This is probably Nirvana's cleanest live performance (which is saying something, coz Kurt always tweaked stuff). It's almost as good as the studio version.
In a way, yes. On A Plain is also ironic as a title (for Kurt), as he meant it literally. The song is also about arriving a place in his artistry that was in some ways an accomplishment. He echos this sentiment when choosing Plateau in the unplugged album. On A Plain was also the last song recorded on Nevermind (One more special message to go, then I'm done, and I can go home). Kurt wrote some of the lyrics minutes before he sang them, and they had to pay for extra studio time to complete it.

Dave's back up vocals adds so much and almost sounds like Curt's doing his own harmonies. Not only a killer drummer, but great vocals as well.
