining it turned too well. This is just so they can add a higher BR premium for more money and make sure people buy that instead of the ML.

Although I agree with you. It is totally fine not to be ok with the stats changing. That’s like buying an all year pass to Disney, just for them to say, “oops you actually can’t use it for anything other than Tuesday afternoons”. It’s basically false advertisement.
I think that changes like this are warranted, but I do think that, in the case of a premium, players should be offered the chance to “return” the plane for a partial refund.

First the mig 29, now the mig 23 ml, both are on of my favourite aircraft to play just cause they are so fun to fly the mig 29 can get away with this shit but a mig 23 not being able to out preform an f5 like it’s supposed to just sucks I’ve beat mirage 2 k’s f-14a’s mig29’s and even done f-16’s now I’m not sure this can even beat the kurnass 2k being the best dogfighting phantom in game the us bias is really strong, y’all have rank 8 prem that shouldn’t be able to beat the mig 29 but here we are

@@Rocketracoon809 ussr captured a fully functional f5e and tested it against mig23 , although the f5 was able to beat it initially , it was still possible to beat the f5 in mig23 , then mig23 mld was able to beat it easily. (which was developed later iirc)

It would only make sense that they are doing this to make a phantom vs Mig 23 meta for 11.3 way more even. Its not gonna be as bad as you all say considering it will still perform well just not on the level of the Mig 21Bis or F5 and it makes more sense.

Some say that MiG-21SMT is underperforming according to 21MF manuals. But who cares - snail needs nerfs.
A similar bug report for MiG21 is also waiting, don't get too excited.
I really dont see an issue with this nerf. There's no way the mig 23 irl could out rate the F5. It's an interceptor, not a jet-powered zero.
The Nerf makes some sense, I was always surprised how well the 23 handled dogfights in this game, given in real life the plane was supposedly a lead sled at least per the USAF pilots that few captured examples.

Gaijin has done this multiple times in the past. The one that I remember most is their nerfs of the IS-6 after 6+months of it being OP and farming purchases from the store.
Su-17 and MiG-21Bis will also get similar nerf as they are also over performing in sustained turn rate. Especially su-17 is doing 40% better than it should.
Before the 23ML came out I had already grinded out the whole tree with the su11 and mig 21 smt talisman combo. It was especially easy because that’s when the A10 spam was extremely prominent

Good riddance, 23BN is garbage, doesnt speed up beyond M1.1, doesnt hold speed and it takes ages to regain it. If you try to use it against other mig23 it will stall itself out while other mig is still above 700kmh.

I grinded the soviet tree with the Su-25k and it wasnt bad at all and i was playing it as a fighter. After this nerf I would probs recommend people to go with that

@@nathaaabit’s for turn rate as well, for instance the Gripen has 27deg/s sustained turn rate which is almost equal to maximum instantaneous turn of this plane irl, F-15 has 25deg/s max sustained turn rate, irl it has 18deg/s, Su-27 has max 23.5deg/s, irl it has 18deg/s etc etc

Fortunately, I got a lot of use out of the Migs from the German line, especially the Mig-23 MLA, I always play with it again after moments of frustration in 12.0, it's a very balanced and fun jet to fly, it will be sad if it is actually nerfed, just like the Doritos Saab jet...

Well then imagine a player who just bought F-5C yesterday to grind out US TT and today they removed flares from it (cause C one never had flares, E is the first F-5 with flares), increased lift induced drag and stall speed and fixed damage model. So yesterday it was one of the most (or the most) broken prems/planes of the game that allows to grind the entire tree in a week without using a single brain cell and today it’s a useless flareless slow plane, in other words - food for pretty much any 10.0+ plane. Is that fair for those who bought it a day ago? Firstly, they should remove it from the market for at least a month so that those who just bought it can grind the tree and only after that they should change the FM and put it on sale again

It comes for British TT so not 21-93, maybe another 23 (it also has modifications similar to 21-93 that allows it to use 73’s, 77’s and 27’s) or something like naval version of 29 - 29K or Yak-41M with 6 better missiles instead of 4 (2 77’s + 2 ER’s + 2 73’s) or…. it can be another useless attacker/bomber like Su-24 that will make 12.0 looks the same as 11.0 rn with that F-4S spam
The mig 23 being so good is completely opposite of its irl stats. I for one am glad there is adjustment towards real figures yet I can't help but think the adjustments only happen when new premiums are close. Better late than never, but they are definitely following the cod model of nerf old pay to wins to sell new ones.
The LAST viable dogfighter in the Soviet tree that isn't the Yak-141 is getting nerfed into the ground in one fell swoop while F-15s, F-16s and Gripens are allowed to utterly shit on absolutely everything with their blatantly overperforming fantasy FMs while getting decidedly inconsequential token "nerfs". its not just f15/f16 , everything single nato top tier , m2k/m4k/gripen/f14/f15/f16/f20 all shit on su27/mig29/ now mig23 , they shit on yak 141 aswell , cus for some reason gaijin is refusing to give yak 141 r73s , which will make it op in a dogfight but nah its stuck with r60s. at 12.0 , while f15 gets 4x aim9m at 12.3. idc if give it r73s n move it up to 12.3 , just give it r73 already.

@@Infinite-INF 6xr27er are useless if u use your brain and fly at 20m , r73 are usless if u use your 240 flares in f15 and drop afterburner and pre flare , only f16 is vulnerable as it has 120 flares , but thats still more flares than su27 , su27 only gets 96 flares again an invisible missile lmao , so u have to randomly flare sometimes n assume a missile is coming .

I really hate this kind of crap. I came back to grind low tier stuff. If they nerf it to the point it sucks I am going to be mad pissed.
I mean whats the issue? if your buying a premium and not expecting stuff to change on it then thats on you. its mentioned when you buy the product. same thing happened with the CV90105 when its original premium was changed to the 90105 model (forgot the original name) the same happened to the Italian M60 with its stabiliser being removed and thus pulled from the store.
Granted gaijin should be doing a better job on premiums so they DONT need to be changed but I dont see an issue with this if its accurate, it will more than likely go down in BR as this nerf will put it probs inferior to most F4s at its BR range in sustained turns so if anything this will be a buff cz its gunna go down in BR or get new missiles potentially to offset the drop in performance.
But lets not ignore the Mig21MF/SMT and Mig21 Bis are overperforming and so is the Mirage as well :D

I knew it was coming when i beat 10 mirage 2000s back to back in my mig27 in sim. I was really confused because all i did was sweep forward wings and out turned them over and over again.

I have yet to spade the soviet mig 23s but I have done the 27s, and the German 23s, all (besides the BN) were very fun to fly. I hope they arent completely gimped into the ground by this, and if they are, i hope their BR is adjusted accordingly.

It’s funny how so many Russian top tier planes get nerfed, US though, untouched, it’s been proven the F5E is overperfomring, the F5C has fictional flares, the F16A having an over performing model, M4K at 12.7 while the F15 is 12.3, silence from gaijin. Pretty obvious where the money comes from.

I've never played the MiG-23 like a turn fighter anyway, It's really an interceptor IMO.

It's curious that when the topic of the video is to ramble about top tier ARB, you manage to actively criticize every other nations balance -wether nerfs or buffs- but you generally gatekeep Russia from getting a nerf because "it's popular"
I went through the entire tree, i experienced the pain related to the roll rate of the MiG-15, ik the pain from the 60 rounds of the first MiG-21, how strong the SMT variant is, etc. But this nerf ain't gonna break the plane apart, it's just going to move it to the role it's supposed to as an interceptor in a battlerank that SARH missiles are not that strong as 12.0-12.7, Floggers have one of the best engines and thrust to weight of their ranks, 2 R-24s which are quite okay as of now, and R-60Ms that in front aspect jousting, it works reliably good.
Already interested on how you're going to react when the inevitable nerf comes to the F-20, because as DEFYN, that mirage of "i want every nation balanced" starts to rip violently whenever there's money or a subtle favoritism on the line.
And please notice that it is not in my particular interest to be against every single you have when speaking of gamebalance or to bait you into discussions, the F-104 is the best example as i agreed with you on that point, but the need of having a serious conversation about content creators at least saying their favorite ingame nation is becoming a need if we want to have a honest discussion about balance, this people-pleaser dynamic of wishing balance everywhere while complaining about changes for certain nations is getting tiresome.
